NL10 :) by Fujikura, June 21

That's right guys. I took a step up to NL10 now that my bankroll is $200. I played for about an hour and won 2 BI today. I know it's probably just variance, but it is always nice to win.
If there is any advice for NL10 that anybody can give, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Halp! by voodoouser, June 21

Hello,

i won a ticket for the 109$ buy-in 50k guaranteed @ carbon poker by playing a satellite.
There are only 160 players registered at the moment and it begins in 15min.

If a decent MTT player want to help me that would be so great because i have about no clue how to play it actually.
Just add me on MSN: pool4 AT hotmail DOT fr

thank you <3

What are the odds.. by blackjacki2, June 21

I just did a pokerstars freeroll turbo flipament with a WoW guildie that has never played poker before. Out of 16,000 people, my guildie came in 18th and I came in 8th Lol. I think the odds of us both making the final table are greater than a billion to one.

Super sweet 18, etc. by Gawuss, June 21

I haven't posted anything here for a while and since I don't really feel like playing or doing anything else today I'll write sth.
I don't want to write about poker that much so here's a brief info: haven't played much this month - maybe 3-4k hands. Including rb from May I'm down like 1-1,2k euros. I'm going to start playing full time again since I had my last school day on Friday and now I've got 2 month-long vacation.
I promised to post some pics from my 18th bday party so here they are (on facebook): http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=26165&id=1316272569
[hopefully you can see them, if not I'll post some here]

Speaking of bday parties my friends had theirs on Friday. I ate pizza and drank 2 bears plus maybe 100ml of vodka. My stomach kinda hurt and I started vomiting in the morning and had diarrhea... That's how I looked like after throwing up.
I ended up getting an i.v. I felt better for a while but it got worse later. Now after sleeping for 13 hours I feel great. I'm a bit hungry though.

In exactly 2 weeks I turn 18 5th July that is !! Can't wait !
I'm planning on visiting my friends in London in the middle of July and it turns out that there's going to be a Unibet Open tournament while I'll be there. 16-19th July. If anyone would like to meet or sth let me know.

GL,

Mike

9 BI Winning Session at NL100, back on track by Joeingram1, June 21

Just put together a 4k hand session at nl100. Normally when I play that limit I will only play all fast tables in order to be able to see more hands/get more vpps. That worked out fine before when I had a big roll online but now the goal is to make the most money/play the best tables. So this session I played fast/slow regular tables and a few good pot limit tables that were running at times. Overall things went really well and I was able to adjust my preflop game and not be so LAG and less 3betting which then allowed me to change my postflop game to a normal person. The affect this had was redline was right at breakeven for the first time that I can remember.

http://i41.tinypic.com/255l26f.gif

Once again the majority of my money made this session was from 2 and 3 handed play when starting tables. At one point I was playing about 6 HU and 3 other 3 handed games while doing the rest full ring. Still was able to crush and made 7 of my BI from 2-3 handed play. Ran a very modest 14/11 game when the table was full and I was very happy with that adjustment. Just need to contiune to grind a lot this week and get that roll back up to 10k in no time.

Happy Fathers Day to all out there

"just one last orbit" by WilsWils, June 21

this week has probably been the fucking shittiest week of poker , mentally, not financially.

i should be crushing these stakes but every session this week has been the most painful week ever. simply because its the same formula each time. literally. 5 days in a row. I dont mind a little switch up! you know, give me a -10 bi day sure, give me a +BI day that'd be cool. but its the same fuckign thing every time, my graphs seriously look identical

so frustrating, cant string together multiple wins this past week

in the grand scheme of thigns, its really not so bad. but i get mega tilted from running bad at the END of the session all the time, not so much the begining. its basically like, oh hey good job grinding yourself out of that hole? let me kick you in the fucking nuts, get back down there asshole

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/982fa5745c66d1724462a380dc3cda39.jpg repeat this for 5 days in a row

so tilting

wtf, this graph isnt even that bad

SO TILTED AGAIN

It's good to run bad by KwarK, June 20

So far this month I've played about 30,000 hands and lost about 20 buyins. I played for about 10 hours today and despite my best efforts ended up down 4 more buyins. This continual losing for a prolonged period of time was really beginning to effect my confidence and make me feel that I was playing badly, even though I could see sick beat after sick beat. After getting 2 outered on the river one last time I tiltquit all my tables and spent an hour scouring the internet for a poker EV grapher for pt3.
What it showed me was the first good news I've had all month. My play is above solid, I'm making sick monies with allin EV. Everything is great. It's just I'm about seriously below my EV. Today alone I was up 5 Sklansky buyins which is a decent day and makes me feel way less bad to be down 4. It's good news. I run bad.

First long session after long break by T8Suited, June 20

I realize I could win flips

Played NL50 instead of NL100 because of wonky internet connecgtion. Made 5 BIs or so yesterday while winning a few flips over 1.5k hands lol

My quality of play, well, sometimes I play well, sometimes I am too weak-tight, sometimes I make bets that no worse hands call, sometimes I am too wild.

