Results and such by DustySwedeDude, August 30

http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/6705/augustzb.jpg

Also lost like 8k US on some other site, but these stats are in € so it's all good. I guess I'm up about 40k + rakeback in total, which would make this one of my best months ever (at least top 3 I think). This is ridiculous considering how I only played 30-35k hands. On the other hand my winrate has been pretty good and I'm actually breakeven on 10/20 for the year now despite consistent losing for the first few months.

Will try to get stuff more on schedule as far as playing, eating, sleeping, school, BJJ etc next month. I feel that something is wrong if I can't get more then 30kish hands in a month without school and I think it has a lot do do with not being time effective. As I wrote in my last post I'm trying to get my sleeping right so I went to sleep at 11pm on Sunday, basically saying "screw turnaments, guys! I'm going home!" in my best Cartman-voice. Woke up at 4.30 since I wanted to have some food before working out, went to BJJ, came home, had another breakfast and such before going to school for some introduction crap. When I got home I felt super tired so I went to sleep at 4pm which probably was a bit to early so now I woke up 2 hours ago at 3.30AM. I think I might be on the right track but I gotta watch this.

Also thinking of starting to try for like 2 90min sessions of poker each day or 5 days a week or something just to make sure that I actually play. Gotta be productive! Also, I'll try to figure this BJJ thingy out. I still am annoyed that I suck at basically everything, but there's a couple of lights in the tunnel.

Despite bitching about working out enough I actually noticed a few days ago that I'm down ~10kg or so since new years eve. Makes me feel good and I'm really motivated to keep getting in better shape. Havn't 100% decided if I'll try to put priority on getting my body fat down or if I should try to get stronger. It'll probably be decided by how much time school takes up.

Secrets of Pokies Revealed by hhse, August 30

As in poker, there are also regular 'pokies' players. And, as in poker, over time they develop methods that supposedly make them winning players in their chosen game.

I don't know how many of you have been to the Casino or local club, and watched the regulars at the slot machines, but in case you haven't, I will impart part of their secret tactics to supposed win at the game.

Heres a list:

(1) First, and foremost, I call it 'Wiping the screen'. When you have time, go sit down beside a bunch of baby boomers at the pokies, and notice that when they hit a feature, they will excessively wipe the screen before each spin.

(2) Second, I call it the 'double tap'. Its pretty simple really, rather than push the spin button once, use two quick swift tap motions.

(3) Third, I call it 'tap it ti tap'. Basically, its just excessive unnecessary tapping when they hit a feature. For those of you who don't know, a feature is when you win multipe free spins, and this does not require you to tap.

(4) Fourth, I call it 'rub it'. This is less common, but is still out there. Basically its when the gambler or their companion reach to the side of the machine and give it a couple of rubs.

And theres many more, which you will discover if you keep your eyes peeled. But yeah, if you are not using any of these secret tactics, you obviously doing something wrong at it .

I'm so lame.

Looking for coach by Xervean, August 30

I am looking for a low-midstakes NL coach who can help me take my game to the next level. I want them to be a big winner over a large sample size.

I am interested in something fairly long term where I start playing at 100nl and then build up to higher stakes. I might be interested in some type of profit sharing setup. I do not need a backer or anything because I have my own bankroll. Primarily interested in identifying and plugging leaks in my play.

If any coaches are interested or if anyone has any recommendations please hit me up.

August Results by exalted, August 30

Feeling pretty good (although just finished a bad session). Not satisfied with my current play - there are some spots where I give up too often, and other spots where I am too stationy/aggressive. I don't deal well with aggression from solid regulars, and honestly, after incorrectly calling river bets by regulars and getting burned, maybe fold too much. My handreading is solid but I have such a strong aversion to being bluffed / folding the best hand. That emotional conflict is a huge leak, combined with the fact that I am tilt-prone and emotionally influenced by my results.

There are some hands (tournament and cash) that leave me a little puzzled, so I'll post them in the forums.

