Made it through day 1a by DustySwedeDude, July 16

Had a really crappy table for the big part of the day with a bigstacked Mike Macdonald (timex) to my left, some 5/10 reg I know a bit to the left of him and then some 50/100 player from bossmedia or whatever in the next seat. Got my fair share of cards during the earlier levels and despite some suboptimal play due to random factors including my lack of live experience I played fairly tight and ran good enough. I think the day started with like 113 players or something and it's 27 left now. I'm in place like 13 or something with a little less then average. Have 37k going into day 2 with blinds of 500/1k and a 100 or 200 ante. Not quite sure. 150? Whatever. I guess I can steal a bit to begin with and then just tighten up and reshove on people. I guess like 60-70 people will make it to day 2, and maybe top 25-30ish will get ITM so when I'm rested again I think I'll bring the out the big guns and see if I can make a run for it or at least go out in a blaze of glory.

http://www.unibetopen.com/2009/07/16/it-just-gets-better-and-better/#respond - Althought, to be fair I had QTo.

Also played the sexiest hand of my life.Miss Belgium minraised UTG, I flatcalled AcTx on the button, blinds folded. Flop comes KcQcXc, UTG checks, I stare at her, ehh, eyes for like 30 seconds and then I bet like 2/3rds pot. She folds pretty quickly

someone commented on the 32s hand being bad. i almost always flat there but with the dynmaic of what had happened in the last like 30 hands and how bad he was i think its fine. he gets it in with an 8 100% of the time there and sometimes a 3 or 5( yes hes that bad) and its really hard for him to have me beat. only hand really is a runner runner higher flush. any set/2pair raises gets it in 100% on the flop.

Now that all the WSOP shananigans are through... by GWi, July 16

Wife is better so we're going to Vegas for a few months. Staying mainly at the Orleans, because we did well there back on our honeymoon. Even though I'm 24 I'm totally gonna take a Clark Griswold approach wardrobe wise (fanny pack, mint green shorts that reach about 4 inches above my knees, and some r-tard shirt) for like the first week @ the 1/2 tables... I should probably get one of those green see-through visors. I probably won't be doing that at the orleans so much as the strip casinos during pre-afternoon/immediate post-afternoon hours. Later bitchez.

Last night and the following morning.... by Cooper83, July 16

My best friend came to town and we went out last night. Did the whole bar hopping thing got way to drunk etc. Naturally he thought it was a good idea to drive and I was to drunk to think it was a bad idea. On the way to a bar in the busy area known as the square where there's always a ton of cops I decide I need to puke and force him to pull over into a parking lot. Were parked(very poorly) and I'm puking by the bumper when the cop pulls up and asks me how it's going. I say fine, just not feeling so well. They ask if I'm driving I say no, at this point my friend decides moving his car anywhere would be a bad idea as they would be watching us. I agree so we walk to a bar and grab a drink no big deal I've left my car parked there before when I was to drunk to drive. After the drink at the bar we call it a night and walk the 4 miles home staggering drunk. On the way we naturally walk through the Taco Bell drive through for food where we order 20 tacos for the two of us. We finally get back and we grab a couple beers and just relax. Eventually we passed out, pretty normal night out when we get together. We woke up this morning around 11am and I take him to go get his car only to find out that there is some festival going on downtown so his car got towed. At this point the rage starts to set in, he has quite a temper which was honestly hard to keep a straight face. You have to realize things like this just happen to him, he is literally a shit magnet, bad things that rarely happen to any normal person always happen to him. So we go to get his car and he finds out it's gonna cost $170 to get it out. I'm splitting it with him, but yeah outside of the money it's fricken hilarious cause it's him.

Another example of the random bad things that happen to him, were at a nice restaurant where he knows one of the waitresses. We finish eating and he has to drop a deuce and because he's dating the waitress he doesn't want to at the nice restaurant(he's an idiot). So we leave the restaurant and go across the street to McDonalds where he proceeds to relieve himself. He was in such a hurry to get into the stall he didn't really investigate much which was mistake number 2. So he comes back out to the car and I smell something awful, we start investigating to find out the source only to realize that his pants are covered in someone elses shit from the bathroom floor and it's all over him. Needless to say it was insanely hilarious but another one of those only him moments which bring such joy to everyone else.

lol rage tilt :D by ConquistadoR, July 16

just came back from work and was highly motivated to play some and make some money.

