Want to quit

So after running at 7.2 ptbb for 110k hands at 200 nl, my current streak is:

65k hands at .16 ptbb or (+2 buyins) .... considering stars bonuses it still pans out to like $46 an hour for me but I dont know, I just hate poker now. I want to make 100k more in this game and get out ASAP. It makes my life way less enjoyable for now.... maybe I will feel otherwise when I am out of school in a year, but for now its just too much.

Anybody else want to quit? I dunno, I dont really enjoy the game at all anymore, its all about the money. I always felt I never had the ambition or skill set to be a 1knl or higher stakes player anyway. If poker was my job or the only thing I had to do every day then it would be different. But for now, a year and a half of poker being purely free time activities outside of my other obligations has grinded myself into someone who doesn't enjoy himself as much as he used to.

I can probably already tell that I am underestimating the worth of the hourly wage I make playing poker (I THINK I am at least a 4 ptbb winrate winner at 200 nl long run... so like $160-$220 an hour ballpark). But I dont care, whats real now is that I want to have more free time to spend having fun and not worrying about asking myself the question "hmmm.... should I play poker or not?" everytime I finally get the chance to relax.

i feel the same, poker is hella boring these days. I just do it for the money too. Im probably gonna get out of grinding poker in 1 year or less and have my own business with the money i save up soon. Games are probably gonna be dead in 1 year without another boom.I know i can still make a good buck playing poker but its just not enjoyable anymore.

Yeah lostaccount, totally feel ya. My bro was talking about how opening a Jimmy John's sub shop costs like 300k but they are hella profitable... sounds like something I'd want to do with my money.

nolan there are other options out there better than poker with the money im going to have in 1year. I also dont mind making less than what i make at poker as long as it more stable and more fun. Can you really rely on poker for the rest of your life?? there must be a point where you will have to do something besides poker.

Big_Rob_48 i guarantee you would be playing 600nl if you believed in yourself even for one second. Playing 4 tables at once i guarantee you would be up more with the time you spend grinding 65k hands at 0.16 ptbb/100. Slap yourself in the face and move up, get better and demolish higher stakes. Mindless grinding without adrenaline wears you out. The game doesn't offer you anything i imagine. Break free man BREAK FREE !
i remember you from stars or ftp i don't remember but i was a lowstakes grinder and moving up to 400nl 600nl and now to 1knl i feel like having made the best decision in my so called poker career.
The only thing that is dying are your brains. The games are not dead nor will they be. As long as people have money on the table and cards are being dealt you can outplay your opponent.

Rob these breakeven swings happen and they suck dick. Just know you are a winner man and that things will turn around. Keep your head up.

i think you should probably quit permanently, and if you do ever play again, only do it when schools over. no point in making one of the easiest ways to make money boring or a grind. its kinda like what nolan said, thats like shitting on all the ppl from cameroon and what not that grind out 14 hour days of subsistence farming to stay alive.

I hear ya Cariadon, I have tried to 4 table and stuff and focus but it just doesn't help me play better, the only thing that would help would be a great coach that could sweat me for a while.

The biggest thing is, all the benefits poker offers I dont get to utilize.

1. Poker lets you be free - not if you only play in your already free time
2. Poker gives you lots of money - doesn't really matter if you are saving it up for the future and not spending 90% of it.

I haven't played seriously in like 2 weeks nearly. I feel a million times better. I was on the verge of mental breakdown when I took my break. Just way too stressed and not enjoying poker at all. I totally know how you feel. Take a break with no return date and only come back when you're eager to play.