The month probably comes to 4k (+ rakeback) (- donkament buyins.)

August = Great by YouGoTGoT, August 30

Spent 2 weeks on vacation plus the last week moving into my new apartment. Finally all settled and it feels good, ready to grind my ass off in September, shooting for 40k hands. Didnt play much poker, but i posted my small graph, decent winnings. Ran hot at pLO but lost at NLH. Also got 4th in the 3.3 rebuy while in Florida for 2.3k and a few hundred in cash games while down there too. Total month winnings are roughly 2.9k. Biggest month ever w00t.

On a side note I seem to start every month with several losing sessions, cant wait till that stops.

Going pro by LemOn[5thF], August 30

FREE MONEY - ACCEPTING BETS AGAINST ME!
- I won $1k over 1 year period - now I need to make $600 (+rb) every month on average!
Skype LP-LemOn for propbets

http://www.pokertableratings.com/stars-player-search/doc.lemon

After 4 months of virtual inactivity, and 9 months of endless spewing after work prior to that, starting September 10th I will be officially playing poker as my only income!

As I have savings I need to make some $700/month minimum to survive while building my BR at the same time.
http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/6929/95275037.png
=$2500 including my $250 on FTP + those FPPs.

Limit: NL50
Move up: 2-3 BI Shots at NL100 at : £2k (excluding FPPS cashouts)
Move down: lose 10+BI at NL50
Switch sites: As soon as I make silver star and cash out my FPP riches somehow.
'clean hours' of play/week: 24-40
Study or talk poker/week: a lot, bitches.
Uni study/week: 24 hrs, more 1 week before exams and dissertation submission dates, none during holidays.

Alternatives: A) A well paid part time non-menial job with good experience for CV (higher priority than poker, well hard
to get.
B) A minimum wage ($9/hour) part time menial job, little to no experience for CV (easy to get, only if I fail
at poker and dip >£1k into student debt.

I HAVE BEEN OMFG LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SHIT FOR A YEAR NOW!
I have been a poker pro once - for 2 months at NL25 when I performed with a roaring success (2BB/100 @12tables back then and 50hrs/week played on average, check out my old blog posts xD). Lets hope it will be equally awesome this time.

I need to tie up my whole great but demanding work experience by writing a 12k word report in 10 days and handing over my job, but at September 10th I will be a proper poker hustla playing online (well, with some uni stuff), in a local pub and a casino (10min walk).

P.S. Happy to take some prop bets against me, Skype to discuss

ez august by D_smart_S, August 30

Hey, guys. This is my first blog entry and i'm gonna share some things with you. First off, I am 21y.o., Bulgarian and that is enough i guess. My graphs for august: http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/4673/augustipn.png

http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/8215/auguston.th.png

http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/618/augustpac.th.png

Other than that, me and a couple of friends experienced stg really strange the other day. We were in a cab and one of us saw some strange lights in the sky. So we got out fast. They were 4 baloon-like spheres with some flame/light in the center. They stood in the sky, forming a V. Then out of the blue there were like 10-15 more like them coming towards the other 4 and they all started going in different directions, freezing for a moment, changing directions smoothly. All this makes me think they have brains; wasn't like wind was caring them away! It was a very clear sighting and most of them were close to the ground and they didn't look that big but that might be just an optical illusion. Today, one of the friends who was there with me told me that there was a video about them on the news and these objects were seen in other areas of Bulgaria too. Pretty sick exp.

