  LemOn[5thF], Apr 29 2009

It is exactly one month today since I started playing SH.
I had 49,000 Hands at NL5 with 9 BB/100
I went to NL10 in the half of the month rougly for 3k Hands and lost 3BI, and kept losing even on NL5 for a while.
I returned 10 days ago and ran at 10BB/100 over 10K hands.

Three days ago I tasted NL25 and after I was as expected 3BI down after 100 hands I ran quite nicely and went to 20BB/100 over 2K hands.

Summary: I am happy with my first month of playing short-handed and after the failed NL10 attempt at 18K hands at NL10 I re-evaluated my game and things went pretty nicely for me, result and game wise.

May Goals:
Stay NL25 regular. I seem to run suspiciously good and even though I have almost 40BI now the doom switch may be around the corner.

If I manage that only sky will be the limit.

P.S. Since yesterday I am officially a Silver Star at Pokerstars, wee

Break&da plan
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 25 2009

I got a project to write until Wednesday and a presentation for Friday at the uni, So I am gonna take a week break.

After the pause I will take a shot at NL25. As I had only few K hands at NL10 (Although I don't see any difference from NL5 apart from more bluffboxes and 100bb) and this may be risky, I will set myself a 5BI stop limit under which I move back to NL10 and grind it some more.

I plan on playing tight fish exploiting ABC on 4tables first 10K hands or so, and if it works well and I get to know the pace of the limit I will attempt to open up like I did at NL10.

My BR: $810
Potential move down Back to NL10: $700

God speed-.-

Brag
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 22 2009

I stupidly spewed 4BI in the morning NL10, during 25minutes. (Why do I play anyway? Always in sports, school, university, I can't bloody focus before 11am... but I always play...and lose. And when I play 30/28 NL10 it even multiplies. I was not going by equity but by hope)

Thank god I got it back in a few (and lost some of it at the end, see my last post) this afternoon.

Than I saw my luck is running out and I am getting tired, so I got back to my 14table NL5 Grind.

And guess what, although I try not to, my openness at NL10 affects my 14tabling as well. I ran 21/20 instead of the usual 17/13 and its actually a better approach as its 200bb. But now I know from NL10 what to do with those tiny SC and One gappers, and I am no longer taking free money from only from the mid-stacks, but with the suck out hands I also stacked the nitty regs here and there.

Here is the brag graph and my 36$/Hour this afternoon.

Love my combo :)
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 21 2009

Poker just got even more Interesting.

I started my session playing LAGgy NL10 4tables, and as this is so hard on my brain (I actually use Stove again for many hands) I can't keep it up for more than 1-2 hours.

And when I am tired I just put on my grinder shoes, open couple (9-15)NL5 SH tables and grind for some moneyz and FPP's and have some fun ;o

I managed not to check my cashier at all today as the NL5 grind is so relaxing and its popped at $610.

If I keep this up and balance tilts at NL10 by the nitty NL5 grinds I should be able to taste NL25 in no time. (I will try with around $800, 4BI's will be a buffer zone that I expect to lose before I adjust)

Some standard hands to fill the white space ;o

NL10 lol
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 21 2009

Ok so I moved to NL10 and started 4tabling as many of you were advising me.

The limit is so weird. Many PF nits that turn into massive stations once they are in a hand.

Not even that many people don't fold a bottom pair on AK board when I cbet, but a big percentage doesn't fold air on the most obvious dry boards with 1-2 high over cards.
Had 58% C/bet %, but I will lower it to around 50% (I am changing the standard to NOT to c/bet against unknown as opposed to NL5 and I have to have a read for c/betting, rather than against it now)

That would be ok, I am used to this with the $4 people from NL5. But NL10 its almost everyone, including many full stacks (who are huge nits and Trapping machines NL5)

I ran 28/26.5/4 with 12% 3Bet and 48% attempted to steal. (I had two 15VP/5 call PFR tables, completely oblivious to what I was doing lol)
I changed to 3BB+XBB.