then all of a sudden RAGE tilt kicks in for no appearent reason. maybe because i couldnt win a fucking hand to start with. then it goes on me cursing at every player, not thinking about the game at all, mindless calls and tilt bluffs that even increase my rage more.. i just realized it and was like wtf am i DOING here lol.

and suddenly im calm again but i'll stop playing when i lose 1 more BI. New inforced rules yo. God what I would sacrifice for being tilt-prone. It would save my life.

oh raw but old song

Beginning by lewy313, July 16

Hello. I play poker from november 2008. Through that months i try to beat micro nl 6max holdem. Today i play nl50 with really low winrate or maybe even i have negative winrate. I watch a lot of dc videos and I figure out that couching is ev+. But my english skill is barrier for me. So i can't do that. I have idea that this blog and writing on lq.net could help me.

During last two days i lost something like 600$ playing on 6 tables. That isn't downswing or something. I'm pretty sure I lost that money because i play like spazy donk. I have huge bankroll but i get that money especially from bonus rakeback etc. I have 11bb/100 winrate on nl20-nl25 but nl50 is different story. I have many problems with 3bet pot especially OOP. I looking for some other players for talking about hands and other stuff. If i find someone i can improve my english and my poker skill so if somebody want to do that pm me.

I think i need go down to nl20 one more time. I think i can post once a week couple of hands and hem graph. After that i try to beat nl50 one more time. But if I couldn't do that. I need to finish my journey with poker.

ps: I know that i have many mistakes in that post so if you can indicate me that i will be very happy

ps2:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/124d287ed62ad442e52281aafc9d97e6.jpg

I can see from this stats i'm more agressive on nl20 because i can outplay villains but when i play nl50 i turning into weak tight shity player. I espiecally worry about w$wsf on nl50.

FTP or PS for Micros? by k2o4, July 16

I was under the impression that with the rakeback it made more sense to start grinding on FTP now that they had .01/.02 tables instead of stars, but that once you got up to NL100 where supernova was achievable Stars evened out the rakeback battle thanks to the concierge option. I wanna know cause as you can see in my blog post below, I'm starting my GF out on poker and I was planning to have her start on FTP as they've fixed their software up a lot so that it's close to being as good as stars and they have rakeback. Now I wonder if I'm making the wrong choice because of this PM I got from Edzwoo:

Just a quick heads up, even after a standard 27% rakeback deal is setup on FTP, the rake is actually still worse on FTP + rakeback than on Stars.

Basically the rake rates are as followed for NL2-NL10

Stars rakes you at 4.92ptbb/100
FTP no rakeback rakes you at 7.89ptbb/100
FTP + rakeback rakes you at 5.76ptbb/100

FTP recently changed their rake numbers, but it's misleading because they rake a smaller % but more often, so it really didn't change at all. I have friends that play NL2, and those numbers are from 50k hand samples of each, so they should be accurate.

Also not including that bronze star on PS is worth like 10% rakeback in it of itself.

Anyone else heard the same stuff?

Ivey is so sick by remember87, July 16

well I wrote in my previous post that Ivey was bust at the rio. Obviously thats not true since he is one of the november nine. He took a small brake when I was there, he was low in chips so he wasnt on the chipcounts and guys on the rail said he was bust. I was pretty fooled. Happy that I was though. I hope he can win that bracelet! He is probably the best player in the world and to win the ME would just get that into the history books!

At the tables tonight was a lot of talk about Mr. Ivey. He went in at Bobbys room after the game finished at Rio and talked to Antonius, Illari o Co. As usual he didnt show any emotions at all
After he had shown up, there was a lot of talk about the prob bets he has. According to several people here he bet 10 to 1 after day 1 that he could reach the final table at the ME. At that time he also bet $20k at 100 to 1 that he would win the ME Thats a guy with too much confidence or too much money.
If the bet with Howard Lederer (5M$) is not just a rumour I guess he could win like 10M$ in just prop bets if he wins the ME!

Playwise the Bellagio doesnt like me. I am playing 2/5 and the games are really soft but my hands can never win..
Once again it started out well, I called down a guy 3 streets ip with TT on Q85ss82 and he muched before I even got a chance to show my hand. That was the only big hand I won all night.
I lost 2 flips AI pre, top 2 against a FD on turn etc but it was like the cards didnt want to go my way. It was also a bit hard to bluff since everyone saw me as this young aggressive swedish internet kid and called me down with like 3 pair no matter the board. Guess I have blame myself. I kinda made a joke or two about having pair-outs when I bluffed in a pot and the table didnt believe me one second after that. I wanted to really get value from that but when I even didnt hit a pair for 1,5h I quit and am going to bed now.