And just to finish with stg funny - here is a movie i made through site some of you already know about - http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7033997/

August results by longple, August 30

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/86875836e167aed380b9c41ff8db7942.jpg

first im my division, starting to get a hang of sc2 now i feel. allthough i still suck balls. i didnt play the beta so the first 50 games in there is like "lol wtf is this thing i must try that one". first like 80 games i went 50/50 wins/losses now ive started winning more as i play thougher players.

anyways, funny game.

ye havent played much poker this month, im used to 300k hand months normally and this summer has been like supernice, im up almost 30k$ for the summer and havent played more then like 100 hours. feels pretty nice

as for august i played like 50 hours of pokerz and im not gonna play much today or tomorrow either ithink. have been playing so much sc2 but ill try to get in alittle more poker in september.

stats/results of aug (all in SEK, swedish crowns)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/0fedadae549ffa6f7d881ec0998428b4.jpg

remember that 7 SEK = 1$, so 70k sek is 10k$ and so on (97k ~ 13k$)

i lol at how loose i play. dunno why ive kept to 24 tabling like a stupid retardnit for so long and not pulling my finger from my ass before to play some "real" profitable poker.

the winrates are pretty high as u see on all the levels, its kinda standard playing 200bb deep at all times with retarded regs. i wish all sites had a 200bb as a standard.

like it favours the better thinker/handreader/player like.. sooooo much its sick really. u can just destroy people when u play deep with them if they dont know how to adjust and shit

like, just look at my 4bet stats

great summer, +17k$ in june/july from starsbonuses + heater at eu sites and now 13k$ in august.

also i cant say enough about how good it feels to be single for once. like, there is so much freetime to do other stuff with, like grinding sc2 =D smoke pot and hang out w friends.

much love

again, add me RataN//713 on bnet and say hi

epic Sunday (very long post) by vltava, August 30

I dumped about $500 a few nights ago playing PLO 100 all night - badly. Also I had to cash out about 1k for bills and expenses, and paid off a $100 debt to a friend with a transfer, leaving me with about $1700, but I started grinding it back up with the $16 and $27 SNG's and was back up to $2200 Saturday night. As Battle of the Planets rolled over at midnight, I checked the leaderboards and I had just barely squeaked into earning a ticket for a last-Sunday-of-the-month BOP triple shoot-out (tenth place, high orbit Neptune - $20-$49.99). While I hadn't received the ticket yet, cashing in BOP reminded me that I had an old unused ticket, so I signed up.

Since there's a potential for a huge payday by just winning two STT's in a row, I decided to play no other tourneys in order to maximize my chances in the shoot-out.

Although I had some Internet connection problems during the first table, thus decimating my timebank, I did catch good cards. I think a lot of the luck of BOP is your table draw. $1 players rub shoulders with $1000 players in this tourney, and as far as I can tell, the distribution is random. My first table had six players, another nontrivial piece of luck, as some tables had seven. One of my five tablemates was winning middle stakes reg and 2+2'er juandadi. With three players left, I stealraised his BB on my button, the unknown in the SB made a resteal, juan shoved with AQ, and I folded, but the SB turned up with AA and juan was out. I jockeyed back and forth with the remaining player for a while, until this hand gave me a > 2:1 edge. I had been three-betting him a lot, so I figured he was highly likely to be simply getting fed up with me, making it a pretty straightforward fivebet shove.

$195 locked up. I got a pretty good table draw again. I had noticed SamENole was in the tourney and had also advanced. He's an old time high stakes SNGer from the heyday of PartyPoker, and I was glad not to see him seated with me in the second round. I didn't know anyone at my table, including the Dutch PokerStars pro Pappe_Ruk. Unfamiliar to me. He managed to stack off with A9 on an AQ6 flop with 50BB eff. stacks facing a CR.

With him gone and six players left, this hand came up,

The table was tight and passive and seemed to be playing scared money. With stacks at 3k, 3k, 3k, 3k, 1k with five left, I ran mine up to 7k versus 3k, 3k, with three left while seeing very few showdowns. I didn't play perfectly and missed a play or two I think, but things were still working. The hand that set up the HU was a king high flush draw beating an ace high flush draw after they got it in on the flop. Carol, watching, said "that's sick!" I'm so proud.

My opponent asked to swap 20%. He was really passive, so I just said "that's too much". Maybe he could have successfully negotiated some lesser deal, but I was glad he left it at that. Carol was sweating me and I was giving her my thought processes aloud when this hand came up.

