Also FTP seems a lot tougher than stars Nl100 HU

I ve played only 1 bump so far ...
rest were medicore regulars , who had some leaks but did know about basic things liek value bets and pot control and semi bluffing.

opposed ´to stars where 50% of the players u play are dumb bums who dont even know what value bet is

2008 was basically a year off poker for me, only played about 80-100k hands so nothing really to say about it. I've decided to stop slacking and start taking poker seriously again, to get back on track I decided to do a profit sharing deal w/ Jamie over december, which went well coaching wise and I definately think I'm on good way back in to the game, but profit wise it was a disaster - ran like shit.

However I'll grind out midstakes (starting w/ 2/4) w/ a 25bi rule and I'll hopefully be at 3/6 again in a near future. I'll also try and sattelite myself into some ept events on stars, almost got my ass to bahamas but didnt really get there since I ended up third in a step 6 sng.

Got myself a new nice grind setup for the upcoming grindaments in 2009. Two 22" 1600x1000 lcds, might not be the best for poker but whatever, im used to a 15" laptop so anything is an upgrade.

Ok so im used to live games but im planning to start playing online seriously for the first time, starting with microlimits $0.01/0.02 obviously. Im looking for some advice and general tips on what i should be doing, not so much playwise, but in other areas.

Ive got PokerStars and have played a few play money hands to get used to the software. Ive heard this is the best room in terms of software 'fairness' etc. I set my avatar as a LP one but its not coming up even though i have Show Avatars checked. any ideas?

Ive got PT3, just looking for some ideas as to a good set-up. currently i have:
Name (useless), hands
vpip, pfr, 3bet%
Flop Aggression, Turn Aggression, River Aggression.

is this ok? should i add anything else?

Finally, do you have any recommendations on 6max vs 9?

God I run so fucking bad, I am tilted too and not playing good, but I keep playing and will keep playing. I Get sucked out all the time, or I have the worst hand and never suck out, IT SUCKS A LOT. I also get called ton when I have good hands and miss. All my draw miss, all their draw it. It's basically standard for me by now, big dif is I tilted a lot of money and I am pretty much cancellign all my activity until I can get rewin what I lost, so I'm gonna have to regrind in a bad mood for like two weeks. Arrrrrk

so i had decided to spend 2009 playing mtts more consistently. it has been a good month so far. just took down the 50r on tilt for $5700 nutshot came in 3rd he played good just i ran like god. if anyone can give me advice on where to improve my mtt stratgies let me know, id appreciate it. also credit goes to my donkey friend andrew song for making me playing the way i do. hopefully i continue to ship a few more in the next few weeks.

Yo.

I guess most of you have seen me post around in lowstakes or seen some of my uploaded hands. I have ONE big massive problem/leak in my game and I need help/advice to wipe it clean.... I sound like a clown posting this but I won't to improve it and its holding me back A LOT.

Ive been playing poker now since late August 08 and my current bankroll is $84.14 My story.

I started grinding 2/5/10/25nl quite succesfully, I turned my bankroll from $40 into $1120 by mid november and I was playing 50nl then all of sudden my poker world turned up side down and I haven't been able to cure it since. I went on sick downswing, from $1120 to around $700, playing 50nl until I dropped out, then sprialled down in 25nl and was on sick tilt and couldn't snap out of it. I ended up withdrawing my roll of around $700 and thought to myself, chill, watever $700.

I stopped playing poker, 1week later, I got staked with $20 to rebuild... which I did, I regrinded to around $440, ran bad, tilt kicked in, dropped down to $280ish, withdrew it in mad rage and stopped playing again. (leaving $20 in my account)

Around mid december, I got the feelings again, loaded up pt3/stars and started playing again, turned $20 into around $290, ran bad, sick tilted, withdrew again.

January 5th, I think to myself, OK. New year, I think I want to try and get back to where I have been in the past, ive railed 25nl/50nl regs and even give my advice and it works out quite sick good and stuff, but iam stuck in micro limits... I tried to grind again..... I got staked $20 from 50nl reg and he told me not to "withdraw again you fucking degen" kekekeekeke. I turned $20 into $200 in 4days playing 2/5nl, I go into 10nl, ACTUALLY run bad and drop down to $150, iam on tilt, I lose few more buyins in 5nl, I ship back the staker $40 for his troubles and now I am sat with $84.14. I haven't withdrew it

Iam a sick degen and need disclipine and help with running bad which tilts me so easily, its my biggest leak. I think I am comfortable to say that I have the skills and knowledge to do well, but tilting is destroying my game.

