| | finally beating NL50 by hownorez, January 17
When I was creating my blog i thought that i will post like every week. But it didnt happen cause i have a lot of school stuff and to be honest... i was lazy too.
Anyway I hope i will manage to update my blog atleast twice a week now. As i said ive started to play NL50 at ExpektPOker(Ipoker site) again. I saw some good videos Nl50 NL100 6max at Ballerpoker which were really good and I became aware of some leaks in my game.
Today i had a hot run. Im 3-4 tabling usually and I managed to win almost 6bi!
I would appreciate if told me if my SD a NON SD winning are okay or what souhld I do to improve my game.
If you got like pocket 55s and raise and some one who has like 13/13 ( i dont rememeber i what AG factor he had but lets say like 2) 4-bet your 3-bet on him. So action is : he raises 1,75 from dealer or cutoff, I reraise 6,5$(is that good or I should just call) and he 4-bet to 13$ whi is lol - so what should I do ?

Sup dudes.
as most of you may well know, I have an FUCKING BROKEN a KEY COPY PaSTE aDSKHFJSDKFaDJF
goal to have double blonded threesomes. When that day comes, I will be ready, to set higher, more extravagant <----3 fucking "a"s goals. But, we first take baby steps. and I start from the beginning by taking a theological approach to "pickup", and experimentation.
I see this as a righteous challenge as a person who didn't "get it" as quickly as other people (thats always been typical of me).
With some time, patience, and most of all dedication, who knows. I just might post a mother fucking porno by the end of this year.
I plan to include some pics with chix as soon as I am competent enough to grab a snapshot with them lol. Estimate that time to be around march. I've already got some posts going so well, here goes nothin!

| | So it goes. by Motiva, January 17
Well to continue from yesterday lets just say it's time to take a small break. I logged on this evening looking forward to cleaning some fish and to turn this downswing around. First orbit my KK gets owned by AA and I go on hyper-tilt. Here we are several hours later and i'm down far more than I thought possible. I don't understand what I've changed. Sure a few bad beats and some retarded tilt have played there parts, but the only real excuse is bad play and poor BR management.
I've been a bit too agressive with my bankroll. I started with only $2 on cake and their smallest NL stake is NL4 so I started by playing that and working my way up to roughly ~50 and then I took a couple of shots at NL10, and then at ~150 I started taking shots at NL20. This was all working very well over a good 5-7k hands, and then at 300 I decided I might as well take a shot at NL50, and lets just say that was a massive mistake. After that failed shot I went back to playing NL20 on a ~200 bank roll and failed some more. Then around ~100 I started playing NL 10... ~40 @ NL4. ect all the way back down to where I started at $2. lol FML I fail at BR Management. Sure, I've come leagues in terms of understanding the game and playing at the table, but I still struggle with BR management, though I'm learning my lesson time and time again.
I understand my mistake there and I certainly resolve to continue my battle with my demons of tilt. The one thing I don't understand is WTF went wrong? How did I go from consistently beating the stakes one night with my showdown winnings up, and nonshowdown winnings going down. The next day, I wake up take a shot fail and from there on out showdown winnings go down fast as fuck while my nonshowdown winnings creep into the positive? I guess I'm trying to figure out if this is some sort of life-tilt where I'm just being too aggressive and so when there is fold equity I get it, and the when I'm beat i get stacked... tis how it's been going pretty much. If I've got the best hand everyone folds, if i've got 2nd best i get slowplayed and stacked cause Im fucking tilted? I guess if it was easy to figure out what you're doing wrong then poker wouldn't be so difficult.
In short. I'm a fool for being too aggressive with my BR and also for not taking at least a days break after being so fucking tilted. I'm gonna wait a week maybe two and then start over. Time to play some SC and Quakelive I guess =- Anyone got any good books to recommend on poker? I've read most of them, but I love to read and I'm going to have some free time now haha.

