I've been playing the $1.20 9-man S&G's, and a lot of them.
From everyone I've talked to I heard that the $1.20 games are supposed to be super easy. People are really aggressive, playing for stacks with mediocre hands, and are just bad players in general. Well, from the videos I've watched from AMT, it seems like his $36 dollar games last as long as my $1 games. In the last session I played all my bubbles were 200/400 with one 300/600. And, as he put it, when the blinds are that high, it is more of a "crapshoot", and I can see why.
Why the hell is it so hard or am I hitting a bad time of the day? Is it maybe like good players just hitting the lower planets for Battle of the Planets tickets? As far as I know people say that Pokerstars S&G's are usually soft. But obviously this is not the case...
So any advice/input would be appreciated. And how do Matrix SnG's work on Full Tilt exactly?
For $1200. Respected members only or you send first; I can have a ton of people vouch for me in the latter case, just PM or request I get someone to do so.
wow its now almost 4 in the morning and i just got done playing a 7 hour straight session of heads up holdem and a lil omaha against my sisters boyfriend. We pretty much broke even which isnt a surprise because we have played each other so much; we know how each other play down to a tee. Got to get my head in the game cause my sisters 21st bday is coming up and we are all heading down to ac for some 1/2 blinds on the holdem table. Im trying to make this year a big plus on the poker tables (like everyone else) but i feel like im playin the best poker of my life
Or at least that's what someone on 2p2 says of me. Someone asked about me in the PS regulars thread:

lol. This all comes about because Maynard posted about how someone wants to HU PAV for bankrolls and linked to a 2p2 thread about PS regs. I never check 2p2 though I do have an account there, and while looking at that thread I wondered if anyone ever said anything about me on 2p2. I did a search and there were a few hits, the quoted post above which was the funniest. I think he meant crap but maybe he just thinks I'm a total crab.
So who is dstazy100 on 2p2? I guess we're semi-friends.
On a side note I watched starwars episodes 1-3 today while playing poker. 1 episode per session. What I realized is that it's really easy to play while watching episode 1 cause the entire movie sucks except for like maybe 5 minutes of it. Episode 2 is a bit more difficult cause about 50% of the movie is good and there's some good action scenes that you don't wanna miss, but the other 50% is at best "meh" which means "decent" and at other times "puke" which means "horrible" (I'm thinking of anything having to do with the horribly written love story when I say puke). But then comes Episode 3, which is impossible to watch while playing poker cause pretty much the entire movie is pure pwnage from beginning to end. I had to stop the session before the movie ended so I could properly watch the Obi-wan vs anakin and yoda vs sidius closing battles. Fucking epic end to a movie.
I've never watched episodes 1-3 in 1 day before. That was fun. Plus it worked for getting me to grind more - 5.8k hands for today =)
I woke up at first around 8am, but saw Night still sleeping so just went back to sleep. I think I noticed him get up around 9am, but I didn't care and kept sleeping lol. I ended up waking up eventually, but from the trauma from the night before, I was somewhat reluctant from hitting the tables. I probably should have just gotten up at 9am and joined Night though, in retrospect.
Instead, I stayed in the room for a bit reading A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin (awesome book omg) until one of my RL friends arrived from SFO. I texted Night telling him what was up, and that I was going to meet up with my friend Ben. I met up with him @ the Lobby of Treasure Island, where my two freinds and I would stay for the next two nights (last friend was driving from LA later in the night). We had some lunch @ the lobby cafe, discussing what we should do for the rest of the day. We decided to pay Night a visit @ the Wynn poker room (he was getting mega coolered, 2nd nut flush vs nut flush, etc), then go to the Gun Shop to shoot some goods. The Gun Shop is a total ripoff, but damn it's worth it anyways lol. AK47 is honestly boring, and the shotgun is awesome imo.
We were just talking a lot and somewhat being inefficient with time, but we had decided to save most of the exciting stuff till my last friend, Gordon, arrived. By the time we got back to the hotel it was nearly early'ish dinner time, so after we did some iphone yelping, we decided on the Wynn buffet. I knew Night was famished after sitting at the poker room for like 8 hours, so I dropped off the remnants of my lunch club sandwich and fries, which he pleasantly shot me a text msg saying tyvm , which made me happy since I was kinda unsure about giving him my leftovers.
