mixed emotions by nolan, June 08

Well, we'll start with the best news:

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/5048/hooraykn8.jpg

BOO FUCKING YEAH SHIP HOORAY WAHOO.

I had runner-up'd a bunch of steps prior to this and was almost about to throw in the towel but I lucksacked one time and didn't lose my races. I just feel so happy about this. In a way it's the culmination of like five years of work, as when anyone in the USA starts poker they usually do it dreaming of the day they play in the big dance with Brunson and them. Although that's romanticized and not nearly what it will be like, this is just huge for me in general as a poker player overall.

Kudos to CamilaPunt on LP, we were deep in it together and he pulled through as well. I'm heading to Vegas in late June and will probably stay until the end of the ME.

I'll probably bump this again but I am looking to sell up to 50% of myself in 1% increments, so if anyone is interested in getting their gamb00l on shoot me a PM.

The bad news is my cousin who was in the military recently passed due to results of an injury he sustained during the conflict. He was only 25 and had previously lived with my family for quite some time so it's really hitting close to home. I had him in mind through much of the tournament and really feel like I owe it to him to make the most of this opportunity and really get out there and do it. He just had a child and I was actually planning to visit them in Texas before the ME, so this is truly a mix of emotions for me. For those who believe in such things, if you could say a small prayer for my family I would really appreciate it.

Can't wait for my Summer class to end so I can get out there and really do it.

Thanks LP I really owe much of this luck and success to this community, no BS.

Guess that's it, Got an exam in 6 hours .

Booo.

Fun with bad runs by lazymej, June 08

Had a shitty session tonight. Played about 1k hands and lost 4 buyins (was looking to keep increasing my roll so I can keep up with my campaign to move up in stakes), but that was just not happening for my tonight. I just decided to call it quits. I'm tired anyway.

Went to go watch the F1 race in Montreal today. It was my first time ever, and I always wanted to go watch a race. All I can say is it was SICK SICK SICK. Seriously, it was absolutely unreal. I used to watch the races every weekend and it's just a totally different experience when you're there. The only thing is if you don't have an awesome spot you won't know what the hell is going on. But seeing those cars whiz by makes it fine by me. They're so much faster than they look on tv. Awesome day and I tanned a few shades lol.

So I finally got PT3 (trail version hehe) so I can now make graphs. I've seen everyone posting theirs, so I'll contribute as well. I was talking to a friend and showed him this and he thinks it's really good. I just thought it was mediocre at best (I haven't really compared it to other graphs so idk). He said I should post this as a brag so here I am haha.

Out of Shape by Jonvee, June 08

Man.. I don't know what's wrong with me. I guess I'm feeling the affects of playing ONLINE POKER...

For the last week or so I've been feeling extremely tired - always wanting to sleep. The last few days of poker have gone well. I've had to play shorter sessions because my focus just isn't there. I wanted to play somewhere between 1500-2500k hands a day, but lately I've only managed to but in about 700.

My lack of energy I believe has badly influenced my play near the end of sessions. I end up making a bone head plays which causes me to TILT (luckily for me when I tilt I tend to leave the table).

Poker is going pretty well, I can't complain. I feel as if I'm not learning anything new; but hey what can you do when you're stuck playing at NL25.

I re-started my NL25 and my stats are decent:
http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/9711/stats4jl2.jpg

Yah..Ok I need to get PT3...but I mean I don't really need it right now.

I'll play 15k more hands. I can actually take a shot at NL50.

I'm starting my new workout routine tomorrow. I got it planned out..now all I have to do is implement the damn thing.

Hopefully my increased physical activity will help my focus.

Monkey TILT by C Huuustle, June 08

SO about a week ago i moved up to 50NL. Since then i've been going up and down non-stop. Im still trying to get use to these stakes. I think im tilting again even tho i never tilted at 25NL. I think that its because having more money on the tables and being able to lose more money and faster. I just finished a session down 130. I took 2 bad beats and lose a coin flip and ended up down 150. Then i felt like i tilted by being super aggressive. I actually made back a bit and decided to call it quits at that point. I cant stand the variance at 50NL compared to 25NL. Oh well, tomorrows gonna be another day...

Longest, hardest grind of my life. by eightfourO, June 08

I grinded it out for about 3 hrs the other night after i got home from work. It was pretty intense. I took a normal 20 year old's room and turned it into the most amazing room ever. Got all my nice hats on display, got the poker set out and ready to go if i so need it, got the bed made... the usual... Dusted the living shit out of it... sniped about 50,000,000,000,000,000 dust bunnies with my vacuum, but the room is now nice as pocket As on an A A A flop. yes, thats right, my room is 5 of a kind. Quints biatch. ur quad K, no good. Know what the best part was?? I found so many things, including a paintball gun, some money, an ipod, and something i have no clue what it is, but it has a baseball and a glove attached to springs and you wear it on your head???