My strategy for the future: Keep exploiting the PF nits and bet super strong all made hands with only c/bets against people that are capable of folding on suitable boards.

To illustrate:

NL5 LP session
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 19 2009

It started with my usual 9table grind NL5.

Than Genjix came and sat on majority of my tables (to my left of course ;o).

Some nice pots emerged and we played even HU for a while, great experience.Than some of LP guys joined the party and NL5 turned into NL100 for a while.

I had a great time, I even bluffed a lot and people actually believed me. Thanks Neilly, Crown, Genjix and Donald for showing me how awesome poker at higher stakes is and hope to see you at my tables again

I have seen that I can play semi-decent lag and its fun too, so I will now split my sessions into 4Tabling open style with 3BB+X PF raising and my usual 9table+ 4BB+X grinds (thanks Crown for the advice)

P.S. Apology: Sorry Genjix for saying I am sick of your style, everyone plays as he suits and thats why poker is so much fun. Cheers for the games. (Lets go HU again sometimes, it was fun but but too short ;o)

P.P.S BRAG: I ended up 3BI ;o

Swap Sites?
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 19 2009

So I have reached the mass of $550, exactly the ceiling that many sites will match with a bonus.

I love Stars, but this bonus would be a great boost, and I can always come back right?
FullTilt seems very similar and it has 100% match to up to $600 bonus and 27% rake back.

The Only thing that keeps me from doing this is Tableninja. I got used to it so much... Is there anything similar for Full tilt?

Do you think its worth it?
(You know me and my massive BW-like volumes ;o, I don't think it would be for too long)

P.S. I'd play NL10 SH there until $750, than NL25 (Are the blinds 10/25 or different?)

First Two months*
  LemOn[5thF], Apr 18 2009

(*If we don't count the 10days of 0.2+0.02SnG's and 5k hands total nitting iPoker

Look at my Professionally made graph:

SH is a game for me and my notorious impatience.

I decided to hang around at NL5 SH for a while, NL10 is cursed with stations and massive amount of midstacks and it turns into turbo SnG like shove/fold fest far too often.

I had one massive 1 day tilt a while ago, and thank god the luckboxed $26 win in my third MTT ever helped me to get back on track, win 10BI regularly + 14BI in a MTT SnG in 3 days.

But since the lucky second place I have become overconfident, which made me a degen playing 4.40 180 Mans when I didn't have the skills at all.

Whats next:

1) Attempt to play LAG on 20/10 tables (yes you can find these easily NL5 despite what most of you think)

2) Stop the tarded 4.40 SnG's. 1.1 Are enough for me.
I will read some poker strategy Articles on SnG's if I have spare time and Cash games bore me and maybe checkout some ICM trainer.

3) Slowly build roll for NL25. I still plan to do the last 7-10BI at NL10 to adjust to the 100bb weirdness.

4) Continue reading everything in Low Stakes, and get through the Advanced Articles.
Make it to Gold at Poker strategy and read all articles there (like 20 3+page articles)

I still didn't find any good SH videos, those at PS are not that good so if someone wants to point me to some site I'd appreciate it.

P.S. My decision to Stay at NL5:
Maybe you might disagree with me, but NL5 is the best platform for learning poker.

What I still don't quite understand as I moved to SH recently and wouldn't be able to train well NL10:

-Second Barrel
-LAG style
-Floating
-3Bets/4bets
-Playing sc well

I suck at all these and NL10 its hard to do them without becoming pot committed. I tried, and I failed so NL10 forced me to play like a nit.

Yes, I agree that the way I am over thinking the limit probably hurts my win rate (7ptbbBB/100 overall and 9ptbb/100 after initial 15K hands), but what the hell- I am having fun, have the cool feeling like in BW when I read an strategy article and use it directly.
I love NL5 and leaving it will hurt my heart.

BR when Started: $50
BR: $552 (I once deposited $50 to get a bonus and withdrew it back two days ago)

FPP: used 1200 to buy a Tee for me and my GF, now I got 600 and am saving for the Porsche.
