"Luck is probability taken personally"

So I read that somewhere and stole it to put as my MSN-quote. Dunno where I read it, but it might’ve been in some sign on this forum or 2+2 or something. Whatever, it’s a really nice quote and I think that there’s a lot to learn from it. I was really upset in the beginning of the session because I keept losing to bad beats vs shortstacks, like AJ vs A3 allin on a J73 board for 50 bb or so and he gets a 3 on the turn. I did however continue to play and suddenly I started to hit some hands and now I’m up like 2 BIs for the day. The funniest hand by far was when I raised TJs from the CO or the position before CO, can’t remember, and some dude reraises me to 9 (ie; 5 to call for me) and we’re both 150bb or so deep. I call and knows that he pretty much have AA-QQ or AK here 95% of the time. As I said, I hate minreraises. The flop comes something like JT and a rag rainbow and I check/raised him kinda strongly since I didn’t want some evil scarecard to come off. He reraised me again and I thought that he might have JJ or TT, but since I’ve got JT that’s unlikely and I put him allin. He called and showed AA and my two pairs held up. The he said this;

I love it when I take money from people who plays really stupid. Much better then sucking out or winning coinflips.

Would be an interesting moral dilemma to actually start thinking what one very successful poker player causes to some people. Even though people with gambling problems have the problem as their own, it's the good players that kinda abuse this. Not possible in many professions ;D Some people just deserve to go broke, purely on evolutionary basis (they're more unlikely to have kids etc).

In Lucky Number Slevin Ben Kingsley talks about how "luck" is an abstract and relative concept and that some people are unlucky so that others may know that they are lucky and that one person is unlucky one day only relative to his luck the day before. I don't believe in luck as a predetermined factor in someone's life. I think someone's luck can only be determined at the end of their life as a result of all their experiences.

In regards to what Muhweli said, theres something in Rounders about how its "a crime to let a fish keep their money" or something . I always liked that.

I find it really nice to abuse retards. Normally they drive me crazy but now I can finally take their monies. I could feel sorry for some gambling addict, but unless he tries to quit I don't really mind to take his monies. Also, when people get angry and act like morons I feel that should try to shut them up. I guess the thing is that I don't feel any responsibility for people I don't know. I only look out for individuals I like. But then again, I like most people I get to know. Also, I gotta see Rounders.
