Uhhh it still has the "important! blah blah blah data posted now will be lost!" message at the top on all pages except for when i click on a topic under "poker blogs"
I posted a long response to k2o4's blog, and I'd mentioned putting up a sort of conservative-equivalent of brett's blog a while back. Unfortunately, politics make me sad, and I'm neither particularly conservative nor liberal sooooo this won't really fit the bill of an anti-liberal blog. Instead, I'll probably just make this one post (pardon the title) to try and elicit a little LP.net discussion with a slightly conservative slant to the initial rant
From k2o4's blog:
i think that the republican point of view warrants some explaining. one of my friends is a staunch conservative who is very involved with the mccain campaign in the southeast. yesterday he was talking about the mccain campaign's decision to try to trash obama's image
the point conservatives are most adamant about, recently anyway, is that they aren't responsible for the current state of the economy, and secondly that they were not in favor of the bail out bill.
- on the bailout bill: according to the conservative strategists, the only way that mccain could have even the slimmest chance of winning the election in november was for the republican side of congress to pass the bail out bill. the irony of the situation is that conservatives thought that the bill was bad for the US but that obama being elected would be even worse for both the nation and of course the republican party.
so, the republicans openly supported the bill (though maybe without the enthusiasm of democrats) out of necessity.
- on the economy (my own opinion): it's entirely disingenuous for the democrats (who hold a significant majority in congress) to blame the bush administration for the recent stock market / banking meltdown. Wiki: The Fed has a lot of the explanation: basically Bush's administration appoints much of the oversight, but all of the appointees have been confirmed by the Senate and are subject to a degree of Senatorial oversight, meaning that a democratic congress (read senate: obama/biden) is equally culpable for the financial situation. And beyond all this, much of the central banking system is privately handled, so at least some responsibility falls outside the government structure.
I think it's got to be equally clear regarding the war in iraq that while democrats may disagree with it on moral grounds, the current economic description of the war is entirely misleading. The correlation between US gov. debt and market / financial institution erosion is entirely misleading. Government spending, in most macro economical models typically improves the nation's GDP and unemployment (because the government is generally employing its citizens in some capacity with its spending). And unemployment is a leading economic indicator(s). SO, the oblique references made by democrats to government spending for the war on terror as a major cause for economic complaint is not well-grounded.
i guess other big problems with the democrats and the economy are that socialism is not a sound economic system because it does not, generally speaking, maximize the utility (value, basically) of either the private or public sector. it reduces real income in pretty much every model and yet, the recent bail out bill basically has a bunch of "riders" that are rapidly working to socialize the united states' financial institutions. largely these riders are the product of a democratic congress who was largely in favor of the bill. to say that the country's financial institutions require more oversight is a far cry from a 4 page bail out bill being frantically rewritten into a 100+ page document that no one has time to read or evaluate (especially not US congressmen)
another problem with barack's economic policies is socialized health care. yes it has achieved some good in other nations, and yes some of the complaints against it are wildly speculative, but the serious flaws inherent in socialism (and any system that defies market-clearing prices) are present. what's worse, is that socializing health care, as the industry currently stands, ignores that there is currently a serious problem with health care pricing, and that the problem is growing rapidly. the problem currently is a lack of market-clearing price levels (for which the government is largely responsible). the enormity of the central government in the united states has lent itself to a lot of "rent-seeking" by medical company representatives seeking special privileges (which are often granted). so pretty much, my argument is that the government really must move to effect a market-solution to discover the "actual value" of health care as it is currently supplied and demanded before moving to create a socialized system (if a socialized system is a good idea), and that obama's plan appears like it will compound the problems of sky-rocketing health care prices while shifting the burden from the consumer to an already indebted government.
ugh okay i've cleared interjected a lot more of my own analysis than i wanted, but anyway i think i'll end by quickly saying that the republicans have enacted the strategy that they have because they feel so strongly that obama and a democratic congress represent a lot of injury to the united states in the near future. it's more of a desperation tactic where the ends are thought to justify the means (which as someone else alluded, is a conservative hallmark).
i personally think that if more people were better educated as to the issues of this 2008 election, the campaigning would have to take a very different form on both sides. to my eyes, both sides are very sensationalist and it's sad to see that it works so well on our biased electorate.
Blog's seem messed up and vids aren't working at all, sry TT)
I'll probably add more to this post later today but for now I just gotta share this vid addressing all this BS "Obama is a terrorist!" shit going on the last few days thanks to McPalin encouraging it as much as possible. So disgusting.
