you sound like a noob man, you can't be talking shit to thai's like that. You know how many super hero white boys get beat up on a regular basis?? ALso, there's no refund in thailand unless you buy shit from Siam Paragon and even then its a maybe. You should have taken the replacement and kept it moving. Luckily you were able to get away, thai's are bastards when it comes to beating up foreigners, they'll stomp you on the face and take out all their saved aggression. They all love to get in a spot to beat up a foreigner, don't you see all the foreigners walking around with pretty thai chicks? Thai dudes have a inner hate for us.
This coulda been you right here, watch your tongue and tone next time lol, or you'll end up maybe even worse
Go there get a new pair that works and ebay it for $300.
Some things worth fighting for, $400 pair of headphones is not one of them. From your story I see you could have been stabbed here. What da hell you doing man?
In US everyone is happy as long as all the prices are rising. Unless its crude oil - Marc Faber

The title should be changed from "got into a fight" to "got beat down, then landed one punch while running away".
It's sad that your internet persona transfers over into real life. If you were in North America, it wouldn't be so bad, since you could get away with saying stuff like this to employees at a store/mall without there being any physical harm. You cant do this in Asia.
Also, I would never buy electronics in Asia unless it was in Korea, and it has to be from a certain store. And, if you buy electronics yourself, instead of having a native Thai person doing it, expect to pay more, and/or not be able to get a discount/deal on anything.

oh yeah I got beaten so what? whats up with this retarted comment? so I should be ashamed of that? put 3 guys around you while you are seated and they start beating you and see how long you last until you pass out. wanna bash me about getin beated? I would happily jump against you in a fight. beat me and you earn the right to say stuff like that.

I think it is sad that you clearly make an effort to put me down with your comments, makes you feel better somehow I guess? you think you know so much about my personality now because of this story hum? by the way you judge me you must be so superior right?
yes I'm a noob here in asia, but I wasnt "saying shit". I was calm the whole way, didnt scream, called them names or anything like that. Again, I was trying to "fight" for what I think was right, but of course I know now that the smarter decision would be to just accept the replacement.

Do you know your rights like you were shouting about in the mall? Do you know the laws regarding returns in Thailand? I know for most east asian countries they just don't do returns, that's the culture they have.

Yeah but you blatantly called them out in front of their customers, telling them not to buy their shit. Like someone else pointed out earlier in the thread that's a huge offense (losing face) and was prob even more offensive than any shouting/insulting you could've done to their face. It's one thing to fuck with them, another to fuck with their money (customers), come on man.

yes, I was wrong in doing this, I guess I was so pissed that I didnt quite think it thru?
would NEVER guess they would beat me for that. guess its a lesson I learned here...
i lived in thailand for 3 months this winter and i could see myself get into the exact same situation as tutz here (basically) i mean its a fucking mall not some backalley in bangkok
and i had no idea about the no refund thing either : P but i wouldnt maybe count on it, but for a pair of 400$ headphones in a "legit" mall i would kinda expect it since u get reciets and shit
If you have hit a Thai guy and he fell on the ground and you go to the police and they watch the tape, you have a good chance of getting gang raped by nasty Thai gangsters in some of their shitty prisons. Ever watched Banged up Abroad? Yes, you were in your right to ask for your money back but in another country with shitty prisons and unknown laws, you just DON'T fuck with the locals. That's a rule of thumb. You may, however go and take a shit in that shop. Just a quick smooth, dry shit. Pants off, drop the bomb, pants on, run=gone in 15 seconds. That's what mature men do in a dire situation!

really? if i didn't know anything about their return policy before-hand i would consider myself extremely lucky if they actually refunded cash in his situation and def wouldn't assume it's standard (i was in thailand for 5 months but i hold the same assumptions for US stores). of course it's fine that he asked, but driving away customers without even knowing what their refund policy is seems really silly.
yes its silly, I'm glad tutz has acknowledged this now. hopefully he will put his new found understanding of the non-universality of various customs (ie return policies) and the way that people's rights are viewed in different cultures, and be able to better recognize a new situation when he's in one, and measure out a more appropriate and adaptive response
