fucking heafjkdljfrlkgj
oh god i guess ill never stop tilt for this. fucking gay connection. the guy were i flopped full house reraised me to 300 as well and the guy there i had the flush bet out something i d ont care... gay fucking life
so obv i instaship out of shirt and tie (and pants!) and start 8tabling 50nl on ftp with my baller ftp-wear.
now i had been running pretty bad over the last 5.5k hands, but the combined forces of my birthday looming over the horizon and my aforementioned baller ftp-wear would change that.
all in all, i was up 6bi over 1k hands, then paid off quads and called it a day. ftp was surprisingly not nitty today. who knows why.
now it's time to study, since i have a test at 8:30am tomorrow. huge beat.
but at 10:15 i'll pick up the gf from the airport. she's home for the weekend from boston (northeastern uni) for my birthday. gogo sexaments.
Broke the downswing @ NL10!by Cro)Deadman, September 20
Ok so ever since I begun playing only NL10 I had a really tough time because I wasn't used being 100BB effective, and when you do make a mistake in a hand with 100BB's you REALLY feel it.
SO! I've managed to nit up etc,got my VPIP from 9 to like 10.5
and started focusing on really every hand im playing.
So my downswing ended and it was horrible... -9 buyins in two days and I wasn't even on tilt.
So horrible...I feel the person who put me on my feet again is DReaMe after having a few conversations with him.
i dropped over half my bankroll because I hopped up 8x my stakes on mega shitty session tilt and lost a buyin. I thought I was the last LAST LAST person on earth that would attempt such a stupid idea
so fucking stupid. thats 50 days of solid hard work down the drain in 1 day. I was inching closer, and closer, and closer, with 15 more buyins until the next level. 15 more buy-ins until 100NL, where I could finally afford coaching to fix my pitiful 0.14bb/100h. I was so frustrated with my super slow progress that I finally snapped and fucked my bankroll once and for all
But now, that'll have to wait another 2 months. I won't be able to plug my huge game leaks for 2 months. I'll have to stay angry at myself for 2 more months. My goal to reach a 2k bankroll by the end of september has been decisively ended. I'm so hurt by this mistake that I don't know if I'll be able to continue playing
This post is to serve as a reminder to the LP community, that there is no substitute for good old fashioned hard work. I paid dearly for this lesson, and I pass it on to you...a lesson I wish I could have learned for free.
Small update - Advice Neededby sooon2b, September 19
So this month has been crazy. I started the month stuck 10k. Playing a lot of 3/6-5/10. Lost like 5-6k from tilt, the rest legitimately. Regardless of the tilt, I was playing awesome all month. I was seriously reading souls. The game all of the sudden made sense to me. I went from -10k to +10k on the month in about 5 days. Yay
Not. Lately I have been getting extremely depressed again(no idea why really..). Been doing a ton of drugs(weed, lsd, x). Not going to class, etc etc. My life is kind of falling apart. I am also really sick... boo hoo. Anyways, my game is off now and I have been losing. I have been running below average, but have also not been playing that well. I am gonna drop down to 2/4 and 1/2 and start grinding again. Gonna slow down on the shot taking at 5/10. I need to get back on my game. No biggie
Aside from all that bs, I need some advice.
How much money should I keep online?
I really want to start investing this money so I can buy a house within the next year. My credit is horrible due to some ridiculous debacle with my old university. I am currently debt free, but dont have much else to show.
Say I keep putting money into my money market account. By the time I am ready to buy a house, say I have 150k in there. Will I be able to take out a mortgage for a house? I am not sure how soon I will be able to build up good credit again(if you have suggestions how, tell me...).
Another thing is, how much do I keep online? I would love to keep as much as I can online for tax purposes, but I need to grow my assets. If I am playing primarily 2/4-3/6 6m, and 5/10 FR, with some random shots at good 5/10 games, what kind of online liquid bankroll should I keep?
My plan was to take out anything over that set amount every 2 weeks.
Fortunately, I got him a couple of times in the end.
Unfortunately I ran into KK vs AA vs a reg and donated back almost a buyin (it was less than a buyin cause we were 200bb deep and he played it pretty weakly, as did I).
