March by sTrAtO, March 03

March has started good so far. Was $800 up at some point but made some very stupid plays and lost a couple of buyins. Putting that aside, I feel awesome, doomswitch free :D. Gonna put in a few hours tonight to watch CR videos to avoid making bad plays/calls.

I feel this is going to be a good month.

Support my city by the way please:

Thanks

I own bigtime :D by Kapol, March 03

Ship! I made to to the top 64 in the billiards tourney I was writing about in my previous entry! Obv I lost the very first match the next day and finished 33rd . Gained a lot of confidence and motivation to train even harder thanks to this achievement.
Here are my group results (I'm Kapka):

suicide by Ezekiell, March 03

This will be short. I'm on the worst downswing i've ever had. I lost 12 buyins on NL25. I had 8 PTBB over 40k hands, and after 55k hands, i have like 1.7? I lost all my confidence, i dont know what to do. I dont have a bakroll for NL25 ffs now, i have to move down. I dont think i will be able to beat NL10... I spew a bit, as i review my play, but Lee obviously put a sign on me. My favourites: flopped quads vs turned better quads, pf allin KK vs 56o /guy runner-runners his straight/, every coinflip lost, and the last hand of todays session: BB vs SB, AA vs AQ pf allin for 3 buyins, the motherfucker flopped fuckin quads. I'm going to take a break, like a week, move down, and if this continues, i will kill myself...

Better luck to everyone!

Boy was I wrong. by Fox, March 03

So up to ufc 82 keanu/myself/naz were all talking about the hendo anderson fight.

I kept going both ways but finally last second switched to hendo. This is how close the fight was to me. Anderson has weaknesses on the ground but they are few. If a strong wrestler can get top position anderson lacks the core strength to do anything and he can get pounded out. However his technique and length allow him to find aways to escape. First round hendo showed why he's got the skill to pound him. But 2nd round showed a few things. One anderson doesn't get passive when he's hurt he gets mad and takes the fight right back at you. He came out 2nd round with guns blazing and looked like a sniper ready to fire. Two after he caught hendo with a knee and didn't let up and finished him on the ground.

Anderson has that ability to finish a fighter at any given moment. There are only like 2-3 fighters in the world who have that kind of ability. BJ penn/Crocop/Gomi. They at any notice when given an opening will crush you and it's not a suprise that they are 3 of the most feared humans on earth. However all three only finish you in one manner. Anderson can finish you standing or on the ground which is nuts! Keanu and i agree his overall ground game is top 5 at 185. While he's weak to wrestlers he has no issues against bjj fighters and his bjj is strong enough to finish anyone if he gets top position (ala big nog who's top 2 at top position finishing at HW fedor being the other)

So I lost a bet to naz on this. Now i have to enter a grappling competition by the end of the month and have video/pictures of it. To keanu I just get to hear about it everyday for a month now which is almost as bad.

Okami is the only guy who i think can win. Okami's style is exactly how i fight now and i love him! Even though i'm super bias to him i don't know how he can get close enough to anderson to secure a takedown. But in a 5 round fight i think he has a chance. I don't know if it's a better chance then henderson but he can do it. I just hope that if he does take the title from anderson that he finishes him and continues to finish fights. No one wants a tim sylvia boring champion. I see this with anderson finishing him with strikes standing either by ko or finishing him on the ground with strikes. Okami better train super hard and get his hands to level up a few times before he can even begin to think he can take spider.

Other then that was a pretty fun card. the serra/gsp card i'm not too excited about but the bj/sherk card... well.. ROFL OF COURSE.

relaxed monday by PplusAD, March 03

This weekend was the one were i put in most hands in my poker career ever.

I played ~ 7 K hands ( saturday + sunday 6 tabling sh )

I ve always had a problem putting in many hands ...
normally i start to get bored after ~ 700 hands ( 4 tabling)

i never ever played that much before
i am proud that i pulled of 2x 3,5 K hand days.

results were pretty medicore though since at first i didnt adapt my style to the weekend gamblers who simply call with bottom pair and any draws till river.
secondly i played some hands very subotimal ....

I still made some money
not much , but my bankroll grows every day

Overall i am up + 110€ ( 168$) since 1march.

Here is my monday session doing 1hour relaxed 2 tabling on Nl20€

Staking into 3k Euro tourney by Joe, March 03

I would to like to play in the main event of Spring Poker Festival in Vienna. The tournament is a 3000 + 150 Euro (= cca $4800) NLHE freezeout. It starts in 8 days from now (tue March 11).

