i don't want to be a nit anymore. by jasper5408, July 24

i'm a nit. i play my hands. i need cards to win the monies. i v-bet the best i can. i make ppl pay for draws the best i can. i hand read the best i can. i'm still a nit.

i am plowing through nl25. without programs or coaching. but i play to not spew. not spew wins the fucking monies. until what limit does [not spew] = win monies?

i want to get better. i want to become better at this game. i'm really starting to love this game. there was a point in time where i stopped posting as many threads. cause i figured i saw all there was to see in the hand summary. i could read deep and figure out everything.

gradually i started seeing advice from some of the better people (mainly tt and baal (<--i know wtf)) and it was somewhat incredible how well they thought out a hand.

this post is somewhat a bunch of rambling and nonsense, but i guess i can conclude it in this measure. i want to become a better player. so much so that i'm going to inconvenience many of you (as well as myself, i hate to be faggot). with many jackass threads in the nl 25 section.

anyway today was a good day up 4 buy ins ^_~

Moving to NL25 again. by mikeymoo, July 23

Sorry for the spam.

I was taking a look at my NL10 stats, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest any adjustments to my preflop ranges from any position, since I'm moving up and would like to fix a lot of my leaks. I've had a few discussions on the side, mostly regarding stealing from the sb, which I almost never do. I know my button/cutoff need to get much looser, but I'm not sure what hands to add to that range. Right now I'm raising any ace, any suited king, most unsuited kings, sc's, pairs, anything that looks kind of pretty. I only have 20k hands here, sorry about that.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/32ebd19cf68993eb3a5eba080ff13283.png
I have some other leaks I'd like to discuss but I think this one is really big and needs to be fixed before the others.

As always if anyone wants to discuss hands/poker you can PM me here and get my msn from me =]

Super shoutout to response, semper(oops you're a lazy bastard) and mayzerg this week.

5 Digit Update, Coaching lol? by PanoRaMa, July 23

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/72309.png

Kind of weird how counter intuitive this game is. I'm running well and I've made a lot this month (mostly 2/4, some 3/6) but the truth is I don't think I'm playing very very well (and it's sad to see my red line tanking so hard when I've historically had a breakeven red line). I've prided myself on the fact that, for about a year now, I've only gotten much much better each month, but I feel like I've stagnated recently. Hopefully I can change that soon and get back in the process of noticing vast improvements in my game, because that's prob the greatest feeling for me in poker (besides winning money ofc )

I also feel extremely guilty for not grinding as much. It's been a problem I've had for so long, where I have sooo much free time but I'm so shortterm results oriented that I don't want to "Ruin a good day" by playing another session if I have like 3 hours free, because I don't want to end up down for the day etc. etc. The reality is my implied hourly is like 100 an hour just by playing even 1/2 (which isn't my normal stake anymore), and yet I'm passing this up because I'm a shortterm results nit. I DEFINITELY need to change this and start treating this game like a true professional.

Oh, and coaching. I never advertised it on LP, but since it's the trend these days I might as well just mention it although I've got a busy schedule coming up. I've coached many players, specifically at the micros and lower stakes. I never advertised on LP because I don't feel like my results are as marketable or my name is as credible, so most if not all of my students have been from word of mouth only. So I'm not going to lie, and filter/edit my HEM results to show that I'm some 5ptbb bad ass over 500k hands, but I do think I have an extremely good foundation for Micro stakes and 100 and 200nl. I've even written an entire series of powerpoints dedicated to beating micros up to 100nl, which I use for micro limit students. I'm also a previous student of aejones so the theory I teach is not just some random standardized stuff off of 2p2 but with actual game theory application to it and an entire way of approaching poker applied by many high stakes players. But I'm not going to go out of my way to try to get students because it doesn't matter much for me, but if you are interested, and gauging the amount of interest, I can possibly set something up. I coach 100nl/200nl players for 125/hr, and cheaper for micro students in group setting.

