Break from poker by Svenman87, February 22

after losing ~10 bi in the past week i decided I'm going to take a few weeks off poker...

If i do play it will be just a few tables.

My BR is still around 2k I just feel like its just not going so well for me.

I know i'm obviously playing bad, and I intend to fix it. I just dont think I can find my leaks at this point in time.

In the mean-time I'll play WoW and other random games ^_^

And hopefully get a full-time job soon to help occupy my time.

Anyways ;D i'll lurk the threads and be around on vent.

Take it easy ^_^

Rollercoasters... by RAHZero, February 22

Alright, haven't updated this in a while, but a lot has happened in the past couple days.

Monday was a rough day, I dropped two buy-ins at NL $50 quickly. Pretty standard coolers, top two pair against a turned gutshot and trips against a maniac's boat. Couldn't really get much going, spewed a little with AKs, and ended down about 2.5 buy-ins.

Tuesday was much better, I played only a short session which went really well, hit flopped quads vs. flopped boat, and made a good river call with a set on a 4-straight board. Finished up a little over 3.5 buy-ins on the day.

With my BR comfortably over 3k 10 days into my challenge, I decided to move back up to NL $100 last night. Boy am I glad I made that choice. I ran very well, played a very snug game, and got paid off. The games up there were actually worse than the typical NL $50 games at UB. Not sure if it was a game selection or just last night, but there were some very juicy tables. I had only 1 full stackage all night (AA vs. KK, lol rungoodaments), but stacked a lot of short-stacks for like 50 or so BBs. Ended with my best cash game night ever, up over 5 buy-ins for my first +$500 cash day. This pads my BR pretty nicely for NL $100, and hopefully I'll continue to do well there.

Wednesday's graph:

http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/4526/feb21nl3.jpg

Day 9 Totals:
-$127.05 in 2,407 hands of NL $50

Day 10 Totals:
+$187.10 in 558 hands of NL $50

Day 11 Totals:
+$532.90 in 1,144 hands of NL $100

Current BR:
$3,622

Overall Totals:
+$405.50 in 15,836 hands of NL $50
+$532.90 in 1,144 hands of NL $100
-$38.75 in 280 hands of $1/$2 Limit
+$60 in tourneys
+$156.95 in bonuses / RB

WTF Boringaments? by DustySwedeDude, February 22

I havn’t been playing as much as I should lately and even if I’ve been winning a little of money and feel that I’m much better then most people on my limit I don’t find it as fun as it used to be. I’m trying to grind my roll back to NL100-shape but that will take a week or two and I’m a bit annoyed with myself. I get emotionally indifferent to the game a bit more then before, and that’s probably good, but I don’t really feel the urge to play either. I’ll probably just take a day or two off and study a lot, but if someone has any tips on how to get the will to play back it’d be great if you guys could share it.

Poker leagues by iop, February 22

So as I wrote in my previous post I will be competing in a live poker league in Sweden, called "lagpoker ligan". So that's going to be alot of fun, I'm really looking foward to that. I will also compete in a online league: Martins Poker Online League. Martin De Knijff and Patrik Antonius each have their own team in this league. I will be playing with some very good poker players, so I should learn alot. That's another thing I'm looking foward to!

Pokerwise, I didn't play that much yesterday but I'm up a couple of buyin's. I will transfer around $300 on to some poker site in a couple of days. I really like Fulltilt, but I kind of fucked the rakeback up, so I don't get any. I wrote an email to their support asking if I can close down my account and re-open it, ofcourse their answer was no.

Uhm, I really want to have a full blown poker weekend, but I don't think that it will be the case. Since I might travel home to see my mom and my stepdad since they are in Sweden. Both of them live in Chicago so I don't see them that much. My dad lives in Germany so I don't see him that much either. I might be moving to Chicago next fall to start studying, I really haven't decided what I am going to do. I've been thinking about opening an accound either on UB or on Mansion, any suggestions? I want to play on a site that has NL25 + rakeback.