The thing is, that I am not completely comfortable paying the whole 3k Euro myself, so I am looking to sell part of the action.
I would like to sell at least 40%, at most 70%. I am selling 2% shares at 75/25 (meaning for every 2% share you buy you make 75% of the profits on your 2% - inspired by rnbsalsa ). The price of 1 share (2%) is $96 (or 63 Euro).

Quick summary:
Tournament: $4800 NLHE freezeout
Date: starts March 11
Place: Concord Card Casino, Vienna, Austria
Price of 1 share (2%): $96

As for my tournament poker skills and accomplishments - eventhough I am primarily a cash game player (my main game is NLHE 6-max $2/$4 to $5/$10), I am somewhat up on online tournaments as well.

My top online tournament scores are:
1st place in $10+rebuy tournament for $2,880
2nd place in Daily Fifty Grand ($55 NLHE freezeout) for cca $3,800
1st place in an APPT Sydney satellite for a package worth $9,000.

I play live tournaments way more often than online. I play about 3 tournaments a week in a local casino. Of course these are minor events with like 20-25 players in it. My success rate in these tournaments is pretty solid, but I dont have exact stats to tell you of course. (I think I made it to the money (top 3 usually) about 7-8 times out of last 15 tournaments.)

My MSN is j.samanek@seznam.cz if you want to talk about it more.

The beginning of the grind. by OnlineWizard, March 03

Hey what's up guys? My name is Shawn, 22 years old, from Chicago, IL. I have been playing poker for 4 years online and live. I have mainly played on stars and full tilt. I profited 5600 over 8 months of play online last year playing cash games, sngs, and a few multi table sngs. I have recently only been playing live, but would like to get back into the online. I am setting a goal of turning 20$ into 500 in the month of March. I will be doing this by first starting off at sngs and then cash games once I reach the 200 mark. I will try to update my blog as much as possible with updates as to how I am doing with reaching the goal. I hope everyone the best. Wish me luck. I would appreciate any input as to how to get there within the 30 days this month, any suggestions just reply, thanks a lot

good and bad news by Big_Rob_48, March 03

So here are my stats from February:

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/2285/feb08yt5.jpg

Pretty much close to my best month ever.

The bad news:

I have been having some health problems lately, and I went to the doctor and he said it wasn't an infection or anything, but likelier it was stress induced symptoms. So I have taken a week off of poker so far and I am feeling a lot better...

So I don't know what to do because i love poker and i want it to make me tons of money but its so hard with school and everything. I am just going to take all of march off and relax, and hopefully try to come back to poker with the ability to relax and have fun. I want to have a 40k month one of these days i hope.

Feb<<< by sooon2b, March 02

February wasn't to bad until Feb 29th. I was up 25 buy ins over about 18k hands, and obviously last day of the month I go on a nice little downswing of 13 buy ins in 3k hands(a few were spew do to frustrating). I think I played well for the most part, but I should not have played that day. I played because of the whole double points deal. ugh.

Anyways. So far march is going pretty well. I have only played about 1500 hands so far, but i'm up 5bi which isn't bad. I am hoping to play 40k hands this month(actually 50k would be nice due to spring break), and hoping to profit >50bi. This should allow me to move up next month. I am hoping to be back in the 2/4 games full time by June, but we'll see.

Regardless of the downswing last month, I really started improving, and understanding the game better. I recieved a great, and also somewhat depressing comment from a 5/10+HU regular, that said with my understanding of the game from the hands of his I looked over, I should be playing much much higher(higher than him, heh.) I guess thats good that I have a good understanding of the game, but maybe I am just not applying it? Who knows, either way this month will go much better than last month(I hope).

As far as everything else in my life goes, its all going fairly well. I should be getting my A.D.D. meds this Tuesday, which will help tremendously for poker. School is going really well, hopefully will have a gpa > 3.75 considering I am actually trying. I am still debating if I want to take classes this summer, I suppose it will depend on how poker goes and if I decide to head out to Vegas for a few weeks. I am also thinking of minoring in Philosophy. I really like Philosophy a lot. We'll see though.

Thats all for now, gl peace out girls scouts, holla etc etc

Pat

Fired by NotSorry, March 02

Back Story: Been doing the graveyard Freight shift for a company chain. Last week I was set to work 7days in a row, after due to my error, I only worked 6.

