This is from an actual hand played while coaching a student (not going to mention names) last night. So for practice, create a range of hands for our opponent on the turn, and then come up with the best lines you believe that should be played on the turn, and a river, if there is one.

About our opponent: Opponent is a bit on the loose side. Capable of making moves, but fairly reasonable post flop. Not overly aggressive, or passive. That's all we have for a read at this point.

I can't convert the hand because I was only observing unfortunately.

I'd say bet / fold

Opp range imo:
Q
Flush draw
Pocket pair (probably lower than use, but possibly TT/JJ or a slowplayed QQ-AA)

Not much we're beating, but we could fold out better, like bigger PP and weak Q's. So I'd bet like 2/3 of the pot and fold to a raise, check/fold the river vs a call.

impossible to put any kind of accurate range here, we have no info yet.......
he could have anything from 22 to 88, clubs, and some A high type of hand floating on a paired board....

meh...

check/call (to give him room to bluff the flush)
then block bet river?

nah i prefer bet/folding since he could have any club + 6 overcard outs

is check calling on turn wrong? and then check on the river and see what he does, isnt a smaller pocket his most likely hand and if you check he would fire a half pot bet on the turn and then check river. I think we can assume a 9 is coming on the river anyway so u will win.
I am an optimist/donk so i just assume he hasnt got the queen or 22.

So here's some of the hand ranges I would place on him here.
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 56.605% 56.11% 00.50% 1975 17.50 { 9c9d }
Hand 1: 43.395% 42.90% 00.50% 1510 17.50 { TT-22, AcJc, KQs, QTs+, AcJd, AcJh, AcJs, AdJc, AhJc, AsJc, KQo, QTo+, 98o }
We gain more by check/calling in this spot than by betting. I hope everyone understand that. In this hand, the student wanted to check/fold the turn, and we got into a discussion about how this is giving up a +EV situation. We also discussed why betting is not as profitable. Sometimes villain will have the flush here, sometimes they'll have the Q of course too, or maybe even TT. Against that complete range however, and adding in the fact there is more chance they will bluff the turn, then it's slightly more profitable to check/call out of position here.

If they fire the river too, then we'll have a difficult decision. Firing a blocking bet here, wouldn't have been that bad, and we considered it, but decided to check the river.
