Die vegas airport taxi line by Daut, May 22

Just flew into vegas. Experienced one of the worse beats i've taken in a while.

until I can move into the house im staying this summer, I booked a room in the palace station hotel. It's this little shithole about a mile off the strip. Anyway, they run some shuttles to and from the airport and the strip. The shuttles leave from the airport every hour on the half hour.

So my flight lands at 2:55 vegas time and things are looking good that i will be able to make the 3:30 shuttle. I get off the plane, get a quick bite to eat, then go to the baggage claim. The following suckout transpires:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/bad_beat_baggage_claim.jpg

i didnt get my luggage until 335 and missed the shuttle. So instead of riding a free shuttle I had to go to my LEAST favorite place in the world. The vegas airport taxi line.

for those of you who have been to the vegas airport, you know how awful the taxi line is. It's a 1/4-1/2 mile long line full of retired degenerations, reeking of desperation, ready and eager to drop every dime from their last pension check down a slot machine.

Look at this shit:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/dievegastaxiline.jpg

an hour later, wanting to kill myself, i finally got in a taxi and came over to the shithole palace station.

DIE VEGAS TAXI LINE DIE.

How unlucky am i? by mrpav.com, May 22

There are my stats for today, same old same old. Still trying to play 21,000 hands per week and so far its working out. Also been playing some heads up at fulltilt at the $100 tables, my username there is -- Mr Pav --, and my god are the players there are horrible. so up 5 buy ins at heads up as well in a matter of 1 hour.

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8932/finalstatspw3.jpg

Still trying to play 100,000 hands per month and I’ve been on track to achieve that. I’m still 9 tabling at the moment and I think I’ll be 12 tabling soon again at 6 max cause players still take too long to act, so I have those moments were I’m bored =(. My bankroll it is getting higher on stars, so I’ll most likely be moving up to 1/2 soon. I’m still playing a little tight, but my volume is around 20 at the moment. So up about +5 buy ins on stars today.

4k hand session by Critterer, May 22

did another 4k session today, been putting in a lot of hands over the last 4 days. Again, right at the end of the session come the coolers/bad beats, i guess its becuase once i lose a few in a short space of time i decide to quit incase of tilt, so thats why they appear at the end of my sessions.

Anyway earnt another 1100 FPP today which is great, means i only have 500 left for goldstar, which is what i wanted to get by the end of the month, so im ready for a mass poker month in june. Going to aim for platinumstar in june. Should be achievable if i get goldstar this month. Might start 8 tabling instead of only 6 in june too. We'll see.

Graph+results of the last 4 days:

http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/9205/nl25may22nd4daysummaryex6.jpg

winrate is pretty low but ill be happy to sustain it over the next 12k hands too.

Tommorow = exams by PetrBlaha, May 22

DISCLAIMER: this post can possibly turn into line of swearwords.

So hell yeah. I've spent about 3 weeks learning for my final exams (called maturita) @ grammar school. I've learned about 6-10 hours a day for the fucking first time of my life so I think I've made like everything that I could have done.

But still after those about 160 hours of pure learning my mind seems to be totally "blanked", like tabula rasa (as John Locke, great empirist says). It is so weird feeling. I just now I should know it but I feel so weird. I hope that tommorow, it will all go the right way. just imagine 3 weeks full of literature, geography, sociology, philosophy, politology, economics and english.

I feel like I'm retarted now. Everytime I hear something it reminds me of something that I've learned. Like I'm reading some sarcastic comment "Oh drama" and I realize "hmm m there are certain types of drama like comedy, tragedy, opera .... , also there are ways how drama is made (introduction, develop dunno english words for it)" ... and everything around me is so ... weird :D. I can't even handle any more stories that people tell me, f.e. my friend was telling me about some story from weekend and at the evening when he was like "do you remember about that stuff @ weekend" and I'm like "HELL no ffs, wtf are u talking about newb" and I'm ggnored

Anyways... even from the shit I'm typing u can realize how dizzy I am right now, it's my first BIG test and I hope and I believe I will pass it.