Here is my december/january life story, please leave any feedback, advice that could help me out, or just leave a comment saying quit poker -.-

Life hasnt been the best so far. My class schedule sucks a major dick, 8am classes everyday. I put 200 dollars on cake Poker and the software tilted me so hard that i went on to lose it all. Im wating on my self-exclusion to end on FTP (I did it because i was tired of poker so i did 30days). I really think i can get back onto the grind and make some money.

On a side note, I have been talking to this girl Monica, and she is a hottie. We're going on a date tonight which is hopefully going to be awsome. Going to this restaurant called Town, its like 100 bucks a person but its w.e. The thing that has really been fucking around with my brain lately is what i want to do with my future. I know college is where you are supposed to find out what you want to be but, i dont know. Ive always wanted to go into investment banking and now thats in the shitter, so its looking like law school. I decieded to go to NC State and not UNC which looking back is a FUCKING MAJOR MISTAKE.

I want to transfer to UNC but dont feel like starting all fucking over again. But my parents are and especially my sisters are on my ass about going to UNC. BUT fuck, i dont feel like starting over again, making new friends etc. Everyone says making new friends is easy, which is true, but Ive grown accustomed to my life style here so Im just really confused now. But fuck it, im healthy...family healthy...i guess thats all that really matters anyways. Sorry for the rant and bullshit in this blog...GOD FML

I skipped a lecture to play poker and lost like 6bi to some random tagfish at 5/10 HU. Lesson is; stay in school boys.

Also. The fact that the early bird catches the worm is nothing but proof that the worm should have stayed in bed.

I'm still up a fair bit in January but I hate losing sessions. Might just do other stuff/grind 1/2 or something a couple of days unless I feel like playing. Saturday night sounds a bit to juice not to play though.

Lady Fortuna is annoying, but she's addictive as hell. And overall she's good to me so I can't complain really. The fact that this annoys me only shows that I'm a complex person.

in the history of 1/2?

lol prob not but it was the most entertaining table i've ever played in the few hundred k hands i've played in my entire poker experience.

anyways, i'll start off with the end. i was sitting with $3200 when i got up. 16 fucking buyins WTF?!?!

after i got kicked out of my house, i went straight over to my degen friend's house and spent the night there, because he and i were planning to go down to new orleans to play at the casino there. but when i found out that there was a WPT event going on at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi, and that one of my chinese friends had driven over there to play the cash games vs. tourney donks, we thought'd it be better if we played there instead. after all, i only had 1.5 buyins lol and needed him to stake me.

i wrote a long post but decided it was all very boring so i'll just pick out some interesting facts:

i lost the 300 i brought, lost my friend's 200, lost another 100 and was sitting with 100 dollars, miserable as hell.

ground that up a little back to 200 when i found AA in the SB. some nit in the CO raised to 24 vs. a weak passive fish and i flatted from the sb. fish folded and the flop came A74r. i had been actively donkleading earlier so i lead again for 50 dollars and he insta shoved all in with AK and that was the first big pot of the night.

the next big pot was when i had JJ on the button and UTG (this guy is the KEY CHARACTER that changed the dynamics at the table and turned EVERYONE at the table into psycho maniacs) raised to 10. i 4x'd his raise and snap called his shove for 100bbs. the board came out low and i scooped the pot. he had AK. funny thing is, the dealer had flipped an ace while dealing out the hole cards and UTG STILL pushed all-in with his AK anyways. wtf? HAHA

mike sat to my right and the first sick hand of the night happened. he held AA and opened for a standard raise of 20 dollars or 10bb lol. the monkey with the AK in the previous hand is in the BB and calls. flop comes TJQ. BB checks, mike bets 30, BB insta.. i mean INSTA fucking raises to 100. mike shoves, BB SNAP calls. turn is a J, river is a K, giving mike a straight. BB flips over T4dd for the funniest 300bb pot ever.

that was an important hand because BB went the most epic king kong monkey tilt i've ever seen and it was INFECTIOUS. the WHOLE FUCKING table started throwing money EVERYWHERE because of that one guy. WOW.

after he lost that hand, he bought in for 150bbs and proceeded to open raise to 14bbs EVERY SINGLE HAND for the next 8 or so hands. and he just absolutely DEMOLISHED the table with the most monstrous luck i've ever seen. he stacked mike with Qd4c vs. mike's 44 on a T7Q4K board when the 4th club came on the river. obv the 200bb stacks went in on the turn lol.

after he won that hand, he just went apeshit and started 3betting/calling 4bets with absolute trash. everyone was SHOCKED when he folded, which happened like once.

