Standard by tachyonweb, November 19

Well I've been playing some 100NL HU just for fun. I'm probably underrolled, but whatever. I'll learn my lesson soon enough. I played this guy for an hour. After 5 mins he asked me to leave because I "knew what I was doing" and thus he didn't feel he had an edge. Against all logic, I politely declined and he sat out for a while before coming back as another incarnation of himself. One that was really bad at trash talking. So after an hour, I had to leave to study (which I'm clearly doing now).

LostOn5thst: hit and run
Dealer: Hand #4233791764 has been canceled
LostOn5thst: what a pussy
tachyonweb: dude
tachyonweb: i'm not playing anymore
LostOn5thst: k then gtfo
tachyonweb: you don't have to show your lack of intellect anymore
tachyonweb: -_-
LostOn5thst: congrats on the buy in im still up 2
tachyonweb: just cuz i like you
tachyonweb: i'll watch you and your huge stack
tachyonweb: until i can't stand it anymore
LostOn5thst: a statement cant confirm any stronger that you have
no life
tachyonweb: true
tachyonweb: not much life in med school
LostOn5thst: I have about 10 friends in med school and they have a
life
tachyonweb: i see
tachyonweb: and what do you do?
LostOn5thst: hospitality managment major
tachyonweb: then you should definitely have a life
LostOn5thst: care to play 1/2 doc?

Wow, someone thought I was important enough to challenge to a heads up match at higher stakes. Unfortunately I once again had to politely decline. To study you see. Maybe next time.

I've finally figured it out! by JoeDeertay, November 19

I've finally realized the reason for my hero play and tilt issues that have been killing me for the last month: I've been RESULTS ORIENTED!!!

I know I always promote NOT being results oriented, and I'm usually not when playing hands regarding who wins or loses the hand...or so I thought. It just came to the that I make the high-variance hero type plays in marginal situations because I end up thinking to myself, "If I win this pot, I'll have THAT much more money and I'll be THAT much closer to moving up." Basically, I have been trying to win too much too fast, and I've been trying to force the issue by trying to win more pots than I should be. Also, like I said before, when I end up losing these hands I just go on tilt because I think I am stupid for putting myself in a spot to lose that much money, and then I just start spewing.

But no more! Now that I know the reason for all of this, I can stop doing it and get back on my grind and win like I was before, when I wasn't time crunched to win money or anything like that. Even though I need to at least cashout $100 a month to pay for my citation (for like the next 4 months or so), that shouldn't really be that hard at all. If I get a job when I get back to school like I plan to I shouldn't even need to cashout.

Now that my head is clear of all the shit that was in it, I'm much more focused on playing solid and not trying to force things, and this should lead to much less tilt and hopefully a much higher winrate...and poker will also be much more fun. Watch out micro-stakes...here I come!

The "epic hu" by CrownRoyal, November 19

So last night at like 2am I notice neilly is posting hands, and for the comical value I start checking them and I notice he is playing HU.

I'm a bit underrolled to be playing nl50 hu (750 br) but I think I have a considerable edge against neilly so i decide to let myself lose $100 to neilly as my limit and other than that play to take his br.

Neilly is sitting at 4 nl50 HU tables and they are all full, so I join the waiting list on all 4 of them and watch him.

Neilly is literally 3betting every other hand oop and calling 4bets with any two suited cards vs people with $30 stacks and shit so I'm feeling pretty confident.

I get one table opened up against him and start abusing the fact that he multitabling and stuff. My next table opens and I decide that I can make maximum $/hr against him two tabling. I'm crushing neilly and we are 150 bb deep on both tables. Neilly had $250+ on each table to begin with so obviously it was my goal to reverse all of that. I hit a sick heater and soon after I suckout on him twice and im sitting with $300 on both tables. Neilly then goes into uber tilt mode and I'm just raping him everywhere with solid tight play and sick thin valuebets, 2nd pair was good enough vs his maniac style. I get neilly down about 750 and he has to start closing his other tables to continue playing and I consider stopping because I would feel genuinely bad taking his whole BR but with all of LP watching and stuff I continued to play. At one point I was up 890 dollars on neilly which is absolutely sick and I wish I woulda stopped at that point.

I really dont know why you guys all felt compelled to obs that match, or why it was epic. Maybe you guys think we are both jokes or something. That's pretty embarassing to me and my ego but whatever.

Anyways, neilly got his heater as well and sucked out on me for $600 or so and I left up $300 which was actually under my pokerEV graph by about $100 but it's ok because i still turned a pretty nice profit running at 25ptbb/100.

I hope he sits at the tables in the future as well.