| | birthdays and workout by remember87, January 17
Yeay! I´ve never been this old before 22.. legally nothing happens in Sweden but I´m happy to be just one year older!
I will be going home to my family tonight and celebrate. Guess I will be sleeping over too becuase my mother turns 50 tomorrow. Think this will be a great weekend!
Before that though, I will for the first time ever, be going to work out on my birthday. I had a bet with a couple of friends that we´d work out 3 times every week and if we didnt do that we´d have to pay 100SEK to a pot for every time we miss one. Since I had to go to Stockholm yesterday to buy my mother a present I will have to do it today instead. I could just pay up but its kinda embarrassing to have to pay the very first week so I´d rather do the workout.
So whats the cause of this pot we are building? In the end of May we´ll be playing Yahtzee for it So if I´m too lazy this term I´d just have to run well and take back my money - easy as pie!
Cheers!

| | from the depths of hell by Zalfor, January 17
Well, today i started off with less than $30 in my bankroll.
How did this happen you ask?
Poor Bankroll management? Yes.
Mad Tilt? Yes.
Bad Beats? No. No such thing.
Thus, my journey of being up $500 and taking shots at nl25 were reduced to being underrolled for nl2.
How did this happen? what about the $200 in bonuses that I recieved from all those Bonuses?
Well, it all started off with a nl25 session that i went -10BI from my bad plays. Went from $600->$300 in my BR.
Thats not so bad right? I still had like $300 and $125 in bonuses. However, what happened next was horrible.
I played heads up. (nl50). Deeply underrolled i figured i could beat someone with some headsup prowess. Little did i know, i would lose every single hand in that headsup game. Some might call it bad beats, but i guess 70% and 80% chances to win are never enough with a small bankroll.
Thus, i ended up with $150 in my Bankroll.
So now what? With $150 in my bankroll, i firmed up, and cleared my bonuses in nl10. I ran decent, and was able to replenish my BR to $300.
But how did i end up at $100 now you ask?
Bad bankroll management.
After hitting $300 again, I played various games, nl25 ( a few shots), badugi, stud, with razz being the only game i actually earned money in. I lost every single MTT i played, never got in the money, and went on a horrible streak in nl10.
So that left me with $100 the day before yesterday.
I figured, hell, i can grind this back up in nl10, i did it before!
And then, i get slaughtered and end up losing at nl5, eventually landing at a sub $30 bankroll.
I said fuck it, I'll try my best again and grind back up from the bottom. I started playing HUSnGs last night, and found that my heads up "skill" proved a little successful. so i regrinded and grinded and grinded.
So today, after degenerately playing 6s HUSnGs, i am back to my $100 bankroll. A far cry yes from my glory days, but how can i complain? I went on a huge streak like 10 wins in a row in HUSnGs, and found a fun yet rewarding activity.
From here my goals are:
Grind HUSnGs and nl10 until i hit my $500 BR -> nl25 -> $2000 BR -> nl50 HU.
immediate goals:
grind back to $200, and actually be rolled for nl10.
quit tilting and playing like a noob.
learn how to play 6max poker...
learn how to play HU
Well...it's time to get back on the proverbial horse.

| | [NL10] Day 5 by Uptown, January 17
Another short session. I want to start 3 betting light on good TAGgy players from the BU when they open from CO, but didn't really have the opportunity since I only plaeyd a loltastic 154 hands. PT3 started bugging out and not giving me proper HUD stats on new tables, so I decided to quit when I felt it kind of getting to my concentration.
I have to give a shoutout to Edjon for this thread, whamm! for this reply and Spor for this thread, which is making me more conscious of when to play and when not to play.
Stats:
hours: 0.63
hands: 154
BB/100: 50.97
19.5/14.3/1.86
35%ST
Not nearly as epic as Neilly's 180BB/100 though haha~ (link)

| | I'm moving to FTP :) by vlseph, January 17
I got rakeback on FTP now so I am taking out my Stars $1000 and putting it on FTP.
I will probably grind about 10 buy-ins at NL25 and then move to NL50 there.
Shame I don't get the deposit bonus, I wasted it really early when I was into poker on a $50 deposit, but oh well...
anyone know a nice skin for FTP?

