I don't follow UFC much but just saw the first fight between conor/porier how the f is conor not a bigger favorite here? |
If we compare both of them against Khabib I'd say Poirier definitely had more odds than Conor, but probably not a good comparison since Khabib is a very specific fight.
I don't know why McGregor is that big of a favorite. Yeah, McGregor has been fairly inactive and it honestly feels like he's lost his mental game 'edge' he used to have (e.g. he s quite humble nowadays most likely because of all the court shit and losing the Khabib fight)
I wonder how much the time of the event affects the fighters too, they are basically fighting at 7-10am local time. Main event starts at 9am local time... meaning they probably need to wake up at like 4-5 to get up, get some prep and move to the event to warm up |

That’s actually a good one. I’ll tail you on that one.
Do you think Ribas is a bit overhyped? I’m tempted to put like 10 bucks on Rodriguez. She should already have figured a fix for her weakness against wrestling heavy fighters.

No, I don't think Ribas is overhyped. This is a good matchup for her.
It's WMMA, which means a big favorite can lose just because of something stupid like she recently broke up with her boyfriend, or that her Starbucks coffee wasn't prepared correctly that morning. That being said, Ribas has decent striking, is the better wrestler, has better BJJ, and has good cardio.
Rodriguez won R1 and R2 against Calvillo in December 2019, then finally got taken down in R3 and got raped so hard that it was a 10-8 round and the fight ended as a draw (I had money on Rodriguez). Her next fight was 7.5 months later in July 2020 against Carla Esparza, and Carla was able to get Marina down and win a split-decision that should've been 29-28 across the board (I had money on Rodriguez, as me and everyone else assumed Rodriguez fixed her hole in wrestling, which she didn't). Now we are here again 6 months later against another woman who has above average wrestling for WMMA, but can also strike and has much better BJJ than Rodriguez's previous two opponents.
Rodriguez: a great pure mui thai striker, below average wrestling defense, zero BJJ.
Calvillo: BJJ with average wrestling and below average striking.
Esparza: good wrestling, slightly below average striking that's improving, below average BJJ.
Ribas: Good BJJ, above average striking, above average wrestling and has good clinches to get opponents down. |
Thanks man. I really appreciate it. |

Fight is over. Zhumagulov didn't stop the take down in Round 3. It was 1-1 before that.
So frustrating. |

I can't believe these guys went to a decision. Prachnio has lost 3 times in a via TKO in Round, and the ITD line was -610. |

Because it's WMMA.
It doesn't make sense sometimes. |

The event just ended like 5 minutes ago.
Dustin TKO`ed Conor. He owned him with calf kicks like I expected, then Conor was a sitting duck. |

Hm I thought conor was doing good in the fight and dustin seemed wobbly at times, then a counter changed everything it seemed... obv those calf kicks was likely hurting his movement and making him uncomfortable but it seemed the fight shifted in a blink of an eye |
