Real Life Poker Sucks by eightfourO, June 30

Fuckin donks. Had a baseball tourney in Oklahoma which is where i have to go if i want to play at a casino. Night one, i play for an hour on the 200nl(went with a group and they were playing slots/blackjack). When i sat down everyone was talking to each other about like life shit, "hey kevin, you buy that new car yet?". You know, shit like that. So i figured that i was at a table with a bunch of regs who knew what they were doing. Turns out, they're just all calling stations. All of them. I have only seen 1 other player that was a nitty fuck like me, trying to grind it out. I played 3 hands, won two nice pots, and won $91. I was SB w/ a straddler (prolly not spelt right? neither is spelt? spelled? i dunno fuck english). I get A8o and the new UTG limps, it gets folded to me, and i figure 1 limper, and two guys who are blinds...so i limp $3. got another limp and a check from the strad. Flop is 88T w/ 2 diamonds. I raise it to 20, 2 folds and a call. Turn was a 4, i bet 40, he calls. Riv was A, i made the mistake of betting too much (80) on an obv flush draw, and he folds. He thought about it for a while so i think if i bet like 40-50 he might call w/ a pair or something. The other pot i won i had JJ and board was 9 2 4 6 when i won it on the turn. So then i leave... and come back for night number fucking two.

I played 3 hands, lost 200 dollars. Fucking gay. First hand i tried to be some aggro guy on button and got re-raised all in by a tight player so i had to fold on a Q 10 8 rainbow flop. I had AKo, bet pot on the flop and got c/shove... wasn't expecting it... Next i had 66 and folded on a 55J flop, turns out turn and riv were 8 8 and i would have had 8's and 6's which was the winner. I wasn't to call, but didn't like the situation i was in. The hand that killed me was AQo on the button... i raise it to 12, get no respect/3 callers and they are all calling stations... Flop is K 7 10, everyone checks, i thought about trying to steal but didn't b/c i was short stack w/o a pair... turn is an A, guy bets 25, i called, riv is a 4, he puts me all in for 46, i call, and try to play slots w/ a dollar

LAME.

guess i'm going to try my luck on hookers

June has been alright
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/4c008f234c72f64387bf7dea546e7a9a.png
Really struggled at 6 max nl100 probably because i 12 table and play like a robot, most of my winnings been at nl100 hu. lost 8 buy ins on nl200 6 max, wont try that again until i can beat nl100 comfortably at 4ptbb/100. Lost a bit on mtts played a couple of millions came nowhere, only managed to play one weekend this month been 2 hungover or busy so couldn't make the most of the weekend fish. going on holiday on saturday only for a week but my aim for next month is to cut down to 8 tables of nl100 6 max, clock more weekends and hopefully i should b able to have a 4ptbb/100 over a tasty sample and crack onto nl200 in the coming months. thanks for reading and gl to all the other microstakes grinders maybe you can get a decent score in tournament like nutshot.

My laptop died :( by Kapol, June 30

I had this Siemens-Fujitsu junk and it burned after 2 years of using. So now I'm getting myself a Toshiba. It's more expensive, but I'm pretty sure it'll last a lot longer.
Here are the details:

Processor: Intel Core2Duo T7500 ~2.2GHz
Hard Drive: 200GB SATA
RAM: 4096MB DDR2
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD2600 ~512MB memory
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

From what I've heard all of the newest games work great on max details, so I'm looking forward to spending a couple of hours gaming in the next few months.

Price: ~1460USD (it's probably a lot cheaper in the USA :/)

It should arrive in 2 days from now.

update for june by lachlan, June 30

hi, just logging my results for june.

i mostly had to focus on exams so didnt play too much, managed 30k hands.

