So here is my first almost 20k hands, all of 'em played in Zoom Poker @2NL. Been running pretty good, but made some mistakes which are obvious even to novice eyes like mine and which I want to correct asap. Basically I've been playing super-duper tight and I've reevaluated my poker standards, the way I look at any pair preflop or at draws. It's been a good couple of weeks of learning, however I have some questions:

- from the moment I started playing super ABC poker my non-showdown winnings started going down. Why is this so? The main reason I can think of is that I play almost any pair (Nazgul advice for microstakes) with a preflop raise of a maximum of 3-4BB or I push the action if no one raises. However if I dont hit my set I fold and get the fuck out. This is like the only one thing I can think of. Is this even a problem? (I reckon it is, cause I'm losing money after all, ain't I?)

- how much should be my #BB/100 hands in order to feel ready to move limits? My BR ain't there yet, but slowly it's getting there

- i fear that playing this tight is creating automatisms that will keep me back if i manage to climb some blind levels. For example if there's a 4-5BB+ from EP I dont even consider playing AJ and AQ only if suited, unless I have notes about that guy. Any advice on this will help me a lot.

- I almost never try to steal blinds. Iunno, many articles tells me to do it, but i just dont feel its profitable and i almost completely stopped doing it. It seems like a bad idea when there are many calling stations who are ready to defend their blinds with basically any 2 cards and then its just a coinflip.

Results

LE: LOL, epic night till now xD I've ran into AA or KK with QQ/KK at least 5 times and I lost 3 times with AA vs KK/QQ.
LE2: JJ can't hold vs 10 10, its getting funny.

make sure you learn basic odds, many ppl dont realize how little they have to fold to make a bluff profitable

2 possible reasons spring to mind. 1, you are taking more made/winning hands to showdown than before (good, 3 streets of value etc) and hence your hands that end before showdown are your folds.
2, you are folding your marginal hands in the interests of ABC. In my experience playing NL2, you can have top pair good kicker on a 3flush flop and get raised by someone with bottom pair. suddenly your TPGK doesnt look that hot anymore and maybe you fold. people are crazy
dont worry about your nonshowdown, focus on making your showdown winnings as large as possible

with my low pocket pairs I try to see a flop as cheaply as possible, even if it means limping. I dont mind if 4 other people come along for the ride because when i do hit trips there more chance at least one of them will be calling a big bet. better implied odds too. and like you said, if you dont hit, get the hell out.

not sure on #BB/100. a good method I've found is to gradually move limits. If you play 4 tables normally, open 3 tables of NL2 and 1 table of NL4, and really concentrate on the NL4 table. Hell, maybe just play 1 table of NL4 and see how you feel.

For example if there's a 4-5BB+ from EP I dont even consider playing AJ and AQ only if suited, unless I have notes about that guy.
That does sound too tight. A lot of people have no idea about position at NL2 or even if they do, they aren't disciplined enough. Dont forget that you'll have position on the raiser post flop.

- I almost never try to steal blinds.
Yes the Micros are full of stations that will defend with any two. you can still take advantage of this. when you have a good hand on the button, raise a little more PF and watch as the fish commit more money. Something else i've found useful, rightclick on players and use find player. if someone is playing one table they are much more likely to defend blinds (and play more hands in general, boredom factor) whereas if they are 12 tabling they give up blinds fairly easily.

DISCLAIMER: I am also a micro player so listen to the better players on here over me, im jjust passing on what i've found works

Well I've got epic coolers tonight which cut my enthusiasm back a bit. Like the one's described above plus another couple overpair vs 1-2 outers, lost around 600 bb's..

Start buying in full, why are you sitting 50bb deep in a NL2 full ring game?

My favourite line is Bet/Fold. I bet, you fold.

I still have a small BR, deposited only like 10 Euros and trying to work up my way from there.

Cut down on the tables then, you limit yourself by shortstacking. For example you get way worse implied odds for the most common thing you need that for: hitting sets in single raised / limped pots.

My favourite line is Bet/Fold. I bet, you fold.

Like everything, this is relative as well. I thought/think that I play it well at my level cause i was up at the moment of posting by 1000 BB's after 18k'ish hands.

Those coolers have nothing to do with you winniner or losing, since those are not even close to important. We all have nights where we lose AA vs double AK's all in pre. We lose with top set vs runner runner, and KK run into AA every time, that doesn't matter. And shouldn't have anything to do with you winning or losing over the long run.

What makes you win is how much you steal blinds, how well you hand read, and valuebet the fuck out of them with your 2nd pair when they have draw. When you check to induce, snap it off. When you make awesome valuebets on the river. Where you get value where others don't. When you're beat, and you fold, instead of calling.

xD

And the reason your red line is so low is mainly, since most ppl there call so much, we need to give up, fold more. It will go up when you c-bet more, when you bluff rivers more, check/raise more etc. But that stuff is kinda often a bad idea on lowstakes, since they play more a bingo kind of game (oh i hit something on the board, yay), and they ain't folding.

This is so true not even funny. Didn't want to be rude, but there's no way in hell napoleono is playing even remotely close to ABC solid xD

Cause there is no such thing as solid ABC poker ...
3-4 years ago solid abc poker was

Stealing blinds from LP and CO like hell
3 betting ip pf vs nits
c betting a ton in HU pots
just valuebetting your madehands postflop on turn and river
never bluffing
and folding when someone played back at you

Nowadays with all the videos out if u play like this the only winner will be the rake

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)
