Here's the problem:

You're drawing a pythagorean triangle for a group of aliens who just landed in your back yard to demonstrate human cognitive capability. Using only whole numbers, what's the smallest number you can put on each side of the triangle to fulfill a^2+b^2=c^2 ?

how have you heard of the pythagorean theorem but never heard of a 3-4-5 triangle?

345 is very well know in masonry, because the ratio is always the same. all people working in construction used to know this ratio by hearth, because it always work with this ratio

for example 6-8-10 is a Pythagorean triangle as well, as is 9-12-15 and so on.

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

I hope for posterity sake that the teacher you had at age 11 found a new line of work.

This is not an insult to you, but really this should be ingrained in your head, and it was a failure of the school system for something so simple to slip through the cracks. But if you enjoyed this, I recommend checking out some basic number theory books and explore the limits of what you can learn.

Daut, I never really paid much attention to any of my teachers, school was entirely too easy and I could have passed any test laid out in front of me from any class i ever took before I ever took it.

I don't think there's a reason to blame any of my teachers for something I was certainly not interested in hearing. It's not that I didn't enjoy learning it was just that 98% of the time when my teacher was talking I didn't gain anything from hearing it. I was literally doing my brother's gf's homework who was a senior when I was in the 4th grade. My school wasn't exactly hard, I don't imagine growing up in the midwest in a town of farmers and simple ppl was the ideal place to go to school.

Also this problem is way too easy when the numbers are small like 3 4 and 5.

It was quite challenging when i skipped over those and found 12 13 5 and assumed that was the smallest set of numbers.

Number theory was probably my favorite undergrad class.

Its time to stop thinking like a bitch and think smart like a poker player - ket
