I just feel like typing and posting images of gaming shit. You're a fucking hero if you read all this.
My diet is going well and im stepping away from veganism and starting to add raw grass fed animal products back into my diet. Lean grass fed beef and some grass fed raw/unpasteurised cheese to test out. I'm pretty excited and hope it improves my health a lot more Loco, you are the man. Lost ~60lbs since this whole thing started. Pretty convinced the secret to losing weight and keeping it off is researching everything about the food your eating so you have a more complex understanding of what you're building your body with instead of just eating a lot of shit.
Mid-late December i said to myself, i need to get fucking decent at a game cuz ive been playing most FPS games casually for so long. It took about a week to rape the shit out of MW2 and i had a LOT of fun with that around about christmas when i was taking it easy anyway. Consistently going 14-2, 31-3 etc.. I felt pretty happy and confident that i still had the ability to rape in these games after such a long period of casual gameplay. The last time i truely raped in FPS was the good old MOHAA / Q3 days.
How a true patriot plays MW2:
If we roll it back about 9 months i'm playing WoW all day every day rocking arena games with some internet friends ive kept in touch with very frequently since. I mean, these guys are fucking awesome and i hope to visit them someday irl, one from Finland and one from Poland. So many good memories from the game but when i quit 9 months or something ago i deleted ALL my screenshots to make quitting easier I wish i kept them now looking back on it
My friend sent me some pics from our WoW days and i thought id post them here... Its just so i can look back at them sometimes and remember them mainly but for your enjoyment too
Some are from my POV and some from his, hence UI/character changes etc.
Wanna see my banker? Will give you an idea of how hardcore i was playing... Check these resources i FREQUENTLY sold and created more, literally this much every week:
Heres a picture of me and my best WoW buddy and best 2v2 arena partner Sarumen. We played warlock/rogue and maxed at about ~2370 or so - shitty BG, extremely tough to get higher due to high % of OP DK faggots near the top at the time. Mostly played 2v2 with 0-200 resillience but near the end of S6 i settled with about 550-600 for 2v2/3v3. http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/1288e.saru.jpg
A ridiculous 2v2 game where this druid wouldnt leave and spammed hots for 45 minutes even though he literally cant beat a warlock and would lost 2 points if he left. We refuse to give in to douchbags like this obv cuz we lose 20+ pts: http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/2928/fuckourlives.jpg
Okay due to request on forums + ingame msgs i've decided to upload it for you all. I don't claim responsibility for everything in this pack as several things came from Caith UI (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11255-CaithUI.html) and Hams UI (http://www.ensidia.com/community/post/410/). Also credit goes to lewz for the action bar cooldown idea. I only changed that a couple days ago after seeing his video on WCM.
Note: Make sure your old Interface and WTF folders are backed up and moved out of your World of Warcraft folder before starting any of these steps.
1. Extract Gortz UI.rar and copy both Interface and WTF to your main World of Warcraft folder.
2. Open the WTF folder then the Account subfolder.
- Rename 'ACCOUNT NAME' to your account name.
3. Open the newly named 'ACCOUNT NAME' folder and look for a folder called 'YOUR REALM'.
- Rename 'YOUR REALM' to your realm name e.g. Auchindoun (no EU or US)
4. Open the newly named 'YOUR REALM' folder and look for a folder called 'YOUR CHAR NAME'.
- Rename 'YOUR CHAR NAME' with your character name.
5. Load up WoW. Select 'addons' on the character menu and be sure'Load out of date addons' is enabled.
6. It will be a mess. Two things you need to type into the chat window to load my profiles are:
/simpleminimap profile choose Gortz UI
/grid profile choose Gortz UI
7. Now you need to set all other addons to load my profile. Do this for the following addons by using the chat commands i give you:
For all of these, its as simple as selecting profile and setting the existing profile to 'Gortz UI'. Some might not display 'Gortz UI' but instead 'Caith UI', in that case select Caith.
8. If after having set all those up you have a black box around your chat window, type
/chatter and go to the option 'borders/backgrounds' and disable it for all chat frames.
9. For Bartender (action bar addon) there are two profiles.
Type /bar to go to the Bartender UI.
