Ayahuasca experience

Anyone here in LP tried this before?

I've been watching alot of Joe Rogan's podcast and he basically has guests talk about their experience with "AYAHUASKA".

I was thinking of going through this and trying this experience, but I want to do some research before making my decision.



The video explains alot about consciousness, and how it opens your mind since you go through a psychedelic trip, and apparently will make you think about life and look at it in a different way after experiencing it.

and how would you summarize your DMT trips? i heard its one of lifes best experiencies, also heard it changes you as a person which doesnt seem appealing even if they say it changes you in the positive way

The whole "omg psych make u lose ur mind omg" argument is false, essentially.
There are fake LSD substitute research chems known as NBOMEs going around, which can kill you and are basically shit, but if you're dealing with mushrooms or real LSD or DMT you will make a full neural recovery. In fact, DMT trips are so short and intense in duration because our bodies are wired to deal with it since it lives in our pineal gland our entire lives.

When people say it changes you, what they mean is that you view the world differently with the same rational mind you were using all your life before the trip. You don't lose any intellect, focus, etc.

If you're familiar with eastern philosophy, Buddhism, Taoism, etc. it basically is a life hack to achieve instant enlightenment. If only for 5 minutes (in real time anyway, in the trip time doesn't exist so if someone told you you were gone for 4 days or 3 seconds you would believe either one.)

There is a documentary called DMT: The Spirit Molecule and a book you should check out. Goes into ayahuasca a bunch and will shed some light on the depth of what you're in for.

I'd summarize my trips but I laugh out loud at the notion of finding words powerful enough to even begin to scratch the surface of what a DMT trip is like.

Just stay away from Datura and make sure you're with hippies who know what they're doing before you start tripping on psychs.

I'd also like to try it some day, but like Baal said, first I want to try 'lighter' psychedelics like LSD or shrooms since DMT is the strongest one out there so you gotta be careful

i drank ayahuasca 21 times made me insane, schizophrenic, psychotic, I still deal with symptoms 3-4 years later, Im looking to euthanasize myself, not because of ayahuasca or my current symptoms, just because Im going to have to live in grinding poverty until I die and fuck that shit, I rather just die now.

Woodbrave from LP did many trips and took it many times.

He took a journal of every night.

During the first few days it was tons of throwing up and hallucinations.

He has been a totally different person ever since, not sure if for the better or worse.

The drug had effected his mind for multiple years, he told me that himself.

He was making 100k a year playing $12 180 man sngs.

Now hes in school (after taking it, he never really won again, although he didn't play much afterwards)

I think you should be careful, but obviously do some reading and come to your own decision.

i don't have to much to add but yeah if you're even considering doing this, at least try mushrooms first and if you can't handle that then you shouldn't even think about doing this

I know other people who dont have any mental illness and have done alot of ayahuasca and found it to be beneficial to their lives
however for me, the more i drank, the more insane and crazier i became, unaware i was becoming crazy. it took me 2 years to come to the realization holy shit im insane.

If this is such a strong drug, shouldn't you prepare yourself mentally and physically before trying it? I'm guessing it could mess you up if you're weak mentally at the time of using

{My first psychedelic was DMT, I disagree with baal because DMT even though is a strong psychedelic it only last 10 minutes so if you have a bad trip it will be over sooner than with the more "mild" psychedelics. Set & setting are very important, you should be conscious of why you are doing it and that the place where you take it is safe and you are not alone.

Psychedelics experiences are very subjective. Some people would say that is life-changing but I don't think it happens to most of the people and the ones that do change their lives is because they knew and want to change their lives and in the trip they found what they already knew but from another perspective.

My life change because somehow the second time I take DMT it show me that I was being selfish with the people that love me most and some other friend that didnt went to college, have a daughter that he doesnt support, doesn't have a job was very excited because in his trip he was flying around Paris lol.

It is possible that you will relate well with the famous psychologist C.G. Jung. He had a psychic experience (in another perspective, a psychic "break" ) and had an abundance of visions and psychic journeyings for two solid years through his twenties. He later went on to state that these were the most important moments of his life and that everything he accomplished in his career was simply a pale attempt to relate what he learned through his experience and reflection upon said psychic journeys. I recommend first reading C.G. Jung's Man and His Symbols, although my recommendation doesn't mean much especially since C.G. Jung's has a book that he specifically went through and recalled his psychic visions, which led him to go on and produce Jung's "Red Book" which is an amazing illuminated manuscript.

(illuminated manuscript means it is a book with illustrations, in this case by Jung of the things he witnessed.)