Oh, has anyone ever been on a diet? If you could help me out on eating healtier since I want to loose a couple of kilos. I'll post two pictures of myself so you can see the difference, it's only a couple of kilo's but I want to follow a weekly routine with my eating habits. Just want to point out that I hardly ever eat junkfood. Just want some pointers! As you can see my face is a bit rounder I know some of you will point out that I should exercise, I do walk everyday and when the snow has disappeared I will start running.

The first step. by Adaptation, February 21

Alright, im 19 year old, living in Canada and i played Starcraft for a long time. After a decent WCG canada placement(7th), i stopped playing but checked out TL.net a few times. Until i saw that the poker threads disapeared. WTF i told myself. Then one day, i saw liquidpoker.net at the bottom. And the adventure began... After 30$ bux lost in a poker club tourney and a home game, i decided to turn towards my cpu...

My first 2 days of Online Poker -

With a 100$ on Party Poker upload yestoday(20/02/07), no real goal for now, just move up the levels.

So far im 18$ up, playing NL10 mainly, even if this goes against the majority of BR management. NL.4 is just too long to grind.

Time Played 2h30

BR:118(+18)

Notice i won't be using the usual BB/100 stats and so on because my pokertracker messed up, so ima stick to manual stats until i fix this.

Past 3 days... by Fayth, February 21

Have been quite fine, ran at roughly 8bb/100 over 4300 hands... i might stick to NL100 for a while and save up about 8k for a car... then i'll move up hoping to be at NL400 this summer! Here goes~_~
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/9102/feb192021jk0.png

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/149076 The guy was kind of a maniac but i thought he had KK here or at least QQ, i wasn't happy with the king on flop, then happy on the showdown

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/149074 I think this hand was a total spew and that i shud have check folded the turn... i had a very similar hand after that which didn't record against another nit and i folded, pretty sure it was a good fold.. Villain was 15/10/6

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/148740 standard fold! i hate to fold aces though

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/149064 oops

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/149089 I really feared the guy had AQ, but he could have been holding TT or 66 here too, so well, too bad!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/148763 spew? I realized the only hand i beat when i pushed was AT... or some kind of draw... ah well still learning ~_~

On a side note, I'M STILL SO HAPPY I GOT FIRED FROM MY JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS!

500nl action at local Casino by capaneo, February 21

first let me bitch about the past few days that I ran really bad past 2 days I kept getting cold decked and lost some HUGE key pots that resulted in me tilting and tossing like 700 in 4min and shits like that. But today went really good and I got everything back + MORE in less than 3k hands and as I always promise myself I stoped at 10buy-in up/dowm swing
Graph of the past 3 days

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l273/capaneo/past3.jpg

OK so few days ago I went at my local casino at downtown which is 5min away from my house and I decided to give the $2/$5 NL game a try. OH, boy people there were bad first I dropped $100 but then I managed to win like a total of 500 leaving with $400 profit. Two really intresting hands came up and one of them involved me and here Im just givin out a short review of both.

Hand#1: Some donkey raise pre and as usual 5 callers saw the flop! (LOL, ya thats the game!) So flop came something like 2h Ah Tc
So some donkey put out a $20 front bet to the original raiser(pot over $120 on the flop) and the Original PF raiser makes it $120 some guy calls and some guy with a huge stack makes it $300 some guy folds the donkey who bet $20 also folds and now to the original PF raiser who give it a 10sec thought and he is like "I'm gonna go all-in" he has like $800 something behind!!! so he is raising $500 now the guy who made the cold call preflop thinks about it for like 2min then he folds telling me one word(who was sittin next to him)! "Set." And he thinks he is the shit and I'm like "da, what did u folded?" and he is saying As Td for Top2. And at this point I can hardly stop laughing and Im like "good fold" telling myself 'what a freakin idiot foldin AT there'. So the guy with huge stack calls showing AK for toppair and the PF raiser who shoved into flop with that much action shows AQ and kisses goodbye to a pot over 1800!!

