So I played the $5,000 NLHE 6-max tournament today and was really pumped since it was the first event I played in over a week (being gone to Mexico / back to Bay Area for the past few days). I land at a fairly unknown table and quickly realize that I struck gold with my table draw. There was a retard playing every single pot and staring people down like he was da man. There was an old guy who was limping a ton and minraising a lot, and doing very random bluffs with small sized bets. Joe Beevers from The Hendon Mob was at my table (more on this epic failure in a bit). The only somewhat competent player at my starting table was a european kid to my right who seemed to be fairly solid / aggro.
So I chip up to 16k pretty easily, mostly from value towning the retard who was playing every single pot. Then I pick up KK UTG, and I swear I haven't done this play in the longest freaking time because its sooo transparent, but at this table I felt like I could pull it off. I limped in from UTG, the kid playing every single pot makes it 400 to go (with 5k behind), Joe Beevers flat calls (with 5k behind), small blind calls. When action got back around to me I obv bomb'd it to 2,000. I get called in 3 places!?!?!?! Is this really the $5k 6-max event? R U SRS? So the flop comes down Tc-9d-7c, and I put both the retard & Joe Beevers all-in for their remaining 4k. The retard tanks for a little bit then calls with A9o. Joe Beevers insta-ships it in with 9c8c, and obv binks his suck out on the turn. Uggg, whatever shit happens, that knocks me back to 11k. Then Joe Beevers says something dumb like "I only called because that guy called." to which point my head almost assploded caz the retard didn't realize he just called off 1/3 of his fucking stack preflop with 98!?! But obv I keep my mouth shut. God live pros are so dumb sometimes
I come back from break and play an interesting hand vs the competent aggro guy to my right, where we both flopped top pair in a blind vs blind situation but he had me out kicked, (my QJ vs his KQ on a Q-8-3 board) and took me to value town when the board ran out really weird. That put me down to 7k, I proceeded to chip back up to 10k before losing yet another pot to the exact same guy when he raised my blind with 98, I defended with Q8. The flop came Q-T-5 and he checked, and I decided to check behind. Turn came a J, he fired 1/2 pot I called. River came a 4 he fired 3/4 pot and I snap called only to see him have the winner again. It was really frustrating. That knocks me back down to 6k. I dropped all the way down to 3100 before doubling up with A3 vs KQ. I get back up to 7k at 200/400 level, then I flop top pair in yet another blind vs blind situation and check-shove right into two pair, so GG my tournament.
Tomorrow is the $2k NLHE, so I'm going to practice my guitar then sleep early for it. This entire series is getting pretty frustrating. Tomorrow = Serious Business.
I feel asleep during the day today so obv couldnt sleep when I was supposed to. What to do what to do? Obv I load up a couple of HU tables and get a grind going. Doing ok but this guy sits down and slowly just owns my soul.
I got completely fucking stomped, he ran very good and made some pretty fucking mad soulreads on me. I guess I wasnt playing optimaly either. Now, I usually try to stop and leave after losing like 4 buyins to someone who isnt completely retarded, but today I had a fish on two other tables and I was stomping him huge so I was actually up for the session. Having a good mindset I decided to keep grinding the soulownerer while I was beating down on the fish. Looking back, that was probably a misstake since he had momentum and he pissed me off in the chat constantly.
Neways, at one point the guy was up 3,4k on me and the fish on the other table was down like 2k to me. I had gotten a pretty good idea on how the soulreader played and I managed to identify a few pretty big leaks. I finally started to make some hands and the guy instatilted after losing a few pots to me.
I finally beat him down to $800 and I left once he won a $800 pot with a luckboxed 85 against my AK.
Im quite satisfied going from being down around 2k to being up 4,4k. Life is good. Although if there is a lesson to learn from tonight session its that momentum is hugehugehuge in HU. Think elephant. And then add like, a car.
The guy completely owned me after winning like 3 buyins. I couldnt win a pot and he played really well. But once I managed to beat myself back, got some confidence and rattled his cage a bit I took it all back in a matter of minutes and it turned out the feared soulowner was just a huge station fish with alot of momentum and confidence.