Do you ever log on for a session and 20-30 minutes into it you're just like, "Wtf am I doing.. I'm spewing like every other hand.." Your thought processes just don't seem to be 'good' at the moment? Really weird
Sigh, I've self-owned 2BI in 30 minutes so I think I should probably just kill myself/stop playing.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/498dbde52a69fe46079332d62b440e95.png
still playing super tight for 6max, PT says i'm running 15/12. most of my big loses comes from my inability to fold AKs preflop because i'm usually up against KK or AA. i'm also surprized i'm in the positive for my Big blind, although i doubt it's gonna stay like that
still hoping to hit 1k by the end of the month. actually i WOULD be at 1k since i made a bunch at the casino the other day, and since my BR is 650 it'd boost my BR to about 1020 or so.
now that i think about it, i'm probably gonna deposit some of those winnings so i can move up to nl50 faster, although i think i should play 20k hands at nl25 first.
ALSO, got this unballer leather office chair for $60. not much but it was like half off and i dont need a 500 dollar chair o_O;;
ONE LAST THING - with the release of Street fighter IV coming out next month, i'm thinking of building another stick:
heres my first one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/mikefrom707/helladope.jpg
it's for PS2 and since i ps3 can't use ps2 controllers, i need to make a whole new one. but the one i'm thinking of will be a japanese style stick (pictures above is the american style) and will probably look sorta like this:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll...ticks/puppetchow%20Stick/IMG_1143.jpg
clear buttons, white box, bubbletop. the difference between the japanese and american sticks is that the balltop sticks are smaller compared to the baseball bat style american sticks, also the buttons look and feel a shitload better.
enough of the non poker stuff though - here's since the next year:

got pretty drunk last night at karaoke night, ended up singing Shakira(that hip song) with 2 other hooligans at the bar, and I'm pretty sure we no longer are ever allowed to sing again. 12 shots of makers after, i had some thoughts about one particular patron.......
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/1a0762121f186451c108037768b6f191.jpg
.........he is totally pathetic and 36 years old. everyone hates him cuz he is a totally depressing when he's drunk and constantly tells me he was hitler in the past lifetime(and that i was probably himler..WTF!!) and that he has the worst luck cuz of this. he also knows i play poker for a living and he is constantly griping about his terrible luck in poker(the best part is that he only plays freerolls), the last thing i need after a negative 4k day. but i gotta be honest with you.........he is probably the most stand up guy in the whole friggin bar. thought it was funny that of all the people ive met in the last few years......
the types i run into most frequently
-psuedo intelligent girl/guy who nod too frequently when you're talking and uses lines frequently like "here is my philsophical view.........". they over romaticize obama's presidency and seem so irate about people who are republican. there biggest tendency is to make themselves seem above the status quo. YUCK YUCK YUCK BY FAR MY LEAST FAVORITE.
-the ugly duckling, unfortunately so many people fall in this type. i meet these types far more often than any other types. the ones that develop into better looking people than the ones they once were. vanity is always an issue with these people because of there late blossoming, maturity comes a lot slower and painful. they have severe self esteem issues, but have a great gift in empathizing with others' problems, for they can relate greatly with alot of issues, but dont trust or have too much expecation out of them, they can be great useful friends but they need to satisfy/resolve there selfish needs and problems before they can fully give themselves to you as a friend. for guys, he'll totally ditch u for a girl, but ull still probably get a wedding invite. girls........watch out they wont hesitate to sacrifice friendship to steal your man(dont expect wedding invite)
-the always been hot type.......its like the rich get richer story. you dont even have to be all that good looking to even be in this category. they have high self esteem and have most of the petty bullshit in there life resolved. these people usually dont understand many of the struggles the average person goes through and people are naturally drawn to them(if you're thinking about the hot girl/guy that are always bitches/asshole, they most likely are in the category above). they are the 5 percentile that the rest of the 95 percent want to be with. there lack of baggage makes them already more appealing than they are, no one wants to hang out with depressing people.
-the "i care too much about making sure that everyone knows i dont care at all" type. usually the syndrome starts with them getting fucked over really bad by an ex love. there really fun to hang out usually but its really hard to get close to them due to the thick wall they put up. THEY TOTALLY OVERATE THERE CHILDHOOD(more than any others)
anyways i just found it ironic that of all the people ive met, i found the best virtues in a bald 36 year old single man (who smells like poon funk cuz dont think he soaps when he showers) who is pathetic and self destructive.
im reading this over and im like woah, intense, as i could probably put myself in every single category at one point my life. i know i say "types" but i actually see people in phases, i know the middle two categories are based on looks but it actually is in relevance to there social environment and how THEY percieve themselves. i believe everyone goes through phases in there lives, and this does not decide the character of person you are. i have great deal of faith in humanity, but am a realist also. one of the best lines i heard recently..........I believe most people have good intentions but stupid actions - so I trust nobody including myself!
how this relates to poker......well like in life/poker we all go through phases in our game. the only person that can REALLY help you is yourself. there's nothing we can do about the runner runners we cant seem to ever dodge, or the miracle 1 outer on the river. don't set yourself up to lost or it becomes the inevitable. DONT BE A LEMON!
(Two for the Money)Walter Abrams played by Pacino
You're a lemon. Like a bad car. There is something... there is something inherently defective in you, and you, and you, and me, and all of us. We're all lemons. We look like everyone else, but what makes us different is our defect. See, most gamblers, when they go to gamble, they go to win. When we go to gamble, we go to lose. Subconsciously. Me, I never feel better than when they're raking the chips away; not bringing them in. And everyone here knows what I'm talking about. Hell, even when we win it's just a matter of time before we give it all back. But when we lose, that's another story. When we lose, and I'm talking about the kind of loss that makes your asshole pucker to the size of a decimal point - you know what I mean - You've just recreated the worst possible nightmare this side of malignant cancer, for the twentieth goddamn time; and you're standing there and you suddenly realise, Hey, I'm still... here. I'm still breathing. I'm still alive. Us lemons, we fuck shit up all the time on purpose. Because we constantly need to remind ourselves we're alive. Gambling's not your problem. It's this fucked up need to feel something. To convince yourself you exist. That's the problem.