Pwn. Opponent just said "I see now why you didn't swap." Grin.

This next one hurt, but it may have saved me; because there was a showdown, I got to see his line when flopping a big hand. Since he cbet and checked the turn, I thought he had totally whiffed and I had the best hand, but I wanted to take it down with a bet in case he had hit a nine or a jack, and I thought it was a good spot because my hand looked exactly like an ace or a seven. ...Surprise!

So, on the next hand posted below, when I bet my top pair for value on the river, and he shoved, I thought about it a little and noted he had played his flopped trips in the same way, so I laid down the ace. When I inquired he said he had KK, which fits. The turn check probably cost him a few thousand bucks; I was check-raising.

He immediately started raising 4x for the first time instead of 3x, and overbet shoving over my standard raises, so I thought he was fairly tilted, which induced me to call when he shoved over my turn lead here, since he seemed to have started to spew. Besides, fuck, I got top two pair. Turns out it was a pretty solid spot to semibluff, with an ace, NFD, and OESD, but I boated up and moved on to the FT.

I had two players I didn't know on my right, but they both had their supernova status showing. Two seats to my left was midstakes winning STT reg ucantcscottyg, and across the table was apestyles, who had beaten SamENole in their HU. See what I mean about luck of table draw?

One annoying character at the FT was begging for a chop, but it wasn't happening. That was useful info for shoving over him in some later hands, since he clearly wanted to avoid expensive confrontations.

After a bluff that did not work out, my chip stack was in dire shape.

Seat 1: apestyles (1225 in chips)
Seat 2: I..nobody..l (1565 in chips)
Seat 3: kafelnikovz (2570 in chips)
Seat 4: unctarheels3 (1470 in chips)

Seat 6: wcsquad3 (1090 in chips)
Seat 7: cantcscottyg (1460 in chips)
Seat 8: anguila (1405 in chips)
Seat 9: drOppzPT (1861 in chips)

But I mostly waited, stole the blinds a few times, did a resteal, and at 50/100, started pushbotting, and managed to gradually restore several hundred to my stack, until at 75/150 my AK tangled with QQ and spiked the ace on the flop, putting me in healthy shape once more with six left. Meanwhile ape could not miss with AK, taking out JJ and TT, plus he got AA against a C-O raiser with AKhh.

Seat 1: apestyles (5140 in chips)
Seat 2: I..nobody..l (601 in chips)
Seat 4: unctarheels3 (1822 in chips)
Seat 5: vltava (2683 in chips)
Seat 8: anguila (2384 in chips)
Seat 9: drOppzPT (870 in chips)

We got to four players remaining. I had the second lowest chip stack, but I was not desperate, and there were no antes, so I was playing the waiting game. The prize structure for the top four was $12k, $7.5k, $4.5k, $3350. So I felt it was a lot like a single table money bubble, with a huge incentive for making the top three.

Seat 1: apestyles (6513 in chips)
Seat 5: vltava (2233 in chips)
Seat 8: anguila (3151 in chips)
Seat 9: drOppzPT (1603 in chips)

Then drOppzPT doubled up and the situation changed. Now I was looking for a spot to make a move, and then ape pushed on me from the SB. I felt compelled to call because 1) with 9 BB and no antes, I was not yet on life support, so he would probably think that I did not see my situation as desperate, meaning he could shove on me with a wide enough range that KTs should be ahead of it, 2) I was the shortest stack and short enough that I thought it was was better to gamble it up sooner than later.

anguila eliminated ape in a coinflip, and after a few orbits three-handed I picked up KJ in the SB. I raised and he shoved for about the fourth time in this situation, and I thought this was the right time to make a stand. Part of the incentive was I tend to see this kind of situation as flipping for 1st or 3rd, versus probably finishing second. (Stacks after posting blinds: villain 6.5k, hero 4.5k, other dude 2k.) I think that's a good gamble when the jump in prizes is much bigger from 1st to 2nd than from 2nd to 3rd; it's a flip with a big overlay. Obviously it's not quite that simple because garnering a monster stack doesn't guarantee first, but add that I can also have the best hand, and I'm getting odds from the pot, and I think it makes sense to call often in this kind of situation. Oh, P.S.: BINK!

