To recap I moved to 100NL for the 3rd time at the beginning of August, right on schedule. Ran up 5 buy-ins then dropped to a point where I had to move back down to NL50 again. No biggie, because I now know its possible to actually win at poker. It seems like the higher I go the tougher I have to be, mentally and physically.
So basically I ended the month of august at around the 20th and didn't really play much after that. Why? Because I was busy moving out of my home for the first time, from Honolulu to Seattle. I'm off to live with my brother and his wife in a guest room at their suburban neighborhood for school. In fact, I have to get up in 6 hours to get ready and be on my flight. Sweet.
Obvious brag: Bought a refurbished dell XPS 1530 from the dell outlet store. It looks pretty awesome, and I made sure that the specs were good enough to run SCII. Theres something about an 8600 nvidia gforce graphics card in there so must be nice. I wonder how it will operate with poker...hmm.
I feel like I've lost a lot of poker momentum at the end of august and hope to pick up the pace in September. There will be no school for me until the 22nd so it should be a nice rebound period.
Finally, the best of news is that I am 26bb away from being rolled at 100NL again. Fails? I think not.
I plan to include pics in my next blog post on my new set up. Shout out to the sMi krew - k2o4, failsafe, crownnoobasauroyal, arcology, and other no name hotshots to be.
Apparently ninjas don\'t always winby barbieman, August 28
Started Playing NL100 7k hands and a couple of days ago, I'm pretty sure I'll make more money here than in NL50, in %. So far I feel like the fish here gives you money easier, a.k.a. the loose calling station type is more common, weee. Only problem is that I've been running like crap most of the time, on top of that I've lost all-ins worth about 1,5k on bad beats, most of them as a big favourite. The only good thing is that I'm still in the GREEN ZONE. But it still sucks.
i think im going to officially take a break from poker, the month of august would then end something like $600 over, but at a staggering something like.. 100+ hours played at $8.00 an hour or worse; my last 30-40k hands have been very very bad. when i come back i will have to force myself to do something like stay in nl25 fr for 50k hands or until i make 40 bi or something ridiculous to get my head straight.
school starts soon, i just have a 60% course load to finish and then its off to teachers college so i can get a real career like all the poker books tell me to.. so i guess its good for my karma to focus on that instead anyway
I know this means nothing, I ran good and I'm probably still a losing player at 25nl in the long run, but I need a taste of glory to keep me going. First winning session at 25nl - feels good man.
So Ive been playing a little more 10nl and its getting better. Ive read a bit more about 6max and watched a few videos. I'm defiantly improving, but still making mistakes. Hopefully I can move up to 25nl by the end of august.
So if anyone knows of a book or something that teaches flippin' skillz, let me know. Good how-to guides on ritual sacrifice are also greatly appreciated. 6k hands and down about 1.5 buyins really sucks.
So i'm pretty excited about warhammer online coming. Any mmo player probably knows about it. Some wow players are probably hating on it, but it's gonna be a great game.
I mean with daoc development team + EA gaming money... you can't really go wrong.
Also pretty excited about diego/thiago. Great matchup.
Well I ended up watching the DNC on Tuesday night and playing poker while drinking beer. Was on NL100 and played 3k hands while watching and lost 3 buy-ins... but I cruised on VPP! I checked afterwards and it if I subtracted the few spews I had I was on track for a break even night, so I didn't feel too bad about the loss, and the fact that at the end of the night I only needed another 140 VPP to make Platinum was a comfort.
But the loss was enough to make me feel like playing NL50 again. I played last night while watching the DNC and got about 2k hands @ NL50 for a 4 buyin win and PLATINUM STAR! Woot! Nice to be back up to this level where FPP come quicker and I can buy the $600 bonus. Plus I only need 21,600 VPP to make supernova now, and I have 4 months to do it! So I feel very on track. Basically 90k hands away from it if I played NL50 the entire time. I think I'll make supernova by the end of November at the latest, which will totally pwn.
So I'm sitting @ $2,700 in the BR and gonna play NL50 unless I see juicy NL100 tables, which will probably happen tomorrow since it's Friday. If I can be over 3k by the end of the month I will be very happy cause I'll feel solidly into NL100, which was my goal.
Oh, and I have tickets to Invesco tonight so I get to go watch Obama speak live! Hells yeah!
So I started 25nl when I hit 750, initially I was owned so badly by 2 pairs and got set farmed like crazy, after a while I settled down and started again after sleeping for 4 hrs and ended up at +150 for the day. Since I have reached 50k hands for this month goal my friend gonna ship me 100, and with 3 more days after today I hope I can have a huge friday/saturday on 25nl so I can get enough for 50nl in september.
So my shot at 50PLO has been going well over the past few weeks. I've played only 14k hands but I am running at a stable 8pt/bb and I see no reason why I should ever be less than a 7-10pt/bb winner on this stake unless I'm playing poorly or making mistakes. I figured I would post up a summer graph. This is the first time for me that I've really begun to take poker seriously and try to actually figure out how to become a winning player rather than just grind hands and win inconsistently. I took my game down to scratch several times and then eventually I just got it. See if you can guess the point of the graph where I finally "got it" lol.
