| | Day 5 by thewh00sel, December 09
Today: +$238
To date: $1682
To go: $33,318
MTT day today, lost $112 in several small tournaments and a couple satelites.
That makes it $1332 profit overall, going out to the $2/$5 game today, i'll update when I get back.
Went to the 2/5 game, made $200, played AA really badly one hand, here's how it went down.
UTG raises to $10, next guy reraises to $40, I call in the SB with [As Ah], UTG calls.
Flop is [Ad 9d 6d]. I bet out $60, UTG calls, reraiser goes all in for 150, I call, UTG calls
Turn is , I check, UTG checks
River , I check, UTG checks, he has Ac Qd
I feel like I really shouldve bet this for value and to get him to call without odds to hit a flush. I couldve squeezed an extra 200-350$ out of this guy bc he was really loose passive but I was just checking and praying for a boat. I think I need to be betting and don't start hoping for a boat until there are 4 diamonds out there. I played this hand like a bitch and lost a lot of value that I should have gotten out of it. Even if I did check the turn I think i have to bet the river to get paid off by anything. I mean I have top set and there's no sidepot and he showed no aggression on the turn. This hand was just played pretty badly by me. >_< oh well. I made $200 at the game and called it a night. I was chopping 20% with 2 other guys there and they were up more than I was so I should be getting more but for now we'll call today a +$88 day since I lost all the tournaments that I was in...I added everything up. +$238 for the day.

| | The saddest part of my day by daut, December 08
So I'm sitting around doing homework at like 2 am chatting on ventrilo with some friends from liquidpoker when someone tells me to open up the 25/50 table on stars cause grandiose is babbling incoherently at GP about why he is angry that people think he is a losing player. Blah Blah whatever who cares.
Anyway, GP constantly mentions that he is watching a softcore porno with his roommate, I guess in an attempt to get grandiose to shut the fuck up. Regardless, he mentioned it several times. When grandiose was finally booted from the table, talk of this porno resumed, and GP said the following:
GreenPlastic: about this mssage guy
GreenPlastic: that hooks up w all these chicks he massages
GreenPlastic: pretty baller actually
GreenPlastic: roommate turned it on
GreenPlastic: the sex spa
GreenPlastic: is the name
Sadly, I have seen this porno. The chick the main character worked with (another masseuse) was very hot, exotic looking girl. I watched most of the movie, but fell asleep towards the end, I want to know if they got the money from that hot lady's husband to open their own place. I guess I will have to find out another time. Hopefully GP finishes it up and I can ask him tomorrow.
Im gonna go watch scrambled softcore porno cause I dont get hbo on my tv in here, but I can see it fuzzy, so hopefully I can spot some titties occasionally and at least hear the dialogue and the bom chickkaaa wahhh wahhhh music.

| | Day 4 part II by thewh00sel, December 08
I joined 2 tournaments, the 35k guaranteed 11$ rebuy and an 8.80$ nlhe tournament. I'm out of the 8.80 and im in for 30 in the rebuy so there's -$39 if I don't place in it. I'll update later but for now that makes total profit $1371
Finished last cash place in the 10rebuy makes it 34 profit for the day so...$1444 overall profit

Today: +$108
To date: +$1410
To go: $33,590
Played 974 hands
Was running mediocre, wasnt getting sucked out on, essentially just grinded up on every table. I played an $11 rebuy turbo to a $650 PCA qualifier but i just donked off my 31$ there. Pretty short session, I may play more later today, idk.

Today: +$778
To date: +$1302
To go: $33,698
1,250 hands played, ran well today, my hands were holding up and I was getting paid off for the most part. good 6.8 buy in day, hopefully i'll be moving up to 1/2 soon. I've decided that I won't be moving up to 1/2 until I actually have $6,000 online, so i won't be including my live bankroll, whatever I make there I will still add to the challenge, but it won't factor into which limits I play online. So as it stands my online bankroll is up to $4,633. 14 more buy ins until I jump up to the 1/2 game. I've been playing only at pokerstars so I won't be getting any kind of rakeback or anything like that, but hopefully I can just gain a lot of FPPs and move up the VIP ranks in the coming months.
edit: i went to a live game and made $100, so i just added that in.

