Had a blog for these type of songs but I figured an updated General Forum post would engage a larger audience to share, embrace, and enjoy music that really touches you emotionally.
Songs taken from my blog in order of post
A short explanation of the song as it pertains to what it represents to you or what you believe it to repretsent would be interesting and maybe at the same time introduce a new perspective of that song for different people.
I am also adding a few gems that I enjoy
-reminds me of that first true love that slowly fell apart - but still reminds me of all of those perfect moments where things just seemed to work.
-Joey Cape is seriously one of my favorite's... Being close to someone who commits suicide is really hard to describe, but this song really brings him that much closer for some reason.
-Pretty much same reasoning as the song above, Derrick Plourde was a great drummer and the homage lagwagon pays to him is really unheard of from bands.
-Another great punk band and another great powerful song imo, I think a lot of people can relate to a few aspects of this song; whether it is a personal ballad about themselves or someone they knew.

that's unfortunate, however trolling isn't what this thread is about, but I'd welcome you to share some of your depressing songs.
I never said anyone would feel the same as the person who posts the initial video, however music impacts every person differently. But there will always be common themes people can enjoy.

I think I got this.
One of the most depressive songs I know. It's pretty straightforward to understand, but just in case someone doesn't get it - it's a metaphor for suicide:
Probably the most beautiful, dark instrumental I have heard:
Peace of mind cant be bought.

This takes the cake IMO
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

how isnt there any classic music? its by far the genre with a much sadder potential and the violin is an instrument to squeeze out tears.
well i listen to a lot of classical, but not so much that fits "depressing music"... it's generally extremely dark and haunting but not depressing. Cilio being one of the few exceptions.
some more of my favorites:
heartbreak music:
(everyone in this thread should like this song, press play for 10 seconds and you'll be hooked)
oh and i love this pic from Chokebore
describes the music quite well.

Just last months did I start listening to Clapton, never heard of Tears In Heaven, didn't know its so famous, such a good song, sad circumstances that led to its existence though
