So school is out, and I am actually a bit disappointed. I did manage to finish this semester with a 3.6, and the year with a 3.5, which I am obviously somewhat happy about, but not entirely. I really think I could have done better, but not much I can do about it now. Along with my current Bachelors/Masters Biotech program, I am looking into possibly minoring in Psychology. I find Psych very intriguing and would love to really learn more about it as I find people to be pretty fascinating. Not sure if i'll be able to handle the workload, but its worth a shot I suppose.
I am living here in Kent for the summer, and its pretty boring so far. I am living in the fraternity house, but there really isnt all that much to do since a lot of the guys went home. The girl I was talking to is still here, and I have no idea whats up with that. Theres still some drama with her ex so I sort of cut things off between us, but am still hopeful we end up dating once she sorts that all out and gets over him. Only time will tell, until then i'll keep doing my thing.
I am going to be working as much as possible for my dad which I am not thrilled about. Its good money(~25/hr), but its hard work, and my dad and I dont exactly have the best relationship. I figure I need to make ~5k to pay my tuition/rent for next year, in order for me to not dip into the bankroll. I think I should be able to do that so long as my dad has enough work for me.
Aside from work I will be playing as much poker as I can. Like I said before, I cashed out all but 1k to pay off the rest of my expenses for the school year. I am currently grinding a mix of 25 and 50NL and it blows. I never really thought id be in the position I am in now, but I guess thats what happens when you pay your own bills, and don't play enough poker. I am hoping to be back at ~200NL or at about $10,000 by summers end. If I can put in about 50k hands a month, I think its a reasonable goal. If I can pay off all of next years expenses working for my dad this summer, I think the reduced stress will greatly help my profitability in poker as well as my school performance.
I have noticed the games as a whole have gotten drastically more difficult. Not saying 25 or 50NL is hard, but its certainly a ton harder than it was a year ago, and especially 2-3 years ago. Its gonna take a good amount of work/adjusting to become a decent winner at the mid stakes again. Its also gonna require a much more padded bankroll. I must say I am very impressed with a lot of the lp'rs lately. A lot of you guys' games have improved so much, its pretty awesome to see all of this recent success.
Since I am tight on money now, I obviously wont be making it to the world series this summer. I am hoping to make a few trips with my grandmother to Atlantic City, but that will be about it as far as gambling goes. I may be heading to Texas at the end of the month for my sister's high school graduation. That would be a much needed vacation so hopefully that works out. Other than that the only other traveling I will be doing is for gaelic football. I'll be heading to Montreal in a week or so for a tournament there. Then we have a few trips to Detroit, Pittsburgh, one to New York, one in Dublin, Ohio for the Dublin Irish Festival, and finishing it all off in Boston for nationals sometime in August/September.
Thats all for now, good luck at the tables
Pat