With this experience I will not make the same misstake again and just leave when im down a couple of buyins, regardless of if im up for the session or not. This time I was fortunate to beat myself back into having some momentum but things could definitely have gone diffrently. I think the edge you have theorywise over an opponent becomes really diminished when you are frustrated and hes loving life.
Oh and I will upload some pics from norway in the near future. Also, hopefully the powercord for my computer arrives tomorrow and I can post some stats and graphs and awesome shit again.
Havent played alot in June. Spent a week in Norway snowboarding which was sick, I might upload some pics later. The nature in the north of Norway is insanely epic. Ive also spent alot of time just catching up with friends whom are all home for the summer.
I forgot my dell xps power cord when moving back home which is a sick beat. I have ordered a new one but its taking forever so Im using my brothers computer in the meantime. Because of this I dont have any pokertracker stats and cant use my HUD(which btw isnt bothering me near as much as I though it would)
Im think Im up about 8-10k in June which Im quite happy about after I had a -7k session on 5/10 and also losing 5k on FTP after stupidly deciding to play on that rigged site again.
Played a sweet session yesterday against a nitty reg. He was up about 2k on me which is really painful when the guy is playing supernitty. Fortunately, nits tilt very easily for some reason and I slowly grinded him down by tilting and soulreading him. I ended up winning all my losses back and making a 4k profit which is sweet
Shout-out to Baal and his country, it's really not as dirty as I stereotyped it to be. This past weekend I went to Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) randomly for some vacation time with some friends. I was basically 50/50 about going, then decided to just go with it and bought my ticket 8:00pm the night before for a flight that left Vegas at 7:50am. Pretty standard. So I arrived in Puerto Vallarta at 4:00pm in the afternoon, and converted $1,000 into $9,900 play monies... errr I mean pesos (Baal-lin!). Checked into a beach-side room at the NH Krystal Hotel and went directly out to the beach to take a nap. Here are some pics:
Beach side view from the middle lobby area of my hotel.
Pre Epic Sun Burn.
My friends arrived at the hotel around 8:00pm and we ended up just drinking and chilling in the jacuzzi tubs til 1:00am. The next day we went out to the pool area:
San Diego girls out in Mexico with me
The pool's wet bar, which was sooooo clutch
Sunset on the beach
For those of you who went to PCA, you would probably know this bar: Senor Frog's. The one in Bahamas is one of my favorite bars, and the one here in Puerto Vallarta was no disappointment either. Definitely a pretty awesome time.

The next day we went downtown to shop and be standard dumb american tourists. Got a few fun souvenirs while I was there. While walking on the beach we saw a guy making these really cool rock formations. Note: These rocks arent glue'd together, the guy was just stacking them one on top of another. Sick balance?
Weird rock formations
Later on that night, we went to the night club (or "disco" as they say in Mexico) right next to our hotel called The Christine. For a $300 peso cover (approx $30 USD) we got a free table, and open bar all night. Sickest deal ever? It was pretty cool how they played a good mix of mexican and american music all night. Not really as upscale as some Vegas night clubs, but it definitly wasn't a shit hole. The place was built similar to The Bank at Bellagio, with the dance floor in the middle, and the tables circling around.

After one of the most awesome weekends I've had in a while, I left late Sunday afternoon and got back to Vegas at 8:00pm. Arrived home just in time to rail my roommate play his last 2 tables in the UB 200k gtd. After an hour long final table with big shots like AJKHoosier1 and ch0ppy, my roommate Thomas Gabriel (aka: plzlemmewin or GoGators86) took down the $45k for 1st place with help from some of his awesome roommates (*cough*). Pretty epic score. My next event at WSOP is going to be on Thursday, the $5,000 NLHE 6-max. Really pumped to play that! This break I had from Vegas should help clear my mind for it, so hopefully I can make something big out of that event.