And so we went to the Wynn buffet. Ben wanted to give playing poker a try, but I knew he had zero real experience playing the game properly, so I was protesting. In the end I looked up Tien's 6max guide on 2p2 on his iphone and told him to read it and I was explaining some basic concepts to him (position, playing tight and why, etc). Anyways we feasted on the food and generally complained about it as well (lol), finding that the quality was one notch below that of upscale restaurants, but agreed that as a buffet it was exquisite (since most buffet quality sucks or is at best marginal). We sat there for a good two hours or so, as Ben struggled to get a proper Adios Mother Fucker made for him at the bar. He ended up actually writing down the ingredients for the waiter to deliver to the bar haha.
Eventually Night joined us and we moved tables, where he explained his mega bad beat where he hit his flush on the river 3way(i think), but the dealer didn't see that the 3rd player hadn't acted and the card got burnt and shite like that. Night can explain further if he wants but basically the dealer fucked up, and Night didn't get paid off with his aggro image when he finally connected. Overall, day of bad beats for him . As we sat there eating, Corwin shot me a text message, and he told us that he'd be joining us soon too. So we ate/talked for a bit, till it was decided that we were to go the the Rhino. And so it was to be.
And so begun the epic freeroll train of the night. But debts are made to be repaid, and there will surely be a day when I'll be returning Myth, Peachy, Mannercookie the favor in the distant future.
Before we headed to the Rhino, Myth gave us a primer on how to deal with the sick stripper hustling at the club, what moves sto make when and why, etc. Without it we would be doomed, and I am grateful for his words of wisdom. In summary: "Fuck them lol!".
As we made our way in (Corwin was rightfully irked that his usual seat was already taken), we were immediately attacked by a pack of 3 girls - all scantily clad and some of them frightening in appearance. They were aggressive and out for blood. Corwin just talked to all 3 of them at once and brushed them off, noting that they came in a pack b/c their skill was low and by attacking from multiple angles and inexperienced Rhino patron would find it difficult to say 'no' properly to all three attacks. I noticed Night and Ben whispering to eachother, then about a minute later realized what they must have been talking about. The girl on the left had a hideously disfigured butt, dramatically jutting out into the space behind her like... like... an overhanging boulder on a cliff. It was epicly revolting, especially from my angle where it looked like she had a giant Lego block stuck to her ass (I had a 45degree angle, whereas Night and Ben had a 90 degree angle, where the view wasn't as disturbing but still sufficiently unnatural).
Crowin's words would ring true in my ears throughout the night - if a girl comes to you and does not start with "how are you doinggg?" or "Hi what's your name~~?" etc, then just fuck her. If they aggressively come for your dough, well fuck them. And it really was true, and after about the 3rd or 4th girl it really just became comical how bad some of the girls were and how tactless they were. On the other hand, there were some sick hustlers out there, who'd just talk with you for 20 mins then come for your money. But hey, they obviously know what they're doing and ffs damn they're experts.
We were eventually joined by Peachy and Leah (the poker conceirge girl who was blogged about in Doomer(?)'s blog). Peachy's expressions are priceless I tell you. You'd never know he's the hero he is if you didn't know of him beforehand. Peachy actually called Myth when he was right behind us, b/c Myth had told him we'd be at his 'usual seat', but we weren't .
I honestly wasn't interested in spewing money to strippers, and was content to just drink and chatter away with everyone. "The game" with desperate strippers was comical and amusing, while the conversation with the gang was always intriguing. My RL friend Gordon eventually arrived, and eventually got megadrunk lol good times. Later, the party of Mannercookie + two guys he met live - Mike (who looks identical to Daut) and his buddy Steve - arrived as well and added to the sweet, sweet choas.
I struck up a converstaion with Steve and I ended up talking to him the most throughout the night on a variety of subjects that I cannot seem to recall, ranging from poker, to college, to vegas life, career, financial stuff, etc. To be totally honest, I have to say that the converstaions I had with people was the highlight of the night, rather than the strippers. Myth was a gracious host, as I noticed that he was laying low and making the others a priority before his own exploits. Didn't really get to know Mannercookie much, so hopefully I'll have a chance to chat with him next time I drop by.
Time flies. We leave at 6:30. Myth, Peachy, Leah, Night, Me + my 2 friends head to Cafe Bellagio for breakfast. We eat, Peachy loses the credit card roulette (run good one time), and we split. I end up going to sleep around 8am, with another uncharacteristically wild day behind me.