Good night, tommorow I'll tell ya how it went

May sucks... by RAHZero, May 22

Or more accurately, the last 3 days in May have sucked. I'm in the middle of my worst downswing ever, and trying to keep my head on straight. Everything is going wrong: I'm not hitting any draws / combo draws, I'm flopping TPTK or two pair against sets way too often, I'm not hitting any sets myself, and whenever I get it in on the flop against a draw, it's hitting. That said, I know I'm playing good poker, so I'm confident that it'll turn around. If it goes too far, I'll move down for a little bit. May graph for fun:

http://img479.imageshack.us/img479/2851/maysucksap1.jpg

Luckily, May hasn't actually been this bad, I'm up ~$800 and have earned another $1k or so in RB and bonuses.

50NL Is Swell :) by Bejamin1, May 21

Well in a combination of running well and playing my A-Game over the last 4 or 5 days I'm playing a very profitable game at FR 50NL. Although I am not playing near enough hands. I also managed to win and sell a $530.00 seat to the Sunday Million next week. This gives my working 50NL BR a bit more breathing room as I will continue to cash-out funds to save up for school this coming fall. Once I have the money put aside I will shoot for 100NL as quickly as my play can carry me there. Wish me luck.

Working BR: $1500.00
School Savings: $2.9k of $5k goal

Smooth by locoo, May 21

Hello dear blog,

Forgot about you for a couple sundays, it s been really crazy these days for me.

Moving up stakes yet again

So here I am now.

From NL5 to NL10 to NL25 to a well rolled NL50 (1400$) in 4 months(started poker in February), I hope I keep going up 1 stake a month it would be the best thing ever, but I doubt Im going to be out of NL50 just yet, at least for another month. Basically I feel my game has improved a lot and Im very confident.

Ive had my bad runs like everyone but I feel I have an edge against the vast mayority of players at my stake which is always nice, so I can play much more confident. Of course im not at pokerstars anymore, then I wouldnt have that much of an edge I think.

Of course I still have much to learn, Im getting coaching lessons, last night was just half hour session with a coach and another half hour talking some with John. I made about 150$ in that session and was more than what I payed him which is always nice .

Also rakeback is the best thing ever!!.

Little personal life

So im moving out soon from my parents house and dropping out of 2nd year of university (not forever, but at least a year or 3/4 of a year). I really need to establish myself away from my parents for a while, I just feel its the perfect time to do so(I have motivation and money of my own) and to focus entirely on my poker game.

I definetly plan on going back to study but only when I have gained a very huge insight on poker so that I dont need to study it that much anymore, then I will have time to study other things.

I really hope things keep going this smooth, of course theres always the fear of a major bad run, but its a risk im willing to take.

Also I will start going to casinos 1 or 2 days a week, just ocasional 200NL soft games where I can win some money for the month to sustain myself, so that I dont have to cash out always from my online poker bankroll.

So thats it for now, was a little long, c u and play good at the tables!

Regards,

David

Someone set us up the bomb by Sheitan, May 21

Since i bought PT, im struggling to break even. This graph is hideous:

http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/1319/lolercoastyr3.jpg

I know that sounds pretty standart, but i think im cards dead and the only time i'll get a good hand, no action or some donk suck me out on river. I just can't make profit so far, i even lost money (im still up thx to milestone + donkament). Im playing very tight and since i can't get any action i try to trap people and it blows up in my face like this one:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197479

Dunno, i need to play more hands to see if this is a regular downsing or if something is really bad in my play. I'll keep playing what i think is solid poker and once i reach 60k hands i'll know if my game is shit or if it's just variance. But to tell the truth it's really really frustrating so far, im trying not to tilt like crazy but it's fucking tough, i quit playing after 2-3 bad beats, try to play 1H later after watching a movie, going out, playing a dota game, i come back open 5 tables then get 2-3 coolers/suck outs and im out doing something else, come back get kicked in the balls, call some friends/read a book, then come back to poker and get spit in the face.

http://www.thefunnybox.com/wp-content/images/owned15863.jpg

Oh and i think i just identified a major leak in my game:

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/8359/pocketshitkp1.jpg

I usually limp in and fold it when i don't hit a set, except if it HU and i board is low of course... Looks like i'm either unlucky with them OR i need to adjust my play, maybe stop slowplay them when i hit ? just make regular bets each streets ? I know nobody gives a shit but it helps me think about it...

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197485 - didn't see that one coming, maybe i need to bet 2/3 like usual.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197487 - standart ? Think i got sucked out, nothing i could do here.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197489 - just lol ?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197490 - no more slowplay from now, i'll fire on every street and make them pay if they want to draw their hands. Lesson learnt.