Been playing quite a bit of omaha the last couple of days, very low stakes (since I had an extremely rudimentary grasp of the game and am still at a pretty low level) but what a crazy game =P
Todays session:
Around the midway point I sort of realized I was playing a bit too many hands that I really wasn't doing too hot with, like maybe if I was twice as good I could play them from the positions I was playing them.. But not now =P So as if to show me their approval the pokergods activated a bit of a boomswitch and I stopped losing flips and 60/40s.
Anyway, some hands, I'm sleepy so might make an update later with hands I need help with.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471870 - O_o I don't remember him seeing me do anything crazy. I mean, I have done quite a few crazy things during these sessions but still. I checked turn cuz it's such a scary card and he seemed like the type to attack weakness for sure.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471739 - Pretty sure riv is a fold.. Unsure about turn but I guess if I have 2 aces, 2 queens, 9 flush outs... Not much in the way of implied odds tho =____=
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471117 - Do I just keep betting? Crazy bluffs I can do but I get a bit weaktight when it comes to valuebetting.. Monsters under the bed and all that.
Sorry for the lack of updates, WSOP has sucked!!! Well not totally... So far I've played 8 tournaments, and cashed in 3 of them. Got 55th in Event #13 for a $9,000 cash, then got 25th in a Venetian Deep stack tournament for a min-cash of $3,000. Then a few days ago, I played Event #31, the $2.5k 6-max tournament. I made it to day 2 easily, despite having one of the harder tables in the room on day 1. But day 2 was a total nightmare, as I lost half my stack when I hit my open-ended straight draw on the same card my opponent hit his backdoor nut flush, then lost the rest when my AK somehow didnt win vs QQ? How do I lose a flip? WTF? Thats not suppose to happen to me! I got 60th in that event for a $5,600 cash. So for the most part I've been pretty break even in tournaments with a few close calls to big time cashes. Overall, I expected the fields to be softer than they are. All the internet pros are out in full force, and you'd be surprised to see how many unfamiliar faces really know how to play the game.
Cash games had been going great for me the first week. I instantly won $16k (10k coming from a single day) at $10/20 live at the Wynn. The regulars were mostly deep stacked nut peddlers who avoided getting into big confrontations which was nice. I proceeded to lose $9k in one night, and every session after that has been break even until wednesday where I should have gotten up from the table when I saw it was probably getting too tough for me to play. I was sitting in the main game with one huge fish and a bunch of tight regulars for 2 hours and had been up close to 6k. Then the fish left and that seat was replaced by my roommate Dookie (plzlemmewin on FTP / GoGators86 on UB) who is fairly competent. Then one of the other bad / tight regulars leave and that seat was replaced by Lex (RaSZi), a few minutes later Victor (Nazgul) sits down and all of the sudden I realize this might not be the best of games. Especially since the feeder table had Rekrul, ElkY, teddy_wong, and GiYoM waiting to get into the main game. I somehow lost two 10k pots in a matter of 20 mins (got 2 outted in one, and somewhat coolered in the other although vs this certain player he was so tight that I might have been able to find a fold with KKd on a Td-9d-5c board in a 3 bet pot) and instantly found myself stuck 5k on the day. I finally decided to leave when RaSZi 3 bet the button and I (being the tilted fish that I am) decided to flat call his 3 bet from the big blind with AKss. RaSZi instantly turns to me and is like "Ace King huh?" Then he looks at his cards and starts guessing the suit of my hand, to which he instantly said "Ace King of spades?" as I sit there steaming my ass off. The flop comes down ten high and I just check/fold to him and leave. God sometimes I play so bad
Had a few good online sessions over here, and have been learning a lot about tournaments and heads-up play thanks to my roommates. For those of you who missed it: My roommate Johnny Neckar got 2nd in the $3k NLHE a few days ago for a $375k score (chopped with John Phan heads-up, and took away the bigger prize $). In true degen fashion, after 6 hours of heads-up play they agreed to shove all-in blind! Obv John Phan ran better in that and won, which sucked, but props to my roommate for kicking ass.