Also a fun hand
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/720819

Basically the only hand he can ever do this with for value would have to be a hand like AQ or KQ with a flopped fd, whereas this is a lot more indicative of AhXx missing. I also don't think I'm folding out a lot of his pairs so I feel a check is > bet, but once he bets, c/r > c/f >>>>>>>>>>> c/c (obv )

Unibet is the nuts by DustySwedeDude, July 23

Ok, first of all, I don't get anything for writing this, as far as I know no one at Unibet reads my blog and whatever else crap one is supposed to write in the beginning. Consider this a recommendation from your favourite midstakes Sweede (except Pinball, he's arguably a funnier person then me, and saki might've won more money for people, so like, I guess I'm 3rd).

If you want to play on Prima, play on Unibet. It might take them a while, but when they consider you an important costumer they treat you really, really good. They are always polite, the VIP-support has been working super well for the last year or so and God knows I've been giving them some shit about short stacks, how the hell one is supposed to get from Heathrow in the middle of the night and if they could kindly please turn of my fucking doomswitch. Variations of that has been sent from my E-mail with and phone with a pretty high frequency for the last maybe 18 months and I've yet to get one even slightly rude reply. If something is fucked up, you tell them and they do their best to fix it. At least on two occasions I know that they've gone out of their way to check out pretty obscure requests and tried to find alternative solutions when the platform (microgaming) wouldn't do shit about stuff.

Overall I'd like to say that as long as nothing to extreme happens and S and M (heh, I'll just call then S&M from now on, hadn't thought of that before) are left as the VIP-support for Sweden there's no way I'll use any other site as my "main site" (although, FTOPS are fun).

As for poker they told me that if I could get 45 VIP-points in a month (roughly 70k hands of 5/10, I think) they'll put me in Unibet Open Prague for free. So I figured I had to start grinding. The last 51 hours or so I've played 10k hands. Down a lot in 2/4, 3/6 and 5/10 but up more in 10/20. Overall I'm having my best month ever with a lot of margin so I'm contemplating posting a rather sick graph at the end of the month.

coaching interest? by bober1, July 23

Seeing all these coaching posts lately I kind of want to get into it. I have no coaching experience though so I kind of want to just try it out. So if there's any interest, I'd start coaching up to 1/2 no limit 6 max, and i'd just start at $25/hr for now to see if I'm any good at coaching and if I am good at it, and theres intrest, I'd raise rates. For the hour we could do whatever, I could sweat you, review a video of yours, go over hand histories, talk theory, you could watch me or any other ideas you may have. Here's my lifetime stats, and my graph is posted in the previous blog. Over the last 150k hands, i've been making $70/hr mostly 4 tabling between 1/2 and 2/4 and I'm sure that rate is currently higher. I think I can offer help to anyone who isn't able to beat up to and including 200nl. I wouldn't feel comfortable coaching 400nl though i feel like I'm a winner there. My most recent results you can see on pokertableratings, my screen name is boberish on full tilt.

Last week in Vegas by BalloonFight, July 23

Well I left for vegas on the 16 and just got back in yesterday. Had a blast with a bunch of friends. First 2 days i went to the evolution fighting game tourney and played some games/hung out with people. Then we basically just hung out around the city checking out everything and eating at some sick places.

Last 2 days I played a decent amount of live poker at Excalibur. The poker room is pretty bad there but the dealers are cool, and there's a decent amount of tourists stopping by. I was kinda leery as I didn't bring that much to play. Only about 4 buyins for nl200. I quickly realized that nl200 live is probably the easiest thing ever. It's literally nl5 or nl10 but with more money. Really easy and extremely enjoyable. Even though I'm used to 9-12 tabling I found live really fun just chatting with the people playing. It's basically free money if you put in the time. Think I played like 18 or so hours which paid for my entire trip. Pretty sweet imo.

Lesson learned though is to play a LOT more live. At least 1 decent session per day, and to bring a bigger live roll just so I won't have any fear of busting it. I'll also probably play some at MGM and Mandalay Bay next time. Imperial Palace also seems pretty sick as its apparently insanely soft, they have $100 bonus if your aces get cracked, and $50 bonus for kings getting cracked, as well as $2 per hour for just playing if you have a players card (which is apparently the best rate in vegas)

All in all I had a great time with friends and can't wait to go back. I'm definitely going to try to get out to Vegas again before this year is over.. hopefully within a few months.

