I'm still a little hungover, groggy and felt like getting some stuff down on paper and felt like some of this might have some value for the LP crowd. Just going machine gun style:
-Anyone interested in health, wellness, medicine, tech should read "End of Illness" by David Agus. He covers basically all the health threads that popped up in the general forum over the last year and it's basically a hack on health and wellness.
Alcohol:
-not all wine is created equal.
-not all tequila is created equal.
-et al
To all the young, broke kids:
grow/improve/acquire knowledge/build quality relationships, make some $$$$$, start drinking better alcohol you will not be disappointed. i guess it's all subjective but a really good glass of wine is orgasmic and after a lot doesn't fuck you up the next day. ditto w/ tequila, rum, whiskey, scotch, cognac, vodka, et al.
$5/bottle tequila and rum is horrible. i'm not saying you need to go broke buying $10 shots at the bar but pick your liquor of choice and scale up. i will be surprised if you are disappoint.
This holds true for basically anything that you enjoy in life.
Hangover Remedy:
-sleep+time
-ICE COLD water. nothing better.
-frozen fresh picked fruit
-maybe little bit coffee or painkiller
if you can stomach it and the weather is nice:
-walk+fresh air. try to push yourself to the point you get some natural endorphins, painkillers, anti-inflammatories kickin in.
-eggs + bacon + steak (w/e you like)
Food Related but Non-Hangover related:
asparagus is (the) nuts right now. get that shit fresh picked. lil bit evoo. sea salt. garlic. pepper. roast that sumbitch up for like 20-25 min. lil bit evoo. grated parmesan cheese. lemon. that's where it's at this april.
add in steak of choice and gameover. you've won.
oh shit, cab or malbec of choice? man nukka pass go like 20 times, don't go to jail, and land on boardwalk holla.
House Music:
-don't sleep on hernan catteneo. if you enjoy a bit more deep, progressive, house'y, electronica'y stuff thus nukka gets it better than anybody.
-as far as mainstream right now. avicii and sebastian ingrosso are killin it. if you wanna give new house music a try check them out. they've been killin it for a while but all these f swedes are murderin shit. imo they've kinda started their own new sub-genre of swedish house ownage.
-if you are completely new to house: thomas banghalter. daft punk.
Just got up to speed on this. Definitely the way to go. I use Google Reader just b/c I'm a google fan and can link it to my droid.
Any recommendations for feeds?
Right now I just have a pretty standard news feed and added:
-New York Times
-Wall Street Journal
-Time
-The Economist
-Mark Cuban's blog
-Harvard Business Review
-Jonathan Wilson (Footy)
-Liquid Poker (yeah budday)
-T-Nation (juiced up gorilla meathead site)
-WikiLeaks
-Zonal Marking (nother footy site)
I'd obviously recommend any of these
I'm looking for:
-I'll try just about anything at least once
More Specific:

-Business
-Politics
-Technology
-NFL
-NHL
-Sports in General
-Men's Fashion
-Men's Magazine type stuff (GQ, Maxim)
Someone on here recommended this (sorry don't remember who but it was in reference to FTP debacle) and I have been happy w/ the recent docu recs so checked it out (sidenote: armadillo was kick ass. if you like that check out an hbo series generation kill). Pretty interesting and enlightening flick. All I remember about enron really was that in my economics class some friends and I were first place in the state in a stock competition (lol run good) then we were literally dead LAST after enron fell to .40c/share and everyone hated enron and a bunch of rich white guys in suits and ties looked extremely sad in court rooms.
What actually went down is pretty crazy and worth a look.
fuckin lu pai man lol. gets outta there w/ 250mil. freeroll rhinowned for life. buys the rocky mountains. buys hawaii. rofl. there is probably a decent chance he can't look at himself in the mirror and hates life but if he somehow got out of there w/ a clear conscious rock on!
skilling makes my skin crawl. f psychopath. probably read crime and punishment and came to the conclusion he was better than raskolnikov. oops. should have listened to dostoevsky.
ken lay is the same. tossup who is worse.
does anyone know the deal w/ bush? that part of the movie seemed sketchy. bush obv had a pretty poor record but all those california dems were idiots too.
everyone who saw this is going to hate anyone who traded for enron ever and probably anyone who has traded anywhere ever.
another thing is how much blame should the banks get? on one hand it seems they are f bulletproof and have no accountability ever. on the other hand it would be tough to see through those shenanigans when enron was handing them tons of money and from all accounts are a rockstar company. firing analysts who were doing their job exceptionally and started to see through the shenanigans is pretty deplorable though.