Fortunately, I ran into KK vs AA AI PF again and the board came all diamonds, so we split the pot. Unfortunately, the flop was King high.
Madman then proceeded to go on tilt but managed to donate almost nothing to me
Longest session I've played this month I'm pretty sure (well, split in 2), at least by far the most hands as I 8 tabled for the first time in a month for about half of it.
I've noticed that I really need to find a way to remove the fold button from my software (even though I had an unusually, for me, high went to SD of 24.4 for todays session, it's pretty low given my 19/16 stats I think..). 3bet instead of call when button opens and I have something like TJs or KQ, I bleed too much money here cause I don't want to '3bet too much' (is there such a thing!?).
Also, I need to learn when and where to bluff raise cbets as I basically never do it (at least not when I go into auto-pilot) and I'm always annoyed by those who do.
So, float more, bluff raise cbets more (but make less hopeless river bluffs..), call less. Oh and cbet less, 6.9 flop AF is overkill.
Well, it feels great to be back on stars nl10 after the 3 month hellhole that was ftp 25 and 50nl. I got started in poker after Jamie, my broodwar hero, directed me to a copy of No Limit Hold'em, Theory and Practice in December. It wasn't until late feburary and a great deal of studying and reading that I actually deposited 45$ on stars. Immediately applying what I'd learned from Grot's guide, forum advice, and T&P I managed to eat my way through stars nl2,5,10,25, playing full ring supernitty at like 13/10/4.5, and sometimes experimenting with 6 max, which I had been told was far more profitable, but my play was pretty static. I wasn't getting much better, nor were my winrates anything to boast about.
The shit really hit the fan and halted my poker progress around May. I switched to 6 max fully, did still pretty well on stars doing a mix of 25nl and 10nl until I had 600$. I decided to transfer my roll to full tilt for rakeback and the bonus and then things went south(and I didn't get the fucking rakeback because I'd already made a fucking account). I managed to donk off 5 buyins at 25nl over the course of a week, dropped to 10nl, struggled for a couple thousand hands, went back up to 25nl, dropped AGAIN, took an entire 2 weeks to grind my way to 650$ where I began playing 25nl again. As you might have guessed, I was doing really really badly at these stakes at full tilt, but I eventually pulled out a sad winrate of less than 2.5/100 bot of them and moved on up to 50, completely unprepared. There I struggled still more, moving up and down 25 and 50 a bunch of times and acheived a convincing winrate of .30ptbb/100 at 50nl over a pretty small 20k or so sample, and that was the end of my summer vacation.
I'd had a part-time job over the summer as a security guard at a waterpark, which I quit just before transferring to full tilt(lol). My mom was really pissed at this, especially considering I'd missed the due date to apply for the next semester's FAFSA loans. So at the end of the summer, she demanded I hand over part of my roll to pay part of my housing bill for university. Fortunately this convinced her I actually was making a comparable wage to my old job so she stopped viewing me as a degenerate, which was good, and I only had to pay 700 out of the 1800 bill, and this left me with 330ish$ to do what I pleased with, and 400$ from my job for college incidentals. So I took out the remaining 330 from ftp, put it on stars just in time for the reload bonus, and got started re-grinding my br yesterday!
So I'm in college, and only studying for 12 credits, the bare minimum to be considered full time student. This gives me plenty of time to play poker. 10nl is hideously easy on stars, I really think I can beat it at over 12/100 at least, on full tilt it was somewhat challenging oddly enough. I recall all the microstakes games on stars to be waaaayyyyy easier than the ones on full tilt to be honest, but I guess I'll test that out by how long it takes me to get from 10 to 50, since it took something like 130k hands on ftp and I couldn't even beat 50nl there. My only real goal in poker is to make enough money to pay off my student loans, if I manage to get out of college and have a full wallet, then all the better of course. I'm close to dead set that I'll be studying for an 8 year degree so this is gonna be a huge sum to be paying.
I know this blog entry was a boring block of text, hopefully I'll have something more interesting to bitch about in the next one.
there was a post on liquidpoker about this website where you can upload a picture of yourself and it matches characteristics of your face to celebrities and tell you who you look like.
