Been A While by k2o4, October 11

Fell off of the blog posts for a bit cause my NEW COMPUTER ARRIVED!!! I am in computer heaven as for the first time in my life I own a computer that can do everything I want it to do! Installed Half-Life2 and CounterStrike: Source with it. Haven't played that game in ages and it's just as fun as it ever was, and much more entertaining than BW lately. BW runs great though (some people with new comps have problems getting it running) and on this massive screen the units are plump and easy to select.

I even bought Halflife: Source for $10 off of the steam thingy so that I could replay the classic with my fiance. She isn't a big gamer, but she likes some of the shooter stuff and I've gotten her to play CS before. HL scares here, especially when the crabbies decided to jump at us from outta nowhere. It has been damn fun gaming again - haven't done it in ages.

Work has also gotten very hectic, so in the mix of transferring everything to my new computer, reinstalling all my programs, and working 8 hours a day, poker took a back seat. But now that I've gotten everything moved over I am very glad I got the 2.0 Intel Core Duo cause I can 12 table with PT pulling stats every minute and PAH displays everything perfectly without laggy one bit... even while PAH is updating its database! Dear god, orgasm is cumming now, turn penis away from computer!

Amongst this chaos I made my move up to NL25. The first session was very shaky as whenever I move to a new limit I feel like everyone is better than me. By the end of the first session I was confident that there were still many many donkey's around to take money from and started feeling comfortable. The 2nd session went well too, but then the 3rd session was painful and the 4th one was downright depressing. Started a minor downswing but fought off tilt and have been able to reverse it with authority over the last 2 sessions and am now up 2 buyins from when I started going down. Here's my NL25 graph to illustrate these words in pretty red lines:

http://www.smiteam.net/uploads/5639Graph-10-11-07.jpg

I moved to NL25 with 750 and got up to $810 after the first 2 sessions, then crashed down to $715 or so at the low point. So a 4 buyin loss, which isn't horrendous but at a new limit it feels quite large. Was also hitting a new level of "cold cards" and in one session I hit about 5 sets that all lost... and they were the only sets I hit. This was the closest I'd been to a bad tilt in the last 3 weeks and I nearly went there, but was able to get myself away from the computer in time to save my BR. Probably should have gotten away even sooner cause I think I was on a minor tilt for a bit and lost more money than I needed to.

Now I wanna step back a bit and look at my NL cash game career since I started it about a month and a half ago... So, 36,000 hands into my move out of Limit Cash games and SNG into the world of NL Cash games, here are my results:

http://www.smiteam.net/uploads/1413Graph-10-11-07-ALL.jpg

I'm curious to see how my overall graph looks when I make it to 100,000 hands, which is what people tend to say is the minimum hands you need to play before you can tell whether you're really a winning player or not.

No hands to post this time, so might as well close it out with a SS of PT. Hands will come in a later blog... but there will be a bunch on the forums sooner.

The other day was the worst day I've had in a long time

-890.00 day... Gross :[

[important]
I'm still really interested in a coach, I'm a pretty timid person so I'm afraid to PM someone to ask if they'd let me be there student for a bit.

Something hilarious I've noticed by TianYuan, October 11

Ok so some details to explain why I find this funny:
I started playing poker in late november 2006. I've played approximately 700 000 hands.

From august to present day:
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/9930/primaaugustearlyoctoberdx3.jpg
From may to august (with a few microstakes hands added in from later dates)
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/3196/pokerstarsmayaugustmostpa6.jpg
April
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/1752/ubtotaljq1.jpg
(SICK TILT MONTH)
I don't have any graphs older than this, since when I moved to UB I invested in a legit version of pokertracker and PAHud, and I didn't move my old databases to the new one (I might still have them somewhere tho).

During Mars I could barely play due to all my money being stuck in neteller (so I was playing like NL5 and 5$ HU sit n gos).

This is how many hands I've played total on PS:
614 155

SO. I barely played in November so between December 2006 and February 2007 I played 500 000 hands.

Sickest life?

Oh and to add to the life tilting amount of hands that is, I was breakeven for all of february after losing 60% of my roll when moving up to NL50 (I moved down immediately as soon as I was down to 16 buyins but I then proceeded to play a two day marathon - with sleep - where I lost another 500 on NL25 and 10).

So I played 500 000 hands and made next to no money (600$ was my bankroll when I moved to UB).

Awesome.

My current bankroll, with rakeback added in, is at around 9k (I'm not sure exactly how much rake I've got coming but it should be around 9k).

Note to LPers at Pokerstars by TianYuan, October 11

TianYuan on PS is 90% of the time not me. I play almost all my poker on prima nowadays.

Just thought I'd mention this since the few times I do logon to play (donk around at microstakes limit or no limit mostly) I tend to get messages from LP members.. So in case I'm not answering it's cause it's my mother playing =]

Also, I've been sick lazy this month, meant to play a lot but got about 0 motivation. Played like 9k hands, and half of those were in one long 13 hour 4 tabling session.

Bleh, maybe I need a break to get motivated again

So my story sucked by KeanuReaver, October 11

Kyra Gracie is the hottest woman alive. Even hotter than alba.

Erica Montoya you fool you should have just tapped before stepping on the mat. Now you're caught in the ANACONDA.

