Now that I am playing poker again, Ive found all my all poker friends at much different stakes. I'm looking for some people who want to send hands to eachother and talk strategy.

I'm also going to start learning PLO. Seems like a really fun and great game that many of my NLHE will transfer over to. I'm going to start low, 25PLO, until I get better. I already know a lot about the starting hands and how 9987 is worse than 9877 for example.

Anyway, hit me up in the comments or in a PM if you play NL50-100 or PLO. I mostly use AIM but I can also get on MSN if that is more convienient for anyone.

Good Luck.

When you flop a set w/ 9987 you are less likely to have the nut straight draw compared to 9877 and you also have blockers to lower sets, instead of blockers to higher sets.

I'm very certain 9877 > 9987. 9987 wins hu against 9877 but for the reasons I said earlier 9877 flops much better and is much more playable post-flop.

9987 > 9877 according to ProPokerTools hand percentile calculator, but I have no idea how accurate the tool is.

"When you flop a set w/ 9987 you are less likely to have the nut straight draw compared to 9877"
This is only true if we're comparing 9987 and 7655, right?

Idk. actually I'm really tired and don't feel like thinking at all.

Its hard to make a easy buck legally, its impossible to make a easy buck morally.

ProPokerTools is only considering all in equity. It isn't considering other important factors, like playability.

w/ 9877 a flop of

76x gives you a (sometimes top) set + nut OESD
75x gives you a (sometimes top) set + gutshot to the nuts
7Tx gives you a set + nut OESD
7Jx gives you a set + nut gutshot

All straight draws to the nuts 2 OESDs and 2 gutshots.

w/ 9987

95x gives you a (sometimes top) set + gutshot to the nuts
96x gives you a (sometimes top) set + OSED to the nuts
9Tx gives you a set + OESD 1 to nuts 1 to 2nd nuts.
9Jx gives you a set + gutshot to the nuts

2 gutshots to the nuts 1 1/2 OESD to the nuts and 1/2 OESD to the 2nd nuts.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

9877 makes a good argument that it is better than 9987. But it's important to note that all hands with the same structure aren't the same in ranking.

For example, KKQJ is way superior than KQJJ. Same thing with QQJT being more superior than QJTT. Main reason is KKxx/QQxx can be good at showdowns a good amount.
