LiquidPoker's Turbo Takedown freeroll !

We prepared something special for LiquidPoker members! If you follow PokerStars tournaments, you will know that PokerStars Turbo Takedown is one of the biggest monthly tournaments with a buy-in in Frequent Player Points (FPPs) instead of direct cash, and that the tournament has a massive prize pool of $1,000,000 , plus rewards winner additionally with brand new Audi TT sport car. Together with PokerStars, LiquidPoker prepared series of 4 freeroll tournaments for our members, and each of them will award 5 seats into Turbo Takedown.

Turbo Takedown takes place at 15:30 ET ( 19:30 CET ) on last Sunday of every month ( closest one is March 27th 2011 ), and normally you can buy-in for 3,000 FPPs. As always, with so much cash on the table, first 5,000 finishers will be paid. First place finisher will earn $60,000 and a brand new Audi TT. There is also a $100 bounty for every Team PokerStars player participating in the tournament.

If you would like to participate in LiquidPoker Turbo Takedown freerolls and get a ticket to the tournament for free, then here is short info about upcoming qualifiers - our tournaments will take places on following days:

March 5th, 14:00 ET (20:00 CET) - id: 370524448
March 12th, 14:00 ET (20:00 CET)
March 19th, 14:00 ET (19:00 CET)
March 26th, 14:00 ET (19:00 CET)

Alternatively, you can filter tournaments in 'tournament'->'private' tab, using world 'Liquid'.

Registration for those tournaments is completely free, however you will need a password, which will be visible only to registered users of our site that made account at least one week ago! If you registered today, you will be able to enter the tournament next week!


If you meet these criteria, If you don't have an account on our site, register one and you will be able to enter the next freeroll! Password for each tournament will be give approximately 2 days before it takes place.

If you don't have an account on Pokerstars yet and would like to play poker and earn money, you can create one right away. Make sure you use the code "STARS600" to earn a first deposit bonus of 100% up to $600!

Yes, I requested this method for these tournaments as well. Unfortunately with the quantity of these tournaments and the manual labour involved it wasn't doable for pokerstars to use that same method again.

Another option, have the password available 10 minutes before tourney starts.

That will make it harder for people to get the password on time, and no sit outters.

maybe just make it that you have to have 5 posts before some date like 26.02.2011, then there will be no problem, just 5 posts on site week before the LP promotion started

I can already say that we are going to change the password requirements for next tournament, as we dont want those low quality posts all over the site.

As for today's tournament I will be monitoring spammers carefully, and all password request will get people instantly banned, as well as mindless posts just to raise your post count.

I just learned of the TT FPP tourneys after a similar version from my site, FlopTurnRiver. I played theirs, was T9 with 15 left (9 advanced) and I shoved with AQ from the cutoff. AK calls and I'm done. I mean, it never even occured to me to fold. Too short to raise (pot committed), too big a percentage to call, but it never even occured to me to fold. I never even thought of it. Have I mentioned it didn't even cross my mind? How much can I contribute here. Somebody let me know. 'Cause I can drunken ramble with the best of 'em on my Braves' blog. Your account on the forum has to be at least 1 week old, so you can actually spend some time and post something useful during next 7 days, then enter the freeroll next week.

We are going to remove the post restriction completely, since useless posts are not welcome at site at all, and this looks like main problem today. Some other improvements will also be made, no worries

How to release the password, and the requirements for being permitted to obtain it, clearly depend greatly on what your goals were for offering the freerolls.

Was the goal to reward the current membership?
Was the goal to increase contributing membership?
Multiple goals (e.g. both of the above)?
There are enough possibilities as to what the goal(s) are such that it is not reasonable for me to make a list.

Define the goals. Then it is possible to work on determining appropriate ways to have this offering achieve the goal(s).

Are you sure? 75%+ of the registrants are in Russia, Ukraine, Romania, etc. Somehow I doubt LP's membership matches up with that.

Also, you have to be a serious busto to register a new account and spam posts to enter a tournament with an EV of like $1. It looks like 1000 people are going to be in this since the password was leaked so the EV is probably going to be around 20 cents. Kinda sad.

Yeah I've seen the list go from 350>450 entrants in less than 5 minutes. Maybe we do have this many members, or perhaps there's a pattern emerging...o_O

Giving access to the password 10 minutes prior the tournament to players with => 1 month membership should solve this problem rather easily

I was going to offer a solution of having "winners"prove that you have an account on this site, since there are rules in place in order for them to be able to play anyways. They technically shouldn't be able to play [yet alone get rewarded] based on the rules stated. Some simple "Proof of LP.net" membership couldn't be to hard to manifest if they're a legit player o_O

I don't intend to be rude here, but I do think you were being a bit naive to think the password wouldn't be leaked. The only way to prevent this without tickets, is to only allow LPers who have been registered for a month at least and have a certain amount of posts. This will then be a tourney for the LP community and not these mass spammers. I also think as I said earlier, only give out the password before the tournament starts, say 15mins or so, incase any of the spammers have older accounts and try to leak the password.

Well thats why we had the 7 days and posts requirement, but i guess someone from those sites owns a LP account already, changing it to 30 days wont change a thing. Releasing it 15 minutes in advance can result in different problems and a low turn out, cause most LP regulars will forget to check in time and the server might have an issue with 100's checking for the password at the same time.

We rather wouldn't have used the pw protection method and of course I expected not-LP 'ers in this tournament. What I did not expect is that it would result in 4000 Russians joining the tournament.

My idea is next time you release the password you do it like 15-30 minutes before the tourney so It's harder for so many people to register if the password gets out. This tourney should be for people who are actually regular contributors to the site, not some random retards begging for passwords and 5 posts to get them. The week delay thing won't do shit cause they'll just post some crap, come back for the next 3 tourneys, and then never be a part of the community again.