Under 'profile' select either 'config keybinds' or 'hidden bars'.
Something you should note about my configuration of bartender:
Bar 10 and Bar 8 are display only under 'Hidden bars' setting. I use it to display my cooldowns only and all the bars in 'Config Keybinds' are hidden out of sight but still enabled.
Bar 6, 2, 1 = Actual bars displayed in 'config keybind'
Bar 3 = hidden bar (mounts/pets/hearthstone) to save clutter.
Bar 4 = noggenfogger/poisons/food/bandages/cannibalize as displayed in config keybinds screenshot
Bar 5 and 7 were part of a hidden stealth and shadowdance keybind setup a while ago.
I wont be updating or providing support for this pack and im uploading it purely to help AJ players who requested it.
Enjoy,
Gortz.
In other gaming news, i also played Batman : Arkham Asylum and holy shit i'd recommend that to anyone. Really fantastic single player game and took about 15 hours to finish on normal. Graphics were amazing and ran surprisingly perfectly on my 8800GTX. I also played some torchlight and find it surprisingly shitty? Every dungeon just seems like a standard randomly generated cheap copy and all i have to do is spam 2 abilities then spam health/mana pots. Its pretty mindless and the stats system is so simple theres really nothing special about it. Can i even go outside the fucking town? It just seems like cheap portals to randomly generated content/dungeons and a pathetic storyline keeping it somewhat afloat although not really.
I havent talked much about poker here lately but im enjoying playing and dont have much else to say.. I customised my PS lately though with some modified mods -- made my own table background + buttons w/ coloured note mod and name/chipstack mods from some theme site. The circle around players avatars changes with the note colour. Lurped is red b/c he's the motherfucking lurped. Chips are an old clay chip mod. I hear the more mods you have the larger your cock and better at poker you become. Clearly +EV to mod everything to fuck.
I'd like to say a big thank you to Donald, Loco & Ket for being so cool and helpful. Even if its just discussing random stuff and hanging out on skype. You guys are truely awesome
Hope u enjoyed the blog, felt good to write a bunch of shit out.
With all the traveling I had to do, I definitely did not put in enough hands, but that's to be expected during holiday season. Despite that, my month went well. $9.2k online plus rakeback and a bit of live play came out to $11.5k in the end. Most satisfyingly, I am running good on FTP. Hope that keeps up.
For 2010, I am going to work on increasing the amount I play. While I always stress quality over quantity, I think I can add a decent amount to my monthly hands played without sacrificing quality of play or quality of life and other activities I am engaged in. For now, here's December graph:
So, firstly, my profit for last year was ~$120. lol, not too much, but I've learned A LOT last year, this year will be better for sure
Definitely I'm going to play more PLO, also I want to put more volume. Minimum 1k hand when playing. Because sometimes I play because I don't have better things to do, but I don't have this fire to play, it was bad and always ended with crappy spots etc.
So, this year, I start at nl5 and plo5. From the bottom to the top - that's the plan.
I wanna learn a bit more about the "investment world" and am hopeful that some of you LP guys can point me in the right direction. What books would you suggest? What websites? What do you use to trade stocks? Etc.
I know a few guys here have made a transition from poker to some form of investing (stocks, etc) and some play poker/invest at the same time, so I'm hopeful that you guys will give me some suggestions on where to get started learning about that world.
Every blog title I write while reasonably sober this year will be a reference to a movie, book or TV-series. Possibly a song.
I'm much better at omaha now then a month ago before my break. The main difference is that I've reduced my VPIP by 40% (%, not %-points) or so. My hold'em game is a little rusty since I didn't play much in December, but I've changed a thing or two with that too and so far I'm very happy with it. Slightly tighter in some spots and I've started table selecting a bit more then before. Considering how I played almost anyone HU on 10/20 to start tables last year and basically just used "select all" to get 10 tables up when I played mid stakes this doesn't say much, but still. Results have been good so far, over the first 8k hands or so.
I'm currently studying for 4 different exams, all occurring within ~2 weeks from now. I think I'm pretty much a look to pass two of them, but might screw up either one of the others which would mark the first time I'd fail a written exam. That would suck, but I can always pass them later.
