Just a few things i learned during my 2years of poker with all the ups and downs.

Most of u know me , but for those who dont.

I played poker for 2 years and had a lot of ups and downs.
I made my way from Nl10 up to NL200 but never managed to become a regular there.
I was a small winner at NL100 6max and a semi decent winner at NL100 HU

Some weeks ago i decided that i overall fail at poker since i lack some characteristics a good poker player must have.

1.) I cant play long sessions for 4-5days a week . I always had the problem that i dont enjoy sitting in front of a computer for more than 2-3hours.
That has been my problem with starcraft where i only got C-
and that has also been my problem with poker ... and i guess it will always be a problem in this kinda things.
I have never been a computer nerd and i will never be
Playing computer games for longer than 3 hours bores me to death.

I am a very active athletic person and i love doing sports more than everything else in my Life. I just have a need inside my body to move and have action all day. Thats just the way i am.
Sitting in front of a computer for 6-9h a day playing poker without moving my body simply is not for me.
I get in a bad mood, feel bored and start to play bad/tilt after some time.

I played this game for 2 years yet i had only 2 month where i played more than 25K hands ...

Okay enough talk
here are some tipps.

1. BRM and Discipline are the most important skills in Poker

If u dont manage to keep a strict BRM in poker -> quit the game
There is now way u will ever succeed longterm being a degen gambler.

20BI for up to NL50 is the lowest amount of BR u shall ever have.
I suggest moving up to Nl50 at 25BI and moving down again when below 20,0 BI

Having a " up30/down25" BI BRM is also fine for NL10 NL20 Nl25 and Nl50

Nl100+

I really suggest u to have bigger BRM when reaching NL100
30BI is the lowest u should ever have imo ....
moving to Nl100 at 40BI/ moving down at 30BI is probably okay.

The reason for this is simple.
Allthough u still can make decent money at Nl100 the average skill level of a NL100 player increasd drastically. 90% of the regulars have a CR,DC or Leggo membership and only do small mistakes while having semi decent basic skills. Most tables only have 1-2 overagressive fish besides the regular: Low edge vs regulars + very agressive fish -> variance even at NL100 will be Huuughe.

2.)
It is extremly important to make the right longterm decisions even when u might lose a good amount of money shortterm.
Being 5-8 BI down over 10K hands Nl100 even though u play very good and are a decent winner is very common nowadays.

So if u have a small BR with only like 25Bi this will negativly effect your mood and your correct descision making !

Thats also what i have to say for all the guys who just recently started poker.

Always do the right descision without tinking about shortterm money.

In a 1K hand sample size your profits are ~90% luck and only 10%skill
In a 5K hand sample size your profits are ~ 80%luck 20%skill
In 10 K hands ~ 70 /30
In 20 K hands ~ 60/40
In 40K hands ~ 50/50

So if u read some decent strategy guides and play your tag agressive style at micros while focusing on correct descision making
-> dont even worry about your results in the first 10K hands.

In those short sample sizes the results are almost complete due to luck /bad luck !

The worst mistake would be to move up and play underrolled at higher limits just because u got a heater and made 15Bi the last 10K hands on Nl25.

The second worst mistake would be to stop making correct descisons and become a total NIT just because u are down 8 BI over the last 10K hands losing every flip.

3.) Tilt control
When u realize u are tilted -> insta shut down all poker applications !
If u only do 1-2 bad descisions while being tilted every session
u will lose 15-30 BI a month !!!
Being on 10 minute Tilt doesnt seem to be that big of a problem shortterm losing only 1-2 BI ....

But longterm it totally kills your winrate.
A player who never tilts saves ~ 150-200 BI /year compared to a player of exact equal skill who has regular tilt issues.
This is hughe !

GL ALL

side note played some relaxed 1,4K hands today 9 tabling 6max Nl25 and made + 75$
I will continue to play some pokerz every now and then when i need some monez

What i think:

First part of ur post feels like a brag or something to me.I dont know if u meant to sound it like that or that its sounds like that to me coz last 3-4 years i've became the exact opposite -> from a very athletic person to a pretty much pc nerdo :D
Also characteristics u lack can easily be "learned" so to say as long as u have the will to do it tho and actually want to do it

Other part just copy-paste in the main poker forum so more people can see it = d be more useful