Other hand (This is one is funny) I found AdTd so I raised and some 2 donkeies called from blinds one of them REALLY REALLY loose shorstack who pushes every other hand. Flop came Qc 9s 6c pot is like $70 now and I Cbet around $50 the shortstack goes all-in and other guy folds and its to me and I asked how much it is thinkin callin the guy with over cards they tell me its $170 total and for some reason I heard they say its $70 total raise! And I'm 'fuck it I have to call $70 into $240 against a guy who shoves anything there' So I say call and put in $70 into the pot and the guy shows JcTh for an 8way str8 draw and I'm like 'Hey, I'm good' and the dealer tells me its actually $120 more so I have to put in another $50!!!!LMAO and I'm acting cool as if I made a mistake and miss counted and I say no problem and put in another $50 and win the pot at the river with A high!!!
I think I'm gonna go there more often the game is just so good to pass.

Taking a Break by tae-g, February 21

I'm becoming impatient when I play and I'm going to take a preemptive break before I become a stupid tiltmonkey.

Oh a happier note I got my free pokertracker from clearing a bonus at FTP.

Another update by iop, February 21

So, as I posted in my last entry I was going to play a poker tournament yesterday to get a place on the team. We were 14 players, and top 5 got on the team. The tables were split into 2 tables with 7 players on each table. We started with around 1500 in chips, 10-20 starting blinds. I played very aggressivly to start off. I found K-10h on the button and raised 3xBB. BB called. Flop came A-8-7 rainbow. I checked-raised the flop hoping to take it down. After a while he decided to call - Q came on the turn, where I made a potsized bet and started to trashtalk a bit, putting him on an ace with a low kicker. After about 5 minutes he folded his hand and I showed my K-10. This to make sure that I had a loose image at the table, so I could get alot of callers whilst the blinds were going up. Next key hand was 3-6 off whilst sitting in the small blind. I called, and the BB checked. Flop came 5-6-6, where I checked. He made about a 3/4 pot bet. After a minute or two I decided to call. Turn came an 8, where I checked again. He made about a potsized bet and know I was pretty sure he was sitting with a 5. So I called again. River came J. I made a potsized bet which he only called and showed his 5. I took out another player before getting to the final table with 99, so I was about second in chips. I didn't get any big hands on the final table so I basicly folded, I tried limping in with 55 twice only to miss my sets both times. Top 5 were to make the team so I had no problems making it.

I had also posted in my first blog that I had put some money onto fulltilt, and I basicly haven't had time to play (except for playing drunk and loosing 3/4 of my roll). So before playing the tournament I played about an hour 4 tabling NL10 which well, + $50.

I used to play NL50+NL100 on martinspoker but I lost my roll, so I want to be very diligent about BR management in the future. Before I was 3 tabling NL25 with a $200 which went well, until alcohol reached my stomach and I lost 3/4 of my roll. So I will put about $250 on to my account and try to grind my way up to NL50 and NL100 again - Not playing drunk, and not playing on higher limits.

My Anti Bad beat videos by Daut, February 20

I have pretty awesome tilt control. But it isnt all me. Whenever I get bad beat I throw up the following 2 videos.

The first one is the mangalore (from 5th element) version of Tony G yelling at ralph perry.

The bruce willis head on sammy farha kills me everytime, along with pretty much everything else in the video. Tony G better hope they dont see how he negotiates though.

http://www.filmreference.com/images/sjff_03_img1402.jpg

The second video is a trailer for Saw 4. Pretty quick turn around by Jigsaw to be spitting out another movie so fast. Here you can see him at his finest:

If this trailer is any indication of the 4th movie, I'll be willing to wait outside the theater for a long time before to secure myself a ticket to opening night.
