The Dark Knight by Sheitan, July 23

Yeah i know this is the 1000th post about it, they should rename it "The Joker" or something, Ledger was maybe in the role of his life and i don't give a shit if he died or not, he simply blown me away this is maybe the top 3 sickest actor game i've seen in my life.

Down to micro again by PplusAD, July 23

Yeha ....
run bad at Nl200 shoot when having a 5K bankroll
-> run bad at Nl100
-> cash out ~ 2K when having a 4,3K bankroll
Continue to run bad at Nl100
continue to run bad at Nl100 HU being underrolled
-> Nl50

weee here we go....

The good thing :

Nl50 is so fucking easy that u need to run beyond good and evil or suck at poker to not make some profits

The bad thing :
Its also fucking boring since Semi-tight agressive ABC all the way is the most profitable style ..
Trying to outplay opponents is fun , but simply not as + EV on Nl50 as ABC all the way.

Only question on Nl50 always is : How does my Range vs opponents value betting range or calling range here considering the action on all streets ...

Thats the only thing u have to consider on Nl50 ... and i guess it becomes boring quite fast ...

SO after my latest NL100 downswing i was so frustrated that i didnt poker for a day and played 12h of Diablo2 on B.net without a break >-<
I am Lvl 51 necro Nightmare Act2 now ... and i dont have a clue about D2 at all ( i played it in soloplayer but never really in multiplayer)

However it helped to make me feel better a bit
and so i started a 1 hour Nl50 6max session today

http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/2441/nl50hn9.jpg

Well i got cooled and sucked out a shitload ... but i also got payed of so easy whenever i had a hand.
Well thats Nl50
everybody sucks >-<

Plans are to really grind the next days
to be able to be comfortable rolled for NL100 again
i aim for 3K hands a day at Nl50 6max

I am going of to MMA trianing now ( havent been there for 1 month

it's weird how that shit all like started. like man creates some weird things. like if small things happened in the past our "culture" could be so different.

moving up by traxamillion, July 22

in June i put $100 bucks on cake to rebuild a roll and i have moved up quickly to where I am now with roll for 50nl. I switched off of full tilt and i realize now how much the heavy rake at ft hurt my winrate at the micros.

Don't be fooled by rakeback it is nice but winrate is nicer.

Cake converter misses and hands and screws up sometimes but this is most of the hands.

Ship the heat by vegable, July 22

These past 3 days have been pretty amazing to me. I especially appreciate pokerstar's redeposit bonus for luring all the fishies back to the site. What sucks is that I don't have enough extra money to redeposit so I have to borrow from a friend...sucks.

I feel my game has been improving but the thirst to learn has been pretty stagnant. However I'm doing lots of reading on and offline and all those positive affirmations I'm getting are helping lots. Read Mike Caro's article in Bluff magazine yesterday about the secret to poker being playing your Best "A" game all the time (Got a 12 month subscription for $15, shipdat). I'm pretty good about playing and quitting at the right times to avoid the tilt monster, especially since having almost finished the poker mindset.

I've earned 6600 VPP this month at stars NL50 6max. It feels like I'm a little behind schedule but if I put in an extra session every evening I might be able to reach platinum in time to enter the platinum promotion freeroll to become supernova. LOL how sick would that be. Next epic update on July 31st, Piece bitch

He MUST be crazy by k2o4, July 22

Johnny boy must be crazy to be putting out an ad like this... blaming Obama for the high gas prices, lolololol... and McCain actually said he would run a respectful campaign and go away from the attack ads, then he does this. Desperationnnnnn!

FactCheck.org had fun dismissing this utter BS.

  A Full Tank of Nonsense

McCain ad says Obama's the guy to thank for emptying our wallets at the filling station. We say that's ridiculous.

Summary
McCain's new ad accuses Obama of keeping gas prices high, all by himself. That's absurd, and McCain knows it – he has said repeatedly that our current problems were "30 years in the making."

The ad also tells us that gas prices are high because "some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America." Not true. The federal government's estimate is that if the moratorium on offshore drilling were lifted today, it would be 2030 before we'd see a noticeable effect on supply and prices.

For the same reason, it's simply not true that drilling more now will "rescue our family budgets."

Analysis
Sen. John McCain, who's expected to receive the Republican presidential nomination in September, goes after Sen. Barack Obama, his Democratic counterpart, with a new ad that focuses on the cost of gas. According to McCain's campaign, the spot will air on national cable channels and in unspecified "key states."

The ad opens with a shot of an old-fashioned gas pump standing on a shimmering, moving, body of – water? desert sand? petroleum? It's hard to tell. The female narrator says: "Gas prices – $4, $5, no end in sight, because some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America. No to independence from foreign oil."

"Some" are indeed opposed to lifting the moratorium on new drilling in the waters of the Outer Continental Shelf, and they include Obama.

What's not true, however, is that current opposition to lifting the moratorium has anything to do with today's gas prices. They aren't high because any one individual is against ending the ban. As we have pointed out previously, the Energy Information Administration estimates that if the go-ahead were given right now for such drilling, it would be 2030 before there would be enough oil flowing to have a "significant impact on domestic crude oil and natural gas production or prices." Is there "no end in sight" because of opposition to ending the moratorium? No more so than because of opposition to hastening the development of alternative sources of energy and new kinds of cars. But most experts believe that if we haven't implemented other strategies well before 2030, we're in deep trouble.

As for saying "no to independence from foreign oil," we suppose someone, somewhere, might be saying that – quietly, to themselves, in a small, soundproof room – but no major-party presidential candidate that we're aware of is doing so.