Here's some more interesting stuff for today, most disturbingly the sick fucks who are calling Obama a terrorist: + Show Spoiler +
McCain was speaking today in New Mexico, doing his usual personal attack on Barack Obama, as the stock market plummeted (you can see the ticker next to McCain on the screen, an apt reminder of what McCain and his fellow Republicans represent), and McCain asked the crowd "who is Barack Obama?" Immediately you hear someone yell "terrorist." McCain pauses, the audience laughs, and McCain continues on, not acknowledging, not chastising, not correcting. Oh, but McCain does say in the next sentence that he's upset about all the "angry barrage of insults."
The Washington Post reports on a similar moment at a Palin rally today:
"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.
"Boooo!" said the crowd.
"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.
"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.
Story continues below
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.
And it's spilling over into racial slurs against the press: + Show Spoiler +
And Dana Milbank highlights another incident from Tuesday:
Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
Funny look inside a Palin debate watch party/rally where they laughed at Biden's emotional moment. + Show Spoiler +
American News Project went inside a pro-Palin rally set up by the McCain campaign to watch the vice presidential debate, where supporters booed moderator Gwen Ifill and laughed when Sen. Joe Biden got choked up talking about his first wife and daughter's deaths. Watch:
Overall it's getting dirty, nasty, sick, disgusting and vile and that's what McPalin wants, cause it's their only shot. Pretty fucked up.

I was wrestling with my gf`s 95 pound dog, trying to put the dog in full mount. It was 15 min before the Kimbo fight so i was like what the hell. I still can`t believe the dog is only 18 months old. Anyways, she was filming it without me knowing and I found out today it was on her camera, so i might as well share it will you all. BTW, that dog is a lot stronger than it looks, holy crap. I dance with it after, why u ask... well.... it thought i was going to hit it so I made it happy, plus I got problems , lets leave it at that. My balls will never be the same, Enjoy.
I'm looking to incorporate some higher stakes MTT into my play. I have a friend wanting to stake me for some FTP events and tbh neither of us are that versed in staking agreements. So, if anyone has any info on standard agreements please share or direct me to a place where I can find out more. I'm guessing 50/50 after makeup is standard but wanted to seek feedback.
Additionally, I would like to play the Sunday slate on stars and potentially some live events in Florida when I visit (in the 300-1100 buyin range) so feel free to sweat my results if you're in the market for buying action.
Respected people ( and by respected I mean RESPECTED especially with the scamming shit going on ;p ) or people that I know in real life from EPT Warsaw / San Remo / Monte Carlo = I can send first.
Other way I can get people vouch for me, we can send in smaller parts, but Im not sending first.
After the last blog Evelyn came to Holland. We were going to play in Cannes together for a Poker Battle tournament, as part of the Partouche Poker Tour. It was a good time to show her my house and Holland in general. Of course jetlag was there too, so we mostly did some chilling at my place and getting some rest for our trip to France. It was the third or fourth time I flew to Nice this year, pretty crazy. Everything there was organized nicely, a car to pick us up from airport, arranged hotelroom and constant transport from the hotel to the casino. Unfortunately we both didn't go deep. Evelyn did make day 2 though, only to bust out AK Vs A8. Apart from playing we had a good time at the beach and just treating it like a holiday. Of course there were also TV shows involved.
Around Cannes I started watching Smallville, this is basically a tv-show about supermans childhood. In the beginning it's kinda slow and simple, but it gets deeper and especially darker. I've also started watching the Office, which is really light entertainment and The Shield. Holy Shit, this show is the nuts. It's realistic from what I've heard and the creators are not afraid to shock the audience. Definitely a tip for people who are into TV-Shows.
After Cannes Evelyn went back to the US to attend a Guitar Hero 4 promotion thing, which wasn't badly timed, cause WCOOP started. I don't have good memories from this years WCOOP . I did get close to big scores finishing 10th in the PLO 6 handed tournament and deep in another PLO. Also a 1k holdem could have gotten big, but other than that, only disappointment. The schedule was gruelling and while I wanted to get back to a healthy life after Vegas I was forced to wake up every day at 6-7 pm :/ .
LOL:
London
Shortly before the WSOP Europe started i decided to go play. I travelled together with brummel (utreg) who had been running like Zeus up to that point. I was hoping some of his good luck would rub off on me :D. We arrived there on friday, met up with Eron, a friend of brummel that lives in London. After registering for the tournament we decided to go out, since we were playing day 1b anyway. Brummel had some good experiences with a club called Fabric, kind of an underground club. Later a lot of my friends told me it is indeed what it looked like and very popular in the techno/dnb scene. That night they actually played a lot of Drum and bass and it revived my appreciation for this genre. Dj Hype was playing that night and it was kinda crazy inside. A lot of happy people, a lot of drugs, loud music and Lex being kicked out. Arg.
