Fun at NL10 by mikeymoo, January 03

Well after yesterday's fiasco...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/38a80576aa6462ad5f3d81493a448df3.jpg
Could be worse I suppose. Am I a nit for not wanting to move back up at 25 buyins? I'm waiting for thirty, but grinding NL10 is hurting me on the inside (people are SO BAD)

Just whining by Sicks Macks, January 03

This pisses me off:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/4723e379a59132e8de0f0fd71e78e89c.png

I'm currently beating nl50 for like 5bb/100... should be 10ish.
Last hand off session (5 tables closed, UTG, autopost unchecked). I has readz so I think I played this perfect against his range (and obviously his hand). Kinda interesting imo:

Live NL20 lolol by edzwoo, January 03

Went with my older brother to play a friendly game of live NL20 with his friends. I'm 19 and they're all like 27ish so it was a bit amusing in that way. It was a table of extremely weak tight players, two decent TAG players, and one maniac player.

Pots:
-Already had to topoff since I lost about 10 bucks to the maniac player before realizing he was in fact a maniac player. So I rebought $20 (over the max). Limped along Q3cc on the button when 3 people limped in. Flop came Kxx three clubs. It checked around to me and I bet pot, one caller. Turn As which is amazing because if he had a lone Ac, I was very likely to stack him at this point. I get cr and 3bet shove and get called by A6cc , sick cooler. Lost about 150bbs there.

-Rebought and chipped up to around 150bb again, had AKdd UTG. Raised pre to 1.20, got by one of the TAG players to 3.60. I thought for a bit, counted my chips then 4bet to 8.60 (5 dollar chip). Plan was to 4bet small/call shove or cbet flop really hard to rep Aces or Kings because I thought the player was capable of convincing himself of doing so, but in retrospect I just ended up leveling myself. Flop came low with 1 diamond and I put a committing cbet of $12 and hit a K on the turn.

-Had $60 but missed a few flops with AQhh and got 3bet a few times with marginal hands by the weak tight players, so I dropped to around $45. Woke up with AA and ended up stacking someone's KJ on a J high flop. Was pretty dramatic since we got it all in on the flop and turn came J, river A. Got back to around $65.

-We were finishing up and the player I stacked earlier raised to $3 (became the standard raise because of the maniac player), I 3bet KK to $10, then the tightest player directly to my left who played about 2 of the last 40 hands 4bet shoved $27 on top, then walked away from the table, started stretching a bit, then sat down on a couch and had a pretty confident tone in his voice LOL SICK? The original raiser looked extremely discomforted and said something like "wow, I really think one of you has to have me beat", fidgeted a little and then ended up looking a bit sad and mucked. Based on table dynamics and dead money though, there was no way I was folding, so I called and he turned up AKcc. Flop came down 2 clubs and backdoor straight for AK and he hit a club on the turn .

So yeah, ended up down $40, time to go win half a buyin at NL100 and cash that out to recoop losses.

tl;dr gg

What.cd invites by voodoouser, January 03

Hello,

i'm offering two what.cd invitations for you liquidpoker members (i will have more later if other people are interested...).
If you want one you need to:
- pm me a screenshot of your account of another private torrent community website showing your ratio.
OR
- pm me the answers of these questions:
What is a transcode?
What bitrate means?
What ratio means (torrent)? what is a good ratio?
What lossless means?
What CD ripping program & torrent client do you use?
Do you know how to encode CD properly?

All these questions arent to annoy you, it's only because i may be kicked off if i invite people that dont respect simple torrent tracker rules and doesnt know anything about audio ripping&encoding. As what.cd is the world best&biggest private audio traker i want to stay in!
invites goes to the first two who complete sucessfully one of the above things.

gl@tables & happy new year.

Word by deahttubb, January 03

I recently started playing after lurking for some time. My goal for the year is to be playing NL200 near the year end. I have Hold'em Manager and have been reading the plugging leaks articles and have been adjusting as I saw necessary. I have been playing for about a month and a half now.

I would appreciate if you would give me your opinion on my stats and what you think (very brief if at all) I am doing right or wrong.

One more day by EXCELED, January 03

Yep, one more day and Im outta here... here being Cambridge Ontario aka. Lamebridge. I have lived here in Cambridge for a long time. Good place to raise your kids I guess but thats about it lol. 0 bars, 0 anything to do except smoke dope and try to figure out something else to do other then smoking dope but then realizing that there is nothing else to do here lol. I am definitly ready for some change in my life though. I am finally moving out... finally. Im not going to say I am moving out because I dont like my parents or anything because honestly they are the best.