Oh yeah and this is like the coolest video of a camel spider vs. a scorpion. Camel Spiders are the little bastards the troops have to deal with in Iraq. This one is a small one, they are about the size of your leg.

Haven't been doing too well in teh poker world lately. grinded it out for an hour and a half today and won 3 bucks on 4 10nl and 2 5nl tables. Pretty lame... :/ Pretty tired so i'm going to bed...

lame post, i know, but i'll do an exciting one next time...

OH WAIT! i have a story!!! NEVERMIND!!!!!!!!!!!

So i fell for the biggest bluff of my life 2 nights ago. It's 4 in the morning and i am with my buddy Moffa and this chick that i met that night, and we're hittin it off pretty good, and shes all like so lets go into the back my truck and smash, so i'm like "well i'm not gay, so lets go". and shes like "well what about Moffa?" and i reply "LEAVE MOFFA, heres my keys, take the car to my house and she'll give me a ride". and he's like seriously and i'm like seriously get the fuck out of here. so he leaves and drive around and comes back and we are in the back of her truck and i'm like lighting the candles and playing the barry white in the CD player. So she's like "omg he came back" and he calls me and is like "are u really gunna smash" and i look and her and i ask "he wants to know if we're really gunna bang" and she says "yes, tell him to leave" and so shit i was like yes leave don't worry about me. She even told me to take the condom out of the wrapper and throw it out the window for moffa to see... anyway we start talking and like 40 minutes of me having a boner b/c i'm ready to smash she tells me she's a virgin and saving it for marriage. fuckin needs to be a poker player b/c she's good at bluffing. i fell for it, and it was the most embarassing thing ever, i was about to whip it out when she was like "nope". wow.

ahh it sux0rz.

June :/ by SakiSaki, June 08

June is meh, I finally finished school and that was awesome. Havent really played as much as I wanted to though been way to lazy lately. Im starting to make the transition into 5/10, or rather, I was starting the transition but today fucked me big time.

I was up a couple of k for june and feeling pretty confident i sat down with this random guy HU. We played for a while and he seemed kinda bad, not terrible just to tight and transparent. He asked for 2 tabling and I accepted. Soon though all hell broke loose. So standard right?

I didnt get super bad beated much but nothing went my way and I played pretty bad. Actually, thinking about it, I played really fucking bad. Even though I lost around 3k to him in just preflop flips all in all I made some terrible misstakes. I shoved Q7 once pf pretty deep with little fold equity, I 3-bet way to much and I made one dumb calldown I can recall.

Anyways, dropped I think 6k to the guy before instaquiting(I have a stoploss at 5 buyins but lost a 200bb pot just before I left) and that means Im actually down $800 for the month.

Anyways, lesson learned. I have really been killing 3/6 lately and I feel superconfident playing there so I will stick to doing that all through June and give 5/10 another shot in July or so.

Rant over. Dont play bad kids.

Want to quit by Big_Rob_48, June 08

So after running at 7.2 ptbb for 110k hands at 200 nl, my current streak is:

65k hands at .16 ptbb or (+2 buyins) .... considering stars bonuses it still pans out to like $46 an hour for me but I dont know, I just hate poker now. I want to make 100k more in this game and get out ASAP. It makes my life way less enjoyable for now.... maybe I will feel otherwise when I am out of school in a year, but for now its just too much.

Anybody else want to quit? I dunno, I dont really enjoy the game at all anymore, its all about the money. I always felt I never had the ambition or skill set to be a 1knl or higher stakes player anyway. If poker was my job or the only thing I had to do every day then it would be different. But for now, a year and a half of poker being purely free time activities outside of my other obligations has grinded myself into someone who doesn't enjoy himself as much as he used to.

I can probably already tell that I am underestimating the worth of the hourly wage I make playing poker (I THINK I am at least a 4 ptbb winrate winner at 200 nl long run... so like $160-$220 an hour ballpark). But I dont care, whats real now is that I want to have more free time to spend having fun and not worrying about asking myself the question "hmmm.... should I play poker or not?" everytime I finally get the chance to relax.

StarWars-Hilarious by k2o4, June 08

On a more serious political note... All of us that have spent a little time doing McCain research have heard about the wife he left because she was in a car accident. But most people don't bother to do the research. So I'm going to do my own little part to try and get the word out there by posting about it in all my blogs.

McCain likes to illustrate his moral fibre by referring to his five years as a prisoner-of-war in Vietnam. And to demonstrate his commitment to family values, the 71-year-old former US Navy pilot pays warm tribute to his beautiful blonde wife, Cindy, with whom he has four children.

But there is another Mrs McCain who casts a ghostly shadow over the Senator’s presidential campaign. She is seldom seen and rarely written about, despite being mother to McCain’s three eldest children.

And yet, had events turned out differently, it would be she, rather than Cindy, who would be vying to be First Lady. She is McCain’s first wife, Carol, who was a famous beauty and a successful swimwear model when they married in 1965.