Montreal,Canada BW LAN ready! by TT1, July 22

i'll just post the information i posted on GG.net, if anyone is interested and lives around the area who wants to come please post, a few lpers like fayth and
loco (probably) will come also, basicly wcg canada got canceled so we decided to make a lan in montreal to compensate for it, alot of players are coming from all over Canada,
___________

INITIAL POST:

Yes! Sorry if it took a while i was looking around for the best deal even tho i knew in the end Gamer's World would be the best place to hold the tournament in and that they would give us the best deal, this morning i went to see them and made a deal with them for August 30-31(Saturday + Sunday). Honestly they're the nicest people ever and the owner told me when he heard WCG was canceled for bw that they were so dissapointed, he was more then happy to help us host the lan and gave us a very nice deal.

Positive: Big area, they're giving us all their pc's for the first day (20 pcs), they open at 10am and close at 11pm however if we don't finish the tournament the first day we can continue it the next day free of charge until it takes us to finish it (no timeline), so we don't need to rush the tournament on the first day, we can host it a little bit later and make sure that everyone has enough time to show up and also we can make that LAN vs LAN war against Sweden if you guys want.

Location/Direction: The PC room is located at metro(subway in french is metro) Snowdon, right when you leave the metro and come outside you'll see a Mcdonald's at your right and a Tim Hortons to your left, you go to your left and cross the street and walk upwards for 5 seconds and you'll see the PC room (you have to walk on some stairs).

Their exact location is 4986 Queen Mary, Montreal Qc.
Their phone number is (514) 788-5389, if you have any questions.
Website : www.gamersworld.ca
Email : info@gamersworld.ca

For the people coming from outside Montreal by car I honestly have no idea how to give you directions because i don't drive(like which exit to come out from etc.), i'll look around but if someone knows like which exit they have to come out from and where to turn etc. please post, also im sure if you call them and ask for directions they'll gladly help you.

Entrance Fee: Now heres the deal that we made, entrance fee is 25$, the way we calculated is we estimated at least 25 players showing up(minimum, theres probably going to be like 35 players), 25 x 25 gave 625$ total, they'll take 300$ for renting out the whole place for the whole days and for using all the pcs, also for the following days it takes us to finish the tournament, plus if you don't have headphones or something you can give them your medical card or something and they'll give you free headphones for the day.

So that leaves us 325$ as the prize pool alone from the entrance fee, take into consideration that we only calculated it for 25 players and this is without the money a few players might put into the prize pool(which they're not forced too at all), the owner also told me there will be alot of players which will be coming for the lan as well(regular players who show up for our lans that arnt known), also alot of the players are bringing their friends so im sure the pool will be fairly big. Im pretty confident that we can easily reach 40 players.

Organization/Tournament Style: We will have a round robin to start off the tournament, most likely 4 players per group with 2 players advancing from each group playing bo1's with each player from the group, for the round robin we will have seeds (we'll have 2 strong players per group because if we end up with 4 favorites in the same group it would'nt be really fair and would take away alot of the fun for the final tournament).

After the round robin we will have a tournament style bracket(around 16 players most likely) with a WB and LB. Both will be bo3's and the grand final will be a BO7 (WB gets 1-0 lead or if we really wanna start it off equal they can start at 0-0).

Maps: Maps are still not picked, this is our tournament, we control every aspect of it and no 1 player will be in charge of picking the maps, we will together as a group make a poll in the following weeks and select the maps, however the fairest and best pool imo is something like

Tau + Longi + Python + WCG Mappool, please discuss about the map selection. Also discuss about the LAN vs LAN war vs Sweden if your interested or not (Eme please post if your still going to organise the LAN).

Sponsor: I have no idea about this aspect, Xeris is in charge and theres no pressure, if we get anything extra then thats great and if not its totally fine, the way things look tho Xeris posted on tl.net that we might some extra hardware to give out at the LAN, i have no idea about this and you'd have to ask Xeris. Also Xeris they'll be posting the news about the tournament on their site shortly, i know you were asking for that so i told them to post it.

Oops oops 5K plo by ghaz, July 22

soooo I'm having a pretty sick month so I decide to play a little short stack plo as a bit of a gamble after a good day at NL. Before I know it, I'm stuck huge and playing with full stacks etc. Thankfully I almost got unstuck. Oh yeah, I'd been playing for about 9 hours before I started playing, and after I finished sessing I'd been playing for 19 hours.... ooooooops.

http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/1152/picture70vk2.png

Oh yeah, I've played about 6000 hands of plo lifetime.. something tells me 5K plo isn't the place for me to be honing my skillz :D

run good while sober? by clee, July 22

following my last update.. deposited 360 on cake, grinding out the bonus on 50NL i know i know, playing underrolled but w/ever 50NL is pretty fishy and setmining is pretty standard.. so after 2 nights im up 2 buyins, playing 2-3 tables + $5 SNGs.

Bring on sat. night, get very very f*cked up.. have to understand since i started working you really appreciate weekends more, met up with a lot of friends i hadnt seen in a while, got messed up on cheap korean beer & soju

so stumble home.. after a long cab ride where i spent 10 odd minutes fishing in my pocket for money when i realised i was holding it in my other hand, get into my home and decide im way too drunk to go straight to sleep. my brilliant mind decides pokerz is the way to do it... cue robusto performance.. would post some bankroll photos but I manage to get up roughly 10 buyins for 50NL and proceed to hit heads up 2/4 where I manage to blow my roll back down to 195 before i fall asleep on the desk. next morning massively hungover i try and chance a shortstack on 1/2 and get it in with on a J42o board with 22, drawing near dead to slowplayed JJ gg my life..

so currently the starting stack stands at 120. interesting how self destruction works.. will continue the grind regardless! i need some sort of breathalyser lock for my computer.. any advice?

Thx