anguila picked off drOppzPT and we went to HU with a 9:4 chip advantage for me. I offered to chop up the difference between 1st and 2nd based on that ratio and he declined. shrug. I don't normally make those offers, but I also normally play $16 and $27 STT's, and this FT was like a $3k STT. I demolished him fairly uneventfully in the brief HU, with the net result of the tourney multiplying my online BR by seven.

After Carol and I had a victory sushi dinner and watched an episode of the new season of HSP together, I pondered a bit what to do with the new roll. I actually sort of have a legitimate roll now, instead of just trying to scrape something together. I'm not going to start jumping into MTT's or $400 NL or $100 SNG's. I've played some $1/$2 NL in the past, so that's probably where I'll go when I play FR, and maybe $.50/$1 to work on my 6-max skills. (in before 'nit!') Maybe $300 NL at the Bike, and $10/$20 limit. I'm not sure if I'll be able to hit the rebuys on a regular basis now that school starts and I'll be tutoring there, but I think I can reasonably play anything from the 3R to the 22R now when I can fit it in. As for my bread and butter, since I am a winner over a good sample at the $25+2 and $35+3 levels, but unproven at $55+5, the plan is to mix together $35+3 and $55+5 for a while. Also, I have over five hundred buy-ins for $25+2 and that does seem more than a little silly.

I started off the new plan tonight with a session of nine $35+3 STT and six $55+5 and bagged a $620 profit. Obviously I will not run anywhere near that hot over time, but it was reassuring. The best thing for me was that I could see players making dumb plays and tilting off in chat at the $60 level. It helps me realize it's still the same game, and there are still awful players. And bubble and ITM play showed me that there are still regs who overvalue the significance of ICM and are exploitable. So I think the future is bright.

There's still that Supernova issue. Just for that record, I collected 19.5k VPP in August, leaving me 71.8k to go. Way ahead of pace! Classes start tomorrow, but if I manage not to have some kind of bizarre meltdown, the VPP earning should zip right along at the new level.

trifecta - 3 wins by NeillyJQ, August 30

first off - just smoked a bunch of og kush x maui wowie - this is a rant, im bored stoned and feelin a little scatterbrained after playing for around 13 hours of mtts, and smoking weed for about 15 hours straight today.

hit my first one ever trifecta today (to my recollection, but im always stoned), i run my sundays backed by PTP so get 50% of it, 1st in the $22 500 cap for $1750, 1st in the $4 1r1a for $1250 and 1st in the $22r for $4850

(we all know how expensive sundays can be, bapping on ptp has reduced my stress level by a ton and realized how greedy i was being, just waiting for sundays instead of getting all the value out of the great mtts like $5 2r1a etc type of mtts

plan is to sell my sundays til i have 50k and play weeks on my own dime and some mtts under john n lex etc, finish paying off my debts and hopefully sooner than later, then get my own house.

Pretty sure this is the first time I've had a 3/3 at FTs in a day, feels great. WooT; = )

Anyways i hadn't had any win over a g over so in a couple weeks, it was really frustrating, happy to be back in the black.

"events since coming back to LP"

- paid back 11k in debts

(still working on paying rest back to john and lex who are very patient with me, they also put me in mtts very often and know they are my main priority to be paid back asap now)

- didn't take time off to re-evaluate br and situation
played too fast and too high and dumped the 7k left online over the course of around a week or so, playing pretty recklessly and gambling a little too much, i needed to take time off, re-evaluate bankroll and restrict to $55s and under.
lesson learn"ing".
i believe i won't play out of my roll always, but time will always tell if i really learned my lesson this time, or if i will try to do anything retarded. Remembering the games a business, always playing on atleast 100bi and 300+bi for rebuys is so essential.