I guess I will loose a couple of BI tomorrow too but then its enough at NL500. I really dont have the bankroll to loose too much at this level even if I think these are the softest games I have played in.. they are even softer then Stockholms 20/20 games..

Unibet Open by DustySwedeDude, July 16

So I'll play day 1a today. Swapped 5% with zografa, fazi and pulda.

Flight here was scary. I don't like flying. I'm scared of it. It was ok though, compared to the taxi we took from Paddington Central to the Hotel. The driver was batshit insane, if I hadn't struggled so not to shit myself it'd been the funniest thing ever. The hotel is a little bit to nice for my taste, but whatever. Can't always get what you want, as the great philosopher Jagger once said.

I*m of to find breakfast now. Which me luck.

Bellagio by remember87, July 15

Vegas is so impressive! Just as I imagined! Staying at Bellagio with a view of the fountain and I just love it!

I started out the day with a walk to the Rio and checked out the WSOP just as Ivey busted out. I also got a photo with Dennis Phillips! Then we checked out Ceasars palace before I sat down to play some at Bellagios poker room.
Games were also running at Bobbys room, I think Doyle Brunson played at it and also Patrick Antonius.

The games are really soft and easy at Bellagio. It started of great when I took a fish´s money w Q8 v 85 on J8x8K. I then took down some easy pots w bluffs etc cause nobody could handread. Then I raised in MP w J6hh, fish calls in SB and the flops comes KQ9 all hearts. He C/C my CB, then C/minR a blank turn and we get it in like 200bb deep, he has AAh and ofc spikes a heart on the river.
I rebuy and then another fish sits down at my left, he really liked to show he had money. 10 min in I raise, new fish calls and SB calls. flop comes T63r, checked to me, I bet and new fish calls before I can get my chips in the middle Turn another 6 now with 2 hearts. He insta C/C again. River comes 8h and insta goes AI. I kinda know I am beat but reluctantly calls. He shows 97o..
Since I am hungry I leave the table with a loss of 1100$.. hmm.. new try tonight.

My First Blog - Starting Poker by zaragyemo, July 15

Ok, this is my first blog on LiquidPoker. I thought that it is appropriate that I create one as I start my poker journey. I know minimal about Poker, whatever I know about poker is from living with a poker player boyfriend (k2o4) and his nonstop rambling (and I don’t remember half of what he says because I wasn’t really listening but obviously pretending to listen). There are days when I show interest and really listen (i.e when I am in a good mood) and managed to find it rather interesting. Well, interesting enough to inspire me to learn to play.

For the longest time, I have been adverse to any sort of gambling, poker included. And I still stick by the belief that if you don’t know what you are doing – it is still gambling. I was introduced to Poker in September/October of 2006 when k2o4 moved to India to be with me. I was very skeptical at the beginning; he spent some time convincing me why poker is not gambling but rather a strategic game if known how to play. I grew up in a pretty conservative Tibetan culture where gambling is looked down upon. The only time you gamble is on Losar (Tibetan New Year). I don’t know if there is any other Tibetan online poker player here and I am probably the first Tibetan girl to blog here.

Anyways, cutting the blog short, in the last 3 years we have been together, he has managed to convince me otherwise. And it’s not because he brought home big bucks (it doesn’t harm to have extra cash to spend) but because of the better person playing Poker has made him.

If you think relationships are hard and girls vicious – try poker. It’s merciless as you all know. Poker as a game is less forgiving than any girlfriend you will ever have. You can’t even cheat emotionally in poker, if you do – you are fucked (in a bad way).

Poker in a way has been a therapy for k2o4, because a lot of the time the way you play poker and deal with its outcome is very parallel to how you deal with everything in real life. You have a bad day at poker and you tilt, become stupid, play worse and lose more money, the same case in real life - you have a bad day, you drink, fight with your girl friend and eventually break up in worse cases.

And if you learned to deal with coolers, suck outs and bad beats and have an emotional control over the situation – you are able to do the same in real life and I have first hand experience with k2o4. He is much more of a balanced guy because of poker.

Cutting the crap, basically I am going to learn how to play poker because of below reasons.

- Over the years, it has come to look fun to play.
- I am curious to see if I am good at it.
- Something that both k2o4 and I can share and talk about and this time, we will hopefully listen and hear each other out.
- Extra pocket money doesn’t hurt but I think there is a long way to go.
