So I figured that I should analyze why I've lost 10 bi the last week or so. After checking out my big losers in PT I've figured out that about 3/4 or something are acceptable loses like coolers and a lot of missed draws but there's also quite a few overvalued top pairs, overpairs and such that I shouldn't lose that much with. That's probably a big leak that I should fix. I read a post called"Analysis of a downswing" by BalugaWhale on 2+2 and he stated that:
"As in any downswing, I got sucked out on for my stack more than a couple times. Sometimes, I got sucked out on more than once in a session. Now, I prided myself on keeping composure and not tilting. I never did things like pushing All-In preflop with garbage, or calling raises with trash hands.
I think this might be key to this downswing. Also, I might have to stop bluffing because people are calling me down with everything.
Also, does anyone else have any theories on what one might do wrong during downswings? Like common tendencies and such?

Hey mate - i went from 875 to 650 on stars yesterday and all within the space of 1 hour (given i was 7 tabling). It was really really sick - thankfully i am quite sure that all the losses were coolers (set vs set), KK vs AA, and twice a fish called pot sized bets to the river with a flush draw and hit on the river.
I am quite over-rolled (60x50NL) so i can handle losing a few buyins - though i think it did effect me...
1. Gave ppl less credit for hands pre when they 3-bet - lost 2 stacks yest and today stacking off pre with QQ after being 3 bet.
2. Call draws more often without pot odds, especially crazy shit like inside str8 draws - i think this is because i lost lots to donkeys calling their stacks to hit their flush....
3. weak-tight poker, raise pre, get called. I have a big overpair on the flop but the flop is 2 to a flush. I 3/4 pot it. I get called. Turn is harmless. I check behind. River is harmless - i check behind. WTF?!?!
4. Some ppl play looser, some ppl tighter. I think i play about the same - but I don't cont bet as often and basically don't play my natural free flowing and CONFIDENT game.
Downswings cause bigger downswings. First thing to do is take a few deep breathes - take a day off or at least a few hours do something new. Then come back and play either 1 level down or only 2 tables or something. When you start feeling like you have your mojo back - then you can get back to your normal limit/tables.

Sometimes it's just situations where you have serious leaks coming up at a higher than normal frequency :o. Like bad play with overpairs, my last downswing was exactly that - 4-5 situations in a row where I have a big overpair, opponents hit and I pay off when I could avoid it. I don't avoid it often enough on a good day too, but when it rarely happens you don't notice it. |

Honestly, the worst habit I have is I get really stubborn. I still play pretty much the way I normally do, but maybe open my variance plays up a little more. But besides that, the main bad thing I do when stubborn is I get really really bad juju (as my gf calls it - juju meaning cynical like "oh of course your going to catch that two outter u f*n dumbass etc) and then naturally, I do get sucked out on more - might sound stupid but I swear keeping a nonnegative attitude is so key (and sometimes really hard)
also, the same thing as what PplusAD said, except with AQ for me |

oh, and I forgot, once I'm stubbornly aggravated to a real good extent, I've found I do make a few more rvr calls than normal (which coincides with my I do get sucked out on more thinking |

I've been playing like 2.5k hands and I'm down like 250 today. That sucks. I'm getting hold of the situation though. |