| | Sick and tired of this game by Newblish, January 16
This is me needing to let of some steam, if you dont want to read it then leave.
So basically i think this game is a pile of shit, that or i am destined to have horrible luck and fail at it. Seems every fucking time i get my money in good i end up losing every single fucking pot i play. I decided to leave playersonly and return to FTP playing nl50 again, the first session i go back i try to take it easy playing nl25 to get back in the groove and these two hands happen :
1.
I have QQ flop a set, he calls two streets on me with a horrible flush draw and hits river after min raising me oop on the turn for some reason(i shoved) and stacks me. - bi
2. I flop a set, guy checks to me i bet he raises i shove he calls and hits nut flush draw on river - bi
so i was down a little, whatever.. wasnt a big deal since it wasnt nl50, so just now i sit down and well... what the fuck do you know.. full tilt poker has a surprise for me
1. guy raises mp with q4 suited(yes you read that right), 1 calls i call button with AJ. Flop AJ10 both check i bet, Q4 shoves(yes you saw that right too). turn K...... - bi
2. guy raises utg with 33, he was midstacked, another calls, i iso button with AK suited by squeezing. Flop A37, he checks i put him all in, - .75 Bi
3. ALl folds to guy on button with 98, he raises, SB folds i 3bet with KQ suited. Flop Q69, i cbet he shoves..... i snap, turn is a fucking 9. - bi
so all i can say is fuck poker, all i do is own the fucking shit out of these horrible players yet they still win anyway, it seems that no matter how much time in vest in this piece of shit game i am bound to just lose any earnings to constant horseshit time and time again. I believe in my heart that without a doubt luck owns skill at this point, over the long run too.. ive progressed, inched close to nl100 but ive been slowed down constantly by the same old motherfucking suckouts time and time again.
I just cant stand it anymore, i dont really even like poker at this point.. its just not fun losing when youre better than the entire table and they pull magic tricks out of the bullshit hat every single pot.
/rant over. Probably going to take literally an entire month off of this stupid game and waste my time some other way