200NL is harder then 100NL but mostly just in the ratio of fish-to-regs. i was battling for a bit at the start but managed to come back and run good :D made sick fpps too by my standards at least (about 40,000)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/e015facf1f3d62900a40cf38293a729c.png

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/1de0a913d49b2abbdf2c041942d211aa.png

ran good in sets, first time i've seen this ever being so much blue. pretty sick since sets = profits so much in full ring
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/8eb6899ef498db2866e9141338a543ec.png

and lastly EV

Overall!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c7014829d6b685b1e7798fe838e4d89d.png

ive learnt not to do gay check raise with air attempts just because im bored. they never work, and ive lost at least 400 from doing them if i can cut back on that and try to patch my won w/o showdown then i would be up heaps more

so in summary i ran like jesus for most of this month, only 30k so small sample i guess but i hope i do alright once i stop flopping sets. if not, and i do get raped by either a downswing or just neutral variance, well it was fun while it lasted, and i have 14 buyins to lose before i ever move down so hopefully that wont ever happen.

if i do keep on winning, then im taking shots at NL400 when my roll hits 9.2k. hope i can do it next month but im working full time so its unlikely. but my roll is at 6750 now so its possible, maybe, i can dream :D

gl everyone and extra good luck to all aussies

edit: no chop, no stake... all mine imo

plans: paid back a few small debts, gonna keep some money online for bigger mtts that i'm not staked for (nightly $162, sundays), and gonna start to put time in at 100nl 6m... and cash the rest out to MOVE THE FUCK OUT OF MY PARENTS HOUSEEEEEEE

June by Yaffie, June 29

So June's been my best month by far. I've more than doubled my bankroll, and am now very comfortably rolled for NL25 now. I'm not sure if it's a backwards step moving to full ring NL25 but it seems to have helped. I've tightened up slightly, abusing position more and taking advantage of the fact that the full ring nits are SO tight - you can just see from the graph below that the swings at full ring are a lot lower:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/2b69248486bfd757dbb89c3624600bec.jpg

Targets I set myself have almost been reached. I made silver status and nearly made the 45 NL10 buyins that I wanted. I'm sure I could have done so but I've hardly played this past week since making silver. Lazy bastard.

I got my 2nd year uni results a few days ago, (i study structural engineering and architecture), and got a 2.1 overall. I suppose I'm quite pleased but for the amount of work I put in towards the end of the academic year, I'd have liked slightly higher marks.

My girlfriend's coming down to London tomorrow for the week so june is over and I'm looking forward to hopefully progressing from NL25 to NL50 in july.

Cheers,

Adam

feeling better by whamm!, June 29

well 3rd week of june was really breakeven for me, i believe i played well but just couldnt get the mindset going which is really huge for my tilt control/game obv. last week tho, i made some money playing 6max on a couple of softer euro sites at 100nl. starting july, i will officially be playing 200nl FR again - and be a regular player there hopefully not running into a huge downswing of 10bi for me to move back down to 100nl again. i guess 10bi shots aint that bad, ive been wanting to be a regular player there for quite sometime now, and although cashouts have kinda delayed my goals for last june, at least getting to supernova got done and also i couldve played 200nl back then, just to gay to do so coz i felt mentally and emotionally i wasnt ready. i know there are a lot more 3betting light going on there, but with the smallish sample ive played since taking little hit and run shots since february ( around 15k hands) i dont see any reason why its any different from 100nl. imo 400nl would really have to wait with the way i play since im pretty sure that even at FR, 400nl is still the gateway to just being content with grinding 200nl forever, or becoming a really profitable online poker player. i guess that decision will have to be made starting early next year. i got like 2 or 3 days of 100nl before hitting july and becoming a reg at 200nl, i promise i wont gay out of this again. lol. peace and hope u run like god like me

June by SakiSaki, June 29

First off. No pics today sorry, Its my friend that has them and i keep forgetting to ask him for them. Next post I should have em.

June was good for me. I had a goal to reach over 50k hands but obv I didnt because I play to few tables and Im too lazy. Also been away and stuff so hopefully I will atleast reach 50k hands in July since Im not really doing anything for a whole month. I think my game has developed alot, I have been running well and I have also had the fortune of playing alot of nits. Stations tend to own me when Im on autopilot and nits tend to get superstomped by me. Generally I think I do much better against tight players.

