Today's summary:

Commentary:

Poker can be a funny motherfucker sometimes. Up a BI+ on Friday, down almost 3 BI's this morning. Fun stuff.

Well I know most of you Eurofags can't really appreciate this, but the greatest baseball player of our - or any - generation is on the verge of breaking baseball's most coveted record: All-time Homeruns. (LOL BALCO BONDS LOL STEROIDS LOL)

I've picked up (2) tickets to tonight's game, and (4) for tomorrow night's game.

I really hope he does it at some point in these next two games, because getting to a weeknight game in the city is kind of a bitch for me, and the prices of these tickets have sky-rocketed ($75/ea for fucking bleacher seats!). This will be the 13th and 14th Giant's games I've gone to this year, and so far my record is 2-10

  KingKory, Aug 02 2007

August 1st - 2nd, 2007

Today's summary:

Commentary:

Yesterday morning, I went down a buy-in; I went up 2 BI's+ this morning. Not many huge hands, though. A few short-stackings.

Played well I think, except for the AK vs 87, and J7ss hands. I played both these hands strangely, and was stung for it.

Oh, and I just DL'd PokerEV. Here is my graph for the 30k break-even streak I'm currently going through.

Will someone kindly explain what I'm looking at, please? And how much merit do these graphs have? Ty!

Jewly Review (+58.80)
  KingKory, Jul 31 2007

July Review, 2007

Monthly Summary:

Commentary:

And so ends another breakeven month. I got in a decent amount of hands considering all the RL shit/events I had going this month. I played a bland session this morning (+20) to finished the month off.

Feeling confident at the tables though; opening my 3-bet game a bit, and I've recently been calling people down lighter on the river, after the turn has been checked through, and the results are slightly in my favor I think.

After a lot of advice, I've dropped from 9 to 6 tables, and I think I like it. Gives me more chance to concentrate on each of my actions, and I can actually see the tables on my P.O.S. monitor now. One thing I've noticed after moving down to 6 tables is that my numbers haven't gone up that much at all. I've been running pretty steady at 14/12 or so. I guess I can no longer use the excuse "too many tables to play any faster". I suppose I'm a nit at heart

Here's a pretty funny hand from today: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/241937

Anyhow, here is my chart over the last 3 months, and it's not pretty. It's actually very very frustrating.

It's pretty easy to blame my 30k hand drought on badbeats/setups, so...I think I will. Fuck you Lee.

I run lukewarm (+117.00)
  KingKory, Jul 26 2007

July 25th - 26th, 2007

Today's summary:

Commentary:

Pretty good couple of sessions. I was up 3 BI's at one point yesterday morning, but the AsQ hand, and some failed c-bets/2-barrels brought me down a couple BI's. I lost 2 hands where I 4-betted 2 players who I thought were isolating me. After a few orbits with them, I realized it was just paranoia.

No majorly interesting hands though.

Also, my 49ER SEASON TICKETS came in yesterday. Very excited for the season.

6 Tables (+40.70)
  KingKory, Jul 23 2007

July 23rd, 2007

Today's summary:

Commentary:

Moved down to 6 tables today, and my results are mixed. Yes I completed my first winning session it what seems like forever, but it's just one session. My numbers went up a bit as expected.

All of the "read-based" plays (non-standard moves I made dependant on the player) I attempted failed miserably though.

It's annoying that I got in ~300 less hands this morning from cutting back on tables, but if I'm winning I don't really give two shits I guess.

Had a tough time with a player called "mambreno", who I had never seen before. I thought he was isolating me, but after I saw him show a couple hands down, I realize he was just playing standard, and ran into some good cards against me.

Sloppy (-13.45)
  KingKory, Jul 19 2007

July 19th, 2007

Today's summary:

Commentary:

Loss of focus (KQo) cost me $30+ today. And one very questionable play (AKo) cost me another $25. These were both situations where I could have just flatted the river, but instead I pushed.

With more than half of the month behind me, I'm down $32.50. I'm hovering right at the 20BI mark for 50NL, but I still feel like I have a strong hold on what's going on at the tables. I'll continue 9-tabling 50NL, and re-evaluate my position at the end of the month.

I made a couple pretty good moves against known players, but my sloppy fucking retarded-as-shit hands pretty much negated them. Having one of these per session is not acceptable, and unless I can fix it, I'm definitely going to need to decrease my tables.

Please berate me.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/234149 DUMBSHIT HAND #2 This is really bad, and I'm sort of embarrased posting it, but...tough love. I don't know why I didn't c-bet the flop. I didn't notice the board pair on the turn; even after I said "fuck", I still didn't notice that the board paired. When he tabled 22, I thought that I had won the hand. Something strange is afoot at the Circle K (-1.40)
  KingKory, Jul 18 2007

July 18th, 2007

Today's summary:

Commentary:

One of the most surreal sessions I've ever played I think.

- I lost 4 160bb+ pots, won 5 160bb+ pots, and came out exactly even.

- I broke my record for the most money lost in one pot.

- I was favored in my top 3 losers when the money went in, but I hate when people bitch about that shit, so I won't...except for this.

Just an action-filled morning, and it was really fun. Kind of pissed that I should have been a huge winner today, but glad to come out alive I guess.

9 tables too much? (-$28.35)
  KingKory, Jul 17 2007

July 14th - 17th, 2007

Today's summary:

Commentary:

I'm starting to think that 9 tables may be hindering my game a bit. I'm running extremely tight (15/13 over 16k hands), and I CAN'T FUCKING GET PAID. Near the end of my session, I closed all but 3 of my tables, and I noticed a significant difference.

First, I only have one monitor, and when I run 9 tables, each table is pretty small. It's tough for me to see my PAHUD stats and even usernames. If a villain doesn't have an avatar I recognize, I probably won't realize who I'm playing against. Secondly, when I'm running 3-4 tables, I can really concentrate on every action; I go into pure robot mode (unless there's a villain with a lot of history at my table) when I 9-table.

The problem is that I only have an hour a day to play. 9-tabling I can get in ~700 hands/hour, while I can only play 400-500 hands/hour 4-tabling.

I'll be coming up on my 3rd month of break-even poker, and I'll continue to 9-table through July, but if something doesn't change, I think I'll try to cut back to 4 beginning in August.

Anyhow, I was in Vegas last weekend for a convention, and it was hot as all balls. Pretty boring trip; arrived Saturday afternoon, had an early dinner, then saw Phantom (fag!) Saturday night. Went to a club at the Mirage after dinner, and then crashed out. Woke up early Sunday morning, and hit the $1/1/2 game. It had a $100 buy-in, but if you dipped under $100, you can buy-in for another $100. So I paid a big blind, then topped off at $198 I haven't played a live game in...almost 6 months, and it draaaaaaaaaagged. Stacked some Canadian cowboy on a Tdxdx flop with AKd, he showed KTo, turn bricked, and the river brought an ace Cashed out ~$350 after about 5 hours. Although I enjoy the action/social aspect of live play, the downtime was unbearable. I had to resort to ordering a Crown/coke (or 5) just to pass the time in between hands. The convention was...a convention, and I flew back home in the evening.

My buddy took care of my precious angel Tank while I was away.

However, he sent me a rather confusing message Saturday night...

What do you think it means

On to the hands-

This guy was running pretty aggressively - 27/19/7.5 over 150 hands. I'm not completely comfortable with my call on the flop, but I don't think he had much. Not exactly sure how he folds red QQ+ on the turn if he did have me beat. He asked me afterward if I flopped a set. Really upset that I didn't get paid here.