I need more balance and more consistency. Hope I can find them in my not-too-distant future

Questionable hands / self critique:

97s Didn't realize me and BB were slightly deep, but in any event this was quite bad (no worse hand calls this shove). On the other hand pot was fairly large, 28 when it was my turn to act. Better line to stack off would be flat flop and bet hard on a blank turn to get value out of Jx, 8x pair+draw type hands maybe?+ Show Spoiler +

AA I flatted PF in order to keep the bad player in. Bad idea since I was oop, perhaps? But I won the flip.+ Show Spoiler +

Q7h Most people would've open-shoved river themselves, but the weak-tight side of me took over here -- my requested time almost ran out on the river again this non-reg.+ Show Spoiler +

63 Too weak to commit with this BB special vs someone who I deemed to be a slightly passive, in-line non-reg.+ Show Spoiler +

53s Only thing that happened right was that I won. Given that he had a chance to resuck in case he had a high spade, I likely didn't have implied odds to call flop.+ Show Spoiler +

Fun hands -- sorted by entertainment value, no much thoughts needed
86h Trapper trapped + Show Spoiler +

66 Passive reg (?) lost his mind? + Show Spoiler +

T7 Triple-barrel for cute little pot + Show Spoiler +

77 Medium sized heads-up pot, lol @ him betting $9 on the turn + Show Spoiler +

QT A correctly played version of the 97s hand maybe? + Show Spoiler +

KK Satisfactory extraction vs reg + Show Spoiler +

AJs Hands like this tilt me so much + Show Spoiler +

75h Didn't know what I could beat, but he bet kind of small + Show Spoiler +

Plus some won flips that I didn't post (AK vs QQ 100BB, AsTs vs Ah2h board Ad9s2s)

Finally, I think I played these well
JJ vs a frequent 3-bettor + Show Spoiler +

AK vs a raise and reraise PF + Show Spoiler +

Not afraid of you by ToTehEastSide, June 20

A little background. The House of Representatives voted on a resolution in support of the Iranian dissidents and condemning the ruling government. There was 235 Democrats and 171 Republicans that voted. The final vote was 405-1.
Can you guess who the one politician to oppose the resolution was?
+ Show Spoiler +

Here's his opposing statement:

"I rise in reluctant opposition to H Res 560, which condemns the Iranian government for its recent actions during the unrest in that country. While I never condone violence, much less the violence that governments are only too willing to mete out to their own citizens, I am always very cautious about “condemning” the actions of governments overseas. As an elected member of the United States House of Representatives, I have always questioned our constitutional authority to sit in judgment of the actions of foreign governments of which we are not representatives. I have always hesitated when my colleagues rush to pronounce final judgment on events thousands of miles away about which we know very little. And we know very little beyond limited press reports about what is happening in Iran.

Of course I do not support attempts by foreign governments to suppress the democratic aspirations of their people, but when is the last time we condemned Saudi Arabia or Egypt or the many other countries where unlike in Iran there is no opportunity to exercise any substantial vote on political leadership? It seems our criticism is selective and applied when there are political points to be made. I have admired President Obama’s cautious approach to the situation in Iran and I would have preferred that we in the House had acted similarly.

I adhere to the foreign policy of our Founders, who advised that we not interfere in the internal affairs of countries overseas. I believe that is the best policy for the United States, for our national security and for our prosperity. I urge my colleagues to reject this and all similar meddling resolutions."

15k Hand session NL50, 25 BI swing lol by Joeingram1, June 20

So back on the grind today. At the start of the day I only had about 2.4k online (I've had 15k+ for the last few months, cashed out a bunch before this month because who knew I would go nuts and lose 11k) still and thought about playing nl25 but it is really hard to lose money at nl50 so played my session there. Bought a $650 bonus at the beginning of the session and my goal was to clear it, which is 4.5k VPP. Eventually I achieved my goal and after starting the session down 750 (15BI). I rebounded to be up 10.5 BI

http://i44.tinypic.com/ziow7l.gif

As you can see at the beginning the redline was going out of control and when I started winning money is when my redline evened out and I stopped going crazy with the betting and was pot controlling alot more with medium strength hands. I dont really know how I do it but recovering back to even is a great feeling and then making money on top of it is just a bonus for me.

I usually start a ton of tables throughout my session so alot of my play ends up being shorthanded and HU while I'm 24 tabling fast tables. Today I played 1k hands HU in my session and about 3k hands with 6 or less. Basically all my money I made today (and usually most sessions) was with 6 or less players. I'm not sure how I am able to play like 4 HU, 4 shorthanded tables and then 16 full ring tables but I'm sure it cant be good. Somehow I win though lol odd.

I also keep ending up on the top popular searches on table ratings, it makes me laugh when i see it lol. Usually for the past few months I have always been in the top 50, not really sure who checks me out so much on there but apparently people do. Although tableratings has missed alot of hands for me, I still enjoy being a top 5 search haha.

Time to get some sleep then back up to grind another 15k-20k hands tomorrow and rebuild that bankroll. Have about 3.6k online so might play nl100 or just grind another nl50 session, games are so so good on weekends at either stake.

Crying in 'x' years? by Svenman87, June 20

A girl recently caught me off guard about when the last time I cried was... I haven't honestly shed a tear in over six years, when I told her this she almost felt off guard by such an answer.

Is this remotely close to things? or am I way off base here?
