Yup, it sucked big fat hairy balls in the beginning, partially got over it. Decided to start shaving my head at 23, been doing so for 1,5 years now. Sometimes it still sucks and it feels fucking unfair that I started to bald so early. You just have to realize that it's not that bad really, it is what it is and many far more worse things can happen.
If you are just noticing that you're balding you probably have at least a couple years left where you can still have hair without people thinking you should just shave it.
For some people, rogaine apparently works very well. There's a pill, can't remember the name, which was originally used for benign prostatahyperplasi. It is very effective but decreases your sexual drive and can lead to permanent impotency. So.. if you want to risk not being able to get your dick hard, that's an option, buddy.

is that Propecia (finasteride)? i looked into Propecia and found that it was like $2/pill...! can get generic brand a bit cheaper but still seems pricey. i heard the side effects only effect 1% of people who take it, but it was just an anecdotal comment so idk if that's accurate.
going to have to look into Rogaine as well.
the frustrating part is that from what I understand, all of these products are supposed to stop hair loss but don't cause regrowth. so how can i decide whether they're working or not if i don't know how much hair i would've lost during x period without taking them?
the only permanent solution (that I know of) is hair transplant where they take hair from other parts of your body and insert them on your head. I don't know if that's rational for someone in your sutiation since you likley have a few years left. I would just wait it out. I think in today's age its not as big a deal as it was 20+ years ago

Work on your beard game.
I know some guys who aren't ruggedly handsome and bald but have the beard down pat and it does wonders. +1,000 to wisdom, authenticity, depth in the world, and power if done right.

Propecia sounds familiar. - Yeah, don't know. Only information I could find about it was more or less from companies selling it, or somebody saying it worked wonders, being amazing, 100% satisfaction (felt a lot like the company making their own amateur videos and/or comments to me) & some posting about how it had made them impotent, which for all I know were made from companies selling another hair loss treatment. Didn't feel like I could trust anything, just "knew" that it's possible to become impotent. Therefor I decided not to take the chance. So before you decide to take it, I think a smart thing would be to consult a doctor. Personally, if I chose to use propecia I would have no problem using a cheaper brand since they are using the same active substance.
Rogaine can cause some regrowth, it's much more common for it to slow down or stop the hair loss. Also, yes, it's very hard to tell if it's working unless you actually start to regain hair.

Pretty sure it's not permanent. As far as I know, they only use the hair from the back of your head that won't fall out and use it to fill out what's still on your head. So as your original "top head" hair continues to fall out it will thin out again. The transplanted hair will remain though.