| | Some hands instead of randomness by daut, December 06
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/110777
Im friends with p3achy, and he is mainly a 6max player who started playing solme full ring after I gave him a few tips. Hes a pretty good solid player, playing like 14/11 or so and pretty decent postflop.
After I reraised and the guy called out of the blinds p3achy INSTANTLY called the reraise. I put him on a pocket pair when he did this because there wasnt much thought as to if he should reraise or fold.
When he check raised all in, I immediately thought he had 55 or JJ. I started thinking a little harder, and saw some semibluff possibilities like KQs QTs maybe Axs too. Also possible he could have AK as well, but in that case, since i dont have a spade, in 4 out of the 6 possible ways for him to have AK he is freerolling me at about 5%. I didnt think he would have AA here because of the coldcaller and I also didnt think he would be doing this with a naked flush draw or naked AQ. I reluctantly folded the hand and a lot of my friends told me they thought it was a horrible fold.
I ran some pokerstove calculations on it and they came up with the following:
Board: Ah 5s Js
Dead: As
equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 24.9349 % 13.48% 11.45% { AcKh }
Hand 2: 75.0651 % 63.61% 11.45% { JJ, 55, AKs, AsQs, AJs, A5s, KsQs, QsTs, AKo }
I think that range is ok. I was getting about 2.2:1 on the shove so I think folding here is fine. I asked him later about it and he said he had AJ and "hes never calling my reraise oop again with a hand like that".
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/110779
Dont think because you are a good donkament player you can come into my house and call me susie. This was mainly a timing thing. He INSTANTLY check raised me, and i figured rizen isnt the kind of guy to make a smallish check raise just to save money so i put him on a feeler raise to snap off a cbet. Well feel this out buddy!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/110782
I timebanked this one forever on the river before calling. This player really bothers me for some reason. First off his icon is irritatingly ugly, I dont even know what it is, but it looks sort of like a deformed version of that doll chucky from childs play. Secondly, his style just pisses me off. Hes ultra ultra passive (his overall AF is .88), and he usually makes these tiny bets trying to squeak out as much value as he can, like if you continuation bet and he calls, and you check the turn he will bet like 1/4 pot whether he has a monster or a weakish hand that is beating yours.
So, when he potted the river I couldnt really figure out what to do. I should have folded, but it just seemed so strange because earlier he turned a straight flush on me and bet exactly 1/2 pot into me on the river and i flatted it with top 2 pair. So when he made this move, I was really confused because he never bets strong with anything. I probably should have folded because I dont see him floating me twice, but I was skeptical about the river bet so I decided to call, plus the fact that its blind on blind with a huge hand.
Alright, Im gonna go to class, mainly out of guilt of missing my first two today. Maybe Ill post some more hands later if youre lucky, but my guess is youre not and youll end up reading retarded randomness again.

I havn't been running very well at 5/10, after 4-5 weeks of playing 3/6 without a single losing session I suppose this was due. My overpairs are running into higher overpairs and or are getting sucked out on + people seem to just be picking up better hands. So the last 2-3 days have been going poorly and I no longer feel I am playing my A-game, I don't feel my edge is very big in my current state so I will drop down and regroup temporarly. It's funny how confident you become after a really good month and how quickly things can take a turn for the worse :D
3/6 is my A game so I will play it for a few days and go back to 5/10 when I feel I am good and ready.
I had two interesting hands today:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/109748 People have tol d me this is a spew but I generally don't get these wong. My thought process is preety simple: if his hand isn't strong enough to bet the turn it's not strong enough to make this river bet as a value bet therefore it must be a bluff. This board has a lot of missed straights and that's exactly what I put him on, I felt he is only doing this with a hand that has absolutley no showdown value. Also it's transparent my hand is weak and I would figure if he had anything decent he would value bet it because it's clear I'm not strong enough to call a big bet.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/109644 This guy was on tilt and I figured only a stronger hand would call a 2nd barrel from me so I decided to let him bluff off his chips. I also didn't think he would smooth call a flush in his "tilt" stage most players on tilt will repop me here with any draw.
That's all for now, also this month I've played 14k hands so I think I will reach the goal of 75k. I'm on pace to exceed this but I will certainley take days off.

Today: +193
To date: $258
To go: $34,742
621 hands played
Decided to play some more hands and got in a smaller session of 600 hands. I stopped after I made about 2 buy ins and that makes me a bit happier for the way the day started out. Tonight I plan on going to either my regular 1/2 game which usually has decent action, or I might go out to a 1/2 game about the same distance from my house with a little more action and no cap on the buy in amount. I haven't decided yet, but i'll update this later with a Day 1 part III section.

| | 35k Challenge by thewh00sel, December 05
Okay, here's the deal, i'm going to attempt to amass a $35,000 bankroll by the end of March 2007. That gives me approximately 4 months. My bankroll, as of today, is $3,600 online after a bit of a downswing (okay, like 15 buy ins at 1/2), and about $1,400 live. Live games i play: Thursday night 1/2 game, saturday extremely soft 2/5 no-max buy in game, tuesdays/fridays occasional 1/2 game.
Now, with my $5,000 bankroll I have a few general rules for myself to follow. For the live games I don't plan on giving myself any kind of bankroll management rules because the games are so soft that I feel like stepping up to the 2/5 game is extremely profitable as everyone at the table is extremely loose (probably 60% vpip). But for online games my bankroll management will be as follows:
$100NL: 25 buyins ($2500 bankroll)
$200NL: 30 buyins ($6000 bankroll)
$400NL: 35 buyins ($14000 bankroll)
$600NL: 40 buyins ($24000 bankroll)
-----
Here, when I reach $35,000, I will withdraw $20,000 and resume play at $400 NL and build back up.
-----
$1000NL: 50 buyins ($50000 bankroll)
$2000NL: 65 buyins ($130000 bankroll)

Today: +$65
To date: +$65
To go: $34,935
Today was fairly lame, 2,650 hands and an essentially break even day. Anyways I guess I'll update if i play anymore sessions today.
I played 17/15 today, didnt get many hands but i should probably be closer to 20/18 for next time. More aggression even though it felt like i was hyper aggressive. Who knows, maybe for 100NL this aggression level is okay, i'll have to look into it.