| | $2.05, BALLA? by NeillyJQ, January 16
Lol, so I promised to post this no matter how embarassing or how how good it is, so heres the dirt!
Lifetime graph (idk if its true lifetime since i let it run overnight and PT3 was frozen when I woke up, but I assume 500k hands is roughly right for PS NLHE)
Best Graph! (obviously I demolished these limits when I was first taking shots at them lol) - at one point in 07 i lost around 7k at nl100, so -3k isn't too bad
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/e697fe3c8714b52428144ad5cd5a6b24.jpg
And the Vice-Versa
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/9fa76f3f88998e2e7385639694f3f460.jpg
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/b2c94b4375f0ae8cfbbbb4e4f4f532d9.jpg
(I haven't touched a lot of the most profitable games for myself in over a year because of HU and MTT'ing, alot of the stats for limits are from the first time i was working up the limits on stars (ie NL100 FR - i haven't played 1 hand of nl100 fr after my first run up the cashgame ladder))
So the obvious lesson here is br management, which I'm already addressing, pretty ridiculous to be a $2 winner in a couple years of playing on cash on stars, thats kinda mind-boggling to me, guess the tournament winnings are what was making me think I was up more than I was itlr, but still, 9k in 2 years is really bad...
Also, I've had the most success at 1/2 FR which is a plateau that I'd be extremely happy to reach and grind out itlr, the sample size is fairly small, but I know I can win there consistently throughout 2009, but hopefully make it to NL400 or so after that
This is a good reality check for me, ty k204 for getting me to get my HH's
and last but not least
LIFETIME GRAPH - for all the lifetime redline winners, now I just gotta get my green up some
(you can spot where I lost 10k in 30 hands and when I was playing different limits if you look close enough and have somewhat of a history of when I was playing here and there)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/035926f1a723f7fdde75edcbfdfa0ebf.jpg
So, I'm up like $9,277 in two years of playing, averaging playing cashgames one out of two days and spending some times on tournaments
So after a couple years, I've just about broke even because my NL5K endeavors and NL1-2K endevours, etc, man if I wiped out those top 4 losing limits which I was always not rolled for, I'd be up 20k and who knows where I woulda took it, its ok though, I found the majority of my profitablility from FR and low limit HU, although I don't think I'll be playing much HU, I'll be playing a ton of FR and 6max
a lesson there as well, just sticking to br management, playing mostly fr/6max should get me back to low-mid limits in the next couple months, then IF/WHEN I play HU or Omaha, I will always play 1+ limits BELOW my regular limit, not above like the past
OK everyone, laugh all you want, I know its pretty pathetic, but I degened off a ton of money in the past, something I intend on never doing again, and theres no reason to not be honest with myself and the community, so here it is.
GL LP,
Ryan

Ahh set up after set up after set up!!!! Followed by a cooler and then another set up.
wowowowowowoowowowwoow
that was the most painful session I've had in forever. should have quit sooner. but I kept going "wtf setup, don't have to quit" but by the end I was tilty. And if I'd quit I'd be down 2-3 buyins and feel bad but go "oh well" but noooooooo, tried to power through and now I'm down 10 BI and ready to smash every wall I can find.
I think even if you're playing well, if you're getting raped by setups and shit it's better to quit for the happiness EV.
S:dfljas;dlfkj;asldfkj;alsdjf
Of course it's always like this on weekends or holidays - when you get on with high expectations to find fish and make monies you get set up and coolered to death. Or at least I do.