Oh yea I forgot to make a shitty blog before I left but like a week ago I played a 5100ish hand session which EASILY breaks my record for longest session. I probably won't ever do that again either as I was just exhausted after, heh.

some words for beginners by PplusAD, July 23

Just a few things i learned during my 2years of poker with all the ups and downs.

Most of u know me , but for those who dont.

I played poker for 2 years and had a lot of ups and downs.
I made my way from Nl10 up to NL200 but never managed to become a regular there.
I was a small winner at NL100 6max and a semi decent winner at NL100 HU

Some weeks ago i decided that i overall fail at poker since i lack some characteristics a good poker player must have.

1.) I cant play long sessions for 4-5days a week . I always had the problem that i dont enjoy sitting in front of a computer for more than 2-3hours.
That has been my problem with starcraft where i only got C-
and that has also been my problem with poker ... and i guess it will always be a problem in this kinda things.
I have never been a computer nerd and i will never be
Playing computer games for longer than 3 hours bores me to death.

I am a very active athletic person and i love doing sports more than everything else in my Life. I just have a need inside my body to move and have action all day. Thats just the way i am.
Sitting in front of a computer for 6-9h a day playing poker without moving my body simply is not for me.
I get in a bad mood, feel bored and start to play bad/tilt after some time.

I played this game for 2 years yet i had only 2 month where i played more than 25K hands ...

Okay enough talk
here are some tipps.

1. BRM and Discipline are the most important skills in Poker

If u dont manage to keep a strict BRM in poker -> quit the game
There is now way u will ever succeed longterm being a degen gambler.

20BI for up to NL50 is the lowest amount of BR u shall ever have.
I suggest moving up to Nl50 at 25BI and moving down again when below 20,0 BI

Having a " up30/down25" BI BRM is also fine for NL10 NL20 Nl25 and Nl50

Nl100+

I really suggest u to have bigger BRM when reaching NL100
30BI is the lowest u should ever have imo ....
moving to Nl100 at 40BI/ moving down at 30BI is probably okay.

The reason for this is simple.
Allthough u still can make decent money at Nl100 the average skill level of a NL100 player increasd drastically. 90% of the regulars have a CR,DC or Leggo membership and only do small mistakes while having semi decent basic skills. Most tables only have 1-2 overagressive fish besides the regular: Low edge vs regulars + very agressive fish -> variance even at NL100 will be Huuughe.

2.)
It is extremly important to make the right longterm decisions even when u might lose a good amount of money shortterm.
Being 5-8 BI down over 10K hands Nl100 even though u play very good and are a decent winner is very common nowadays.

So if u have a small BR with only like 25Bi this will negativly effect your mood and your correct descision making !

Thats also what i have to say for all the guys who just recently started poker.

Always do the right descision without tinking about shortterm money.

In a 1K hand sample size your profits are ~90% luck and only 10%skill
In a 5K hand sample size your profits are ~ 80%luck 20%skill
In 10 K hands ~ 70 /30
In 20 K hands ~ 60/40
In 40K hands ~ 50/50

So if u read some decent strategy guides and play your tag agressive style at micros while focusing on correct descision making
-> dont even worry about your results in the first 10K hands.

In those short sample sizes the results are almost complete due to luck /bad luck !

The worst mistake would be to move up and play underrolled at higher limits just because u got a heater and made 15Bi the last 10K hands on Nl25.

The second worst mistake would be to stop making correct descisons and become a total NIT just because u are down 8 BI over the last 10K hands losing every flip.

3.) Tilt control
When u realize u are tilted -> insta shut down all poker applications !
If u only do 1-2 bad descisions while being tilted every session
u will lose 15-30 BI a month !!!
Being on 10 minute Tilt doesnt seem to be that big of a problem shortterm losing only 1-2 BI ....