Ive taken some serious shots at 5/10 for the first time since I had a suicide 6 month downswing, wanted to kill myself and almost went busto. I am not impressed by the 5/10 regs so far. Havent played alot of the higher volume regs because I try to game select when trying a new level out but so far those Ive played havent really impressed me. The exception would be pinball but I didnt really play him for profit but rather as a learning experience and to challange myself.

I know I said I would post some sick hands and I have infact played some really interesting hands and made som sicksick bluffs/calldowns etc. Unfortunately I cant really find them in my PT database and Im way to lazy to search for them longer than like 3 mins so sry. No hands in this post.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/a345c80ab140a10c18832c540aa51a6d.jpg

Sweet month indeed. Im kinda pissed that Im not in the green on 5/10 because I really should be but given that I got owned by pinball hard for one session and dropped another 3-4k tilting after getting stomped by a bad reg Im still satisfied with my shot at 5/10 and I believe I have a big edge in the games.

For July I plan to grind alot of 2/4-5/10 and Im really stoked to be able to play alot when I feel like Im playing really well and also when Im enjoying poker as much as I am doing right now.

Lets book another good month.

GOGOGO

June by DustySwedeDude, June 29

So yea, can't wait till' tomorrow, tomorrow she goes away...

http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/3219/junens7.jpg

If you ad some donkament scores for like 10k USD, a tiny profit in omaha and a really good rakeback deal this month has turned into my best one ever.

So obviously june was a pretty good month. I've played like 10k hands on limits higher then 3/6 and with some table selection I really feel I've got an edge. Most of the regs are kinda retarded and I just keep away from the others. There's like 2 or 3 LPers I try not to mess to much with and like 3 other regs of which at least 2 plays 10/20 and 25/50 pretty regularly and I figured I'd keep away from them too. The rest of them seems to be bad nits, total spewtards or just random TAGfish which is great of course. I've also exprimented a lot with really, really light 3-betting in position and some new things in 3-bet pots which has worked out wonderfully and overall I guess I'm quite happy with my game right now, even though I obviously always try to improve. I've actually rewatched a lot of really good CR- and Leggo videos and I think that has helped a lot too.

Winning donkaments and getting deep in them has been really fun. I'd like to say thanks once again to everyone who railed me during my two final tables this month. Really good stuff. I feel that my tournament game is pretty decent vs the somewhat retarded fields of players that populate the prima MTT's. I guess watching CR-vids for fun pays of in the long run.

I've had a couple of bad days and session where I've lost a shitload of buyins but I haven't really tilted much at all. I know everyone says that, but I think it's mostly because no one really “admits” to themselves that they're tilting. However, I've really felt something new this month. Except for one two or three occasions, which was kinda partly triggered of outside of poker factors, I've never really felt angry or anything at the tables. I've just figured that it was either standard and kinda bound to happen or I've seen that someone had fucked up badly and gotten it in very bad against me and felt kinda proud that I played good, even though the results didn't show short term. I think this has a lot too do with me winning a fair bit in the beginning of the month and for the first time in like a year actually playing somewhat within my bankroll AND on limits I actually care about. Now I'm telling myself something like; "Ok, he tried to give me money but he failed. Let him keep trying".

I've always been somewhat inclined to get better at things I really like, of which poker is one, and I'm sure I'll try to get higher eventually, but fortunately for me I'm also really, really lazy with things I find boring and I really don't feel like splitting my roll searching for action and there are just not enough games running on prima higher then 5/10 for me to be interested during the foreseeable future. If I can maintain a decent winrate over like 100k hands or so I might look in too it but otherwise I don't think I'll go on any adventures. I really start to feel how this game might have a pretty big impact on my financial future and it feels really good. I really hope I can stay on top of my game for the rest of the summer and make a lot of money. I'm going for a personal wealth of a million SEK (like 150k USD) before I turn 22 next spring and I think I'll make it pretty easely. More then halfway there and I spent the bigger part of last year and this spring fucking around with too much alcohol and too little discipline.