| | A long introduction... by Chewits, January 16
Hi all,
Been lurking these forums for a while now, and its about time I started posting. A word of warning, this is quite long, and I hope I do not bore too many of you. I just feel its appropiate to tell you where my angle is from, before posting more here.
I post under teamliquid.net forums as Chewits. Started playing Starcraft around 1999-2000, and under many many names. I am sure I know quite a few players from way back "in the day" when we are all kids, in our little clans I definitely know a few faces that post here. Was in Kets clan waaaaaaaaay back, as VdP]Calipso, and before that, in the one clan (the_acid_one). Guess these two are the most used nicks from the old days. Was quite a surprise to hear that Ket is doing really well in Poker. Fair play to you. Didn't think you would be playing poker when we were playing Starcraft... Congratz.
Anyway, I don't actually play Starcraft anymore, mainly because the game looks so shit on my huge iMac screen lol. (640x480 stretched to 1620x1050 is not pretty) and I had grown bored of the game, like all of us at some point, searched for something new. I found DotA, which I still play, and enjoy.
Amongst all this, i discovered poker. My first encounter would have been Late NIght Poker on Channel 4. I used to stay up late to watch it, and was fascinated by it. Of course, I had no real idea of how to play it, I knew the basics of what hands beat what, but that was about it. Did not actually play it untill around 2 years ago, when i put minimum deposit on to pacificpoker.com and lost it of course, cuz I really wasnt sure what I was doing lol. I bought some cheap poker book that taught you the basics and I wanted to improve. Then after sometime, i put some money back on pacific and started playing really cheap cheap sit n go's, to learn the game better.
I did not take it too serious, nor the learning part. I just played casually with no control or management over my bankroll. I had no idea what a bankroll was back then, i just gambled. THen last year, I started getting quite decent (I thought), and played cash games. I actually got up to 50NL but with a crazy 10-15 buyin bankroll (like I said, it was a rush lol). I was doing good, and winning. I felt like the best poker player in the world. Then i lost some mega hands, and i tilted so hard. I lost all of it in one night. All the money I worked to build up for the past couple months, was tilted away. God it felt sick. It tilted me so much, I vowed never to play Poker ever again.
About 6 months later, I started watching poker again on TV and stuff, and was getting the bug, but was having battles in my conscious wether to actually start playing again. Then few of my mates, got a small home game setup, with 4-6 people. Just a cheapo tourney for like £10, and it started to become a weekly thing. It was really good fun with some mates, some drinks and its all good craic! Anyway, I won some tourneys and was always in the top 3. Never busting out first. It got me some confidence back, and it got my love back for the game. I put some money onto FTP, and started playing again. I won some really nice 90 and 180man tourneys. But as before, I did not really take it serious, just played it for fun, only depositing the minimum. And I cashed out my tournament winnings right away, which went straight towards holiday.
After frittering away my initial deposit on some tourneys, I decided i should start playing a little more serious, and with more of a management, specifically on a bankroll. Because up untill now, I had not been doing this properly. My friend said that PokerStars was relatively soft at micro limits, which is where I wanted to start, to make sure I am playing correct. So i deposited $200 on there, and that is where I am at now. Grinding the 0.05/0.1 tables. I feel I could start at the next level up (i could have the bankroll nps) but I really dont want to jump into the middle.
So here is my simple short term goal. To make enough $$$ to have a solid enough bankroll for the next level. I dont know how long it will take, but it will take as long as it needs to.
Two big rules that I must stick to;
1) Stick to 0.05/0.1 cash tables ONLY. No tournaments
2) Only play when I am mentally fit and awake, not after a long hard day of a mind fuck in work
Why no tournaments? Because its a different play style, and I feel you cannot play productively at cash tables while involved in a tournament. I feel with enough discipline and focus, I can do honestly do this. I really have never been so focused like this in a long while, and really am enjoying it.
This blog, is to keep progress of my personal challenge. Im not fussed if no one reads it, its more important for me to keep a track record of it.
I only play 2-3 tables at the moment, but I am aiming to increase the table amounts, as confidence increases. So far though, it has been going good.

Blue = Total Winnings
Orange = Total winnings without showdown
I play on a Mac, so the pokertrackers are not quite as advanced as some of the ones for PC.

| | Most annoying -1bi session ever by edzwoo, January 16
So I usually play like 1000-1500 hand sessions, and my best session so far is about +5bi.
I loaded up a bunch of tables and decided to get the gyst of mass 20-24 tabling. I table selected really well for the large amount, and was having a hot session. I was over 6bi and was sure I'd have my biggest winning session ever. I was also all excited because my roll is just about large enough to tackle NL100 again, and I only need like 3bi more for my own bankroll guidelines.

So I know this is pretty bland since everyone has their epic one billion dollar losing sessions and I barely lost any money, so I'll use pictures to explain how I feel instead.