But longterm it totally kills your winrate.
A player who never tilts saves ~ 150-200 BI /year compared to a player of exact equal skill who has regular tilt issues.
This is hughe !

GL ALL

side note played some relaxed 1,4K hands today 9 tabling 6max Nl25 and made + 75$
I will continue to play some pokerz every now and then when i need some monez

First session by Nadeem, July 23

So i played my first session respecting my BR.
I played a couple of hands on 2NL, and i found it boring so i decided to grind the 1.25 MTT sng over and over.
This worked well, i'm like in the money 70% of the times so thats pretty cool. I'll post figures later when i played some more.
Its hard to adapt to the microstakes though, i was used playing 25 and sometimes even 50 NL. Its both hard and easy.
People are so hard to read, many of them are like 50/15 or sth but you know.
I dont allow any fancy play either, i play ABC poker cause theres really no other way on these stakes.

My life has been pretty stupid this week but after all its not that bad.
I drove my dads new volkswagen against a post so that sucks. And my bike was stolen so that also sucks.
But me and my girlfriend are together 2 year today so thats pretty awesome. She hates poker though. Thats not awesome at all.
Peace

Dog runs, goes somewhere. by mikeymoo, July 23

See blog post below for reference.
I hit my goal of 40bi at NL25 so I played that for roughly 4 hours today. Got soulowned by a fish and overall ran quite bad/unknown spew somewhere, going to session review a bit later.

At least I know I crush nl10 and have that confidence back. I'm still confident in my nl25 game as I'm making good decisions, I'm just not getting the right results over a small sample size, as is expected quite often.

Honestly I only make these blog posts so I can keep checking my progress and just in case the WBCOOP decides to spring up. I never know when that is.

Anywho, back to NL10 for the next bit as I've hit my 5bi limit for 25, but I'll be back at it fairly soon. I'm being kept accountable for playing 8 hours a day or at least studying poker etc.

Oh and I won my props from below's post. Ship it.

vegas count 3 by palak, July 23

Havn't been able to play live since my family is in town and the waits on tables r always ginormous. Thinking I should just take a break from all poker anyway with how online has been going.

live: -$600
Online:-$2.3k

With withdrawl I had to made I am now exactly even on the month. Managed to lose my entire profit in 5.7k hands..go me.

In addition, you will not be able to deposit money into your player account or participate in any player-to-player transfers during your exclusion.

Your exclusion will end at 2009-07-26 17:04:52, at which time, you will once again have full access to your player account and to all of the games and tournaments on our site. You may request to extend your exclusion period upon expiration, but at no time will you ever be allowed to terminate your exclusion prior to its scheduled

best decision i've made in a while ...gonna watch some bluefirevids, find a way to maybe play live...and rebuild when I get back on Monday. Still have lost nearly 99% of confidence in myself but looking back before. Last month I lost 4k in 4k hands and my roll went all the way down to 5.2k. Hopefully w/ this break will allow me to refocus and come back able to get my money back before that happens again.

Looking for some input by Cooper83, July 23

The last couple days I've been logging a lot of hands and working on playing a bit more laggy which is actually improving my game immensely. It's also put me in a couple rather tough spots that I'm not sure how standard/spewy they are. In the two pots I have in mind I'm playing against a villian somewhere in the
35-40/27-30/15-18% 3bet range.

The first hand I raised mp with A/Qo got 3bet and flatted flop came Q/2/2 rainbow, villian bets $7 into $14.25 I raise to $24 and he flats. Turn brings 8 still rainbow he checks I jam he calls flips over Q/Q GG me. Now is this standard or spewy, if I'm calling a 3bet this is pretty much a dream flop. Should I slow down the turn when he flats the flop and re-val the river although I don't see how I can fold to a jam?

2nd hand I 4bet A/J in position board came J high he checked I checked back, turn didn't change anything he checked I jammed he called with K/K and I stacked off. This is a bit more spewy although the error was preflop, post I think it's standard. Not really if I should play this any different post flop or not? Your thoughts?

lifetime by bober1, July 23

So i recently found out pokerstars would actually send you every hand history you ever played on the website. I decided to put together my lifetime database there since i really wasnt totally sure how much i've made due to cashouts and multiple comps etc. Here's my lifetime graph over the last few years.