She was the woman McCain dreamed of during his long incarceration and torture in Vietnam’s infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’ prison and the woman who faithfully stayed at home looking after the children and waiting anxiously for news.

But when McCain returned to America in 1973 to a fanfare of publicity and a handshake from Richard Nixon, he discovered his wife had been disfigured in a terrible car crash three years earlier. Her car had skidded on icy roads into a telegraph pole on Christmas Eve, 1969. Her pelvis and one arm were shattered by the impact and she suffered massive internal injuries.

When Carol was discharged from hospital after six months of life-saving surgery, the prognosis was bleak. In order to save her legs, surgeons

had been forced to cut away huge sections of shattered bone, taking with it her tall, willowy figure. She was confined to a wheelchair and was forced to use a catheter.

Through sheer hard work, Carol learned to walk again. But when John McCain came home from Vietnam, she had gained a lot of weight and bore little resemblance to her old self.

Today, she stands at just 5ft4in and still walks awkwardly, with a pronounced limp. Her body is held together by screws and metal plates and, at 70, her face is worn by wrinkles that speak of decades of silent suffering.

For nearly 30 years, Carol has maintained a dignified silence about the accident, McCain and their divorce. But last week at the bungalow where she now lives at Virginia Beach, a faded seaside resort 200 miles south of Washington, she told The Mail on Sunday how McCain divorced her in 1980 and married Cindy, 18 years his junior and the heir to an Arizona brewing fortune, just one month later.

Click here for the full story

This seems to just be one of the many places where McCain's supposed "strong moral fiber" and "character" will be shown to be a sham. I personally always liked him and had a high opinion of him until this year, when he suddenly flipped all of his positions so that he could match up with Bush and the conservatives. It's sad to see a guy who used to stand up for what he believes in no matter what the consequences start kissing the ass of any crazy right wing nutcase just so he can become president. The only change McCain seems to know about these days is how to change his opinion to match Bush's.

On a personal level, I'm gonna make a blog post with some pics and a full update soon.

first big NL100 session by PplusAD, June 08

1,455 K hands so far in ~ 3 hours straight play at Nl100 6max
- 84$ so far
playing 21/18/4

running about 150$ below equity
also all my bluffs failed ( evertime i repped tha hand my villian had >-<)

but everything is fine
I will take like 1 hour break now and then play like a 2h session to make some profits before Germany vs Poland starts.

I really had a lot of fun playing Nl100 today
Its so much more fun than Nl50 <3

I think Nl100 is definitely a bit harder than Nl50 since people choose much better spots for agressive play.
Still i am positive i have an edge on NL100 that is big enough to make more money then i would continuing Nl50

I made a lot of mistakes today + had some bad luck and i am still + $ in equity and only ~ -1 buy in in net results after 1,445 hands.

GL all

MTL by royalsu, June 08

Montreal is awesome as always. It's the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend so traffic is hell downtown but I've just been chilling with family ignoring the mayhem. Yesterday my bro tien, cousin oba, and me went to the casino to play the new touch screen video poker games. The rake is a retarded 10% up to 5$ and I unfortunately drew a nitty live full ring table. Uggg. We had 4 way limped pots that were checked down. I ended down 300$ from shipping it in with 35s on a A56 flushdraw board. The only significant pot I won was with KK against a 50$ shortstack. The games are definitely fishy though; examples include a guy bluffing a dry sidepot with KJ on a A84 board with no draw, a girl flatting the river with the nuts (she had 11$ left and never bet once all session, only called). This older guy from Arizona with a 1k stack tried to hit on her:

old guy: "I bet Diamond (her screenname) is not your real name."
she just ignored him...later on her french bf came by.

my bro made an easy 150ish playing on a softer table. The poker room is built like a dance club, with a chic bar in the middle of the room and almost no lighting in the whole room.

Update: In vegas + first event by thewh00sel, June 07

Well we're in vegas and settled in. One thing I've noticed since moving here a week ago is that this city is like the easiest city ever to drive in. Everything's easy to find + never any traffic. I like. But anyways, I played my first wsop event today (the $2,500 nlhe) and it was alright. Starting with 5k in chips i found myself at 30 bb's fairly quickly but I managed to hang around for a few levels. Got AA twice and no action and then when i was down around 5500 at 150/300/25 ante EP big stack opened and I reshipped TT and lost the flip to AQ, standard stuff. My table wasn't too difficult and I didn't recognize anyone. There were 2 younger internet guys but they were meh. One a little lagtarded and the other far too nitty. The lagtarded one obv managed to lucksack a couple standard hands, like the 2nd hand jimmy fricke was at my table the lagtard's JJ outraced gobbo's QQ.

Anyways, I saw a few of LP's finest (Myth/cosmo and some others) chatting when I was on the phone during a break and didn't manage to say hi, but hopefully I'll be able to chat it up with you guys later on. bye.