I don't know about the rest of Australia, but Melbourne is one of the best places for DMT / mushrooms. A lot of people here synthesize their own DMT from nettles. A chick my housemate is seeing makes her own, it's incredibly common and easy to do. They don't police it too vigorously because it's so uncommon and niche.

And yeah, I've heard horror stories of people losing their shit after trying psychedelics but it almost always seems to be a case of a pre-existing mental condition being antagonized by the experience. Obviously not an expert but all I can give you is my own experiences, I have tripped MANY times off a variety of psychedelics, some trips were VERY strong (complete ego death), and I am 100% fine today.

It's easier to find it in "changa" form than crystal, but that's good because the changa form is a little less intense. If you've never gone into a psych trip before it's more than enough to open your eyes to the idea you're toying with

My first ever psych trip was with a huge dose of mushrooms and a bunch of friends and I had a blast. I can definitely see how it would scare the shit out of people though.

I have not dealt with any other psychedelics; no mushrooms, LSD, etc. and really, to that point, had little intention of trying any. Part of the entire trip through TotWoL was that you would learn a little bit about ayahuasca's place in indigenous culture. I think there are some companies that cater to the curious in semi spa like settings. We went into the jungle, stayed with shamans and participated in ceremonies. We had tickets booked in advance and after adhering to the diet for several weeks and flew into Lima and took another flight into Iquitos. I suggest Dawn on the Amazon as a nice point of contact if you go to this area. The patron is informative and friendly, the food is good. They serve menu items sensitive to the ayahuasca diet. The diet is important to stick to for 'correct' results. -What was your mind frame like before you went? I was naively curious and excited. It had an Indiana Jones element to it - parading into the jungle into what was then unknown to me. I was going to be gone for a few weeks. The plan was about two weeks at the temple. I was aware there would be no running water, no power (only an emergency gas generator used for some cooking and, well, emergencies. I saw we would have little huts to stay in (I cannot remember the term at the moment) and I was ready for an adventure. I had decided this was going to be an adventure and I was trying to prepare myself to meet mother nature in spirit form. I had some naysayers who worried about my thrill seeking, saying I could go to an amusement park. That made me want to go more. How many people do you meet everyday who have gone and done things of this nature? I was determined to keep a journal and I believe it was suggested. It is stressed we need to purify ourselves before taking ayahuasca. It can vary in potency. We took a bus ride out of Iquitos for over an hour and left town, following the river. We came to an old beat up, seemingly abandoned old beach where jungle dwellers would come to trade with locals. Kids jumped off of an old lighthouse tower with daredevil maneuvers and a lonely vendor sold cold cokes. We took an old wood boat, really a canoe, with a wood cover, and it had a prop motor. We puttered along the river and disappeared into a tributary. We weaved around debris and the jungle got closer and the water more shallow. Hands in the boat. Eventually we met some guides and they helped carry our packs and water and miscellaneous supplies for a hike that lasted about an hour or just over. We reached the site and were greeted with a manicured path and flowers. Along the way we came across jungle residents and their flat platforms with subdued fires and grungy, bright colored hand me downs from the '80s. We had the temple centered in the site. A large circular wooden structure with mosquito screens a wooden domed roof. The shamans residence was a shared quarters adjacent to the temple, along a hill and its deep, narrow ravine. The dining hall and kitchen was next to the shaman's place and up the hill from the temple. Our private rooms dotted the surrounding hills. A small pond was at the bottom, center of the hills, near the temple. The shamans would collect water from this and concoct a bath and perfume using flower petals, jungle herbs and mysticism. We had a purification ritual our first day and this was required before any ayahuasca consumption. The ayahuasca ceremonies themselves varied, but I hesitate to share too much because I think each person will have a unique perspective and experience. They took place at night, with shamanic rituals - meditation, smoking mupacho, or jungle tobacco. The tobacco is the husband to mother ayahuasca. The shamans would chant and clear their throats and make vulgar noises to call or dispel spirits. They would do individualized singing of iciros to align and correct our chakras. We would be summoned to the center, a few at a time, to take a shot of ayahuasca. To be clear - it is disgusting. It has the consistency and appearance of vomit. It burns when you drink it. You will instantly regret it and feel sick. It is hot and viscous. We return to our mats in our circle around the temple and I, personally, immediately light a jungle cigarette and smoke the mupacho. It soothes the nausea and helps clear the lingering presence from your mouth. You can inhale if you want - it is very harsh, think cigars - but to roll it around and blow it out is enjoyable, even if you don't regularly smoke. The jungle comes alive at night and everyone sits in complete darkness and silence for what seems like forever. At some point, the shamans begin singing again, almost chanting. Some in unison, others in their own high pitched battle. It sounds like gibberish and I felt annoyed. It hurt my ears. There was nothing pleasant. At some point, I didn't hear the singing, but they were still singing. It was as if by their vibrations I was removed from the other noises and pings of angst or recognition from anything else - I was held in a trance like state, almost. I remember the singing eventually became beautiful and I started to see things, which I will keep to myself unless pressed. I came back to the burning sensation in my eyes as a shaman spewed a perfume mist into my face and I became alert. I was sitting with crossed legs on my mat in the total darkness, but could make out other shamans making the rounds to their participants in the temple. I was very tired and slept on my mat. The second ritual I increased my dose of ayahuasca and had a much more potent experience. Notes: lots of bug spray, I was eaten alive. Wear longs sleeves and be mindful of bare feet. There are parasites in the dirt. Don't use any untreated water on bug bites, cuts, or your mouth and eyes. Don't shave in the jungle. If you want to know more just let me know,

