It's sad that your internet persona transfers over into real life. If you were in North America, it wouldn't be so bad, since you could get away with saying stuff like this to employees at a store/mall without there being any physical harm. You cant do this in Asia.

Also, I would never buy electronics in Asia unless it was in Korea, and it has to be from a certain store. And, if you buy electronics yourself, instead of having a native Thai person doing it, expect to pay more, and/or not be able to get a discount/deal on anything.

yes I'm a noob here in asia, but I wasnt "saying shit". I was calm the whole way, didnt scream, called them names or anything like that. Again, I was trying to "fight" for what I think was right, but of course I know now that the smarter decision would be to just accept the replacement.

i lived in thailand for 3 months this winter and i could see myself get into the exact same situation as tutz here (basically) i mean its a fucking mall not some backalley in bangkok

really? if i didn't know anything about their return policy before-hand i would consider myself extremely lucky if they actually refunded cash in his situation and def wouldn't assume it's standard (i was in thailand for 5 months but i hold the same assumptions for US stores). of course it's fine that he asked, but driving away customers without even knowing what their refund policy is seems really silly.

yes its silly, I'm glad tutz has acknowledged this now. hopefully he will put his new found understanding of the non-universality of various customs (ie return policies) and the way that people's rights are viewed in different cultures, and be able to better recognize a new situation when he's in one, and measure out a more appropriate and adaptive response