Anyways, right now I'm in Puerto Vallarta for a much needed vacation. Ill update my blog more in the up coming week. I promise! Ok later~

12 hours of play (or so), down only 2k but it's SOOOOOOOOOOO TILTING, because I was fucking 178 $ away from breakeven 1 hour ago.
God, I haven't won a flip all day. Not preflop, not on the flop, not even if I'm dominating them preflop. Lost 2 flips at 5/10 (but also sucked out once so the 5/10 results were not very tilting, just super standard).. But this session.... GUDFHGUGH
I usually 4 table but.... tilt. 6-7 tables gogo - . - Probably played my B game (maybe C game towards the end) but also ran like dogshit.
Sad thing is I think my pokertracker managed to not import the last batch of losses (QQ vs AK vs a 30bb stack, he hits obv because I won 1 out of like 10 coinflips today!) 22 vs a shortstack I raised preflop, he calls, I cbet AQ3 flop he calls, I c/r AI on 2 turn, he has 333 gg me, as well as some other hand.. I dunno let's add 300 to the losses maybe).
I'm not even gonna post hands, I don't want to play poker ever again right now -.-
This hand describes my day best: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/465801
Did I mention he leaves like 1 orbit later?
Sooooo I just finished 7 hours of poker, of which a significant portion consisted of me ONE TABLING 3/6.. I couldn't fucking leave, between 200 and 300bb deep, shorthanded, vs a 75/25 fish, with position on him. Oh maaaaaaaaaan he was baaaaaaaaaad. He started adjusting a little and I was a bit carddead for a bit, but still finished up on him despite a poor end to the session (down like 500 from my high point, oh well , was standard stuff).
He was like sooo easy to play vs too for most of the time, like betting super small when he had nothing, snapcalling with like jack hi on the flop and and mucking turn blanks (this was soooo helpful when he flopped top set with AA and timed down before he called, then checked it down).
Some hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/464642 - How not to make money from 75/25 calling stations, by Prettyfish. I don't know if he was on stone tilt or just playing too many tables to pay attention or something..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/464589 - Hrm ok this hand was a bit weird, I didn't want to play a big pot here vs anyone but 69coi (actually in hindsight I probably want to vs x29x too, not sure I knew as much about him then tho).. I think with the Ac it would be a fine play, without it, I'm not sure.
Anyway, probably a few other interesting hands but I'm not gonna go through them right now.
Before this awesome 3/6 session (which I didn't finish up THAT much on, only about a buyin despite having 3 buyins on the table =P I guess I must have lost a bunch before that, not that I remember, got tables scrambled after the software froze on me).... anyway, as I was saying, before the 3/6 1 table marathon I was looking for a 2nd table to add, and as there were no good ones at 3/6, I looked at 5/10.
Found a table with a 50bb stack and a 100bb stack, opened it just in time to see the shortstack open jam preflop and sat down as fast as humanly possible He was, indeed, quite literally batshit insane and managed to get another reg to valuestack himself with JJ on A-Q-X vs his Q4sooted ( http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/464657 ). So yeah, he leaves shortly thereafter and I was going to leave as well, but there was another SS fish so I stayed.
Got a nice run of playable hands and ended up raising like 4 or so hands in a row when this gem comes up: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/464563 - The guy from the JJ vs Q4 hand INSTA raises the flop and I valueshove after tanking for a few seconds figuring out wether I should call or shove. He snaps me with 44, life is good.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/464564 - Betsizing tells are good.
EDIT: Ohhhhhh he had a pair, hm..... oh well, given what I'd seen from him I still like my call I think ~~
So in the end I finished up 3k or something like that , maybe 2.5k which certainly isn't like super sick or anything but I'm very happy with the latter parts of the session, as I started out playing quite poorly with several hands I was very unhappy with. Oh well, I'm not sure how much sense I'm making, it's 8 am and I haven't slept yet, just very pleased with the results =] Almost green for 3/6 (I've had soooo many KK vs AA, QQ vs KK, QQ vs JJJ etc at 3/6 ;p, while I run like god on 2/4).