anyways, on to a key hand. i picked up 77 on the hijack and limped it in. king kong raises to 17 from the SB and i called. he was sitting with ~350bbs and i covered. DING DING DING flop came 873r and he cbet some random ass number like 53 (into a 34 dollar pot lol). i called with apparent hesitation. turn came a 6 and he bet 76 which i also smooth called. river came a six and he bet some random ass figure again like 153 and i thought for a bit, picked up the 10 hundred dollar bills from my stack (oh, they let us use the hundred dollar bills on the table) and never felt more sick as i pushed him all in for 200bbs more. he announced that he had a 6 like he was the shit of the world and SNAP CALLED with K6s. so that was a nice little 700bb pot for me.

maybe like 30 mins later, he took his freshly bought 400 and built it up to 800 MASSIVELY sucking out on AK with K3, K on flop, both hands all in on the turn for 200bbs and he binked a 3 on the river. by this time, everyone at the table had adjusted and tpgk became the immortal nuts on the flop for shoving 200bbs in. 3 betting was done every other hand and multiway 3bet pots happened EACH TIME because everyone was so eager to flop top pair so they can win multiple buyins. i was straddling every BB and told mike to do so as well since being last to act preflop gave you a HUGE edge. plus, straddling had a sort of a mulitplier effect on the level of preflop spew that you'd see at the table so that worked out well.

second big hand of the night. i limped A7dd and king kong raised again from the SB and i flatted. flop came 843dd and he lead smallish... like pot. turn came 8d and he barrelled for like halfpot and i raised for a hundred more. the guy IMMEDIATELY roars out ALL IN for 600 hundred dollars more and i don't think i've EVER called a 2x pot shove for 400bbs deep faster. hell i'm not sure whether he shoved all in first or i called first. he announces, DIAMONDSSSS and flips over KJdd. lol pretty sick set up for an 900bbs pot right there, yay.

and most other hands were pretty uninteresting after that. for example, i opened AQ ep to 26 and i got 3bet to 126 vs. someone who was tilting just as much as the king kong himself. he was sitting 300bbs deep. i called oop with AQo in a hugely bloated pot since flopping any A or Q means im shipping it in for tons more and getting called. i run good at life and flop a Q and he bet out 200, after which i shipped it in for 300 more, but he folded =/

mike and i cashed out around 5k that night from that one 1/2 table. eariler that night, he turned 10 dollars at the slot machine into 80 by hitting triple 7s. we took that money, went to the blackjack table and turned it into 200 in 5 mins. he went to cash that out when i stopped him and said, "dude let's go flip for a hundred at the roulette table". the cashier told us to bet it on black, so we did and won it. we then took another hundred and bet it on red, and we won that too. $10 into $400 in 10 minuites, sick. we tipped the cashier, the roulette dealer and the floorman and got back to our hotel room and ordered steak and eggs which was fucking delicious.

oh and i almost forgot... the chinese friend got egged on by this black guy to flip with him with hole cards only and lost three in a row to J hi, 44, and Ace high for 6k. LOL chinese people are fucking crazy.

well that was a fun night. i can go back to new orleans till school starts on tuesday and play with a pretty comfortable roll for a little while.

heh. i don't mean to advertise myself as a stupid douchebag microstakes grinder who smelled green for the first time in his life, but i just wanted to show you guys some proof of this most epic night in my poker career thus far:

Well I am obviously on some kind of heater here, lol. I'm also running 2BI over expectation, but my overall EV for 23k hands here is dead nuts even.

7BB/100 over the past 8k hands has totally recovered me from my downswing, plus a little more. I am definitely playing much better. Everything seems much clearer, pokerwise, and I think I have a very very high chance of being a reg at nl50 by Feb. 1st.

A couple of months from now I hope to be a shining example of a good reason not to give up on poker(or anything?) just because you get stuck at a limit for a while. I was at nl10 for 4 months for god's sake. I won't ever return unless something dire happens

Hey guys hows it going, this is my first blog entry so I guess ill do the boring obvious and tell you guys a little bit about myself. Im from canada and have just recently finished highschool. Ive been playing poker on and off for around 3 years with a mix of online and a little live play for fun at friends houses. I guess im at the point in my life where Im trying to decide what to do with myself. At the moment im considering law school to become some sort of lawyer (im not of sure wich) Family,realestate and criminal are my first choices. Becoming a Trades guy is something I might also do, possibly an electrician or plumber, they all make good money 100k+ a year and im a really active person so I think its a good fit into my lifestyle. I've just recently given up hockey, wich I was playing semi-pro in the WHL (other Candians will know what that is maybe some US) .


As Far as poker goes, im starting to take it alot more serious playing as much as possible. I wouldnt really say im trying to become a sick 25/50 reg on stars but if I can grind myself into nl200 and become a consitant winner I would be really content with that. However, anything can happen but for now im just gonna do my best and take it 1 limit at a time.
