I can't beat NL2

Well, I think I can. But I didn't today. I'm a little under break-even for 1,000 hands. I started off down two buyins in the first 80 hands losing all-in with trip 8s on the turn vs a moron slow-playing AA when he hit an A on the river, then four hands later on another table I lost to AA again in a set over set.

My bankroll started at $50ish, from cashing two freerolls and selling 3m play chips to JohnnyBologna. After losing almost 1/5 of my roll in the first hundred hands, I decided playing full-stacked was a bad plan. I've since been buying in for $2, since that's 100BBs at these stakes anyway. 800 hands and several smaller coolers later, I'm back at $50.

Here are a couple of hands:
Losing my first two KK:

Villain was an overaggro fool who was raising about 1/3 of his hands preflop, and I checked the turn intending to shove, since I had check/folded to a couple of big turn bets of his after he called my cbets. This is the second time he stacked me by making a straight with trash.

Biggest winning pot.

I feel like today's session was rough because I ran bad in a few big hands, but I did win back the $10. I'm sure I'm making lots of mistakes, but I've been reading LP for a few months and feel relatively confident. It's tough because I don't know anyone who plays poker so I don't really have anyone to talk to, but I hope to succeed like KwarK and the other NL2ers here and move up as I get better.

first hand don't see why you called that shove, could've been ez flush, I don't see much bluffing or people folding to bluffs at our stakes, and Q7 was lol.
breakeven isn't bad for starting out, you're making decent bets and playing pretty standard from what I see
don't be in a hurry to win, just focus on your performance and winnings will naturally follow

Yeah, I could have found a fold to that shove. He was playing quite overaggro and I didn't believe he had the flush. Turns out he had the straight .

Also, I have actually seen bluffs from players at NL2. It seems like there are two kinds of players in general: nitty players who will only bet or call bets if they have something (though a few of these guys do cbet), and aggro guys who like raising and do bluff. That table was quite an aggro one, with BROKENTRAIN and DarthRyRy both raising liberally (DarthRyRy was the bluffer in my KJ hand).

Keep at it. I started with 100, lost all but one dollar fifty five cents and then worked out poker and am now destroying nl2.

you want to know how to win? open shove any TPTK/set/AA KK QQ AK preflop and you'll be at nl10 in no time

You shouldn't play shortstacked in my opinion. Shortstacked is basically damage limitation, if you're a losing poker player, you'll lose less. If you're a winning one, you'll win less. And when it comes down to it you want to be a winning poker player or not playing poker.
However, that being said, if you're a losing player looking to improve it is justifiable simply because you need to play a lot of hands to improve and you can't do that when bust.
Also I'm not really a success story given I've only just started and I'm making sub illegal immigrant wages from it, all of which I'm ploughing back into building up a bankroll. But if you pm me your msn I'll happily give my (extremely donkish) opinion on hands.