ONLINE POKER IS RIGGED!!! by jkpickett, November 19

Of course I'm only kidding, but I'm not gonna lie, the thought did cross my mind after this hand for about a split second. I had been chasing this guy's stack all day and he was beating me up pretty good early in the session. i had won the last few hands consecutively including one where he checkraised the river only to fold to my shove. i guess he's making a stand. what are you to do, but reload and keep chasing his ever increasing stack. what a game we play!!!!!

Confidence = Shot by SeanBam, November 19

card dead.. shot confidence.. don't know what to do.

I tried playing more aggressive post flop. Double barreling more, and betting heavy on scary draws to get a fold. And it has been working, I feel as though that was a leak in my game was check / folding after I raise preflop and I miss.

However, I still feel as though nothing is hitting for me, and everytime I have a big hand I have that thought that I'm going to either be drawn out, or the other guy is on a draw so I have to reraise big, thus taking away my chances of the opponent calling down with a marginal hand.

I just don't know what to do anymore.

Tilt draining my energy by Oddeye, November 19

I had finally been doing good for a little while, played focused but it happened again. I started running total crap and losing and losing, I am down 1.2k (to 6.5k ), that being 400$ HU NL50 and 800$ NL200. NL200 beats were pretty damn annoying, all happened in like 200 hands, KK vs AA, AA vs JJ, AA vs 55, TT vs AK (all 3 bets pot) but I've def been playing too tight, it's just seems to be better yet but maybe it's why I'm only getting action into cooler situation.

The HU part was pretty weird, I don't know much yet about HU but I mostly lost when I played a tight opponent, he folded all the time and it made me tilt so I started betting like crazy and donked 2 buyins vs him. Other than that I am pretty sure all I lost HU were pretty gross beats, people joining my table, betting recklessly and getting lucky then leaving.

Once again I wish the week didn't start so bad so I could have started thinking about something else but ain't gonna happen I guess. Hopefully the wind will change and it'll go good again but until then I'll be pissed (hopefully not spewing).

Preflop raise...Ugh by T8Suited, November 19

2 weeks in review:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2038/2046454637_e558d0744f_o.jpg

I just can't properly incorporate PFR into my game.

Never open limp. Raise all PP from any position. 3-bet with a wider range.

I tried many times. It didn't work. Pure spew.

Therefore I am reverting back to my old style:
[x] Run 20/8 preflop
[x] Play against passive regulars
[x] Avoid big pots with 1-pair hands OOP
[x] Make sharp postflop decisions
[x] Profit

I know stretching a PTBB of 9 (which I achieved after my first 20k hands) over 100k hands would be far-fetched. So how about 6? I am @ 5.9 over 80k right now.

Some memorable moments from the past week

Nov 15/16 Late night. Eventful night. Run like shiet for most of the night, and then made 3 BIs against regs at the same table over 6 hands (stacked another regular within another orbit)

These hands made me want to cry:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317005 QJd Standing up against a crap-pulling opponent
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317007 AK Ace-high vs megadonk good til river
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317009 QQ 2-outer
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317011 AK AIPF, outflopped

+3 Buy-ins within 6 hands
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317014 22 +$40 without seeing flop
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317015 KTc Good board well played
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317016 T9c Same opponent. Brutal board but 2-pairs held (although I later gave it back to him with a poorly played set).
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317017 QQ Notice the chat. Some dude is jealous.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317019 K2c An orbit later. Set no good

Nov 16 evening. Winningest session ever. Not many memorable hands. Just many small to medium pots. Remarkable hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/316963 AJd Ugh
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/316964 JJ Chaser got there
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/316965 22 Sweet pot
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/316966 KQ Not exactly a fistpump river shove but I was good.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/316968 KK Overzealous opponent
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317038 84c My favourite crap hand

Nov 18-19 late night:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317951 73 BB special
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/318046 99 Wierdly played. Can't question result.

HOLDED A SECOND TIME by Rush, November 19

Right after milkman won a seat to the Million, I started playing the DS to it. I was already half on life tilt and angry. Ez ship the seat to help me break even.

BTW - My apartment is the most degen place in the world. Yomer sitting on his ass high all day playing D2, my friend who doesn't live here has slept on my couch the last 2 weeks, and Milkman has been here for the last week. It also has tons of empty beer bottles, broken chairs, no
dishes that are clean and too many empty fast food containers to count.

We Americans Got to Get Our Fast Food! by jkpickett, November 18

So I'm running some errands today and I look over and see a pretty incredible sight. I only had my camera phone available so the clarity is lacking, but it's two incredibly obese old women on motorized carts ordering fast food! It just got me thinking how fucked up Americans diets are. Do any of you UK guys run into similar scenarios abroad???
