1)i don't understand why a session always starts losing and ends winning? just wondering

2)do you remember the thing about team colors in online games? the study that said there was a statistically significant advantage to being on a red team rather than a blue team and then postulated some kind of psychology behind red being more scary/testosterone/whatever?

what about the same but with digits. for instance in magic you can easily force the number 7 out of people.

now do you think there could be something like that applied to bet sizing? like $48 is lower than $50 but if $48 sounds scarier could that bet have more fold equity? or maybe not the specific digits but some other property of the number like a number with high multiplicity looking stronger than a prime number. or does this just sound fucking retarded

or rather than the bet size, the size of the visual chip stack? so if you bet $100 but it's one chip it's less intimidating than a whole bunch of chips. is this why dwan always bets a random number like $14,350 in live games and gets folds from people who think they have a huge decision? whereas tony g snap overbets the pot like $50k with two chips and gets called with the nuts. i am not saying it is a big edge or that i could explain the mechanism i just wonder if anyone else thinks something like this could be at work even though we have no data/evidence

3)wtf do you people listen to? i tried classical music because it's a hobby of mine and there's so much of it and super long tracks. but it turned out to be a bad distraction because of emotional involvement in the music and whatever it just wasn't working. i find talk radio and some comedy is really soothing actually. something like charlie rose interviews where there's such a huge library of content and it's all the same kind of calming tone and volume, doesn't get you worked up. anyway i will look at the podcast thread maybe

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

I've definitely considered the size of the visual chip stack being a factor in fold equity when bluffing or value betting. No difinitive evidence yet...

1. you might just be unfocused or something when you start your sessions. that or your default game has leaks, but you adjust better than your competition to recent history as the session goes on. or some combination.

2. it's an idea that's been brought up pretty regularly in online poker for the last 10 years. that said i have no idea what impact it has. to be honest i think most people who bet 166.66 or whatever just do it to be a special snowflake, at least that's why i did it. who knows, maybe it has some effect, but it's probably less likely to matter now than it was x years ago.

3. generally i think no music is best if i really want to concentrate on something that requires my full attention. sometimes classical can be good if my head's just not in the right place and i need to get myself centered, but i'll usually turn it off pretty quickly.

listening to music while doing something else is only helpful if you have adhd or something along those lines. your body needs the extra stimulation to be able to focus, which is counter intuitive.

I always felt value bet sizes should be approached from a marketing standpoint, i.e. $49 looks a lot less than $50.

bye now

I'm pretty much the exact opposite, I lose hunger to win fairly quickly into a session but can play really good in the first hour or so. Can also play good again if I run bad, feel tilted and work through it.

you know i thought about this i mean everyone has leaks i'm sure but i think you're right although i'm adjustable i.e. bruce lee water bs etc. so i think the bigger more abstract problem is forgetting how to play and having to remember by spewing reminding me which seems bad

1. You're good capitalizing your early loses or you focus more when you start loosing maybe
2. I feel more pressure when someone bets me very close to pot size bet
3. I dont listen anything while playing more than the music in my head and up to one real person talking to me

ADZ124: why do people put pictures of their child in stars.. its like please help feed my child im a fish i cant play?