Im moving to London Ontario, home of the London Knights, Western University and Fanshawe College... and not to mention one of the best frosh weeks in Canada. Im pretty excited for this change but at the same time it feels kind of weird knowing that tomorrow I will be living in a completely new city, in a new house, with new people. Plus Im going to be going to back to school again which means homework... ewe. But I gotta get my shit together and work hard towads getting an education. I already tried once but the course I was in just wasnt for me and that year ended up just being a complete waste of time and money. I think Ive learned my lesson from past experiences and this time Im going to do it right.

I have a few friends who live in London. Most of them I know from High school and a few others just from playing sports growing up. Hopefully they can introduce me too some new people (hopefully sexy brods) and show me how to party in this city. Next weekend my buddies girlfriend Michelle is throwing me a little welcoming party lol. Last time I partied with his g/f and her friends I ended up poachin one of em and had the best night Id had in a long time. Hopefully there will be plenty of nights like this to come lol. Its going to be the first week back from chirstmas break so I know everyone is going to be in party mode.

Anyways... onto the poker side of things. I havent been playing much lately because Ive been pretty busy trying to get settled in, hanging out with friends while there home etc. I managed to get in only 450 hands this morning and make around 80BB. Very nice session. It started off kinda shitty and I started thinking man I hope this isnt one of those days lol. But I just plunged through and eventually all those shit players ended up paying me off. Ive only actually played 2.6k hands since I did my big withdrawl and moved down limits but so far Im up 344BB.

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/pokerpoker.jpg

Slow and steady wins the race lol. I have a week to do absolutely nothing start Monday so Im going to put in some serious grinding hours. I want to do atleast 1k hands a day and hopefully if everyting goes well this week Ill be able to move up in limits again reaaaaal soon. I want to have atleast 500BB for the next limit. So with that in mind I need to make about another 250 before I can move up. Piece of cake lol.

I gotta go finish packing all my clothes and any other shit that I wanna bring down tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

New watch by SakiSaki, January 03

Obv I want to be like frinkx so I ordered a new watch. Normally I am to much of a lifenit to spend alot of money on a watch, and I have stopped myself from doing so in the past ensuring myself that if I ever scored big in a donkament I would buy one.

So yeah, the day finally came and I can buy a nice watch without feeling like a life degen. I have looked around alot on watches drooling over among others the zenith chronomaster but finally decided on a more plain and standard swiss watch, the omega speedmaster.

Starting of 2009 by AcroN, January 03

Hey there

Figured id start of 2009 by making myself a blog. Iv always had trouble with putting in some real effort on the side of playing, so gonna see if trying to keep this thing updated can help me progress and keep going.

My names Thomas, and im 22 years old from Norway. Studying computer engineering atm, exactly half way through my bachelor this x-mas. Iv been playing poker for abit over a year i think, but like i said never really put to much effort into this.

Started of with 50$ and abit of help from a friend and iv played various things up til 100nl 6-max. Currently sitting on a 2.7k roll, and planning on taking on HU poker as that seems to keep me focused.

Gl to everyone, hope you all have a great 2009!

I'm doing something wrong by CrownRoyal, January 03

ugh ok i regret posting this but whatever.

First and foremost, I'm currently a losing poker player. I think if you can take the times when im playing in the right state of mind and not tilting/spewing/playing games i can't afford that I have at least a 5ptbb/100 edge over my competition (nl25). I used to beat the games over 100k+ hands at that winrate like 2 years ago as my only source of income plus sngs and I'd have to say I think im about 2x better now than I was then, same skill as far as sngs though i was actually probably better at sngs then because i was even nittier.

I dunno wtf im doing wrong but I keep repeating the same stupid chain of events.

Deposit 200-500 -> Win 100-500 -> Go broke.

I KNOW that I'm doing stupid stuff that is bad for my bankroll like playing in $50+ tournaments or playing 25 $25 sngs or something and then if i lose in those/do bad I play heads up and degen it up or play heads up sngs. The money doesn't mean anything to me and I chalk it up to "Well I can afford it, it's a good investment in the long run anyway" Which is probably true but it's completely way off. I CRUSH live games because I can't spew at all in bankroll management. Online though, it's too easy to find a game or two that i can't afford to play in online and jump in. Also in real life I can see my money coming and going much faster so maybe that has something to do with it although if anything at a 1/2 table I am by far the person moving the most money around so it's not like im playing scared at the casino because im playing like 35/20 fullring winning like ~$33 an hour which is probably a pretty decent ptbb/100.