Had 3days off then I came in to night and was told, "you voluntarily quit, go home."

I really don't know what I'm going to do now. The money itself wasn't an issue, but I just lost the insurance benefits for my family. Completely lost now.

50/100, Poker shape by franchise, March 02

OK so this past month I was insta up 200k+, then decided I had no motivation to play poker, then "refocussed" then apparently not as I am down multiple buyins and generally unhappy with my play. Here's a real disappointing graph of Feb:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c85af071957fd4efe952648cde2f3e27.jpg

Technically since i'm up 10k on stars which is not reflected in this graph, I made my first 100k month. It is now what i expect out of my next few months until I make a run at the nosebleeds.
I am not the type to be complaining about making such money in one month, but I am the type to be overly critical of my play and pissed when I am not winning. I effectively had a 15k hand breakeven streak which is super super I can't even describe how frustrating, and of course I'm thinking of ways to improve some aspect of my life that will hopefully help my poker game. So, I've come up with getting into better shape. Technically cliche, because every internet poker stud reps this, but I am beginning to realize the importance of this. So this month I am going to try to get back into shape for the first time in 3 years. This hopefully will a) get me on a semi-routine schedule as I have been going to bed between 4-8am and waking up at 1-5pm the past week or 2, and b) help my focus during long, difficult sessions. Outwardly I don't appear to be in bad shape but it's getting close. Time to choose life, I suppose.

I haven't posted any hand recently, because I'm lazy or havn't had any noteworthy sessions...so here are some selects:

Staker wanted. Few 4/180s by jase, March 02

I've played 6 of these and broken even, iop staked me for 5 of them previously and I managed to break even over all of them, was the first time I've really played anything bigger than a 18man SNG. If anyone is interested in staking me for even two of these I'd give 40% profit back.

I want to start playing these consistently but at the moment my roll is only at $120 so I need to grind the 1/18s for a while longer before I can do it. With a stake hopefully I can boost my roll and make some money for you and I to get me closer to playing these.

PM me if you're interested

March 2nd: -1.7k
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/5ff99b6e767ea7491a0bb4acc57bc277.jpg

Back to 200 I go I guess.
Some general thoughts about 400 regs compared to 200:
- seem to get involved in 3bet situations a lot less, prolly means 200 ppls are a hell of a lot more spewy
- seem to stack off so so so much lighter compared to 200
- somewhat tighter than 200 regs (wtf?)

I played much looser at 400 than I did at 100 or 200NL in comparison simply because people seem to be perfectly fine with letting you walk all over their blinds. Is this a trend that you 400 ballers have picked up or is my sample size too small?

Some of the regs I played with and stats:
Jem87 - 26.5/23
Dazarath - 18/15
HT-Max - 22.8/18.4
umpa21 - 16.5/14
tatatunes - nit/nit/nit (does it matter? sexuelity of 400?)
fistdantilus - 15/11
ajfennewald - 23/19
ronaldo500 - nit/nit/nit
Xaston - 23/19

From this list, Jem ran like God, Dazareth thinks I'm a spewy donk station, thats about it I think.

I'll take another shot at 400 hmm... maybe late March. School sucks

WSOP Main Event time! by TheHuHu, March 02

PStars is rolling out qualifiers up the ass now for the Main Event. My question is, if you win a satellite to the ME, is it like T$ where you can sell it like a satellite to the Sunday Mil?

Good start by SakiSaki, March 02

March is starting out great. I have spent most of my sunday being incredibly hung over but I have managed to get some hands in anyways. For the next couple of weeks I will only have to be in school like 2 days a week which is awesome. I will have alot of time to work out and play poker and Im really looking forward to it. Im way to lazy to fix my computer yet so Im still playing on my laptop. I think its good though, I only play 4 tables of 6-max and it helps getting reads and stuff. Usually I try to play one or two HU tables and given that the tables are pretty slow I can play a couple of 6-max games at the same time.

So far Im still tearing up the HU tables pretty bad. Im really interested to see what kind of winrate I will land on over a large sample of hands.

http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/7176/mars1aa8.jpg

I managed to break my glasses last week and that really sucks. I usually wear contacts but after staring at the screen for a couple of hours my vision gets blurry and shit and eventually I have to stop.

BLEH!
