as someone who comes from a starcraft, war3 background, can someone tell me how complex and fun is it to watch dota2 compared to those? like the level of play and amount of joy u get from watching top players play. Right now im like wtf is this shit, but i might give a game a try if u say something positive |

dota is most definitely an enjoyable thing to watch. You're gonna have to spend quite a few hours playing (maybe over 1000?) To really enjoy and understand the intricacies of what's going on though. |

Like any other great game, there are multiple layers that add complexity to this game -- knowledge of the game (107 heroes in dota 2 so far, each with 4 unique abilities, plus 130 unique items), hero/item micro, item/skill build selection, drafting, individual/team coordination, game sense (map awareness, timing, predicting opponents movement), and a whole host of other things. I guess it's like playing WC3 exclusively with heroes, but then 9 other players join you with heroes of their own and things get way more challenging and fun.
I guess the best way to enjoy the game is to learn some of the abilities that individual heroes have and the items that can be used at the liquid dota wiki here.
Plus this time around the broadcasters set up a newbie channel that tries to explain all the basic things so that might be a good way to start watching dota. |

compared to war3, remove all normal units, multiple hero by 5, multiply item builds possibilities by 20, remove all macro, remove the issue of "timing" for any player w >90 IQ
still though the game is somewhat fun to watch |

Check out the newcomer stream which will help you a lot. http://www.twitch.tv/dota2ti_noob If you come from a competitive background then maybe some of the stuff on this stream might seem a little basic, but bare in mind, dota is a very complex game. Just understanding what certain heroes do will increase your viewing pleasure massively. Highly recommend watching newcomer stream. Its a fantastic idea and it has got alot of positive feedback.
Final is gonna be so fucking sick though. Winners taking $5mil. Its crazy.
Also when you play this game for so long, what seems like a very simple game (only control 1 hero, how hard can it be??) is actually very deep and layered upon layer of complexity. So you do watch games and go, wow holy shit, he just did this and that. amazing play etc. |

these commentators make dota2 a great spectator sport. seems like they just all gel so well together. i tried playing dota 2 and i just couldnt do it, but I think it excels as a spectator sport. even the drafting is fun to watch in dota2 whereas in hon i found it to be quite boring |

Can't think of one but it's a heavy nuker with an imba 6s silence that also amplifies magic damage to a single target by 45%. So kind of like a lina on steroids minus the stun and autoattack damage?
Skywrath ult does 1400 dmg at lvl 3 in a radius split between heroes in the aoe, so it comboes really well with heroes that lock targets down like clockwerk or enigma. With the silence applied that's almost 2k magic dmg on a single target on a 20s cooldown that drops to 0 when you get an aghs on that hero. Costs 800 mana though =D |

you missed a ton of drama bro
TL;DR Era has severe anxiety issues and was throwing up and stuff during episodes while traveling with the team. He was subbed in by Excalibur for a few tourneys. Era then asks Valve if the team is even allowed to replace him for TI4 and Valve says no. Fnatic of course doesn't want to risk their success at the biggest tourney of the year, as well as Era's health, by traveling and competing with him.
Valve wins in the end and Era plays for TI4, apparently doing alright so far.
No hard feelings between the parties, just a shitty situation for everyone involved. |