I've also started taking daily 1.5 hour walks and such, which is kinda boring from time to time, but I lose some weight I gained during the winter and even though it kinda tires me now I feel that it'll give me more energy long term.

ipod/1500 bonus? by shaneomac, June 29

im wondering what would be more fiscally responsible? if i have the money available to buy an ipod touch, currently 34k fpps in PS store, should i buy that, or just continue saving for the cash bonuses. i cashed out 1k the other day to buy some shit ive been wanting because i had a good tourney score for 1900 for my friend, which he gave me 1k of it. i want either the ipod touch, or the video ipod(i think 80/160 gig if it exists, and i thought they had it in PS store, but the website said otherwise so ill see about that upon logging in. i want the video ones so i can watch DeucesCracked videos that are ipod compatible, but i want to go about buying it the way that saves me money and is smarter. if i dont go with the ipod online, i will go with the 1500 bonus and should be supernova or close once i reach 100k fpps.

PS-which ipod is better for video? ipod touch or video ipod? also which would be better for my needs(music and downloading videos from DC and watching them?) given the amount of space for costs?

ipod touch @ BESTBUY
8gb: $299
16gb:$399 (34k fpps)
32gb:$499

ipod video:
80gb: $249 (23k fpps)
160gb:$349

thanks for any help guys .

I suck this month? by jase, June 29

So, this is a bit of a venting blog, you've been warned.

I feel like I suddenly suck at this game. Pretty much feel like I rely on variance to win, I slowly bleed money each session then I hit a heater and make it back, then after its over I keep bleeding money. I dunno if it's just variance but it's been happening all month. I've taken stats from PT and compared last month to this month, if anyone could have a quick look over them that'd be awesome. They look so similar to me but maybe there's something small that has a big impact which I can't spot. Here's my stats:

+ Show Spoiler +

Dunno what's going on I've ordered Tommy Angelo's book (Elements of Poker), hopefully that'll be here in the next week or so, everyone who has read it has absolutely raved about it so hopefully it's a good read!

Some songs I've listened to recently;
explosions in the sky - remember me as a time of day
explosions in the sky - a poor mans memory
explosions in the sky - from west texas
explosions in the sky - lonely train
something corporate - konstantine
one republic - mercy
one republic - say
one republic - come home
shawn mcdonald - take my hand
shawn mcdonald - captivated
ben moody - everything burns
HIM - right here in my arms
HIM - beyond redemption
Story of the year - Until the day I die
Filter - Take a picture

Also been listening to some old Blink 182, Rise Against, Rufio, Yellowcard and Lostprophets albums lately :D

UPDATE by GameOverNoob, June 29

Been a while since I'v played nevertheless blogged but here's an update from where i left off.

Couple months ago i took down the 3$+r MTT on Stars (below), decided to continue my summer break for a while longer which i did and now i'm back to the grind.
I found getting back on my feel much harder this time around, but surely im getting back to my normal groove.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/61f611450b9fb9a5aecf4c0037ec0c65.jpg

Here's my small sample graph of the past few days since i started again, mass tabling small stakes

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/ead3af25c943c4d07ce0cf7f4c9299ba.png

Little confidence boost, and I've moved up one lvl and cut my table numbers in half.

Plan on putting at least 100k hands in 4-8 tabling before i move anywhere cause the field has changed quite a bit since i'm back and my game needs to be sharp before i hit nl100+

Got my new setup 95% finished
Great motivation to really put in the time and focus.

Goodluck to all in the WSOP, bring home some ft's and bracelets boys!

10k hands? by DooMeR, June 28

Ok well im kinda busy cuz im planning on putting in 10k hands today or hopefully atleast 6k+. Reason being, Im actually breakeven for the month or just slightly up and I dont want to have a breakeven month. I'm really motivated now (I've been visited my girlfriend in arizona twice this month) since i haven't put in many hands.

I'm pretty thrilled with poker right now. I just banked a 32k month (including rakeback) last month and I've been playing a ton of HU running at a sick nice winrate of around 11-14ptbb(im not sure atm off the top of my head) over like 15k hands.

I'll make a better blog post with more deatils later on but i thought id update my blog for once.
