Although bad obviously, even though these are temporary and the children get to live in way better quarters than e.g. Paid for student accommodation here (that was compared to prison FYI).

But the audacity to compare this to holocaust by some people in the US media is just ridiculous

I couldn't believe how stupid your laws are on immigration. When my friend hired by Google told me couldn't go because he lost a visa lottery I just couldn't believe he's not messing with me for a long time

they don't have google in your friend's country?

stupid sensationalism.

I wonder what is the reason for separating them, it seems like such a retarded PR move

There's a lot of child trafficking apparently (unsurprisingly) and people were using children to get treated better so a lot of them are not their parents at all.
So they detain them do DNA tests etc. think is the process is so slow I guess they just started sending back just adults for that reason right away.
Instead of you know, ship both on the bus back and basically sentence the kids to slavery or death.

You either have to be a cruel cunt and do that
Or you have to be a cruel cunt and detain people for a very long time to process them all
Or you have to be a cruel cunt and separate legitimate parents from kids
Or you have to let criminals and child traffickers into your country freely

US needs to either secure the border, allocate billions for much faster process or just have one of these straight up awful, no-win options
I think it'd surprise noone if this was a well orchestrated move to go to the extreme to force hand of the law makes for that extra funding for immigration tackle Trump wants for political points

Besides the usual mix of stupidity and abject cruelty, Trump was also trying to use family separation as a bargaining chip for funding the wall that you're supposed to pay for.

yea this is on par for trump's 'negotiation tactics'. much like if something costs $50, he'd offer $10 hoping to end up paying $30, he wants a stricter policy, and presents something truly abhorrent as a viable option to move the line for what the other party might agree to.

Yeah now he signed executive order not to separate them.
But I wouldn't demonise what's gonna happen next - people being detained for a very long time instead, that's kinda inevitable.

they're not all from mexico just because they arrived at the border and part of the strategy or nature of asylum seeking is your situation is so bad you don't have any papers to verify your story

BLUMPF

the law detailing this detention is part of the homeland security act of 2002, passed by democratic congress, and the same practice was done by obama but the nonbiased and upstanding professional media was squandering its freedom of the press then because their team was president

If they were simply families, apparently pretty significant % of "parents" parents are not parents at all, the process includes e.g. DNA tests, that's why it takes so long to process people. Can't remember what it was but like 15%? Don't even know the source now

What scares me is that the left media is so damn retarded and Trump exposes it so well that he will actually win a 2nd term

I guess that would be well deserved though. I'm slowly starting to think Trump is necessary to shift the whole paradigm in the media, it would probably be the best thing that could come out of his administration.

On another note I dont understand why does a country like the USA reject immigrants. It has huge resources, it has plenty of space and it could definitely implement a registration system for new people that intentionally run there. I'm not saying they should go ahead and publicly announce that everyone is welcome, but rather not turn people away, there s not much reason for that tbh and new people could easily be kept track of if a good infrastructure is built...

because Mexico has 120+ million habitants and I dont see a rason why anybody in the working class simply not going to the US making 10x more money, how is that not obvious to you?

DNA test is retarded, they have to wait months/years to DNA test in actual felony cases, imagine that working for migrants, they are not responsible to sort their shit, just send them back in the revolving door

There is media that is owned by capitalists, (like NYT, FOX news, CNN, ect), and there is media owned by states (RT, Telesur, Aljazeera), and then there is media that exists outside of power structures, and is supported by donations. (Democracy Now, Real News Network). You can make predictions on what the news is going to be and who it's going to be favourable to.

There is no way Trump is going to have a positive effect on the media from what i can see; he has pushed 'the news' towards having the media focus on the crazy things he says. I think he smart enough to know that saying crazy things creates a spectacle which forces profit driven media to focus on such a spectacle. His antics have made the media a bit more superficial than they already were, driving it away from the important issues.

America has always been a very strongly nativist country, and it has always been a very fearful society. It has for a long time been afraid of immigrants. If you go back 100 years there were psychologists offering 'proofs' that immigrants from Europe were mentally retarded/imbeciles/morons, ect, all of this evidence being based on IQ scores. So part it comes from fear ideology being used to govern the masses. And probably a lot of it comes from capitalists wanting to keep a society purged from those that don't contribute to the sole human value-making billionaires richer. It is similar to why black men from ghetto's are put in jail. They don't contribute to the sole human value, so they can be put in jail with drug possession laws, and perhaps you can squeeze some juice out of them for cheap labour that you get in private prisons.

pretty weird that you didnt mention wikileaks in the independent media that exist out of power structures since its by far the main one and the only that has hit the status quo so hard that Assange has been in hiding for many years now.

The way you phrase that is as if you believed that the wealthy see no productivity in young black people so they imprision them and put them in slavery... instead of that simply being the result of state overreach with paternalistic laws that "protect the public from itself" like prohibitionism