UTG jacks raise get squeezed i shove he calls a 9d great flop for him
i thought for a while about folding ..........but i'm 90 percent sure i have him dominated my only thought here is that he's crazy enough to call with ak/aq, he had been in every other pot so if he had q's hats off to him but i cant even come close to putting him even on that as he wouldve played aa kk hell of a lot more coy.
had a gajillion bb's i cant believe he calls with a 9
but thats what i get for having high expecation of a low buy in tourney
my best friends bday is today and im still waiting for scoops 16.50 quad shootout round 3 its almost 11pm
cant complain though happy with results so far
first two tables were pretty good to me my sitngo days are really paying off just treating it as a winner take all satellite
Still not checking the BR so I have no idea how I've done, but at least I'm back to playing lots of hands. Logged about 1.5k yesterday but stopped cause my second session I ran like total ass and I think I lost like 5 buyins really fast. Today I used an old trick - watching a movie. I ordered starwars episode 1-3 on amazon a week or so ago and the DVD's arrived yesterday, so today I watched episodes 1 and 2 while grinding. That got me to do 2 nice long sessions and log 4.5k hands so far. Planning to do at least 1 more session and probably will watch episode 3 while I do it.
It's nice to be playing a lot of hands again. I think I'm doing pretty well today but I have made a few mistakes (like calling bigrobs river overbet shove when I knew I should fold). Overall there's a lot of fish though which has allowed me to win quite a bit. Been grinding 6-16 tables, though trying to hang in the 8-10 range. Sometimes too many waitlists hit at the same time and then it takes a while to sort out which of the new tables are worth keeping and which to ditch.
I'm aiming to check the BR 1 time a week which will usually be sunday night/monday morning. Hopefully I'll have a good week logged once I do that =) At least I'll have a lot of hands and hopefully a lot of FPP!
so since i got bored of cashgame i decided to play some SNGS last 3 days.
But i think i will definitely return to cashgame.
I managed to fail pretty hard at SNGS
breakeven at 6.50 HU SNGS
big loser at 10$ HU SNGS
breakeven at 10$ DoN sngs
Loser at 22$ DoN
WInner at 22$ HU SNGS I am 9-2 at them while i lose almost 70% of my 10$ sngs lolz
the both matches i lost at the 22$ ones i was all in with better hand both times while it was like 1200-1700 chips T_T
with 50/100 blinds
1st time i lost straight vs 2 pair allin on turn = he riverd FH
2nd time i lost KhTh on Kxhxh flop all in to riverd Ax 1card flush. ( river was 4th hearts)
overall i made exactly +80$ profits in maybe ~60-70 SNgs of all kind
hourly rate = ~ +6.50$
My biggest leak in those SNgs is : not winning 70-30 preflop all-in situations.
I just cant do it.
never works
Tomorrow i will stay with my ex girlfriend and hopfully have some nice day
MOnday is MMA day
Tuesday i think i will play some NL50 pokerstars 6max
So after my 7k downswing, I took a little break and then deposited on full tilt for a change of pace. I dropped down to 1/2 and started playing mostly on the deep tables. So far it's going really well. Im running better, and full tilt seems softer than stars so far (though i did run like ass for the past 2 months on stars and im running well on full tilt, so maybe thats why). Hope i can keep it up.
+11ishK @ 5/10
-1ishk @ lower hold'em (2/4 and 3/6)
-5ishk or so @ omaha.
+ a decent chunk of rakeback, have played a shitload
I'm pretty annoyed that I can't seem to win at 3/6 anymore, but I guess it's standard variance, or it might just be that they respect my raises higher up. Not really rolled enough to make 5/10 my main game either, so I guess that'll have to wait untill the summer. I'm so happy with my decision to "go pro" for a year after this semester. It's such a great opportunity to make such a shitload of money and have so much fun. I think I'll try to grind 3/6 mostly and 5/10 when games are good for a while. If I can get like 2 fairly good months now I'll have a great opportunity to work my way into being a real 5/10 reg during the summer and take random higher shots for a while.
Also, I read a really cool quote. If I can quote it when I'm a 100 years old or whatever I'd be really happy:
"sick and well, I have had splendid life of it, grudge nothing, regret very little ... take it all over, damnation and all, would hardly change with any man of my time." - Robert Louis Stevenson
Hi everybody
This month was really suck for me. I played only few unsuccessful sessions. Because of my May´s leaving examination - I am constanly learning so I don´t have so much time for my playing.
When I finish my high school I´ll only play and play and play...=)
decided to play some 9 table of nl100 and get used to it. ran pretty well, made a really bad spew, and I can tell that I'm definitely worse than some of the players here. I missed out on tonnes of value bets and I need to work on that, but overall +200 so far, so no complaints.
