Well wtf |
 |

I am playing WAY tighter than I ever have and my redline is losing at exactly the same rate. I am rarely 2brl/folding and such, which I was doing too much of before, I'm opening far stronger hands on average, etcetc. Man what is going on. At least I am only down 1 buyin over these last 14k hands, but I am like 5bi above EV.
Well I'm going to keep chugging at it but damn it man.. why can't I change this
17/15/3 over this sample LOL. Sickest nitorama. Maybe I will 3bet from the button more often.. Wonder what sort of hands I should start doing that with since my image according to my stats should be pretty damn tight. If I start 3betting TT/JJ as a normal thing (vs non sick nits ofc) from the button, I feel like I am overrepping my hand vs my stats and will get myself into trouble?

No, 3bet a balance of strong and weaker hands on button. I 3bet hands like 78s, low PPs from button, and obv the premium hands. It all depends on activity of the raisers you are 3betting. You do not want to start 3betting someone with 78s when he has stats of 8/8. Vs these guys, you would call with 78s hands on button looking to outflop their overpair. etc.
Could be just small sample, but also could be that your missing value on good hands at river in small pots. |

yeah it definitely depends on who the PFR is, guess I gotta wing it as I go along w that
I'm definitely vbetting much more aggressively than I was before |

3betting Ax is much better than 3betting suited connectors, at least for me. 3betting Axs is a big love of mine. |

Jeha 3 betting stuff like AT A9 A8 is so cool since whenever u get called u are dominated (AJ+ TT+) + we dont get much value of JJ-QQ in case we flop our A
>_<
the good thing about 3 betting SC is that u get paid of soo much when u hit big.
AA,KK,QQ wont ever fold on NL25 undercard flops
AK and AQ will almost always stack off when they hit an A,K or Q TP |
|
U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz) | |

Yo mang I done told you to loosen up nah! 3bettin the btn b/c it's the btn is only going to work vs passive regfish who think they're good when they're not. Just start raising all sorts of quirky hands, unsuited connectors from UTG and MP, suited aces, lots of iso raising with queen rag and king rag. |

it's mainly for card removal, not just narrowing their preflop calling range but also making it less likely for them to hit flops + we have an A and will somtimes outflop hands like KK.
You don't have to stack off every time you have tp in a 3bet pot you know. With SC you'll often flop decent equity but rarely big, + hitting big doesn't guarantee you gettin paid.
I much rather play small pots with suited connectors since they have great implied odds. |

yo night. I wish I could help you. My opinion is that it seems like (from your blog posts) you may be deconstructing technically too far and focusing on getting good stats and frequencies. I'm very much a loose feel player so this may be just my personal angle, but my advice is always this: 4 table and play loose and watch everyone. Keep your eyes open for any tendencies, and there are big ones, such as seeing someone pot control the turn in position but betting all their floats etc. Every time you see a tendency think about how it would be best exploited and do so. By being loose I always feel that I am the instigator of everyone's reactions and play and can control it to my will. When you have identified many tendencies you will see relations between them and groupings, so you can make reasonable assumptions that someone who does x will do y. Then when you have built up this pool of opponent style knowledge you can pre-empt patterns. It's more fun this way anyway.
I think stats are really not that important. For example, sometimes I redline the holy fuck out of people when it's a regfest at the tables, but when it's all fish my redline dies as I open a million tables and value town them. My overall stats will then just be an average of these two (or more) different situations, so don't have much if any importance. Just play other people not HEM at poker.
I find it hard to believe that it is possible to crush humans nearly as hard with good stats and frequencies and shit than it is by reading them each hand. Also, by needing to find a logical way to correctly implement your reads each time, you far more deepen your understanding of strategy. I'm not even a poker player anymore (my bar opened 3 days ago!), and I may be talking way above my understanding, but I simply cannot comprehend building/rebuilding your game through improved technicalities.
I'm rambling, it's been a very long day... but good luck!
edit: a corollary of the first point is that when you spot weaknesses and tendencies not only can you exploit them but much more importantly you can lead the player by the hand into situations in which that tendency will be exhibited! |

I don't think you should think straight forward, I mean like. "I should 3-Bet more"
Poker is so much about dynamic, what I mean is. Vs someone bad, you should only 3-Bet only for value, and don't 3b any suited cards low cards, or garbage hands. Should be just for value.
Versus tight/nits etc, you should 3b for value with ur strongest range QQ+, and you shouldn't 3b hands that have medium value like KJo, AJo etc, because those hands might as well be air, because they ain't strong enough to call a 4b or shove. So versus those you polarize your range, to either monsters or air.
This is the trick I think, when they are in late position, they widen up their range a lot, and they know they're tight, or a nit, so 3b them with crap then is fine I think, when they earlier position, you generally won't get any fold with a garbage hand.
The reason for like, calling a MP nit on the button with a medium range is, you retain the worst of his range, and play vs that, so you're facing their KQ, KJ, 77+ if you 3b, you'll get a fold or a 4b vs anyone good. And if a Nit calls your 3b, you're behind his range almost always with a hand like KJ, best you can hope for is a medium/high pocket pair
Hmmm don't feel like I explained myself too well, oh well, tired <3 |

thanks for the good posts
On the straight forward thinking sort of thing.. I mean I am going to start looking for these spots and trying to re-implement some proper preflop aggression where appropriate. I basically have gone total nit trying to stop the sick loss rate that I've sustained for 2+ months now. It seems to of sorta worked, so I'm going to try opening my game back up a little hehe.
Anyway, I'm going to reread these posts now |