I want to play poker and play high stakes it's something that I'm really interested in and i've put so much time into playing poker that I just can't see how it can't be a goal for me. Maybe I have the same problems as neilly and i don't have the patience to wait for it and i'm rushing it. In a lot of ways I can relate to neilly but I'm so much more realistic than him and SO much better at poker that it's not really comparable.

How the hell do I break my habits, I need bankroll management help so badly it's ridiculous. It seems that there is no way for me to ever overcome my mental situation and i'm doomed and should quit playing poker but I don't want to do that. I want to succeed i fucking hate losing ugh.

/end rant.

Blogging agian... by Cro)Deadman, January 03

As some of you who are friends with may had noticed I was on a 3 month poker break because of few simple things...

I had enough money, had decent BR and achived supernova,so due to the fact I don't really like poker too much as a game, more as a source of income which I didn't need at the time I called it quits.

Now after seeing some of my friends playing NL200+ with very good bankrolls I think I made a mistake, because somewhere down the line when I'm 30-40 If I can already have enough money to not work ever again in my life why not try seriously?

So I made some decisions.First off I ain't moving back up to NL200 until i have 12.5-15k$ BR,and this year im gonna grind more then I did last year (like 130k hands or smth lol) to see how much exactly can I make.

If I make more then 50k which I think I'm able to do then I'll continue to pursue poker as my main source of income,if not I'll try to find some kind of a balance in my life working a "real" job and playing poker on the side as many do.

Peace,Dan.

New Year... New Game? by EXCELED, January 02

I havent really been playing much poker lately because Ive been trying to get all moved into my new place in London. I got most of the shit down there today minus my clothes and a few shelves. Ill be all moved in on Sunday night.

Anywyas as most of you know I am a LHE player. I play mostly 6 Max and the occasional HU if its a good game. I do enjoy LHE but lately I have been getting kind of bored and considering making a change over the NLHE. Now I suppose I could go 6 Max but I really want to get good at playing HU. I think HU is one of, if not the most profitable game with good game selection.

So I need somewhere to start. If anyone recently has become a HU player or has switched games I wouldnt mind hearing your story as to how its been going and why you made the change. Also what information did you find helped make your transition easier? Where can I find info on HU NLHE? I really am considering the switch and need your guys help.

Any info, help, words of wisdom etc. is appreciated.

Maybe I can do it! by Night2o1, January 02

My uncle is coming down from Montana and will be here any minute. He's a pretty awesome guy (I did catch him on FTP being a huge fish too :D railed his play money tournament LOL. He deposited and has played some real tournaments since then, I think out of embarrassment.) He's traveled all over the world, taken me to Puerto Rico and paid all expenses(We partied a lot ^^), etc. So I'm glad to be see'n him for a couple of days down here.

Poker wise..
Hopefully I'm not just running good for the past 10k or so hands, and I can actually stay at nl20 finally. I've mentioned it before but its really odd for me to struggle so much to be reasonably decent at something.. so I hope my hard work and time spent pays off. Luckily I enjoy poker, so I can keep my grind on. Gotta keep learning too.

I made a call that I thought was pretty cool today http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/D...nd=xcPHwMTFxcDMw8TExMTNzYjCxcPFwMU%3d . I didn't think it made any sense for him to have an ace+ here, expect non-ace hi FD. (maybe this is a suicidal call though who knows ;p)
I have been playing a solid 5-6 hours a day, but its not like I'm doing a damn thing with my time, so I think I should still be reaching for 8hours+. Unfortunately classes start soon but I will still put in atleast 30+ hours a week. Fuck social life until I can make some money, honestly..

GARPH LOL ~! Heater~

Thx Lee! by gororokgororok, January 02

So I mailed stars about coming short to supernova.

Dear Scotty,

I would mail you back on jan 1. So I do. I was stuck at around 6,8k vpp.
Tried everything to get it, got more than 35k vpp in december but I failed
by a bit in the end. Is there some way that I can have a few extra days to
get the supernova status? Normally getting supernova isn't a problem but I
only started playing on pokerstars in august, since then I was sold and
only play on Stars. I haven't played today since it's newyear and like
everyone i'm a bit hungover. 3 extra days would do the job no problem.
Anyhow thanks in advance whatever the outcome may be.

Yours truly,
Marco van Veldhuizen

Got this back.

Hello Marco,

Here is what we can offer. Earn 100,000 VPPs in 2009 and we'll credit your
account 100,000 FPPs. Thank you for playing on PokerStars.

1. gotta get better in 3bet pots

2. i also see my biggest leak:

i call someone justifying it as he can be bluffing or valuebetting something worse ( when it's unlikely ) , it's like i want to call and make up reasons to do it, my mind is set up and i just make excuses