Other notes:

The ayahuasca stays in you for a bit and stays with you for some time - not months or anything, but you need to stick to the diet for days after drinking ayahuasca.

Many guests at the temple were fans of shrooms and LSD and DMT but all swear that ayahuasca is more potent and life affirming / changing. I am not sure about negative trips with ayahuasca, as I said, I am sure they vary. I think it is probably consistent with all psychedelics to try to go in with a positive mindset and happy thoughts, etc. That didn't necessarily work for me, or I think, anyone, according to the shamans.

They said we would experience what we needed to experience. At least for me, I think that was accurate.

my second or third time drink ayahuasca I left the ceremony area to go to the bathroom, in the bathroom I saw this thing on the wall and I started breathing and it kept expanding into this marvelous design everywhere on the wall in the bathroom stall. I put my hand over the designs to see if Im projecting this and my hand covered the designed. I was so elated I screamed. lol If Im hallucinating these designs they should be showing up on my hands. But they weren't. how crazy is that?

When I did something called Ayahuasca delivered in a semi-foul drink I did not hallucinate at all and had some lolexperiences. When I say lolexperiences I mean both what I did and what was witnessed around me, as we were in a big yoga studio that is shaped like a Teepee, each of the attendees arranged in a big circle on our sleeping mats. k2o4 and his lovely wife had invited me to go!

I think I will tell this story into my microphone and share it sometime once this mood grips me again.

Potency Levels - Strongest to Weakest.
: Auyasca >>> LSD >>> Extacy >>> Mushrooms >>> weed.

I had many of the same similar paranoia etc after large doses of LSD, very similar to Woodbrave's experiences on Auyasca. Lasted years, same thing.

I was not in a strong state of mind one weekend and many hits of LSD and a lil xtc messed my brain up for ~2-3 years pretty badly.

Still not 110% stable.

Was like 30-40% stable for a few years.

Now around 80-100, depends the day.

I became so mentally ill with paranoia and schizophrenia, I could not attend a movie theatre because evil voices were relentless. I could not sleep in the house with other people because I was afraid of raping them. I slept in parking lots in a car. I couldnt stay at the house any more. So I just started to drive to california for heroin to OD on. I had heart pain whenever I got close to san fransico. I drove for 3 weeks, sleeping in the car before ending back up in Pennsylvania. Even the truck driver stops I couldnt sleep near anyone else. Voices telling me to rape and murder, rape children, just the most evil shit imaginable, non stop for 3 years. I made it to PA and decide to get a gun to shoot myself with. But my mom took me to the mental hospital before I got the gun. They gave me risperdal and it helped with the voices slightly. U have no idea how hard it is to be around another person when voices are telling you to fuck them, murder them, all sorts of shit. Some of the shit I cant even say aloud. Racist voices, sexist voices, For like 6 months I believed people could hear my thoughts. While having all these evil thoughts. Anyway its been years and I been to maybe 6 psych wards with a bunch of suicide attempts. But I had suicide attempts before ayahuasca.

my hands started talking to me, they would open to say yes, close to say no, they would take me grocery shopping, id ask anything in this aisle and they fucking say yes or no, and they pick out the food. its fucking crazy shit
that happened after 7 sessions of ayahusca
after 14 sessions, my hands led me to find words on the internet, Brave Truth Autonomy Integrity Trust, those kind of words and like 20 of them. And everytime I found a word I would puke. And these words were placed on my body and this thing would sting my skin in the location of the word to bring my attention to that word. I fucking thought I was chosen.
I drank alot of ayahuasca though. I still have disturbing evil voices. and its been 3-4 years.

I heard of DMT from joe rogan as well.
Despite the insanity it caused me, it was the most fun Ive ever had in my life. The best nights of my life were on ayahuasca, I only suspect a time that could be better is the day I die and start tripping balls as I die. I know the best nights of my life already happened.

