Its been awhile since i've really updated my blog so this may be a bit long. Quite a bit has happened since the beginning of the summer. I quit poker due to the constant bitching of my family and worked a real job. After quitting, I realized I liked construction and there is money to be made in it, but not nearly as much as I was making playing poker. I will be getting back into poker full swing within the month. I moved into a new house in Kent. I am now back in school, and it really sucks. I now have a couple pets that are totally sweet. I plan on focusing more on my education and making money again. Overall everything is starting to really come together and I am enjoying life.
Within the month I will be depositing enough to jump back into either 50 or 100NL. I will probably invest in some coaching for awhile to jump start my progress back into the game. I am still deciding if I want to focus on 6Max or HU. My concern with HU is that I will get to a point where it will be hard to get action since there seem to be loads of bum hunters these days. I am also still unsure if I should play on Pokerstars or Full Tilt. I think splitting the money between the 2 sites would be pointless for SSNL since game selection doesn't matter all that much. If anyone can recommend some coaches, their thoughts on HU vs 6Max, and Full Tilt vs Stars, it'd be greatly appreciated.
I decided to quit poker and work a real job this summer. I worked for my dads contracting company, and made great money for a "real" job. Along with the good pay came a ton of responsibility, managing job sites when my father wasn't there, running heavy machinery, and overseeing a crew of laborers that were usually twice my age. I have worked for my old man my whole life, but never full time. I really proved to him my capabilities in running big job sites without his presence which really helped him pick up business this summer. I plan to continue working for him to continue my growth in the contracting business in hopes of using this knowledge to possibly partner up with one of my best friends in real estate. We have talked about flipping houses since we have both worked construction our whole lives for our father's. He specializes in mostly carpentry but is welled versed in all types of construction, except concrete, and waterproofing which are my specialty. Together we would have the experience to flip entire houses without subcontracting, which would increase our profits by a lot. I am finally starting to understand why my father really wanted me to learn contracting. Despite my strengthened interests in contracting, I do plan on making poker my main source of income until I am out of school.
I am back in school and taking 5 fairly difficult classes this semester. So far my favorite classes are my 2 psychology classes, Bio-psychology and Social Psychology, as well as my philosophy class, Principle of Thinking. My toughest class is my English Studies Intensive Writing class, a requirement for Pre-Law. This class is really challenging my thinking and my writing skills. My last class is Microeconomics which is fairly easy, but a lot of busywork. I should be graduating in December 2010, but I may stay an extra semester to retake the only 2 C's I have received in college to boost my GPA. I am very interested in Ohio State University's law program since it is a ~T25 law school in the U.S. I am hoping to have my cumulative GPA around a 3.7 by graduation, and with that and a good LSAT score, I should make it in.
I moved into my new house at the beginning of the summer. I am living with 2 of my best friends/fraternity brothers, and 2 other girls. So far it's going great! I brought my pet fish to the house, and my roommate Kaylen added her turtle to the tank. I bought a rabbit while I was high at a pet shop one day and don't regret it one bit. We call her MJ, and she is sweet as hell. I'll put some videos of her "binkying" in my blog soon , but here are some videos of another rabbit doing it. Mine isn't nearly as big as this one, and doesn't have floppy ears.
I also just "inherited" an 8 month of Rottweiler from my retarded fraternity brothers. She is awesome, very calm, gentle, playful, and obedient. On the flip side, if her guard dog instincts kick in, like when someone knocks at the door, she is scary as hell, which is a very good thing considering all of the valuables we have in our house. Here is a picture of her from my facebook.
feel like ive adjusted pretty good through the limits, and def have an edge over like all regs on 50nl imo (not to sound to cocky but they are pretty bad..)

(im glibaaa, stunzzz is a 13% 3bet squeezes like 15% from blinds, and ash (UTG) is a TAG reg who knows stunzzz is squeezing light aswell)
the squeezer squeezes really light and UTG raisor is pretty bad reg imo and dosnt balance himself in 3bet/4bet pots really well so i though this was a really good spot to flatcall with QQ on BTN to either play postflop really well vs UTG and if bigblind squeezes (like he does) and UTG folds and i 4bet the squeezer is gonna get it in with me with prolly 88+ and KQ+ since he thinks im full of it (we've had alot of 3bet-4bet wars and he would put me on a small pair 100% of the time almost) Also as if it plays out as it does its snapcall and big smile too
I'm looking for a one-time staking deal for the WCOOP ME as of now. If I happen to win a seat in the super satellite later tonight, then I will probably play with 100% of myself. I might just sell the W$ though and still play on someone elses money.
I don't really feel like I need to say much more....I know I am very +ev in this tournament and will be a solid investment.
Send me a PM if you're interested and we can discuss terms and whatnot on aim or msn.
fun ev graph so far on my 2/4 shot
note this is not a whine oooo look at me i run like shit blog entry. It's a wow that's impressive and hilarious imo blog entry. I ran like super god for the past while so this was bound to happen http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f908c.shoveev2.jpg

Just busted out of the Unibet open. My first table was reeeeally soft. A bunch of singers/acters that was sponsored by Unibet and the rest didnt play good at all (except pinball maybe).
I got my stack up a couple of k before I managed to raise an utg limp with 33. Flop came KK3 and utg had AK so I doubled up pretty early. Then my table broke up and I was moved to a pretty bad table (from my point of view) with two really aggressive guys to my left.
I barely sat down before we were moved to the feature table with cameras and all. Guess I didnt bring much value for the viewers. I was so complete carddead its unbelievable. For hours I coudnt even find 96s to play with. It was pretty annoying. What was worse was that the 2 guys to my left 3b like everytime I went into the pot so it was very hard to steal (even when I was so tight!).
Well, even if I was caraddead I managed to steal atleast some and double barrel through the levels so I had just under average stack when my final hand came. I had about 18k (blinds 200/400/50, soon going up). I raise KK in mp, aggressive guy 3b me, I made some theatre and I knew he thought I was tired of his 3b, so I just pushed AI. I called with JJ and he obviously spiked a J on the flop. Good night and goodbye...
Well it was fun even if I had hoped it would last longer. The value was insanely good so I might do some more of these. Will try to find dusty and pinball now, they are in some dumbass suburb somewhere, drinking and singing careokee.. GL all LP:ers that are still in the tournament!
So i watched one of my old nl200 videos and WOW I was a freaking nutjob sicko back then. I knew all of the regs on cake so well, I was like valuebetting 3rd pair, 4betting a 3b with air, just all over the place sicko amazing imo.
I had such confidence back then. I remembered what it was like after finishing it; I seriously thought there was no one with an edge on me in any game i ever played in bar a few of the highstake regs that set in games when there weren't higher tables to play on. I tried my best after finishing to bring myself to that mindset where everything was clear and a possibility. I decided to play on cake again and ran like jesus dude.
I think im gonna play 10k hands today, get my haircut and then fucking celebrate and get trashed.
playing 25nl. by getting bad beat and tilting money away i found myself 8 buyins down early on, i soon came to the realisation that in order to make it a successful session i needed to win every hand thereafter.....and i pretty much did.
feels good having winning, after a period of losing everything