Ok for the rest, it's just limpin and foldin when not hitting, when i hit i get 0 action. I can't fucking fold these hands PF, that would not make sense right ? so i think iam being unlucky with these for the moment, the only leak i see is me getting outdrawn because i slowplay those like a tard. Any suggestions welcome.

Anti Tilt by DustySwedeDude, May 21

So I'm actually up a bit today but I'm still running pretty bad. Also, some girl I want to put my little friend in seems to fuck about every guy except me, so I did what every decent dude would do; I called up the local "I'm 5 kg to heavy"-girl and told her my intentions. She seemed amused and told me that I could come over as soon as she got into town. The bad thing is that it's still a week or more from now. I guess I'll just have to watch scrubs or something

TOTALLY SWEET PAD by nolan, May 21

So I moved into my new condo yesterday. It's only a short ways from my old place so it's pretty cool. I'm like five minutes from the ocean and still really close to everything I'm used to up here at University. I plan on waking up early and swimming in the ocean on a regular basis. I also bought a sweet mountain bike and I'm gonna try and figure out how to get to my gym through the woods (I think its possible) and develop some kind of daily routine that involves biking to the gym and back daily as well. In fact, I'm going to try and avoid driving a car as much as possible.

In the past I've worked as a lobsterman every summer but this summer I've managed to save enough money and secure a decent job bouncing at a nightclub so this is the first time in five years I won't be doing that. It's also my first summer away from home, guess I'm a real grown up now.

Had my first session in the new place today and it went really well. I finished up saving enough FPP for my second monitor which is nice. I'm going to build a new computer in a few weeks to hopefully coincide with the monitors arrival. Things are just overall going very well. I think I run really good on Mondays, because I've only had I think one losing Monday in the last like 4 months! Pretty crazy. I found a real maniac at the tables today who would never call preflop, always 3bet or fold and he limped rather than open raising. Then, I realized that on the flop, he NEVER FOLDED if he had three bet. I mean never. I got him to call my overshove with ten high once, and also with pocket tens on a J73 board (I had AJ). It was really weird and you can see some of those swings in this graph, as almost every big pot was with him:

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/6853/mondaywg7.jpg

Also, here are some pics of the new condo for those who care. I only really show my room and the common area for my roommate's privacy sake. Nothing special but it is like a good mile into the woods which I really appreciate (I've lived in a loud area/environment pretty much my whole life so quiet time is very much so embraced).

Nice little place if you ask me. Any interior decorating advice welcome.

GL all.

Fresh from the forge by tloapc, May 21

*WARNING* The following blog is my first negative bb etc blog. I'm posting it to hopefully get good advice, not just stupid crap like oh you big baby you know nothing about bad beats etc. Insult my play all you like with some reasons please! But don't insult me personally if you dislike bad beat discussion etc, just do the world a favor and don't read below and end up wasting your time (and mine)

Ok, so first a little background. As stated in my earlier blog, this week I am moving to DC. It is eating up almost every penny I own. I did manage to save 1k of my earnings for poker however, which has put me down to the .5 tables. So I figured I would just nit it up until I hit 2k and go from there. The poker gods however, are looking to make this a much more interesting/harder path than I thought. I admit, I am really frustrated at the moment, and since I am still relatively new to taking poker seriously (5 1/2 months), I also admit my confidence has also taken a hit due to these last 2.5k hands I've played. I would love any thoughts or critiques that anyone thinks; besides the fact of keep playing the way you are and in the long run you will come out ahead, because I already know this and want something a little more than that.
Alright so with my 1k, within 2500 hands, I very very quickly went down to about $600, and then forced myself to move down to the damn .25 tables to which the same kind of crap was happening and I quit after shortly playing there.

Whereas the last 6 months poker has been my source of income, this huge hits that I just took has me now debating getting a job when I move to DC, and just saving up for a br for .5/1 or 1/2 or live games. I don't really like this idea however, cuz
a) work sux of course, but more importantly
b) I know I can beat the .25 game, I've done it plenty before, and I should be able to beat the .5 game as it seems the exact same kind of people and ABC poker is all you need
c) for my own confidence I want to beat the crap outta any limit I play, so I don't want to take the pansy way out which is kind of what I feel like I would be doing if I didn't earn the skip through poker.

