Edit: if you are choosing not to raise it preflop you should just be calling for set value.

These spots suck ass. Generally, when i have no idea where i stand, i will just fold. Villain was out of the blinds so trips is certainly possible, the raise reeks of it. Obviously a tough fold when 77-TT is playing it that way too, but, not losing pots is much more important than chipping up, and your beat here a high % of the time. You can find a better spot. Dont feel like a nit for making folds here.

As for preflop, i like the limp. Position is what sways my decision here. If on the button a raise would be better imo