Maybe I'll keep playing (read: taking shots) 5/10 if the games are soft, but I don't really have enough to want to "move up".
June is meh, I finally finished school and that was awesome. Havent really played as much as I wanted to though been way to lazy lately. Im starting to make the transition into 5/10, or rather, I was starting the transition but today fucked me big time.
I was up a couple of k for june and feeling pretty confident i sat down with this random guy HU. We played for a while and he seemed kinda bad, not terrible just to tight and transparent. He asked for 2 tabling and I accepted. Soon though all hell broke loose. So standard right?
I didnt get super bad beated much but nothing went my way and I played pretty bad. Actually, thinking about it, I played really fucking bad. Even though I lost around 3k to him in just preflop flips all in all I made some terrible misstakes. I shoved Q7 once pf pretty deep with little fold equity, I 3-bet way to much and I made one dumb calldown I can recall.
Anyways, dropped I think 6k to the guy before instaquiting(I have a stoploss at 5 buyins but lost a 200bb pot just before I left) and that means Im actually down $800 for the month.
Anyways, lesson learned. I have really been killing 3/6 lately and I feel superconfident playing there so I will stick to doing that all through June and give 5/10 another shot in July or so.
FINAAAAAAALLLLLLY
Most tilt inducing session of all time aaaaaaaaah (of all time should probably be translated to in a long time), but I think I ended +10$ or something after grinding for 4 hours and being down like 2k.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/456558 - LOL T-6o http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/456555 - Pretty sure he doesn't raise top pair here cause he probably 3bets any good ace, and I saw him c/c a v good top pair w KT on TXX before, so a bunch of draws and bluffs here.. and 2 pair. Fuck. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/456553 - So I flop the nuts. With a straight flush redraw. Vs bottom 2. He's been running like god and continues to run like god, how the hell doooooessss heeeee hit. Life tilt. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/456631 - 99 vs 25suited on a 678 rainbow flop. WHAT HAND COULD POSSIBLY WIN?
I think I've been playing a bit passively lately, I've noticed my W$WSF has dropped a bit.. I need to probably incorporate more post flop aggression and perhaps a tad more preflop (I've been experimenting with not 3betting that much but I think I need to turn up the bluffing post flop if I play that way).
Meh, need to figure out how I want to balance things Probably best to be able to switch things around.
Also, I think playing these monster "GET BACK TO EVEN OR DIE TRYING" sessions really hurt your game after a few hours :D
Just got back to the Wynn after busting out from the $1500 event at the Rio today. I basically got put at an awesome table where I knew no one... in fact the only -person I recognized in the 10 tables around me was Shannon Shorr which was kinda funny. So how awesome was my starting table? The 2nd hand at my table, action gets folded around to the small blind. The guy who is in the big blind IS NOT FUCKING THERE. Small blind folds. /epic fail. Anyways here is my bust out hand:
Blinds at 25/50 with a 3k starting stack. Folded to the cut-off who makes it 150, I repop him to 400 on the button with KK (this was my second time I had repopped this same guy) . Both blinds fold and CO calls. Flop comes Jc-Tc-6d, he checks, I bet 700, he check-raises all-in for 2300 total. I call like duh obviously and he has KQo. Turn Ace, uggg... river 3 and I'm out.
Just met up with peachy_keen and brystmar to pick up my buy-ins so now I'm going to take a nap then grind 5/10 at the wynn for the rest of the night.

May has by far been my best month in a very long time. I feel superconfident in my game and Ive been running good forever. Unfortunately I have been sick busy with everything in school. Alot of shit has been building up that I really need to do before the 4th of June. Today Ive taken a day off though, need to get drunk asap to relieve some stress and shit.
Im pumped about June , hopefully I will be able to play atleast 50k hands although I will be doing alot of other shit, including going snowboarding for a week in Norway(summer skiing fucking owns!)And maybe ship a trip to Vegas. I still havent decided if Im going or not.