Wow, thank you for sharing. I can't help but say try yogic breathing and the practice of witnessing your self and your thoughts rather than fighting them or automatically "going with them". You will likely be led into your past and eventually childhood memories, and fears.. It will be cathartic for you to let it play out in meditation. This is just basic advice for any drug trip and life is a hell of a trip, so I hope not to appear presumptuous.

Thanks, it was a good experience. It definitely melts the ego and the sensory gateways of the body-brain-mind are unraveled. I had a very interesting time the day afterward while smoking weed that I believe further clarifies the effect that Ayahuasca has on the brain. To stay short, a summary of the interesting time the day afterward was that in a room with 3 different conversations going on, my thoughts and my soul were claving to every conversation and it was difficult to concentrate. What I mean by this is that literally every conversation seemed to be clearly allegorical and the topic of it was myself. It was similar in experience to the description of a schizophrenic's auditory gating failure or other "I get overwhelmed" symptoms, where one hears everything around them and if you are unfamiliar, the (soul)claving is the automatic self-relating and adhesion of the mind to a thing.

Are you familiar with how some people have the habit of relating everything to their own experience and regurgitate that out loud even when the history or depth of themself that they reveal appears irrelevant to the conversation? My mind was doing that inside of itself.

The effect has lasted to a certain degree and IMO has truly become more of a super-power that has enhanced my ability to conceptualize and differentiate the Ego from the Self as well as its other parts. It has enhanced my ability to understand why people speak and relate to one another as they do, it restored my sense of the Ghost in the Machine and to identify the "boxes" or the different ways that people go about thinking. More succinctly, the experience enlightened my perspective. BUT super-power or not, this auto-self-relating must be kept in check. Oh, and it turns out that all "thinking" is a form of self-relating no matter the topic. But that is obvious now, isn't it? Being "Trapped in our own heads" and all.

It was an important step in breaking me out of the Matrix of the Ego's unconscious illusions and today I weave my own illusions and dream (well, as God Wills, of course).

Everyone's results vary and reveal themselves differently. I hit upon Ayahuasca at a time when I was searching for meaning, for time away to contemplate my life, and for the way out of a ~16 year depression. Having already been in possession of a large body of mythological knowledge, the experience helped me assimilate the experience into my consciousness without falling to paranoia of being (or becoming) schizophrenic despite the extreme weirdness of various experiences that arise in life. What I knew of the psyche and how to live out my life no longer had to be intellectual fluff. The explicit melting of assumptive thoughts, of the Ego walls built by depression's anxiety, was what I needed and got.

Raw action, the grind, was restored in prominence as the key to leaving behind inaction and depression.

p.s. re: mythological knowledge, I posted a relevant blog, all takers can feel free to challenge me although I do not guarantee a drawn out affair.

Dunno how many of you believe in spirits/God/stuff like this, but many people say that when you are blacked out, high from some hard drugs, super drunk, add any state when you completely lose control of yourself, evil spirits are free to come and go. Amazing how much of your experience mirrors my own except that I suspect I was lucky enough to have some better grounding (maybe literal electrical grounding in the brain..? or my familial and personal history -- lucky things I have stumbled upon?) because all of my hallucinations have been self-triggered or I set the stage for them and was ready to accept the vision. i think the ayahuasca consumption as well as the conditions may have exacerbated josephcalgary's symptoms from his mental illness.

i have some issues myself and i am not certain to what extent ayahuasca has contributed or helped, but i can say that the experience i had (the trip, the people i was with, the ayahuasca, etc) opened my eyes and thinking back on it, i am still learning from it years later. something i will forever hold, hopefully vividly, in my memory.

Hallucinogens are not the cause of all those bad experiences ppl list here. People and their interiors are. In other words it wont give you paranoia, but it will very likely make you aware of your fears if you have them buried somewhere.
Also I did both couple times at least, and some others, and LSD is more potent then Aya imho.

Anyhow to anyone considering doing them I advice good settings(less urban the better), also intent will always play a big role on how(where) the trip will take you.

They can be extremely useful to those looking to challenge the only reality they have ever known.

Maybe I was guillible and susceptible, but Ayahuasca made me think/feel like a king. And I like an idiot believed it.. It took me like 3-5 months to realize that was bullshit and Im delusional.
There are side effects to taking ayahuasca. My feet started bubbling and itching and i scratched them open and they burned so bad I couldnt walk for a few days. They carried me back into the jungle. My legs started itching and I scratched them open too. Man I dont have any advice to give. Ayahuasca can make you feel things you knew existed but never felt. Its magical in my opinion. Straight up magic.