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5701/lifetimeb.jpg

I'm pretty happy overall with how poker's went for me. I just need to put in more hands!

sexy broccoli stew by Racist Dragon, July 23

what is my little beautiful bunnies.

i've been away for awhile, due to personal reasons. my racist level has been dropping, but i believe i'll bring it up to competitive standards within the next week.

have been fucking the dog with regard to poker, haven't been playing at all - been more busy getting all kinds of shit for my new apartment in the city... and have probably dropped like a quarter of my bankroll on that. shitballs and vinegar.

also, buddy of mine from university/hockey/life is back from ontario for a few weeks, so i've been drinking way more than usual. in fact, i miss having solid shits. heavy prolonged drinking certainly has a way of fucking up my intestines. fuck you alcohol, you beautiful dark frienemy of mine.

so yeah, time to start grinding the shit outta the poker for a bit. apartment is mostly furnished, but still need a shitload of odd's and ends. never knew how much a fucking sofa set and bedroom set cost before. craziness.

anyways my little racist poker clicking dirty bastard friends, i bid you adieu

downswing is eating me alive.. by longple, July 23

its getting so tiering running like this month after month..

this downswing has lasted for over 3 months now and these 2 last days speak for themself..

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/56d2eb4e847b9b2022ea311338c83c10.jpg

over 3 different sites now and i made some calculations and im 120 buy ins under my expected EV. over 3 months and about 200k hands.

im seriously thinking of suicide, its so enoying cuz im laying down soooo much time on this shit.

Im sure i have alot of leaks but im pretty sure i should be more of a winner on 25NL and 50NL then breakeven with EV telling me im a 15bb/100 winner..

fucking piss..

Whoaaaa by Night2o1, July 23

I actually tilted while playing online, wow. Ran bad but obviously made it worse by tilting. Dunno what to do w/ myself atm, feeling embarassed & dejected about tilting over some nl100 buyins. I guess I will try not to grind live or online anymore today (pretty sure I'm going to fail at this as soon as I post this blog, I'll just play nl50 I guess). Really wondering why I'm feeling so emo'd out/easily tilted the last 2 days, guess its just a lot of frustration with poker the past week.. Being in such sick good games and just not having the deck cooperate in the smallest way.

I don't feel like I'm going to meet my goal for july/august and I'm probably going to have to push everything back another while. Continuing to miss my goals or expect that I'm going to miss them is slowly getting to me I guess. I definitely need to figure out a way to power back up, lol.

Bah, this whole entry probably just has to do with the *REALLY* shitty sleep I've gotten the past 3 days, as my schedule has flip-flopped every single one of those days. All of the above is probably just from my body & mind being fucked up from that.

Anyway, my mom has been in town for 7 or so days now. Today we're going to hit up craftsteak and then goto Carrot Top's show, which is supposed to be really good. I'm pretty excited to go see his show. After that I will try to get a normal sleep schedule for a couple of days and see if I can get my head back on track :D

I almost want to post this pathetic graph haha. I killed all of my online profits for the month (7 nl100 bi) so over the 4k hands I've played this month, I'm officially a rakeback pro

Leaving for Orlando by mrpav.com, July 23

Leaving for Orlando tomorrow for disney world. I'm leaving at 3am so i'm going to be grumby as hell since i need my 8-10 hours of sleep or i go nuts. I'll try to take lots of pics.

I also watched 12 rounds today, and i'm not sure if I liked it or not. Maybe need to sleep it over to make a decision. Poker wise, I think i'm going to stick to 200nl for as long as I can, much weaker players and 8 table, since thats wha works for me.

What else, oh yeah, wanted to get some more posters at PokerMuscle so the site can have more content so i'm looking for people to post on the site. You would need to post 500 times on the site, start a minimum of 50 threads and I give you $20. Posts need to be minimum of 20-30 words. No time frame to complete, so take all the time you need. This offer is for all LP members