i can tell you one thing, i dont give a shit to play any 109 rebuys except sunday morning, i dont care to ever touch anything above $215 unless its a series event like ftops or scoop etc, and have found the value in mtts like $11 1r1a and 5rebuys 3rebuys etc to be extremely profitable. also, the 500 cap tournaments $55 and under are really soft, and something every mtter should be doing. Also, for players that 3bet well and play strong positional poker, the $22 6max 500 cap is like the softest mtt on stars and good for cashgame players too (great for nl10-nl100 players to get a quick rip of a g or 2)

So ya, I took a day off, we had a party here, was 2 girls birthdays at same time, was like 500 ppl here, had a fucking insanely sick night. (have a house in vegas with sharp.info and 2 good friends with a pool hot tub etc) This was one off the fcking chains party, i think i got some random pics with my new camera, but i gotta charge a battery to find out.

so that was friday, saturday i take the day off as i had been really burnt out and needed to recoop and think over my game. i end up getting ran into by a taxi driver and i had no damage on my car but he shipped me $100, i took it and acted pissed and walked away a happy camper =)
oh but i lost my phone i think on saturday night...i'm so lazy, how long will it take me to go get another phone, over / unders should be placed.

--- ---- --- ----

Getting back to my roots and mass tabling with solid fundamentals instead of playing tons of highstakes games with fancy play syndrome. Solid Fundamentals are way better for me atleast, and now that i built that lag image against all the mid/highstakes regs, it should be quite profitable for the next few weeks whenever we face off.

"what i did is continued playing where i "believed" i was +ev, "figuring" i would get a win with all the volume etc, meh it gets deep but it was terrible, semi manic.

so ya, i played through that, made a few really strong videos, pokersavvy's cwalk2k23 really loved my videos, but couldn't hire me at the moment which was kind of depressing, but he reccomended me to 3 other sites, so the balls still rolling on that. Its really fun making videos ne ways, bought the snowball mic for a bill last week, the quality is insanely good, if you guys know where to upload a 300 - 600mb files i can upload them to the net if ne one wants the 2 i have done. (1 is 4 tabling, other is a ft, (one at ft the mic came unplugged for 20 mins so the middle of the ft (is a $22r on ftp) so ya no audio for about half the video

--- --- --- ---

so here i am, i went into june 15th with 1k when i got off my stake, was stagnant around 15k for a couple weeks, decided i should start payin ppl back, signed up to a bunch of sites and was also making a lot of videos.

swung down to just about nothin and saved my month today 4tw

feeling good and really baked and very scatterbrained and well im not proofing this before posting so its more fun for you all to read

have fun, this was a fuckin fun day after 2 weeks of losing what seemed to be every important pot and bubbling so many fts etc, exactly what i needed, after a great fcking party, some good fortune of taxi drivers givin me $, crazy parties with 2/1 girl to guy ratio's n tons of fun ^

lol if u read all that, i give you props

GL everyone, 3/4 joint left infront of me and south park callin my name

August~ by YoMeR, August 30

Well, I'm continuing my bulldoze of 1/2 and did quite well at 2/4 this month as well when it ran. Finally got a good chunk of monies on ftp to actually start mass tabling 2/4 so I'll start doing that starting this next month. Hopefully things will stay similar as they have been pretty much all year. Which is crush.

I think I'll try and win 100+ buyins at 2/4 like I did at 1/2 before moving up. Just makes poker so much less stressful when massively over-rolled for the stakes I play.

Here is my august graph. This isn't including ftp profits which is roughly ~1k after one session.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/b90c9b552350e916a855c19540baf3b5.jpg

I'm up approx ~3.2k at 2/4 and about ~6k at 1/2 this month on ub and down about ~750 at NL100. Great stuff running well at the right limits

I've been pretty off and on past couple weeks due to a variety of reasons but really need to up my volume again starting this week. Can't slack off now got monies to make~