So below is all the big pot hands that I lost in the last 3000k or so hands. Some of them I had good reads, some of them were wrong reads. I'm hoping someone will go over them and give me reassurance or blast me with something I'm obviously not realizing.
*note*They are in no particular order.

Probably my least favorite played hand of all of these.

vs Villain with 85%vpip

My luck vs guy with 91%vpip in 100 hands (complete cooler)

Absolutely horrible flop play, hung myself - was preflop play bad to?

Any suggestions or just a cooler and nothing more?

This suckout sums up just about everything. Should I stop playing? I don't think so! I know I'm playing right...right?

This guy had been running all over me with lovely rivers. Main thing I wonder here is the fact that countless times I get rvr f*cked to the point I believe in it happening. Take a break?? nah I'm playing right! I will win!

what can u do, this is poker (#*@^$&%^#@$%&!)

How dumb was this? (nl .25)

I seriously rarely ever minraise anymore - think I did to single it out?? - what else did I do wrong

hand vs a complete nit - which is why I played it - had the exact right read - just a cooler in my eyes

how bad am I? 17$ seemed so ss to me that I didn't think this hand through

I should shoot myself for my turn play huh

I'm honestly not sure about this hand

was obvious I was getting to this guy - was 70% I had the best hand - good call?

How retarded am I? 14 on a 1-10 scale?

check this turn?

No need to look at this one really. Just normal cooler pre my KK vs AA with no love (not even any ky)

did I bet to much?

So I don't think I played that bad all in all right? Just mainly some bad variance? With a little bit of tilt of course. And at a time I really don't need it.
Thanks to any who actually made it through this blog lol I'm sure it was hell. Gotta run some errands, so I leave you guys with these two

First Depressing Downswing by Tycho, May 21

Pokerstars doesn't want me back at all . I went up $1200 on NL200 running 7BB / 100 Hands. Then went up to NL400 because I have the roll for it and was playing good. One sick session full of set ups and bad beats later I returned to NL200. I figured I just wait till I hit a good session and move up again while I'm playing confident and running decent.

Normally after a few sessions things go better, but now I can't seem to get a winning session going, even while I feel like I am playing good. It's not that my BR can't handle it, but losing while playing just plain sucks. If this continues, I'll probably search for some baller to help me out.

Vent:

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1348/nl2006maxfr9.png

Some examples about hands you always lose when running bad:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197117 --> standard
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197119 --> couldve gotten away if i hadn't value bet river, but it's absurd nevertheless
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197122 --> anyone slow down on river?

Well not going to post any more of em, I hope I can post a brag post again in a few weeks. Wish me luck!

welcome to NL200 by SneakrFreakr, May 21

So I've moved to NL200 like 2 days ago. I didn't have much time to play but I managed to put in 3 session. I'm running pretty good and trying to adapt to the game but it's only slightly different. I've noticed that I've got more fold equity here and I can make some more moves with a proper image (even though someone check/called me on all streets with AA after A high flop, when I was triple barreling - he just called my preflop raise with aces in SB). My stats are really nitty so far but I've started to open up my game a bit and now I've got a better feel for the players. Hopefully I can stay on rush for a bit longer and get a more solid roll for these stakes. At the moment I've got about 7,3k or so I think. Here are my stats:

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/2390/nl200br8.jpg

I've gotta go now so I won't post any hand histories now. I'll probably do it in the evening. Today I'm planning on playing a lot of poker during the night as I'm not going to bed. I can't oversleep for my early morning train again and the only way to make sure it won't be like that is to actually not sleep at all. Ok that's it for now. Holla

The Inevitable Speedbump by PanoRaMa, May 21

My May thus far:

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/may21.jpg

Today might've been the worst session I've ever had in my life. I was literally going berserk after dropping (eventually) a total of ~7 buy ins at one point. I think we all often like to say "well when I'm having a tough session, I'll go take a jog." I found it extremely difficult for myself to leave the session, with the words "MUST CHASE LOSSES" firmly imprinted into my skull. It took a very good friend to drag me out of my chair and take me to go eat dinner at the school cafeteria, then some starcraft games, etc. to help me recollect myself and play solid again.

Here are some sample hands. I do not play well. If you guys wanna rip some hands apart, feel free to do so . I'm glad I recovered a good portion back, we'll see if I can get it all back tomorrow .

Not in chronological order, so some hands are the result of semi-tilt while some other aren't.

1. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197000
AA vs QQQ, I try to trap and get trapped instead.

2. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196349
AA vs AKs ai pf, runner runner kings.

3. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197002
KK vs 77, turned set.

4. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196354
KK vs AKs ai pf, flushed (though it was a coinflip by the flop)

5. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197003
KK vs QJs, hits 2 outer on river.

6. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197004
QQ vs 7777, I could've gotten away from this very easily.

7. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197005
QQ vs AA ai pf, I thought I had a read looooool. I cringed looking back at this one.

8. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197007
JJJ vs QQQ, bleh.

9. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197008
87s vs 88, attempted a master ai with what I thought was good FE. I'd actually like comments on this. I cried inside when the river blanked =[.

So those are the bad ones. The good ones are usually me luckboxing with a set vs an overpair or something, nothing special.

Here's hoping that it was only a quick couple thousand hand speedbump!

Another big session by Critterer, May 21

This time it was a slightly better one.

6 tabled some 6max, mix of fast/normal tables. Had some sick sick cooler/suckouts towards the end, standard shit really, my 34 vs AK on K34 flop, river comes K g_G

Also anyone notice how its always the donks who hit sets against your overpairs? I can fold an overpair to a nit but against a guy whos prepared to go allin on just top pair its kinda -ev to fold imo.

Been racking up the FPP's since i moved to stars a few days ago. Made it silverstar and now im 1200 away from goldstar too only. So ill get goldstar this month and then maybe if i put the hands in next month i can hit platinum star! Thats the goal anyway, should be achievable considering ive got like 1500 a day in these mammoth sessions.

Been playing some donkaments, made the low-money a couple times but mostly losing near the bubble. Kinda run bad in tournaments mostly but oh well they are quite fun and i need to improve my game there too.

anyway enuff of the whine more of the greeeeen numberrrrssss and a graph!

Sunday's Play at .5/1 by mrpav.com, May 20

Hi everyone, its ==PAV==, so far I’ve been able to play about 3,000 hands per day without a problem. Oh by the way, it’s my birthday, so happy 22nd birthday to me. Yay! Any who, I’m going to talk about some situations I was in from today’s poker session. My stats for today are listed below, as well as certain hands I found interesting and what I was thinking about while the hand played out.

Stats for May 20, 2007

http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1535/statsaf1.jpg

Hands

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196719 - In this hand, I bet the flop strong, he had about 40BB left, there was a flush possibility on the flop, but he was short stack. He did not check raise me on the flop or prelop so I didn’t think he had the AQ, so when I bet the turn I didn’t even think he had AQ, I put him on a flush draw or a Ax, most likely on Ax, so I was liking my AK a lot at this point, since I didn’t believe the Q improved his hand.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196724 - Ok, this hand, to me personally it was beautifully played because sure, he can have a monster, like 22 or 66, but I put him on exactly what he had, a flush draw, not even a good flush draw at best. He was extremely aggressive and played almost every single pot aggressively, I wanted as much money as possible out of him on the turn, so they best thing I thought of was allow the aggressive player do what he does best, be aggressive, so he goes all in and the rest is history. He can’t have a QJ I though because he had a flush draw, so that didn’t scare me one bit.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196729 - I really pissing this player off, he played way too many hands so I took advantage of him big time. I finally get a hand, and he tries to make a move preflop because I guess he had enough of me. It was an A flop, so in my head I went, SHIT! Oh well, what can I do, but to my surprise I won, what did he go all in with for 150BB preflop you ask?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196672 - Then I played the $200 Sunday tournament, and not only was that a horrible call preflop by the player, then he calls 18k more on the flop with his hand. I can only play so well, but I need hands to fold sometimes =).

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/196731 - When something smells like a bluff to me, it usually is. This guys range was so vast, it was a really easy call for me, he would bet river with A4 if he had it, so I gave him a chance to hang himself. I wasn’t going to repop b/c that’s just stupid, since he’s not going to call me with air, but any who, just thought you might want to see it.

All in all, this was a good week. I learned how to play not as tight, raising my vol. put in pot and been able to play close to 3,000 hands per day so I’m happy with that. I’m most likely going to stay at .5/1 for another week or so and evaluate my results to base when the appropriate time would be to move up to 1/2. I’m going to post something new for you guys every couple of days to keep you updated. Tell me what you think, since this blog thing is a little new to me and your input would be appreciated. =)
