Khal Drogo easily
I mean all his life he basically did nothing but fighting
+ he was ~ 240lbs and had enourmous athletic bodytype

well his bodyguard got smashed by the knight (hmmm forgot the name, The Bear?), whatever the knight that guards Daenarys, so that gives a hint that knights could be superior!

I will go:

1. Barristan Selmy
2. The Hound
3. Arthur Dayne
4. Khal Drogo
5. Jaime Lannister

Was not sure if you went by the books or tv-show, but i guess it would be spoilerish to talk about reasons for order going by the books so i wont.

Oh wait, i totally forgot to mention it, but i meant to rank those people BASED ON THEIR prime. When you think about it if i asked to rank them of right now, theokoles would be the worst since he is dead.

RIGHT NOW i would have to agree crixus is possibly worst than spartacus/gannicus, considering all that happened to him.

also when you say "Cabarus was a tough opponent but Crixus was still a noob and he wasnt obliterated like he was against theocles" this is in some ways arguable. Noob crixus didnt really do anything to cabarus. Against theokoles, on the other hand, he actually "outskilled" theokoles by managing a sword hit that should normally have been lethal to most people, but theokoles was just such a toughie he nearly didn't care about it.

Also you would have to agree cabarus pwned everything for the whole fight, until gannicus somehow went berzerk out of nowhere (after looking at Onameus in the eyes) . its possible for "weaker" warriors to defeat stronger ones when using adrenaline, but i think that fight made it clear cabarus is normally stronger than gannicus, but hes whitout a doubt not even half what theokoles was.

I think this was the same thing as totally untrained spartacus defeating 4 warriors: even tho the 4 warriors should have won, spartacus went under extreme adrenaline and won, same thing gannicus did.

Btw about game of throne, i think its much tougher to rank them considering we don't see as many fights. If i had to take a guess i would say Kal Drogo considering to be at his place he just needs to be the strongest of them all, but ill just assume this question is reserved for people who have read the books, which i did not.

First of all when you are having a swordfight to death your adrenaline is at its peak, also adrenaline doesnt work as you think, its not turning into super sayayin, usually has a negative effect, adrenaline clouds the mind, actually im pretty sure that any master swordsman will advice against getting emotional (adrenaline) and keeping your cool is far more useful.

A practical example of this is Fedor, he always was stoic and he constantly used to beat opponents often by outsmarting them or having a strong game plan.

Obv, Drogo is an allusion to Attila, the nomad barbarian attacking the western empires, its well documented that they were far better warriors than Roman soldiers.

Its illogical to assume that some noble who took swordsmanship classes and has been in a battle a couple of times would be a better fighter than the huge barbarian leader who lives for war

Lol way of an attempt to bring real science into a fictional scenario

It also becomes clear u have no clue about fighting whatsoever
Adrenaline ?
Lol

Adrenaline is maybe good for people who cant fight since it gives u maximum strength while giving pain immunity for ~ 30-60 seconds or something and after that your stamina will be completely drained ...
Adrenaline will also keep you from doing anything tactical or strategical ... all u can do under adrenaline is blind rage attacks

No trained fighter will ever want to fight under adrenaline

As soon as u have any skills as a fighter u want to keep adrenaline levels as low as possible

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)Last edit: 18/03/2012 00:05

Anyways
Macros the Black Sorcerer in his prime > Gandalf the grey
Also Ashen Shugar in his Prime > any fighter from Game of Thrones

+ Gandalf >>> the Witchking -> man the scene in the movies where the Whitchking on his Nazgul threatens Gandalf is just ridiculous

Ok guys if you think adrenaline is meaningless or whatever, then complain to the series creator, it is clear that MANY times in the series, some characters are loosing a battle badly due to being outmatched (best example is the very first arena fight of spartacus) and then a little something (thinking about their wife, looking at someone, etc) happens and they suddenly fight way better.

It might not truly be adrenaline, it might be something else, but my point was when someone beats someone else only because of that, it doesnt mean he is truly better imo.

I do not claim i am an expert of adrenaline and its effect, or that its a realistic thing, all i say is its very clear many spartacus battles have been won because of it, or something like that, not always because of purely better skill.

Umm i watch some spartacus because of funny violence/nudity, but you know its a big pile of shit when it comes to reality? So why do you refeer to spartacus script when having a science debate?

i dont think drogo is neccesarily the most powerful, he definitely has the biggest body but it doesnt mean he would win anyone listed at 1v1. Selmy, Rhaegar, Jamie were the best duellers in the realm (shitload of their wins listed in the books) they also trained every day, i would even say more than drogo.
That being said i think its impossible to make ranks, its all just based on personal feelings.

SleepyHead   . Mar 18 2012 15:01. Posts 878

1. Theokolese
2. Gannicus
3. Onemaous

I think that's a clear top three although Gannicus vs. Onemaous is def debatable. Even though Crixus got hurt badly against Cabarus is Gods of the Arena, I think prime Crixus and prime Spartacus would both beat him, so:

4. Crixus
5. Spartacus
6. Cabarus

Fun thread!

its not because of his body, his body comes from a reason, its not like he worked out, he lived in war constantly he has way more experience and is stronger than anybody else

obv it's all speculation and the terms of the fight have a lot to do with it. but heres an argument against: armour and bigass valyrian steel swords are better technology than arakhs and whips. dothraki fight on horseback but we're assuming horses aren't allowed in this scenario. and if it's equal weapons/gear then it depends on the specifics.. jaime lannister would merk drogo in a swordfight and the mountain would have a size/strength edge on drogo if it was unarmed fighting.

lol this is such an incredibly nerdy thread i love it

Would you fight Khal Drogo, Gannicus and Crixus in a cagefight with a pistol and 4 bullets ?

rofl obviously not, not even with a full clip, guys that strong can easily withstand gunshots unless its a .45 or something, and you would never manage to shoot the 3 of them dead before they sprint to you

mmm interesting i was thinking on who was the best figher rather than a concrete question like who would win in a 1v1 with their normal war gear.

Its important what you said about the horse, but i think about Jamie's fight with Stark, it wasnt a one sided rape and Stark was an old ex-warrior, no way Stark (in a realistic setting) could beat Drogo, maybe some of you are basing your information on the books im basing mine only in the TV series and what we have seen so far.