Unfortunately after a couple of beers I decided it's not THAT big of a problem to have a no smoking rule inside. As soon as the cigarette touched my lips I saw a big blind spot appear in my vision. The bouncer didn't take kindly to my behaviour and dragged me down the stairs. I mean, I dunno how big the fines are, but chill the fuck out. It's not like I was molesting girls or something. I smoked a cigarette. 'Please leave sir' Lex: 'Sure sorry' would have done the trick. We went to the hotel to chill there a bit more. Btw when I told a friend of mine about drum and bass he said some new genre is getting popular, called Dubstep. He showed me a couple examples and i fucking love it~
The next day was a pure chillout day as we watched like 8 shield episodes and 6 smallville ones. I went to sleep around 1am, but it wasn't uninterrupted. Imagine waking up and you hear your door click in a hotel. This is the most common thing when you don't put up the Do Not Disturb sign, as house keeping comes in to clean. So I say, sorry no service, and I hear the door click. In stead of continuing to sleep however, suddenly there is a crazy person in his boxers in our room. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!? I'm like, am i trippin? Then I hear brummels reaction and we're like what the fuck are you doing here. He replies, clearly on drugs, 'It's ok it's my room. Guess what, it's not ok. He actually wanted to crash on the bed, so we push him away and he walks out, or at least I think. I walk over to the door only to see him sit on the toilet texting someone........... Brummel called reception by now and they arrive shortly to take the guy out. It's very comforting to then hear that security let him in after he CLAIMED it was his room. I mean seriously.. Oh a drunken guy, lets quickly get him in a room, that he claims is his. We flip out to hotel management and they are kinda speechless. Imagine a guy on dope walking in on a girl like that. As compensation they upgrade our room and give us champagne the next day. Weirdest thing ever in my long hotel-visiting history.
When I got to the Main Event the only player I recognized at the table was Juanda. He was 2 to my left, which isn't that perfect, but not a disaster either. That was until John Pham sat down to my immediate left. And a sick euro player i recognized to juanda's left. Fuck my life. I started playing tight as soon as the other 2 sat down, and I lost some really unfortunate hands to get down to about 8k, from 20k starting stack. The euro player got knocked out and Hansen moved to his seat, lol. Then I raise to 600 in the 100-200 level with {As}{Kd}, Hansen called and the button called. The flop was seemingly perfect {Kc}{7c}{2s}, I bet 1600, Hansen calls and the button makes it 8k, putting me allin for 7.8k. With the draw and my top-top (lol) I'm never folding here. Then something weird happens as Hansen flat calls, with just 12k behind. The turn is a {4s}, Hansen folds to the buttons shove. I ask the button please have pair + draw, and he flips over a set of 7's. Hansen doesn't fail to mention 'everyone knew he had a set'. Well guess what Gus, only you knew YOU had the clubs, so that's a pretty retarded comment. Button either had a set or a big draw, so for hansen its pretty clear the button isn't drawing when he folds {Ac}{5c}, but that aside. Tournament was over and after Brummel got KO'd we planned our flight home the next day.
Time for change
I really don't like the way things are going. I'm not playing enough, I'm not playing the right games and i'm in terrible shape. The WSOP messed my whole rhythm up completely, as always. I thought about what I needed to fix and I can only come up with one thing; not travel for a while. I really need to grind the upcoming months and not destroy it by making myself more tired. I really feel if i continue what I've been doing it will destroy me, so I need to live more healthy and responsible. If i have everything in order in the basis, I can travel without it wearing me down, cause I have something to rely on. Now travelling only makes me impatient. Also I wanna be able to keep travelling, so a break here and there is ok. Luckily I have a superawesome girlfriend who understand my whining and she will visit me again this year and then beginning of next year I'm gonna go to vegas. I love being at her place and when there is no WSOP and 120 degree heat, it's not gonna drain me at all. However, I feel if i go to Vegas now, I'll kill whatever energy I have left, so this is the best thing to do imo.
I had to recover from a flu when I got back, but last days have been awesome. I took care of a lot of stuff, I grinded online, played tennis and went to the gym. Tomorrow I'm gonna watch Tony Drago play a pool tournament here in Rotterdam and soon there are some smallish poker tournaments 100 ft from my house, so I'll definitely attend those. It's called Rotterdam Freezeout Series and I'm playing the 200e 400e and 1000e event. After that it's a lot of grinding again and then the next live stop will be Amsterdam Master Classics of Poker. They have a lot of interesting events and also a 6500 euro main event, which has been one of the bigger European tournaments for yeeeaars.
There is also a lot happening with Poker tv-shows in Holland and I'm starring in most of them, so that's really exciting.