So you may be asking yourself, what truly makes her so hot? Is she truly hotter than Jessica Alba? Well let me tell you something you fucking donk, just examine their careers. Alba is an actress, which means the most you get from her is a faked orgasm. Kyra Gracie is the greatest womens grappler and bjj fighter in the world, do you understand what her hips are capable of? She will annihilate you.

My story by KeanuReaver, October 11

So I had a poker blog with a friend from a while ago, and neither of us used it for about half a year and we both forgot the password. I've decided I'll just do all my bloggings here. In any case, it's a rule you have to start out with your story so here's mine:

I started about 3 years ago, a friend was having a lot of success in poker so he got a bunch of us together to give it a shot. I started with a $50 loan and played the penny tables and went up from there. everything was going fine for a few months and I built up to NL100, then I hit a huge downswing and said fuck this shit and stopped playing.

After a while I decided I'd try again, this time I tried with sngs. Sng's weren't really stressful or difficult persay, but my winrate was tiny and I could never build up the money necessary to meet bills. After a while I once again said fuck this shit and took another long break from poker.

This time I sort of forced myself into poker, my mom was having difficulties meeting her bills and consequently her house was up for foreclosure. I figured the only way we could keep the house is if I somehow managed to win the money in poker. I had about 2 weeks to win the money and I needed to build a $200 br loaned to me from a friend to $2k...good luck eh? Well, the second day in I decided I would take a shot at a $20 tourney, if I could win it we'd have the money. I didn't win, but I did come in second for $1700~ so I was able to get the money for the house without too much work. The funny thing is I am just horrible at tourneys, I've played at least 200 tourneys since starting poker and that score is by far my biggest ever.

After getting the money for the house, I was once again looking at a 3 digit bankroll and the prospect of grinding sngs made me want to puke. Instead, I tried out 6 max limit. While the rake was killer, the competition was unbelievably easy. This marks the moment I was actually able to start making significant amounts of money playing poker and I would often have a 5 digit bankroll. Unfortunately, the swings can be vicious, and often I'd have a weekend where I would lose half my roll only to make it back and then some the very next weekend. The competition also seemed to spike at the 10/20 and 15/30 mark, so after a swing that sent my bankroll from 15k to 3k, I decided once again it was time for a change.

Well, after all that I ended up back at the start, no limit cash games. I started back up late November 06' at NL200 and over the next couple months I would run very hot bringing my bankroll up once again around the 5 digit mark. I would grind NL200 for about 100k hands (8 months given how much I play a month) and end up with a winrate of 6ptbb/100, I felt really proud of it not only because I did well but also because a lot of those 100k hands was me simply learning how to properly play. I got pretty bored with the grind though.

That was around the time the tourney contest started up here on lp.net. I figured that would offer a nice diversion from the grind for a month and maybe in the process I could become a reasonably decent tourney player. No such luck. The whole thing was just disastrous. Not only was I playing badly, but I had terrible luck on the bubble. I ended up stopping all together a couple weeks before the contest was set to end after it became apparent myth's team was unbeatable.

After losing a lot of money in that contest and with a br that offered little hope for moving up higher than NL200 in the near future, going back to the grind seemed even worse than before. So I ended up doing the worst thing imaginable in the world of poker, I decided I would short stack. To save what little dignity I could, I made sure to never leave a table after doubling up and would often play most of a session sitting on a full buyin or more. Ironically, most of my winnings in this short period of time would come when I had 50+ bb's, but even still I really did not want to stunt my growth as a poker player by being a short stacker.

About a month ago I felt I had a strong enough roll to go ahead and grind NL600. So far it's been going great and my bankroll is huge. I'm hoping to get in 100k hands of NL600 by the end of the year so I can accurately assess my winrate and decide what I intend to do from there. I have a lot of plans for the upcoming year and I'll need a whole lot of money to do them with, so right now my biggest leak that I need to fix is simply getting my lazy ass on the computer and putting in a good # of hours each day.

-Mehdi

so, the past like 3 days have sucked. ran really bad at 1/2(was being spewy too, calling people down way too light), then started playing well again, and managed to get out of my rut since ive started playing 1/2 and made some monies. I made about 2k yeasterday, 1400 at 1/2 and a buyin at 1/3 deep. I actually owned some random dude fish for 2 buyins at 1/2 HU, then he decided to sit with me, carrot and the fish at 1/3. Well, I ended up stacking him there too. Thx for the 1k fishy. Ran into a tricky hand in the 1/3 deep session:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/informatio...1_3_Deep_vs_Carrotsnake_and_fi...html

Last night I broke my last mouse. This has been 2 this week, 3 this month. I need to get something else to apesmash when im angry/high. Suggestions?

Im going to buy the MX Revolution today. I also need a copy of windows for my damn macbook so I can run pstars.

Tonight I have to play KenTheCow HU for this 2+2 HU tournament they ran. Winning this will take me to the semi's and guarantee me about 1.5k. If not I take home 750 which isnt too bad. Ken is a solid player, I have been talkin a lot with him on AIM. I think this could be a really tough match, even though he says HU isnt his best game at all. Im looking forward to the match.

Im izzouuut, hollllaaaa
