- it's next to impossible
- havent played a lot past weeks, mindset cannot handle any sort of variance, on extreme ragetilt when i see beats
- ecigs help a ton
- head is so fucked up right now i cant even play a hand when i sit down and end up closing stars client
- mood swings daily, crazy thoughts about quitting poker, grinding 200kvpp in 3 months , cashing out, getting out of stars again etc lol
i wont be going back to smoking, its a promise that ive made which i intend to keep, thats why my head is really fucked up right now. last time i went to the gym i just felt smoking cut my wind down to like 5% remaining lol, hated it and finally thought of giving up smoking afer 23 years (started when i was 14, have not quit a single day averaging 1pack a day ) but since poker i think its been up to 2packs or more daily.

Educate yourself on how to quit an addiction, it's not really hard. It's so easy to say it's hard and your brain make sure "is is" hard for you.
It's piss easy, been an addict myself, can be done in a day. Gogo lessons of mastery <3 Robbinson shit, quit 18 hours of wow 4 years straight in a heartbeat.

cigs aren't up there with alcohol and drugs. They're up there with heroine. I think heroine is the hardest thing to quit and cigs are the 2nd hardest. Don't cite me on that but too lazy to wiki now. Luckily i never got into smoking ;p |

its obviously completely possible to quit smoking cigs (and you should obviously), but its different from being addicted to WoW and quitting. Nicotine is physically addictive.
Also talking about wow, I too played that game an absurd amount and definitely would qualify as an addiction for me under many definitions of the word, but I just quit one day cuz I finally realized I was bored and not getting anything out of it anymore. Can't think of cigs the same way. |

sir, i don't think you know shit about addiction. while a mental/psychological addictions can be tough to overcome. try combining that with a very real and severe physical addiction.
then you got yourself a problem. |

i quit a couple years ago now, was smoking marlboro red like 1.5 packs a day.. i tried a few methods, like promising not to smoke, cutting down on the amount of cigs a day etc.. but finally got hold of this book by Allen Carr, easy way to stop smoking... and well .. honestly it really was the thing for me.. never smoked, never even thought of wanting again... and the addiction part in the brain, went right out of the window... was one of the easiest things i've done |

Break the chain, doesn't take that long before the "gut" feeling passes. It's prolly x10 easier to quit smoking, but different things is harder for different people. I said I was addicted, didn't say I "liked to play wow". I'd get sweath, nacious, dissy if I wasn't on it. It was severe lol.
Most "smokers" who try and quit, they go like "ok, i'm gonna try" (But they still don't rly belive they gonna quit). And they just give in to the feeling when it becomes "too hard".
Take meassurements, stuff like, find a sheet of paper. Write it on the top of the paper, then find atleast 20-30 solutions, things that will help with the quitting.
The first 5 things are easy, then it gets harder, the next 5 will suddenly "change" things in your head, because you're now "working" on it. The next 5 harder so, the last 5 before you've got 20 things will really test you, and a lot of people ain't able to, because they haven't been "using" their brains thorougly for a long time. Now wonders are happening, when you get as many things as you have. Start one of them asap.
Get post it notes, writes reasons not to smoke before bed, and look at it first thing when you wake up.
Like, if I have kids, I'll spend less time with them because i'll die x years sooner. My apperance will decompose x years sooner, my normal state will be lower, so forth, that "addiction" will be gone so fast it's unreal.
I know it's easy, because I got the most hardcore addict to stop smoking weed after having smoked for 1500 dollars a month for 8 years to stop in a week.
I think you can do it Whamm, just be careful with the "subtle" metaphors you put on it, like "astronomically harder". which takes 0 energy to say/think and is a hint you're subconciously trying to sabotage and not beliving you can quit.
gggggl hf <3
oh oh, then maybe a new blank sheet of paper, write down 20 things you can replace the smoking with that will have a positive effect on your life, and then if you get more than 20, the last thing you come up with is probably the way to go. xD |

This is the way I did it:
Day 1 & 2: smoke 5 cigs
Day 3 & 4: smoke 4 cigs
Day 5 & 6: smoke 3 cigs
Day 7 & 8: smoke 2 cigs
Day 9 & 10: smoke 1 cig
In the meantime read that Allan Carr book
You probably don't even want to smoke the cigaret on day 9 and day 10..

Just get the Easy way by Alan Carr and you will see that quitting is way easier then you thought. Seriously dude its not a 100% guaranteed thing but its by far the best option out there to quit smoking, all the cutting down and e-cigs, gum and all that horseshit doesnt do dick but get you addicted onto that.
gl man, dont expect it to be hard and it wont be, its all in your head. |

I'm not disagreeing with you that psychological addictions are quite tough. But for cig users it's a combination of both. Being physically sick, as well as getting ridiculous cravings as well as the psychological need to actually do the act of smoking can get pretty brutal.
and lol weed addiction. I myself smoked for 1.5 years to 2 years every day all day. I went through about 3-4 grams a day by myself during that time. And I can stop and go on a whim and the only bad side effect i have is maybe 1 restless night's rest.
I have multiple friends who've smoked even more than I have and they have no problems starting and stopping. I feel weed addiction would be so incredibly rare and there's other psychological forces at work than simply "addiction" in it's purest form. Such as escapism from certain problems/reality or whatever. |