i've been basically bodypart split bb training for a long ass time and decided to switch it up a bit. i want to diet down but on standard bb split it is frustrating to work your ass off doing the same lifts over and over again and lose strength. on the come up it's a lot of fun b/c you can eat a shit ton of grits then like slather some chicken w/ a ton of bbq sauce and potatoes and go wild in the gym and see all your lifts improve but i've more or less stayed the same for a while.
basically i remember there was a thread posted about the spartacus workout as well as i know there are a lot of mma guys on here and i was just wondering if anyone has experience w/ this type of training. #1 it was extremely motivating to see how fast i can do the workout. #2 in theory and practice i don't see how anything can get you more shredded. #3 it's new and exciting. i don't want to lose all my gains from standard bb'ing though so was curious about this from ppl w/ more experience.
also, anyone have any workout drug recommendations?
i have used hot-rox in the past and would use again.
it seems that there are a lot of brazilians on this site. i'm trying to delve deeper in brazilian music. the post is titled samba but really i'm just looking for some rhythm, soul, energy and positive emotions.
it's hard to find stuff in the US b/c US google/pandora/itunes comes up w/ like generic, horrible shit made by some hippie robot w/ a 1984 casio keyboard.
this is some stuff i've found and liked.
it's also hard to find all out party stuff. like what would be blasting for carnival or if ppl were just raging after x football team won or if brasil won the world cup. what do you guys listen to in dance clubs there?
another interesting thing i found is romanian edm kept coming up. some of the songs were flat out in Portuguese and some had capoeira and such.
example (even if you don't like the song there is some nice scenery):
here are just some random videos i came across i think most red blooded males would enjoy:
interested in getting into this genre. i just put Scandinavia in hopes of ppl coming in from all corners to defend their national bands w/ passion plus besides a little bit of random information and random samplings i am completely blind. to put it simple i'm looking for music that vikings would put on their ipods to trudge through blizzards and darkness to squat 1000 lbs (or pillage evildoers).
i'm getting kind of sick and bored and have been having some trouble branching out and trying to find new music. i generally listen to this music primarily when i am exercising but also driving or doing busy work. to keep it simple when i workout i am basically looking for edm/house music that is amazing if you were to be rollin balls on speed/cocaine/ecstasy/mdma. i like to drink a bunch of caffeine and go wild and i've found that the caffeine mixed w/ CNS activation/testosterone/endorphins that this type of music is the most pleasurable and provides the most energy for me.
here is some stuff i've been listening to off the top of my head that i have listened to too much to help w/ suggestions and or maybe you haven't heard it and like it:
basically there was a recent tiesto podcast i was listening to a bunch and generally listened to a handful of those for a while:
Gamble and Burke "let's go together (Hot Pink Delorean Remix)"
BT and Andrew Bayer "The Emergency (Dave Aude Club Dub)"
alex Q "flume"
romanthony "the wanderer (dixon edit)"
some other songs:
serge devant "addicted"
giorgio giordano "amazzonia (david tort remix)"
medina "you and i"
rui da silva "touch me"
rui da silva "on my mind"
here's 2 that i got from iop that i listened the hell out of and still do (i'm crossing my fingers you are reading this my man):
then most recently i got heavy heavy into deadmau5 for a lil bit but now am basically completely burnt out and can't listen. 3 songs i can still listen to.
deadmau5 and wolfgang gartner "animal rights"
deadmau5 "paco di bango's world"
deadmau5 "SOFI"
now i've been trying to branch out into more progressive house and chicago house and just anything really but am having a hard time finding good stuff.
for starters i think Orlando voorn's original "paco di bango" is iller
dust "recloose feat joe dukie"
knee deep "all about love"
i guess an example of some others that aren't chicago housey that i can still listen to:
dave spoon "at night"
kaskade "step one two (mischa daniels mix)"
john dahlback "don't speak"
BSOD "BSOD"
some other randoms i just love:
stardust (thomas banghalter aka 1/2 of daft punk) "music sounds better with you"
james brown "i feel good"
marvin gaye "just like music"
chic "everybody dance"
tulio de piscopo "stop bajon"
john legend "let's get lifted"
erykah badu "the healer"
marvin gaye "got to give it up (pt. 1)"
ok, wow, that was a lot.
help me please and if not hopefully you find something you like.