New years eve was crazy, went to some "Gask", which is basically a dinner and then a club with my sister and a friend of hers. Got almost as drunk as them, and after it was all over I couldn't get myself to turn on my phone for 2.5 days due to generally being far to afraid of what I would find. Apparently my last words before we hailed a cab home was "Ohh no, we have to find the fat chick!".
Other then that I've played some fun hands the last few days:
Hey guys, got a little issue here, I am trying to cash out from my current site (betsafe) to move out to a new room. Since I was with propaganda poker (and used an instant BR promo to get me started on IPN's NL2 tables back then), I don't have a Moneybookers associated to my account. I decided to make an account, but in order to associate it with my Betsafe account and be able to widthdraw, I need to make a minimum deposit of 15 euros, now I could do a bank transfer (either from bank to MB so I can deposit or betsafe->bank->MB), but it would be much quicker for me and I wouldnt be stuck without a BR to play with for a week (I'm on vacation all week, so ofc I want to put volume).
So here's the deal, while my MB is empty, I do have paypal, so I'm looking for someone to send me 15 euros on MB and I will send 15 euros on paypal. I can go first if you're a known poster here. I know I don't have a ton of posts or am well known but yeah, I guess thats just a risk you'll have to take.
PM me on LP and I'll give you my msn/yahoo/aim/gtalk/whatever
noob4 shows
noob4 wins $1740 CAD from main pot
bigacsiga doesn't show
I played alot of live poker the last few days at fallsview, there were soo many big donks playing. worst time to run bad, I lost like $900 but w/e.. it was pretty fun
btw do you guys think its rude to ask the dealer to see someones hand before it gets mucked? I did that a few times yesterday and everyone was giving me shit for it -_-
Anyways, im doing pretty good online, should be taking a shot @ nl200 soon. Here's my graph after my 1 and 1/2 month break, my laptop broke down so I got a new one (an asus g51j)
been playing mostly all nl25 trying to rebuild a roll to get back to playing nl50 fully rolled. But it seems to be that i am running horrible at nl25 about 4 bi under ev. But once im stuck a couple bi for some reason i just move up to nl50 and my cards just hold better when im up against the fish. Sadly i dont have enough of a roll to comfortably play 16 tables of nl50...not yet at least.
This is going to be all im doing this month is just grinding out cash. I know i can beat cash for a decent bit for the month and just for some extra help for me to stay away from mtts this month I made a deal with a friend to send money to him if he caught me playin any mtt. Hopefully i dont get burnt out in cash half way thru the month like always and spew all my winnings in mtts trying to get a nice score again. Well i think its time to chill watch some tv and pass the fuck out, rinse, wash, repeat...
ONCE AGAIN, back to break even poker at NL 10. SO FRUSTRATING. I genuinely felt I had an 8k hand stretch where I was playing good. But couple of stupid plays and I am back to bad play.
This game really messes with your head. I think I am rational enough to not be results oriented. But doing that is much more difficult when you dont have the experience to evaluate if that play brings long term succeess.
Bah. Anyway...Whining aside...
I played a tight game. 11.1/7.7/4.38 with a 3% 3bet.Do you think I should open this up? I feel like I get unusually little action preflop. And that results in the only action I get to basically setminers I assume...or CLASH OF THE BIG PAIR scenarios... And that leads to me getting no action postflop except in reverse implied odds scenarios. SO OFTEN it just goes check fold. So fun...
And theres definately huge leaks in my game postflop. I feel Post flop is what suffers most when I am on tilt.
So...I think for tonight I am going to play NL 2. I want to move up ASAP but I dont trust myself with Tilt right now at NL 10.
BAH. This game is so hard. Anyway, thanks for reading.

Well the year is over and i'm a little late posting my results. Overall a very, very good year for me, I accomplished far more then I ever thought possible in poker and also manged to keep an 80+ average in my 2 semesters of university (industrial engineering) and had a successful workterm as well. The hard work I put into becomming a competent heads up player really paid off for me. After analyzing all my transactions I figure I ended up making somewhere just below 50k canadian (~45k american) give or take a few grand (Missing a bunch of hands off my laptop that were lost in a reformat). Hopefully 2010 brings continued success for me.
