So the DOJ screwed up a lot of peoples shit. So no surprise but i am at a loss of what to do. I am in a tough situation right now. I'm also sure other people have had to make similar choices. I am somewhat forced to leave the country in order to make what I consider acceptable money for my future. But my girlfriend cannot leave the country because she is trying to finish college. She has a year left but a year of downtime in this rapidly changing game. Is an eternity. not to mention the opportunity cost for that time wasted. Unfortunately the only scenario that makes sense because of VPNs being no good is for me to get a place somewhere and grind. And then come visit AZ frequently. If anyone knows of any other work arounds that would be helpful but the plan i am debating with right now is to roomy-up with someone in canada and just grind a ton of poker, and then come visit for 1 week out of the month.
Any input would be appreciated. whether its about logistics of moving to canada, other ideas for my situation, offers to live with one of you. Ect ect ^_^ plz help a brotha out.

tough situation. I want to help, honestly, but I don't feel I know you well enough. Personally, I don't think I could leave my gf. I just got out of a LDR, we met in college but she moved 8 hrs away to pursue her softball career, I stayed to pursue my baseball career. It was tough, we lasted about a year, but damn man. I couldn't do it anymore. |

Tough call to make, I agree 1 year of inactivity online is lost opportunity plus devastating to your confidence once you go back so the money value lost is exponential, on the other hand I don't think your girlfriend will think highly of you if she sees you just drift for a year without any sort of plan which will also affect your confidence/dealings with her and can result in straining your relationship too. I'd suggest you ask a Canadian Lper if you can live somewhere nearby instead of living where they live since going out there by yourself may seem easy but it's going to suck big time with basic stuff and no friends or anyone to ask for pointers. |

Again, I don't know the full situation, but I've decided on this as my advice:
Money is money. Money will always come and go. Love will not. If you love this girl, putting off poker for a year and figuring out what to do with her by your side once she has finished college will be a MUCH bigger accomplishment then anything you could go playing poker. Now is the time to try something new.
If you need anything else please don't hesitate to send me a PM |

me and my gf have already discussed having a LTR with regaurds to this situation. We on her moving out to canada with me once she is able to, and assuming poker isnt back in action in the US. We're prepared to do what we have to do as far as keeping our relationship together, but we both understand the situation pretty well and agree it might be for the best. Also i would like to live WITH someone out there if possible not by myself. First because i dont want to get a place for myself as thats gonna be a big fail moving somewhere and not having any friends or any sort of outlet. Also it could be very beneficial to live with smoeone who is pretty good and/or a sick grinder. For motivational purposes.
Money is money. but if our relationship can take the stress which we both think it can and are willing to bet on it. its worth it, especially since to play poker for 4 years and not go to college. Has left me in a position where for the forseeable future its most optimal for me to make as much as possible and invest in my future. Or else this time spent would be a waste. To stop when im at my maximum earn potential makes learning everything I have and dedicating myself to this a waste of time. Thus seems logical to pursue it. Also I'd likely just spent 1 out of of every 4 weeks in AZ anyway, so that should easy it a little. not to mention her coming to visit sometimes too. |

Well if its only for a year at most.
The law might change in a couple of months and allow you to play again.
but yeh, the only alternative is to commute between canada and US.
or you could buy a boat and sail into international waters to play poker |

would you rather be
broke and in a relationship
or
rich and single
depends on what you value more. if u make the choice to stay, hindering ur income, broke and in a relationship is the best that will happen. if you make the move, rich and single is the worst that could happen, and it probably won't (the single part)

are you winning at live? if yes, then prob don't move
i think relocating is only good for SNEs that were already on/above pace, or 5/10+ regs that play on every site available to them.
games aren't as soft as people said post black friday imo, though ive only been grinding for 4 days, my opinion may change.

i 100% agree. btw im not asking what ur guys thoughts are on moving in my situation. my situation is kind of relevent but me and my GF are prepared for the worst case which would be LTR. I'm confident we'd get through it. but as far as love or money arguement. Well if i stay im gonna be pretty screwed imo as far as my headstart in life goes. And if i go likely nothing would change. Also theres always the chance of my relationship not working out anyway which i am 100% life busto if i stay in that case. Though obviously im counting on it working out because were pretty sure of our relationship.
so though i do have some choices. imo leaving the country and taking this to LTR on some level. is not really a choice for my well being. Its not a greed thing. its a survival and not shooting my life in the foot thing.
Also exilerate. i plan on doing SNE next year, and in order to do that i have to put in hours this year both for staying on par with the games, and not getting rusty at multitabling. Also because hourly would still be higher playing online than it would be playing at 5/10 at the local casino (by double atleast). |