The itunes program doesn't allow the dragging of wmv files onto the itouch. I was wondering if there was anyway around this so I can put poker/coaching vids onto my itouch and watch them in at random places. Has anyone done this? or is there just no way to get an itouch to play downloaded poker vids off the internets?????
fuck goals. im just gonna have some fun learning to play better poker and not think about making money. all these $$$$ goals are what causes all the misery in the grind. i see myself going to vegas again this year, making decent money and having an awesome year regardless, coz 2009 was filled with too much "goooools" and sucked pretty bad. i downloaded a pic of a check and edited it in paint(lol) puttting some ridiculous amount thinking im def cashing it out by the time the check is good. i wont fucking worry about the games and shit anymore, just not worth the stress. gl to everyone
hi there, not so new to LP, mostly lurking, but figure I'd make my blog here rather than make another crappy one that I'd forget about in a few weeks since at least I remember to read here every day. :-) guess i'll keep it brief
January Goals:
[] Don't fuck up exams
[] 20k hands if I'm gonna play 6max, 50k if FR
[] Win money
[] Play thinking poker
[] Stop playing SNGs, I'm soooo -EV in them it's not even funny but I insist on trying again and again
Year Goals:
[] Get Supernova. I'm a fucking idiot as I had it so easily last year at 90k VPPs since summer and let it slip
[] Comfortably win at 100NL by end of the year
So over the last few months I have been playing basically break even poker at $50NL. I have been winning at $25 nl. Why is this???
Why is it I basically destroy $25 and break even on $50? The players are NOT better. I am playing worse.
I have been working to hard and too long to let this happen. It has nothing to do with LAG or TAG or any other style of play. It all has to do with playing smart poker.
Since we are starting a new year and I am wiping the slate clean and hammering back down. Time to play smart poker….
Here is some mindless ramblings:
Call less, bet more….
Betting can eliminate the need to have a playable hand.
Location, location, location
If I am playing well, I drive people away from my relentless pressure.
Table selection, the other night I found myself 6 tabling and 4 of them had an Average VPIP of 18 or less… ideal for my style is 25 to 30.
Ante tables are fun… but draw the craziest players.
If you are better then the others at the tables, why put yourself in marginal situations.
Pay attention to the rest of the full ring table, when playing a guy with a VPIP of 40+… more then likely 5 to 6 other good players… a higher average then an average table.
Have a reason to call, if not raise/bet or fold. The opposite of most people.
Opening limping invites problems.
Calling with a big hand in a multi-limped pot invites problems.
Raising a multi-limped pot with a marginal hand invites problems.
Calling a multi-limped pot (can) cause problems, or (can) get away from the hand cheaply.
I just need to play with my head on straight and ALWAYSN remember… We make out money from Value Betting not Bluff Catching!
I'm going to try to be very realistic after running really bad and nearly busting my bankroll, so here's what I'm hoping to accomplish in January.
[ ] Make $40 playing SNGs exclusively
[ ] More volume - 2 hours a day minimum*
[ ] Place in the money in a large tournament (1000+)
[ ] Win 1 or more live SNGs at the local charity games (130 payout, 30 buyin)
I'm really trying to get back to putting the volume I did during my first semester (roughly 9k hands a month at 2/5, 4 table max) because recently work and social activities have been slowing me down. I find myself constantly reminding myself that I should be playing and trying to learn more about the game, especially when I'm out doing insignificant things. I feel I can be a very strong player based mostly on my ability to read hands and outplay people postflop, at least at my current level. By June I would like to be playing NL50 but I know I have a long, hard road of grinding and analyzing my play. I may get some sort of screen capture program so I can make a video of how I play so people who are better than me can give me some advice, but I'm not sure on that one.
*This is hard to say but I think I can make at least 2 hours a day. I have really no excuse to not be able to put in that amount of time, so we'll see where it goes.
GL at the tables LP, here's hoping 2010 brings you all good fortune and no villains catching 2 outers on the river! :D
